Layla Phillips is living in her worst nightmare. After a series of betrayals from people that are closest to her, she is beyond hurt. She is forced to pick herself up and start from ground zero in both her professional and personal life. Layla is determined to get back into her faith while healing old family wounds. A chance encounter at a restaurant brings Sebastian “Bash” Daniels, head of Daniel & Co, a multimedia conglomerate, into her life.
Sebastian is willing and able to help Layla bring her dream podcast to fruition. Will Layla be able to move on from the past betrayals and start fresh with Sebastian in her business and personal life?
I see you, Miss Jones! Layla was living her best life, then she has a day from hell that upends her entire life!!💔 Taking a moment to regroup, puts her in the path of her destiny. Meeting Bash was a breath of fresh air. This man was not only handsome, but kind, driven, and uses his resources to help others win.
Bash is enamored the moment he lay eyes on Layla and knows that he wants to be in her orbit. He all but begs her to join him for dinner. Layla, albeit hesitant, is intrigued by this man, as she can feel that he is genuine. As dinner progresses, he is able to make her laugh and smile, forgetting about all the ish that happened that day.
Layla quickly learns that what she thought was the worst day of her life, was God removing people that meant her no good! He needed her path clear so that he was free to place her exactly where she needed to be. Really enjoyed this!
Friendship betrayal is one of the worst hurts that you can experience. NTMA. This was so beautifully written. I love when I run into these and I get a new catalog to dig through.
The FMC received everything that she deserved after experiencing so much hurt in one day.
Layla was going through it. She came out on top in the end. I don’t understand why she would hire Nova. Friendship and work relationship should have ended at the same time. 3.5⭐️
Layla was having a difficult day. She was stabbed in the back by a close friend and ended up going through the ultimate betrayal by her man. Fate brings Bash into Layla's life just when she needs a helping hand. He not only helped her with her career, but he also made sure she was loved properly. I loved how Layla didn't let the two betrayals keep her down and used her faith to get herself back. I couldn't stand Layla's ex, Leo. I especially detested her so-called friend, Zoe, because she was a true witch 👀. It goes to show that people come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. This was a good book about healing, renewal of faith and finding the right type of man to love.
This is a story of perseverance. Layla was thrown some haymakers but she absorbed the jabs by leaning into her faith and talents. Her and Sebastian were the cutest. The way he handled her read as an older man but the ages were never confirmed. Zoe ……ZOEEEEEEE girl comparison is the thief of joy. She did all that just to have failed ratings. I wouldn’t have hired Nova. She was so insignificant and wishy washy she should’ve let her stay with Zoe. I was kinda happy that Layla and her mother reconciled because who wants to live in the trauma of bad parenting. Good thing she released and gave it to God. That mama needs therapy. I wonder if the author had B.Simone and her friends in mind while writing. B.Simone is definitely Zoe by the way lol.
Whew! GOD always has a ram in the bush! Layla is fierce, loyal, strong, and an overcomer. She lost a lot in a day and couldn’t see the bright side but the intelligent, handsome, mogul Sebastian that GOD put in her direct path in that moment would help her recover it all plus more. The story was sweet, raw, and teaches us about trust and letting go of people and things that weigh us down and do more harm than good. Tough conversations were had and helped lead to healing bonds and growth which is what we all need at times to make peace with dropping dead weight. I loved it 10/10
What a day she had. As hard as it was everything happens for a reason. If it didn't she would never know. The best decision she made was to go that hotel. I loved Bash's swag. He didn't beg he simply spoke the truth. Now I love Auntie. Momma needed to get that information. She was too comfortable and disrespectful. I adored how Bash showed up for her and when they disagreed he was still there. Not sure I would have had any words with Nova. You can't receive closure from someone who was never meant to be in your circle✨️✨️Loved this 💯❤️❤️
Awww 😍, a serendipitous met & greet, food & fun 😉, wine/dine/wealthy & fine 👀, a social platform & a courtship (Leo who🤣⁉️)…too sweet‼️ This rapid romance was plausible. Lalila & Bash deserve each other & their HEA‼️”Her Heart Reimagined” (4.25 ⭐’s) emitted melinated movie moment vibes & melodic tunes “you are the perfect verse over a tight beat”🤭👀: “Jason’s Lyric”, “Love Jones”, “Just Wright” & “Brown Sugar” Hmmm 🤔, “Alexa, play “Sweet Sensation” by Stephanie Mills” & dust off the DVD player. It’s a melanted movie marathon type of day 🤩…Music & Movies‼️
I really enjoyed this book. Layla's so-called best friend and mom pissed me off from the jump. Layla and Bash's story was so sweet. He came in letting it be known he wanted to give her the attention she craved and cater to her needs without her having to ask. It really goes to show how seeing your parent's relationship can have an effect on your dating life unconsciously. Layla's friend, showing her real colors, freed her and released her to be true calling. Leo's trifling behind released her into the arms of true love. I thoroughly enjoyed this short read.
I truly love this book. It hit real close to home for me, how you think someone is your friend and they betray you because they are jealous of you. It doesn't make sense how someone can have more than you and still be jealous of your shine and steal your joy but in the end you still end up on top. I take as everything happens for a reason and that's because better people, places, and things are to come.
This was a great story about perseverance. Layla went through some much but her faith in his allowed her to press on and come out on top. Sometimes we hold on to things because we have grown complacent whether it’s in a relationship or friendship. If We listen to God more the lessons in our lives wouldn’t last so long.
Side-note: the book is told solely from Layla’s POV. The last chapter we get Bash’s POV.
This was a very sweet, heartfelt story. No unhinged maniac, shootouts, or corner boys. Just a sweet story about finding yourself again after you've been betrayed.
Sometimes when people hurt us, we tend to wallow in the hurt and let it consume us. But the best course of action is to get up and dust ourselves off. Layla had Sebastian to help her reimagine her heart.
This was a good read but I felt like the book was missing some aspects like did Nova betray Layla too. Did Zoe’s show flop eventually? What happened to Sebastian ex friend’s business after he betrayed him? How did Layla’s mother respond to Layla’s engagement? That’s just a few questions that I would have liked answered.
A sweet, inspirational story. The story flows smoothly. The main characters were relatable. I would have like an epilogue but that might not be the author's style. The ending seemed abrupt. All in all a good book.
