Evo: Steamy Cyborg Romance

Rate this book
An evolving cyborg who no longer trusts himself after being hacked by the alien enemy finds hope in a human with an ancient gift.

The war with the Solcrue Empire threatens the fragile freedom of the humans and their cyborg protectors, as well as their ability to survive the fringes of the galaxy. Can they gain the upper hand and change the course of the war before it's too late?

Evo
I did horrible things under the control of the Solcrue Empire. All I want is to protect my brothers, Relic and Rogue, and never let it happen again. Guilt won't let me live among them in the shelter of our nebula. None of them hurt the ones we were made to protect, not the way I did. So I take patrol shifts as they rebuild, and I watch for the enemy. I will ensure the Solcrue meet a slow and vicious end when I get my chance. I just don't know how to prevent the past from repeating.

On a patrol, I encounter a tiny, busted-up ship and a human female in critical condition. She is a stunning creature, resilient, and does not cave under pressure, unlike me. Her engines are damaged, so I tow her back to our mothership for repairs and healing.

What she needs is more than we can give. And the number of humans she says are on her mothership is more than we can take in. So my brothers design a daring plan to take an enemy ship. Aera wants in. She's stubborn, a bit mouthy, and awakens new energy in my core.

Aera
My human colony is lost, running out of fuel and food among the stars. I am their only hope. I am the healthiest, strongest, and have the best chance of reaching help. It's a one-way trip in my little starfighter, and I fear by the time I find a way home, I will be too late.

A freak solar storm damages my ship, and I'm left alone in space at the edge of the end until a new kind of terror peers in at me. Evo...Evolution is my saving grace. But the CyberTitans are in need of help too, as they fight back against Solcruean forces. We know a thing or two about surviving in the middle of galactic nowhere. We need refuge. Titans need numbers.

When the Solcrue link me to an ancient source of power, I become a target. The only one who can save me is the one Titan the enemy has managed to hack. He takes the risk, and that means everything to me.

When we both become trapped on an enemy ship, I find myself in a new predicament. I don't know if I can free him, but he gave my colony a second chance at life. I'll do anything to prove to him that he's worth saving and get him in my arms again.

A steamy, slow burn, one-love, plot-driven HEA sci-fi romance with action, violence, and cursing.

Orphaned daughter of two of the original Titans creators, Aera and what’s left of her people have been languishing on a dead space station which has been decimated and raided over and over again by the Solcrue, resulting in mass starvation and no renewable resources. In a desperate attempt to summon help, Aera is sent on a mission to try to contact the rogue Titans who’ve been liberated from and are now actively battling the Solcrue. With no life support left, Aera gets a message out as her ship is ripped apart and she’s rendered unconscious.

Titan Evo has finally been reunited with his long-tortured twin Eon, who he’s gratified to find out has a mate and is waging war on the Solcrue. Evo, however, feels he’s too damaged himself to aspire to anything besides a valiant self-decommissioning. When he becomes aware of the faint activity surrounding Aera’s distress call, he fears he’s too late to save her. Along with his brother and the other Titans, they rescue Aera and set out on a humanitarian mission to rescue and recover as many of her cohort as possible, at great risk to them all.

As the mission is underway, Aera and Evo are strongly drawn to each other on a soul level - even though Evo is certain he’s lacking one - and they uncover evidence that links not only the two of them in a larger, more critical picture, but paints additional targets on them and those they love.

This was a pulse-pounding, steamy follow up to Eon’s book, and is a wonderful addition to the series. As ever, Sybur Phyre’s writing is at once funny, poignant, and often quietly devastating. I look forward to the next one. I was generously furnished an advance reader copy from the author, and I’m sharing my honest review.

Book two in the "Rogue Fleet" series! Now, I have not unfortunately read the first book in this series, but I think I got everything. I love the extensive information and critical detail the author provides about the book, which definitely helped me as I read along to go back to. Very much appreciated! It adds so much depth by the end. (Also the fact that I have a memory of a potato, the entire info section available is a lifesaver!)

Aera's people have been struggling immensely, starving and on the brink of death. On a mission she is stranded and desperately reaches out to a rogue Titan ship to ask for any assistance. Evo reluctantly does so after receiving her distress call, but also cannot explain the pull he has towards her...

The FMC, Aera, is brilliant, patient and clever. Although an orphan of parents who're no longer living - who were also the creators of the Titans - she makes the most of what she has. Her character is strongminded and is a fighter! She's not afraid to stand up for herself, others, and has a strong personality that isn't weak. She makes Evo see that he is worthy of love and care and doesn't judge him for his past actions/trauma. I love how she is the forward, bold one and makes him come out of his shell.

Next, is the MMC, Evo. He feels that he is unworthy of love and trust because of what he's been through - his trust has been abused and broken and he was made to do awful things under control. I just want to give him a massive hug! Drawn to Aera, he's fiercely protective of her and learns to trust again. He finds something special, a hope with Aera which is heart-wrenching because he never seems to have had something stable/steady. A fierce fighter, dangerous and deadly in the face of battle. Also, his deadpan replies to Aero sometimes are so pure and cute!

This world is so vast! I'm amazed. So enthralling and immersive! The world building really pulls you in from the start, creative storyline, loveable characters and endless adventure. The cast is brilliant! There are moments that tug at your heart strings, dangerous and violent scenes, and also light-hearted times. (The scene where she was explaining the gun sizes of Solcrue and Titans is hilarious - Evo's innocent response is so fitting though.) I love the HEA honestly, the MCs deserve their happy ending! Their chemistry is intense but it's not rushed/forced. Also I'm so pleased to see Eon reuniting with his twin, Evo!

The War Continues!

The war between the Solcrue and the Cybertitans continues with the humans and Cybertitans hiding in a Nebula that, so far, the Solcrue have not been able to find. Evo has been rescued from his imprisonment with the Solcrue, but he is wracked with guilt over the things that he was forced to do for them. He feels he is unworthy of anyone’s trust and in fact is afraid that he might still be under their control somehow. So he tries to stay away from everyone and goes on patrol by himself. When out on patrol he see’s a small ship that is stranded with a life form on board. But they are running out of oxygen fast and he is their only hope of survival, so he breaks into the ship and is shocked to find a lone human female. He carries her back to his ship and saves her. He doesn’t understand why he is so drawn to her, but he knows he doesn’t deserve her.

Aera is sent out to search for the cybertitans to get their help to rescue the humans on her ship. Everyone is starving to death and they don’t have long to live. She is their only hope, but when she is caught in a solar storm she knows that she has failed and is down to her last few minutes of life. But when she wakes up and see’s Evo she begs him to help her save her people.

These two are both attracted to each other, and if Evo will just stop fighting himself they could be great together. Aera has knowledge that can help them fight the Solcrue but Evo wants her protected at all costs. These two must learn to trust each other and work together if they hope to survive. This is a great book that is fast paced with lots of twists and turns. Don’t miss it!

First, I have to note how much I love the immense amount of information the author provides in the front of the book—all geared toward bringing us readers up to speed, giving us definitions to alien vocabulary, and making us familiar with the whole cast of characters. It’s a LOT of information. And I appreciate it.

I was half way through the first chapter and already was wishing I could teleport myself into the pages of EVO to give Evo a hug and a good shake & self esteem talk. Gah! Yeah, he’s my favorite. I’ve read many Sybur Phyre books, the characters she creates always make a connection—never fails—but, every now and then, she writes a character that truly resonates. Evo resonates.

Overall, EVO is a great sci-fi love story. Evo and Aera make for a beautiful, yet deadly, couple. I can’t wait to fall deeper into the ROGUE FLEET series and see where the rest of the amazing cast of characters land.

Steamy,pulse-pounding and often heart breaking!

“Promise me that you be careful in battle. I can’t lose you, or I will fall apart. And you saw what that looks like.”“Just carry my love in your ultromotor, and I’ll carry yours in mine. And we’ll find a way to survive.”

The 2nd installement in the Rogue fleet series and about Evo and Aera.
She's the descendant of the Creators and a critical key in the war.
The Centurion is Aera's colony and they are starving ,dying without resources.
As a last hope ,they send Aera to look for the Titans in the Iridithatium cloud.Evo finds her....
He struggles with traumas from his time enslaved by the Solcrue ,and his dificulties controlling his gift.
In the war they don't have a break but sometimes love happens.
One more incredibly good addiction to this series, with a superb overarching plot.
A complex and imaginative plot , a never-ending of action, rich world building and characters that pull all your strings .
I highly recomend this book and all the series!

I found this book to be an intriguing sci-fi story with a slow burn underlying romance. The lead male character EVO or Evolution is a Titan who has been enhanced with impressive abilities yet struggles with guilt over acts he was forced to complete in the past.

He instinctively saves Aera who was sent by her dying colony to find the Titans yet nearly perished when her ship malfunctions. Her genetics as a descendent of the creators also give her unique properties.

I had not read the first book in this subseries but that did not impact my enjoyment of this book or my ability to follow the story. I look forward to future books in this series to learn the outcome of the war with the Solcrue.

I received an advance copy of this book from the author which did not influence my review.

Wonderful new story to this series I'd read. This romantic adventure story is about Aera our human from the mother ship Centurion is sent out to look for help for her dying group and Evo our Titan who was programed to work with the Solcrue Empire is now free but feels guilty for betraying his Brothers. Evo afraid of betraying his Brothers again assigns himself to patrol and finds Aera. Do they save Aera's group of survivors? Aera and Evo were an engaging and likable couple to read about. There are angst, romance and chemistry, action and drama written in this enjoyable copy I'd received and volunteer to read and review.

This book has everything a great sci-fi need: aliens, battles, intrigue, a mystery and romance.
Evo is a conflicted, hunky Titan who you will instantly fall in love with, while Aera is a strong-minded. Determined, big-hearted woman, who has a destiny she knows nothing about.
I loved this story, and although I have not read the previous book, I was able to understand what was going on. I have loved every book I have read by this author so far, I can’t wait for the next one.
I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.

And the saga continues...

This series is just so good. It is really well written and the action and characters are believable and wrap you up in the story so much that you can see it. I loved Eon, and Evo is just as good if not better. Aera's story and the plight of her ship just grab you and tear out your heart. The sense of loss and doom just makes you cry. Th battles and the comraderie of the Titans and others is real and you pull for them throughout it all. So well done! Can't wait for the next book!

Evo Rogue Fleet by Sybur Phyre is a true sci-fi masterpiece. Phyre is a master writer, able to put together infinite characters and sub plots in such a way as to captivate the reader. This time we follow Evo, Eon's twin, as he and human female Aera meet and bond, fighting the Solcrue and saving more and more innocent humans.

The war has left physical and mental damage on most of the characters of the resistance. Another pairing happens when it's needed most and the path forward is revealed. This series is best read in order as references to events and characters are common. 18+ scenes.
