Sky's Edge is the second instalment in the adult romantasy series, The Four Realms. Each novel follows a separate couple but exists in the same world and is building into a larger story so it is recommended to read in order. Written primarily in first person POV, the story follows Catla, a half demon, half human who finds herself in an arranged marriage to Tanyn, the new demon king of Sky’s Edge. In demon customs she is meant to spend time with him to test the bond, a bond she is none too happy about, regardless of how handsome this aloof male is...yet some catches and when it becomes clear there is a target on Catla's back Tanyn now has two tasks at hand - to convince Catla to see how perfect they are for each other...and to stop the dark forces seeking to end her life. Catla must decide if she is willing to give up what she knows for a future with Tanyn or will she find the crown is too much to bear?
This is classic Kristen Ashley, romantasy style!
Catla is a woman who has built a rhythm to her life that is shaken up in this novel. I admired how much she kept things together and sought to do good with the opportunities she had. She has a bit of self doubt that makes her second guess things but she grows throughout the journey and I loved that for her.
Tanyn is a gruff and aloof male who very much keeps his cards close to his chest. He knows exactly what he wants but the way he goes about winning Catla in the beginning creates problems. He also has a bad reaction to her rejection. When he is confident in their love, though, he is a man down bad!
In terms of spice I would place this novel at 3 spicy peppers out of 5 spicy peppers. There are about 10 spicy scenes in this book but they vary in detail and explicitness - some being vague references and other being full scenes. The first scene appears around the 35% mark. The spice leans more towards romance with a focus on feeling. I liked how the spice was used to highlight the draw between them and then as it progressed it was used to further their connection and intimacy.
The story itself had a bit of a rough start for me in terms of getting me connected. I struggled with how much Catlin opposed things and Tanyn's coldness to the point I was worried they were not meant to be endgame. There is miscommunication that created some great tension and I appreciated how it didn't draw things out too long but that reunion was everything. I appreciated getting time to settle into the world once things kicked off and, as always, animal companions are everything. I am curious about the additional conflicts with other characters that moved along because they have me desperate to know how those stories will continue because they are MESSY. I liked that Catla and Tanyn settle into this comfortability and they become supports for their friends and family for a section of the novel. This does slow the story down a bit for them but, as always, Kristen hits off with a climatic twist that shakes up this world and I want to see where this goes so much! The ending is sweet for our main couple while also keeping us on our toes for what more is to come!
Overall, a good sequel and I look forward to keep reading!

Sky's Edge picks up right where Night's Fall leaves off, and I was immediately thrown back into the chaos of the Four Realms. This time we follow Catla and King Tanyn, whose arranged marriage is anything but smooth. Catla wants absolutely nothing to do with the match, there's tension from the very first page, and with danger lurking in the background, I couldn't stop wondering if these two were ever going to find their way to each other.
One thing I'll always say about Kristen Ashley is that I love her writing. It has such a distinct voice that feels unmistakably hers. What surprised me with Sky's Edge was just how much angst and emotional turmoil there was right from the beginning. The misunderstandings, the push and pull, and all that tension had me on the of my seat.
I'm already a sucker for arranged marriage and forced proximity, but this story brought something refreshingly different to those tropes. It wasn't just about two people being thrown together it explored the uncertainty, fear, and emotional baggage that comes with it in a way that felt surprisingly grounded. Add in the wonderful friendships, found family moments, and the mystery that kept throwing curveballs my way, and I was completely invested. I genuinely didn't see some of those twists coming! And don't even get me started on all the little glimpses we got of the other couples... I already know I'm going to be impatiently waiting for their stories because the drama brewing there has me so intrigued.
Catla was such an easy character to empathize with. Her hesitation about the arranged marriage felt authentic, and I appreciated that the story acknowledged the emotional reality of that situation instead of simply romanticising it. Watching her relationship with Tanyn slowly grow into something built on trust, respect, and genuine affection was incredibly satisfying.
And what a green flag Tanyn is. Confident without being overbearing, patient when it mattered most, emotionally mature, and unwavering in his integrity he completely won me over. Author also has a real talent for making every side character feel like an actual person rather than someone who exists only to move the plot forward, and that's something I always appreciate in her books.
With its blend of romance, mystery, political intrigue, and a unique futuristic fantasy setting, Sky's Edge is an incredibly immersive and easy-to-read romantasy. If you're already a Kristen Ashley fan, this is an absolute must-read. And if you love romantasy with heartfelt relationships, found family, and plenty of twists to keep you guessing, I'd definitely recommend adding this one to your TBR.

Thank you Kristen Ashley and Tanaka for the eARC per street team. Gahh, I had to re-read Book 1 to dive back into this fantasy world.
Catla’s father has finally made true to his word and arranged for her to get married to King Tanyn, the new king of Sky’s Edge. As Catla wants nothing to do with the marriage to start, she tries means to run havoc during her time with Tanyn but he is still determined to marry her. Little by little, he wears her down but circumstances happen that lead to both of them unexpectedly being apart only to realize they do want to be together.
Catla is headstrong and it’s just sweet to see her and Tanyn fall for each other despite being mega opposites. In true KA fashion, the banter is on point, the chemistry is sizzling with a lot of sweetness and some angst thrown around. The emotional vibes are just perfect. I find the romance to be strongly focused on the first 40% of the book as they went through their relationship upheavals with some tiny angst in between. And once it resolves, it becomes a relationship of adults with them understanding each other's strength and vulnerabilities and growing their relationship.
The last 60% of the book heavily focused on the overarching plot. With the events in Book 1 in play, we find that there are greater mysteries afoot with Catla being in danger, so there was some underlying mystery in play. It was also great to see Catla’s strong female friendship with her other friends, Laura, Gayle, and Monica. There were also revelations of who the next two couples will be in the book with their underlying relationship starting in this book. The love they have for one another is so genuine!
As this is a fantasy book, you can expect dragon shifters, witches, fae and demons in play set in an urban futuristic fantasy world. It’s great to see Kristen return to fantasy with the classic KA vibes I love. This one is a solid follow-up and I can't wait to see who the next book will be focused on - teehehehee
PS: I would recommend reading book 1: Night’s Fall as the overarching plot builds from that book and it might lead to confusion.

I've always been hesitant for fantasy reads, but since starting any of KA's fantasy reads I've become a big fantasy lover and I have been loving this series!
I was so excited to get Catla's story after the first book. She's so fun and knows exactly who she is and what she wants. So she's not thrilled when her parents set her up with King Tanyn in an arranged marriage situation. They are forced to spend time together and initially she tries all she can to get him to not be interested. But of course that doesn't work. Tanyn was so swoon worthy and eventually wears her down and they form the sweetest connection.
The futuristic aspect of this series as a whole has been really fun. I really enjoyed Catla and Tanyn's build up of being together and how protective each of them were for each other. The whole group of friends coming together during a trying time for all the realms really kept me hooked into the story. KA did a great job of mixing the romance of Catla and Tanyn with the drama of the main story. It flowed really great and made me not want to quit reading. There were a few twists I didn't see coming which has me on edge for the next book! So many questions I need answered!

4 stars. Thank you to Kristen and her team for the ARC and gifted physical copy! I'm a huge fan of Kristen's brand of PNR and I'm really really enjoying the Four Realms series. Book 2 features an arranged marriage and Catla Trulock is not feeling it. She's smart, beautiful, and ridiculously rich. And she's also ridiculously angry at her dad for forcing her to marry the king of Sky's Edge. Sure, he's good looking. And the chemistry is off the charts. But Catla is totally against the prospect of a forced union with a guy she didn't pick and barely knows. Sky's Edge can definitely be read as a standalone, but events from the first book definitely trickle into this one, resulting in what seems to be an overarching plot/ bad guy across (what will likely be) all 4 books in the series. I love the found family vibes (we get A LOT of that in this book, which was fantastic), I love that while this is totally PNR, it's also got some very cool futuristic tech, LOVE an arranged marriage trope, and I especially love Catla and Tanyn together. They were super passionate and kind of perfect for one another. Another thing I loved? How excited I am for the next book. I really hope it's between the characters that I think, but regardless, the remaining 2 pairs have such interesting dynamics that I'm excited to see how both romances play out. Plus, Kristen ends things with a pretty big revelation, which I always appreciate. All in all, this series is really scratching my PNR itch. If you read the first books in her The Three series, it's def got that feel, but in an urban fantasy type vibe with a ton of different magical kingdoms.

His backstory was devastating but shaped the King and man he is! And Catla was the not just the right queen but right woman for him!
While exploring their effortless demon love story, the book delved further into the royal conspiracy, setting up the remaining books in the series. And I am intrigued! One thing for sure, there is more angsty royal romance to come! And I can’t wait! 🔥

The Four Realms - ugh I LOVE this series!! Shifters and fae and witches and demons …. It’s complex but in the best way I I devoured Sky’s Edge waaaay too fast. I loved Catla in book one so jumping in with her and Tynan was perfection from start to finish. And as for the other two stories that have yet to be told … well the crumbs in this book weren’t nearly enough! I’ll be counting down until they get here!
