Less than 15% in and I'm already exhausted
There's an arranged marriage..... Ok
She's in a relationship, she has to give up said relationship, her home, her friends, her job, her family, her entire life to marry the king...... My thing is why? Normally in arranged marriages both sides get something.... What's she getting? Why didn't she tell her father no? Idk but the self sacrifice without a fight already has me irritated. All the internal thoughts of all that she'll lose but not even a whisper of protest to her father or the king?
And seriously KA stop straddling the line, it's either PNR or contemporary,pick a side FFS! I've never seen demons comming and doing facials and what the fuck ever vain and valid shit you just have these females just existing doing while the men are filled with purpose ..... I'm about to bite through my phone that's how irritated I am 🥴

I really enjoyed the world KA created in this new series. I just wish it had more of the angst and relationship drama that I’ve come to love in most of her books. the conflict and climax felt a bit rushed and underwhelming for me. still, I’m interested to see where the series goes, especially with Gayle and Cormac! their story sounds like it might have more of the angst I’m craving, and I can’t wait to get to theirs!

I love KA. It absolutely pains me to do this, but this book was hell.
If you have doubts about reading this book, don't do it. It was worse than terrible.
I read super fast, so if I don't like something about a book, I usually just power through and finish it as long as I'm minimally entertained.
So when I say I DNF'd this, I mean this is in the less than 5% of books I have abandoned IN MY WHOLE LIFE. It made me angry
I don't even know where to start. I have so many things to say that this review could become ridiculously long, so I'll stick to the things that drove me absolutely insane:
- Heroines in a paranormal romance worrying about SOCIAL MEDIA??? WHAT IS THIS NIGHTMARE?
- How many times are you going to use the word "mega"? I was so fucking angry every time I saw it. DON'T YOU HAVE ANY OTHER WORDS IN YOUR DICTIONARY? Are you intentionally trying to make your heroines sound stupid and vain?
- Super insta-love with basically zero conflict between the main characters.
- The male "kings" are worried about politics, government, security, and international conflicts.
- The heroines are worried about their males, their friends and — LET'S NOT FORGET — shopping, dresses, cocktails decorating, and sex.
How fcking insulting is that. I can t believe this was written by a woman
If this is the new direction of her books, I am absolutely not here for it. I have not loved her books for awhile. And these one was just afwul. Unfollowed, and I won't be reading any more.

I'm thinking and hoping it will read better when I do the re-read before the next book.

I did like it, but I was a little bored. The setup, made sense, sort of, but well...I don't know. I'm glad it went how it went, I'll just say that.
There was just a lot to keep track of and I guess because there wasn't a lot going on with the couple it took over. And truthfully, the drama with the others was more interesting then a lot going on with the main couple and I hate that their books aren't out!
I don't know. I just know when I finished it I didn't feel satisfied or something.

Sky’s Edge was amazing! I hung on every word as Catla and Tanyn came together. I loved the push-and-pull between them, their fiery chemistry, and the overarching storyline that continues throughout the series. There were excellent details, great world-building, and surprises along the way that had me on the edge of my seat. After finishing, I immediately wanted to do a reread. I am loving the Four Realms series!
Catla and Tanyn were fantastic characters. She’s a half-demon with a big heart but can be stubborn and was not happy with the idea of an arranged marriage. Tanyn knows what he wants, and that’s Catla. I loved Tanyn’s pursuit of her and how sweet he could be, and how Catla tried to put him off. I could feel the tension and underlying passion between them, I couldn’t wait for everything to come to a head. I loved the build as their feelings grew, they started to open up, and the moment when the heat kicked in. I loved the back-and-forth between them and the growth they both experienced.
I adored all of their friends and the different relationships and bonds. I am excited about the couples that have been set up and the twists and turns that were learned along the way. I loved them all coming together in the midst of chaos. I liked meeting more of Tanyn’s friends and those he considered family. I loved what they brought to the story and the special moments that were created. I also enjoyed learning the dynamics and nuances of the demon world and understanding Catla's relationship with her father.
I am loving this futuristic fantasy world Kristen Ashley has created. There was drama and tension with an incredible build, and I was all about it. I also loved the lighter scenes that added a lot of entertainment value as well as heartfelt moments that had me choking up. While this is technically a standalone, I do suggest reading these books in order. The world building is exceptional, and you don’t want to miss a thing. While I am thrilled Catla and Tanyn got their happily ever after, I’m even more excited about what’s up next. With that ending, I need answers! Can’t wait! Loved this!

Welcome back to The Four Realms!
Set in a futuristic paranormal fantasy setting, in Sky's Edge, we get a newly appointed Kind named Tanyn. He's a loner, quiet, strikingly handsome, protective and chill until he's not. His mate is none other than the beautiful half demon Catla. She's very strong minded, driven in life and she's in an arranged marriage with Tanyn which she's very vocal about not wanting this to happen. The story took a little time to pull me in, especially with the rocky dynamic between the two but once their relationship shifted, I was hooked.
They play off each other very well and their chemistry, once it clicks, is MEGA. While the drama surrounding the other characters kept things interesting, the story also builds on the other couples dynamics and how they will have a roll into whatever is being set in motion.
As the story goes, there are things being revealed and other things slowly being revealed. Destiny? Fate? Prophecy?
Emotional, romantic and full of intrigue, Sky's Edge was such an addictive return to The Four Realms. If arranged marriage, slow burn tension, strong friendships and genuinely good MMC's is your jam, then most definitely put this on your TBR or better yet get this now!

Thank you Kristen Ashley and Tanaka for the eARC per street team. Gahh, I had to re-read Book 1 to dive back into this fantasy world.
Catla’s father has finally made true to his word and arranged for her to get married to King Tanyn, the new king of Sky’s Edge. As Catla wants nothing to do with the marriage to start, she tries means to run havoc during her time with Tanyn but he is still determined to marry her. Little by little, he wears her down but circumstances happen that lead to both of them unexpectedly being apart only to realize they do want to be together.
Catla is headstrong and it’s just sweet to see her and Tanyn fall for each other despite being mega opposites. In true KA fashion, the banter is on point, the chemistry is sizzling with a lot of sweetness and some angst thrown around. The emotional vibes are just perfect. I find the romance to be strongly focused on the first 40% of the book as they went through their relationship upheavals with some tiny angst in between. And once it resolves, it becomes a relationship of adults with them understanding each other's strength and vulnerabilities and growing their relationship.
The last 60% of the book heavily focused on the overarching plot. With the events in Book 1 in play, we find that there are greater mysteries afoot with Catla being in danger, so there was some underlying mystery in play. It was also great to see Catla’s strong female friendship with her other friends, Laura, Gayle, and Monica. There were also revelations of who the next two couples will be in the book with their underlying relationship starting in this book. The love they have for one another is so genuine!
As this is a fantasy book, you can expect dragon shifters, witches, fae and demons in play set in an urban futuristic fantasy world. It’s great to see Kristen return to fantasy with the classic KA vibes I love. This one is a solid follow-up and I can't wait to see who the next book will be focused on - teehehehee

A rare 4 stars from me.
First of all I would strongly recommend reading the series in order, its a couple per book but there is a common enemy thread that runs through the series so more is revealed with each book and breadcrumbs are dropped for future books in series.
The heroine is fashion crazy so we get the usual KA description but I've got the point where I just skim those bits.
Ni intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
Some talk of past relationships/partners.
Alot of secondary characters.
History and cultural development.
HEA.
First of all I would strongly recommend reading the series in order, its a couple per book but there is a common enemy thread that runs through the series so more is revealed with each book and breadcrumbs are dropped for future books in series.

Sky's Edge was pretty cool. Book 2 in The Frour Realms was fantastic, the worlds being built are pretty fun. There is a pretty big twist, but no spoilers here. Catla and her King were just made for each other. The story was gripping with great dialogue.

Lemme start by saying this book was so damn good, I did my absolute best to stretch out reading it so I didn’t devour it in one sitting. Let me also say, it was *extremely* difficult not to read it all in one night.
Tanyn & Catla’s story was sooo far beyond what I expected. I went into it with high expectations because of the first book, Night’s Fall, and it exceeded my hopes by A LOT.
Tanyn was so much more than I gathered from the first book. He was just…*chef’s kiss* perfect.
And Catla’s personality was hilarious.
Their love story was also way better than I thought it’d be. Gaahhh, the beginning of the book just had me HOOKED.
This book did the perfect job of continuing the storyline that started in the first book, and added so much intrigue, mystery, murder and mayhem.
Also, let me say, I’m gonna go ahead and start the petition that we get Gayle & Cormac’s story next. I NEEEEED it like I need my next breath, please!
KA has someone gone and done it again, making me overexcited for a book & somehow outdoing herself! Pleeeaaaseee don’t make me wait long for the next in the series, I will simply perish.

Book 2 in Four Realm series is boring, bland chemistry, and weird and not sexy spice. Both Tanny and Catla were so dry toast. And I loved the first book! I’ll wait for reviews on the 3rd book before picking it up. The narration was okay.

Really enjoying this universe! I read this in one day and couldn’t put it down. Both Carla and Tanya were great and I loved the involvement of the side characters. Plus the ending left me wanting the next book ASAP. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

If there is one thing I'm going to always gobble right up, it's an arranged marriage. And an arranged marriage when the FMC hates the MMC but also lusts after him? Yes please. Sprinkle some banter into the mix and I'm putteh! PUTTEH I tells ya.
Now truth me told (hold your pitchforks please), I didn't care for the first book. The dialogue just didn't do it for me and I just struggled to connect with the FMC and MMC? I was honestly a little worried picking this one up, because I was thinking it may be this unique futuristic fantasy world that didn't work for me. So imagine my surprise when everything that didn't work for me in book one, had me giggling and kicking my feet in this one.
Do you SEE what I mean about the banter?
Catla Truelock is an independent woman who doesn't need no man. She especially doesn't need her father telling her who to marry. And she especially doesn't need her father arranging her marriage to the new king of Sky’s Edge. As a demon, she doesn't have a fated mate like her friends, but she was going to at least have a choice in who she marries. And the bossy king would not be her choice. What begins in the first half of this book is the most delicious push and pull between these two that ultimately teased and sizzled until an explosion so hot, I felt like I needed a cigarette after reading it. Talk about your epic hate sex. But I digress.
While I ate up the romance and loved the chemistry between Catla and Tanyn, I was equally hooked on the story. And the story kept me glued to the pages until the end. If I thought I was rabid for a certain rejected mate in the first book, I am absolutely FERAL for their book now. And I swear if it's not next, I may start a riot. But I digress again.
I am not so hooked on this unique futuristic fantasy that blends scifi with romantasy and I cannot wait until the next book!

Okay, I’m going to tell you something, but you can’t be a jerk about it,” I said.

If there is one thing I'm going to always gobble right up, it's an arranged marriage. And an arranged marriage when the FMC hates the MMC but also lusts after him? Yes please. Sprinkle some banter into the mix and I'm putteh! PUTTEH I tells ya.
Now truth me told (hold your pitchforks please), I didn't care for the first book. The dialogue just didn't do it for me and I just struggled to connect with the FMC and MMC? I was honestly a little worried picking this one up, because I was thinking it may be this unique futuristic fantasy world that didn't work for me. So imagine my surprise when everything that didn't work for me in book one, had me giggling and kicking my feet in this one.

Catla Truelock is an independent woman who doesn't need no man. She especially doesn't need her father telling her who to marry. And she especially doesn't need her father arranging her marriage to the new king of Sky’s Edge. As a demon, she doesn't have a fated mate like her friends, but she was going to at least have a choice in who she marries. And the bossy king would not be her choice. Sky's Edge is the second instalment in the adult romantasy series, The Four Realms. Each novel follows a separate couple but exists in the same world and is building into a larger story so it is recommended to read in order. Written primarily in first person POV, the story follows Catla, a half demon, half human who finds herself in an arranged marriage to Tanyn, the new demon king of Sky’s Edge. In demon customs she is meant to spend time with him to test the bond, a bond she is none too happy about, regardless of how handsome this aloof male is...yet some catches and when it becomes clear there is a target on Catla's back Tanyn now has two tasks at hand - to convince Catla to see how perfect they are for each other...and to stop the dark forces seeking to end her life. Catla must decide if she is willing to give up what she knows for a future with Tanyn or will she find the crown is too much to bear?
This is classic Kristen Ashley, romantasy style!
Catla is a woman who has built a rhythm to her life that is shaken up in this novel. I admired how much she kept things together and sought to do good with the opportunities she had. She has a bit of self doubt that makes her second guess things but she grows throughout the journey and I loved that for her.
Tanyn is a gruff and aloof male who very much keeps his cards close to his chest. He knows exactly what he wants but the way he goes about winning Catla in the beginning creates problems. He also has a bad reaction to her rejection. When he is confident in their love, though, he is a man down bad!
In terms of spice I would place this novel at 3 spicy peppers out of 5 spicy peppers. There are about 10 spicy scenes in this book but they vary in detail and explicitness - some being vague references and other being full scenes. The first scene appears around the 35% mark. The spice leans more towards romance with a focus on feeling. I liked how the spice was used to highlight the draw between them and then as it progressed it was used to further their connection and intimacy.
The story itself had a bit of a rough start for me in terms of getting me connected. I struggled with how much Catlin opposed things and Tanyn's coldness to the point I was worried they were not meant to be endgame. There is miscommunication that created some great tension and I appreciated how it didn't draw things out too long but that reunion was everything. I appreciated getting time to settle into the world once things kicked off and, as always, animal companions are everything. I am curious about the additional conflicts with other characters that moved along because they have me desperate to know how those stories will continue because they are MESSY. I liked that Catla and Tanyn settle into this comfortability and they become supports for their friends and family for a section of the novel. This does slow the story down a bit for them but, as always, Kristen hits off with a climatic twist that shakes up this world and I want to see where this goes so much! The ending is sweet for our main couple while also keeping us on our toes for what more is to come!
Overall, a good sequel and I look forward to keep reading!

Y'all. So I'm on KA's early reading team, and most of you know by now that I'm always at the front of the line to read and review her latest stories. But Night's Fall was different. She dropped that one out of the blue--no press, no fanfare, and... no early readers. I received a copy, of course, but I had a lot going on at the moment and I didn't get to it. Cue me of a few weeks ago, receiving the early reader copy of this book, Sky's Edge. Ope, I thought. It was time to get my act together so I could read this latest installment.
None of this context matters, really, except for the fact that it's important you know that I DIDN'T know what I was missing. I didn't realize that the Four Realms series is one of KA's absolute BEST on so many different levels. And I didn't realize that it was going to bring out some of my new favorite KA-verse characters.
From shifters to demons, we've seeing some interesting romantasy tropes and paranormal traits here in this world. It's got it all: hot princes, sexy shenanigans, headstrong-yet-mature FMCs, and most important of all--a good plot with a lot going for it.
You can come for the great characters... Catla and Tanyn are both fantastic and their love story is even better.
But what I encourage you to come for is this cool world and plot... Which feels like a fun spin on the vibes of Sarah J Maas' Crescent City (think all the best human-hybrid magic people, but with Big Macs and computers) with a dash of the futuristic sci-fi (they've got FANCY tech) and a dose of the classic fated mates.
Truly a fantastic entry into what has quickly risen to one of my favorite series by this author. Don't miss out!

This is Demon King Tanyn Firefierce, and thirty-one year old, half demon / art gallery director Catla Truelock’s story line. SKY’S EDGE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but recommend reading the series in order as there is an ongoing premise throughout.
SOME BACKGROUND: There are Four Realms ( Night’s Fall, Dawn’s Break, Sky’s Edge,Land’s End), once at war, now at a tentative peace that is threatened by an unknown source.
Told from first person perspective (Catla) SKY’S EDGE follows the arranged relationship and impending marriage between Demon King Tanyn Firefierce, and thirty-one year old, half demon / art gallery director Catla Truelock. Tanyn Firefierce needed a queen to help rule the realm of Sky’s Edge but from the outset Catla was at odds with her new direction in life. An independent woman whose attitude did nothing to ingratiate herself into Tanyn’s world was felt but all who loved him but Catla’s attitude may have pushed Tanyn too far. Often immature and testy, Catla found herself on the outside looking in. The $ex scenes are erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Kristen Ashley could release a 700-page book about a man reorganising a garage and I would arrive with snacks.
She is THE OG for me. The author who made me want to scream about books publicly in the first place, and a huge part of why I ever started reviewing. So every time she gives me a new world, a new alpha, a new woman to become clinically attached to, there is a little part of me that goes right back to being that reader discovering her for the first time.
And Sky’s Edge gave me THAT feeling.
CATLA, YOU FUCKING DIVA.
This woman gets handed an arranged marriage to a demon king and instead of politely accepting her royal fate she practically makes sabotaging the courtship a recreational activity. I adored her immediately. She is headstrong, funny, dramatic, stubborn as hell, knows exactly who she is, and gives Tanyn absolutely NOTHING for free.
Unfortunately for Catla, Tanyn is a Kristen Ashley man.
And I KNOW THESE MEN.
That confidence. That arrogance. That “I have already decided you are mine, now I’m waiting for you to catch up” bullshit that has been ruining my life for YEARS. Tanyn felt like he had pieces of so many classic KA alphas baked into him, except now we have made one a DEMON KING because apparently my standards needed to become even less achievable.
Watching him slowly wear Catla down was fucking delicious because underneath all that kingly confidence is a man who becomes so stupidly certain about his woman. Once these two click, they CLICK, and that familiar KA combination of protection, devotion, banter, heat, and an alpha who would rearrange the realm itself for the woman he loves had me grinning like an idiot.
And I loved how much bigger the world became around them. The danger hanging over the Four Realms, the friendships between the women, the returning characters, and all the tiny pieces being planted for whoever is about to emotionally fuck me up next. There are future-couple crumbs in here that already have me gnawing on the bars of my enclosure.

Sky's Edge is Kristen Ashley’s latest foray into her sci-fi/paranormal romance realm, and it definitely delivers on her signature alpha energy, even if the pacing takes a bit of a detour.
First off, our hero, Tannyn—the King of Sky’s Edge—is absolute perfection. He is full demon, sexy as hell, and the ultimate "alpha of alphas." He commands every room he walks into, but what makes him stand out is his hidden vulnerability. Sent away to a frosty icefield island as a child after his father banished him and his mother, he survived against all odds and reclaimed his crown. Beneath his fierce, charismatic exterior lies a hero who just needs the right person to see his scars—and that person is Catla.
Catla is a half-demon from Night’s Fall, and she is everything you want in a Kristen Ashley heroine: sassy, stubborn, hot-headed, and fiercely independent. When her father arranges a marriage contract between her and Tannyn, she resists with everything she’s got, trying to convince him she isn't fit to be queen. But Tannyn knows what he wants. What starts as a forced arrangement quickly turns into an intense emotional bond and an unbreakable partnership. Catla turns out to be the exact mix of strength and sensitivity Tannyn needs to heal from his past and navigate his new reign. Their chemistry is explosive, and his possessiveness over her is top-tier.
Where the book got a little confusing for me was the structure and pacing. Unlike typical KA romances where the slow burn or emotional build-up spans the whole book, Tannyn and Catla fall in love surprisingly early. Once they lock it down, the plot shifts heavily toward realm politics, external threats, mind games, and world-ending danger across all four realms. While I loved seeing them face adversity together as a solid unit, I found myself wishing for more focused romantic time between the leads rather than the heavy fantasy/sci-fi plot taking over. The secondary cast of kings, princes, and their mates adds a lot of delicious, messy drama, but there is a lot going on at once.
It’s a strong, action-packed read with a fantastic dynamic between the main characters. Just a heads-up: you definitely need to read the first book in the series before jumping into this one. The world-building, sci-fi/paranormal elements, and realm dynamics won't make sense otherwise. If you love a fiercely loyal couple battling the odds together alongside classic KA alpha heroes and stubborn heroines, it's well worth the pick-up!

Where the book got a little confusing for me was the structure and pacing. Unlike typical KA romances where the slow burn or emotional build-up spans the whole book, Tannyn and Catla fall in love surprisingly early. Once they lock it down, the plot shifts heavily toward realm politics, external threats, mind games, and world-ending danger across all four realms. While I loved seeing them face adversity together as a solid unit, I found myself wishing for more focused romantic time between the leads rather than the heavy fantasy/sci-fi plot taking over. The secondary cast of kings, princes, and their mates adds a lot of delicious, messy drama, but there is a lot going on at once.
It’s a strong, action-packed read with a fantastic dynamic between the main characters. Just a heads-up: you definitely need to read the first book in the series before jumping into this one. The world-building, sci-fi/paranormal elements, and realm dynamics won't make sense otherwise. If you love a fiercely loyal couple battling the odds together alongside classic KA alpha heroes and stubborn heroines, it's well worth the pick-up!

Sky’s Edge is the second book in The Four Realms paranormal romance series by Kristen Ashley. This is Catla and Tanyn’s book. There is an ongoing storyline about the leading characters in each of these books that I am guessing will come to an epic conclusion in the fourth book. We met most everyone in the first book, so I would highly suggest reading Night’s Fall before you begin this story. It’s not only a great book, but you’ll understand more about what has happened and what is happening while reading this one.
Tanyn is the perfect leading man. He’s hot, bossy, growlly and super protective of those he cares about. He can also be sweet and generous and I loved him from the very beginning. Tanyn is the new king of Sky’s Edge and knows immediately that he wants Catla as his queen.
Catla is a trip! She’s very independent and isn’t excited about the fact that her demon dad has arranged a marriage for her with Tanyn. I liked Catla’s character, although I was a little annoyed with her at the beginning. As you can imagine, there are some ups and downs as Catla and Tanyn are getting to know one another. They are both strong personalities which oftentimes clash when one (or both) are too stubborn to give in.
I’m loving seeing all the couples that are together (as well as the ones who aren’t couples yet). KA has created another great world and written a story where you feel like you are right there in the action and living with these people as they encounter all that happens. Both Catla and Tanyn have good friends and all of these people add something to the story.
I’m trying to guess what will happen next as I'm reading and was totally shocked at something that happened towards the end. Shocker on the true identity of that person. I cannot wait to see whether we get Land’s End or Dawn’s Break next. I’m pulling for all of these characters and looking forward to their happy endings. I'm also pulling for the slow painful death of other characters and really want that badly!
As always, another great KA book. She is an automatic purchase for me and a favorite author whose books I can read and re-read over and over and still pick up something new.
Of note, there is a Glossary and Timeline at the end of the story which provides a list of the different realms, the characters from each and definition of some of the terms used in this magical world.

Catla Truelock, a half-human, half-demon art gallery owner in Night’s Fall, is perfectly happy with her life until her father decides it’s time she found herself a husband or he’ll find one for her. When she isn’t quick enough, she suddenly finds herself promised to King Tanyn Catla has no interest in marrying a demon, becoming queen, or moving to a realm where her family is judged for the actions of their ancestors. Determined to sabotage the arrangement and is determined to sabotage the arrangement by making herself as disagreeable as possible. Unfortunately for her, Tanyn thinks she’s exactly what he needs his queen to be. However not everyone agrees with him and their forced engagement becomes even more dangerous when Catla receives a death threat.
Sky’s Edge was an engaging, easy read, and for me, the romance was the strongest part. Catla and Tanyn are both stubborn, independent characters who know what they want, which makes their chemistry and banter particularly fun. Tanyn is very much a classic Kristen Ashley hero, all alpha male, overprotective, and convinced he knows best while Catla is equally determined not to make things easy for him. Their push-and-pull dynamic, chemistry, banter, and slow-burn attraction stand out as they clash and gradually come together works well, and I enjoyed watching their relationship develop. There’s also plenty happening beyond the romance, with a larger conspiracy surrounding the throne of Sky’s Edge and the rightful ruler and some intriguing developments involving the wider Four Realms storyline. The secondary characters also add to the story without overshadowing the main couple, while setting things up for future books. The overarching plot is giving me some Rising series vibes which is one of my personal favourites, which is probably why I’m particularly interested in seeing where the bigger story goes. There’s clearly a lot happening behind the scenes, including a mysterious group determined to prevent the rulers of the four realms from finding their true mates. Then there’s the introduction of a long-hidden society of female warriors - very much giving Amazon vibes - which adds another interesting layer to the mythology.

when the sky falls, when it crumbles …
As I’m reading this, the skyfall song keeps sounding off in my head. It’s hilarious. The story is dramatic and I suspect that’s why I have an internal soundtrack for this book. Based on the prior book? We all knew there would be some bumps in the road for this romantic couple. The prince wants to marry and claim his mate- largely because he knows more of the facts about their connection than she does. He absolutely rushes the courtship in an attempt to “lock her down” (I can’t believe I’m saying courtship lol? But this is a fantasy story which takes on old world history and legendary romance.)
There is a lot of back and forth and some breaking up. As serious as their situation is, they both engage in some childish, petty, youthful behaviors. They needed a “snap out of it moment” For all the couples this comes in the form of assassination attempts. There is a plot to break apart the couples mostly through death.
The couples. Lot of shenanigans there. Seems some of these guys have bespelled their fated mate to “not know their mate” …how romantic. I am cringing. Good luck over coming that.
At this point, I’m really looking forward to rereading the first book. That guy knew what he was doing - I’m probably just not remembering the obnoxious silly things he did when smitten- but looking back I feel like he handled his fate with clearer intent and a bit more romance.
That being said, this couple does find their way. They do get a nice love story ultimately. They are blessed with an animal sanctuary for lynxes and in the end two gorgeous kitties. The prince also has the most amazing dog who gets decent page count in the book; to my great satisfaction- when it comes to animals this book is 10/10 purrrfection.

I really enjoyed this one. The push pull of angst and feels at the start. The will they, won't they. I was so drawn in. It's not long until their connection begins to develop, after a shocking turn of event if I do say so myself, and then it gets hot. The pull was there and I was here for it!
This series is one that builds to tell a story, so it must be read in order. Not only did we get to see Catla and Tanyn's romance develop, but we got to see more of book one's couple (Aleksei and Laura), as well as get glimpses into the next two couples. And I for one am SO here for those stories. I mean, she took a potion!!!??? I AM SO READY for that one!!!
Where I struggled a bit with the 'future' world set up in book one... I didn't here. It was such a fun vibe instead. And it's made me want to go back and revisit Night's Fall now that I have a much better appreciation for it. Such a unique story world, told in a way none other than Kristen Ashley can do. I had a great time reading it and think others will too!

A lot going on
I have read all of this authors fantasy books & quite a few of her other series. Basically most of what she's written I've read. Although some times her descriptions of rooms, places, items, etc are over board, I highly enjoy her stories. This is the first series I've read from her that has a cliffhanger. I'm So not a fan. Especially because there's a lot going on in this one and therefore a ton of unanswered questions. We'll probably have to wait a year for the next one like we did for this one. Not happy about that.
The story picks up where the last book ended ... Catla telling Laura about her arranged marriage to Tanyn. We not only have their story going in in this book, we also have Gayle's story getting some more traction. (Last book some thing started with Gayle & then shortly stopped.) Also another couple is added to the mix. There is a lot of action, suspense, drama & of course sex scenes throughout the book. It mostly kept me engaged. However, I didn't have too hard of a time putting the book down during certain parts, but mostly I was stuck within it.
Why 4 stars? Mainly because of the Cliffhanger. Another reason is too much wasted content on describing objects, rooms, etc. This could've been done short & sweet with using the extra word count available on the story itself.
Overall, I do highly recommend this series. If you're not a Cliffhanger fan, wait to read this series until the other book, (if it's the last one coming out), is released.

Please note that with every Kristen Ashley book, I fall more in love with the way she writes MCs. The women are always badass in their own fields; whether that’s running midnight undercover jobs, rocking style while in a remote cabin, or being a literal princess heiress, you can find strength in all her versions of femininity. Perfectly paired are her alpha males; always commanding, deeply caring, and as always: hot. But what is something that’s consistent across all her worlds is a continuous plot within the series. And boy am I sucker for modern fantasy; especially the Four Realms she’s created.
Continuing straight from book 1; Night’s Fall; go read and come back cause baby three will be spoilers here. Catla is our diva demon princess stuck with an archaic tradition: arranged marriage to the ever-brooding Tanyn, one of the realms’ new kings. And I know,
“oh the horror; betrothed to a king” but Catla is stubborn to the max (she is half-demon after all). But what I like most is that KA doesn’t drag it out; miss Catla falls quick and hard. Are there bumps down the road for her and Tanyn? Yes. Do they both stumble and sometimes make the wrong decision? Yes. Is there a greater purpose to all this? Also yes.
As is tradition with any KA series, there’s a plot that goes across all books and The Four Realms series is no exception. The attack on Laura and Aleksei (book 1) was only the beginning. As the kings, queens, princes, and princesses all collide, there’s a mightier villain after them all. And as history comes to light, everything we learned in book 1 is just the tip of the iceberg. And that iceberg has caves and tunnels full of secrets. While Catla and Tanyn’s story is sexy, powerful, and filled with feel-good moments, I’m so invested in what could be happening in the realms. Whispers of fate, repeated history, hidden villainy, and secrets between mates: I am fascinated to find out how this all plays out.
