Kept by the Pack

Rate this book
I went out for a drink. I came home claimed.

New start. No complications.
That was the promise I made myself when I came back to Driftwood Cove.

Then I walk into Bar 2.0 and meet him.

Knox—Six-foot-something of broody, ex–big city Alpha with eyes like he’s seen too much and a voice that settles low in my stomach.
He says he’s the new sheriff.
He doesn’t say he’s about to wreck my peace.

One game of pool turns into one kiss.
One kiss turns into my Omega spiraling straight toward heat.

And just when I think I can handle one dominant, protective Alpha—

There’s Liam.
The cinnamon-scented barista who used to knot me in the backseat of my car and still looks at me like I’m unfinished business.

And Maddox.
My firefighter best friend with pine on his skin and loyalty in his bones—who’s suddenly watching me like he’s done pretending.

I didn’t mean to scent-match the town’s new sheriff.
I definitely didn’t mean to want my old almost-pack back.

But my body doesn’t care about clean starts.

It wants hands.
It wants teeth.
It wants to be claimed until I forget my own name.

And if three possessive Alphas think they can circle me without consequences?

They better be ready to kneel.

Because this Omega is done running.

Kept by the Pack is a steamy MFMM Omegaverse romance featuring heat, knotting, possessive Alphas, second chances, and a small coastal town that doesn’t believe in subtle. No shifting—just fated mates, fierce devotion, and the kind of spice that fogs up truck windows.

I wanted to like this one and it did start out that way.

This book falls into a few different things that would have been good with a different execution. We have the start of the book with our FMC Millie who has her two best friends Liam and Maddox. Liam who's her roommate comes across as a great best friend, someone who adores her and is supportive. Maddox is the silent friend who secretly pines over her. We also meet the new sheriff Knox in town who's come from Seattle after a divorce and has a one-night stand with our FMC. We see the world of the small town coming back together after a fire and working on rebuilding. People are still healing and now there's a new issue that happens due to the fire and damage to the roads.

So the things I found during the story just didn't work out for me in this one.
Our MMCs are jealous. All of them. Not one time during the book did anyone NOT have a jealous moment and think of being a pack until about 84%. One of the MMCs even walked out on Millie after finding out she slept with someone, when no one was in a relationship or had any agreement to be exclusive.

Conversation during sex. This wasn't just sweet words or those sexy things you WANT to hear during sex. Nope, this was a straight up conversation. That just didn't work for me here. These are Alpha's and an Omega. Instinct takes control. It seems VERY out of place to just be like "hey what are you thinking about?" and start just conversing. Save it for after you've been knotted and locked together and don't have anything else to do besides bask and talk.

An Alpha who doesn't have a knot swell. That was a first for me. Because of emotions? It was making love rather than primal instinct/need. This just seemed off to me in the theme of an Omegaverse.

There was never any talk about bonding, biting, claiming. But then she gets bit and bonded. There is no touching on this though outside of the one moment. I feel like this was a very missed opportunity to really flush out and bring them all together. Let alone only ONE of them bonded her.

When she was in heat it honestly felt like NONE OF THE GUYS AT ALL knew anything about Omega's. Then again throughout the story it's VERY briefly mentioned of pack's but then these guys all seem to just seemingly think of pack's, of being a pack or anything. It threw me off after having read many of her other books and enjoying them.

There was a brief scene where things didn't match up. She has a blanket pooling at her feet but then it's suddenly wrapped around her. Sadly, this was a book that I had to persist through because I already made it so far.

Were there sweet moments? Yes, but the absurd level of jealousy in this story, the lack of pack dynamic and understanding just didn't work here. I feel like the story may have been rushed. I will say that I did like the cameo appearances we got of the previous pack guys. I might pick up the next book for this but at the same time I might cut my loses on this series.

I am sick of books being advertised with lies. This wouldn't be a problem here but the AUTHOR is the one who shared the false ad. I don't usually tell me negative opinions but i'm tired of being suckered in by lies..

First, why in the authors note does it say " heat level? Let's just say not for the faint of heart"? There is barely any heat. What heat is there is mostly fade to black. There isn't even any heat until like 60-70% into the story. The author needs to get out more if she thinks this was even close to spicy.

Secondly, there were absolutely 0 relationship development. 3/4 were already best friends but they had no chemistry. Half of the book was her pining over the new guy. 10% of the book was her sad about a totally unrelated guy. Bestie 2 says he loves her and shes all "I've never thought of you that way but I love you too and instantly want to spend forever together even though iv loved bestie 1 for years and never wanted to get serious with him"

Which brings me to 3. It's not mentioned or even hinted at what's the problem until halfway through the book! It really brings you out of the story because you just feel clueless. She's too busy pining over someone not relevant to the story.

I would not recommend this story. There are so many great stories out there and this is not one of them and maybe the author should consider not posting false ads about her stories for now on. I personally will not be reading anymore from them!

This nice little Omegaverse book was an angsty one 😥. We have Millie the omega and her best friends Liam … who is friend who used to have benefits, and Maddox … who has been staying in the background, in love with Millie but not wanting to get in Liam’s way.

They have been hiding their feelings so not ruin their friendship in case things don’t work out. Then enter Knox, the sheriff who Millie has a one night stand without knowing who he is. Well, Knox is finally the catalyst to set everything in motion, and this was a fun ride.

My only l issue is that the guys on the cover don’t match their descriptions in the book. Liam has dark hair and Maddox is blonde, yet on the cover the blonde is wearing an apron … when Liam is the one that works in the coffee shop 🤷

Poor

I have a ton of issue with this book. The writing is decent, that’s the only upside. The story itself is pretty bad. I cannot describe fully what is wrong with this novel. That, in itself, would take a year. None of these people communicate. Until (and I counted) 88% in the book, everyone is crying and mad and angsty about it. They go through 1 heat, and now at 97% everything is fine. Is there communication? No. Do they discuss the fact that they’re now a pack? No. Millie is just in heat and that solves everything, I guess. Millie being hung up on Knox having a kid and a different life? Never addressed. Maddox being able to knot his FwB but not Millie? Never explained (I want to say it’s a metaphor for ED, but then surely it’d be the opposite? He can’t knot “the love of his life” but he can with some random hookup?). The scars and pain Maddox is constantly in? Never fixed. The supplements? Who cares. The dad situation with Liam? Relegated to the last 2 pages of the book. Any actual plot for this book is left to the wayside so the author could force these people together. There is 0 chemistry between any of them and this book is written like there is this great love story but we’re not allowed to see it. I truly think this author fleshed out the characters in their head and just never put it to paper. It’s easy to do that as a writer. You know your character better than anyone else ever, their likes and dislikes, and you don’t explain it because to you - it’s redundant. To us? The reader? It’s vital. And this book missed that mark.

The more I write this review, the more mad I get. Because there is just so much that missed. I think this was a waste of time and a waste of my limited borrows. 0/5 stars.

This manuscript shows clear potential, but it would greatly benefit from a strong editorial pass and substantial revision. There is the foundation of a compelling story here; however, a number of issues prevent it from feeling fully formed.

1. Timeline and continuity
The timeline is particularly confusing. There are no clear indicators of day or time changes, so scenes often feel as though they are occurring on the same day when they are not. At one point, a character refers to events from “2–3 weeks ago,” yet based on how the timeline is written, those events appear to have occurred only days earlier. These inconsistencies pulled me out of the story and made it difficult to follow the progression of events.

2. Character development and consistency
The character dynamics need refinement. The story features three Alpha males and one Omega: two Alphas are lifelong best friends with the Omega, while the third Alpha is new to the small town. Unfortunately, the Omega is not a particularly likable or well-written character. She comes across as selfish and lacks many of the traits typically associated with a compelling Omega protagonist.
Additionally, the two lifelong best-friend Alphas are portrayed as telling each other everything, yet both conceal major secrets—specifically, that they have been in love with the same Omega for years without ever saying anything. This contradiction undermines their established bond and strains credibility.

3. Age discrepancies
The characters’ ages do not align with their backstories. The Omega is said to be around 20 years old, yet her history suggests someone closer to 25. This also creates practical problems—such as her inability to legally enter a bar—which could be easily resolved by aging her up to at least 21. The same issue applies to the Alpha characters: they are supposedly the same age, yet their professional experience suggests they have been in their careers far longer than their ages allow.

4. The storm and its aftermath
The story opens with a massive storm, which might be more believable if explicitly described as a hurricane. However, the narrative later picks up long after the storm without any clear indication of how much time has passed. It also stretches belief that an entire town—especially critical infrastructure like a hospital—would still be without power and relying solely on generators for an extended period.

5. Medication shortages
Even allowing for fictional biological rules, the medication subplot lacks plausibility. As someone familiar with managing chronic conditions, it is hard to believe that an Omega would allow herself to get down to a single pill before thinking about refilling an essential prescription. This choice feels unrealistic and poorly thought out, and it weakens the credibility of the character’s decision-making.

6. Omega heat subplot
The subplot in which all Omegas in town conveniently go into heat at the exact same time—causing all Alphas to lose control—feels exaggerated and unnecessary. Instead of raising stakes, it reads as implausible and distracting.

Overall assessment
This story has the potential to become a strong book, but it requires a skilled editor and major rewrites. With clearer timelines, stronger character development, consistent ages, and more realistic world-building, this could evolve into something genuinely compelling.

What I liked- I thought it was realistic that there was some jealousy (*cough* Liam *cough*) until they all talked it out. I loved the relationship between Knox and his daughter, and I thought that the plot about the town running out of medications was apt and engaging.
What I didn’t- ohhhh the wangst! The self-pitying angst in the extreme… There was more wangst than romance and I didn’t like that. Liam had his head firmly inserted in a place a proctologist would be interested in, and it was a real drag. Millie, well, she spent a third of her time in wangst, wondering how Liam was going to react, a third of her time wangsting about how relationships really ruin friendships, and the rest of the time either dwelling in wangxiety or chasing her hormones. The hormone chasing was fun to read about, with some good sexytime and some performance anxiety issues that were very real. But all the wangst was too much to wade through. It was like reading through sticky, burnt toffee.
There are readers out there who are allll about the angst and get excited when a book hits wangst level. I’m not one of them. There were some good things about the book, as outlined above. But on the whole, I found it better than Ambien for making me sleepy.
Cat’s Stats
MMC, FMC, MMC, MMC- Knox, Millie, Liam, and Maddox.
Genre- Why choose, non-shifter Omegaverse
Heat- MF with some MFMM, and no crossing of swords. Explicit, includes knotting. The biological Heat itself was a bit weird because it was almost like the characters were operating on information they had received secondhand about heats, for example, their idea of nesting was to smoosh up the blankets a little for Millie. Generally, a nest is either completely built by the Omega (often using things that smell like their Alpha/s) or built partly by the Alpha and completed by the Omega while they are in heat, in the Omegaverse books I’ve read. The Omega is generally involved on a deep, personal level. I think the author should have just left the “nesting” during the big group heat scene.
Safety? This is a tough one, because Why Choose by definition is not cheating. But not everyone was on board at first with the Why Choose concept, so some partners felt betrayed. This made it feel like cheating was going on.
Bechdel test? Millie might have exchanged a few words with her female boss that didn’t involve references to her son, Liam. But there wasn’t a lot of female friendship bonding in this book.
Triggers- there’s the cheating/not cheating conundrum and some language, plus descriptions of past domestic abuse and abuse of a child, as well as some medium violence.
Tropes- Friends to Lovers, Instalove, Why Choose/RH, One Night Stand, Firemen Are Hot, It’s a Fair Cop, Single Dad, Roommate Romance, Heat, Knotting, ABO Dynamics.

Lets start with what the book did well. Quinn's artful prose paints a picture with few words. Like when Millie is explaining how her life has changed to due to the fires. Or the assessments Knox makes about the town and it's community.

The depth of each character feels very grounded in reality. It is clear what each character wants, feels, and fears. Why their interactions either hurts or helps each other.

Now for what made me not finish the book.

Honestly, it's the fact that Millie continues to just coast in her own life. She's too afraid to make any concrete decisions. It feels like the men in her life are supposed to swoop in and make her decisions for her.

When she thought Liam and Maddox were going to no longer be her friends because of her choice to sleep with someone else, I thought that would be her wake up call. That she'd realize that her friendships weren't actually serving her and helping her thrive, but a crutch for her to maintain in limbo.

I was waiting for her to pull on her big girl panties and go do something brave for herself- leave town to get a job or restart school at maximum, or admit her feelings and fears at minimum. Instead I'm stuck at the middle of the book and it's still just 3 men pining for a woman who is too afraid to admit what she actually wants.

I hit the halfway mark in the book and I just feel frustrated. It doesn't feel like anything is going to be resolved or progress. Which, I personally don't enjoy in a book. I also am frustrated that Millie doesn't have any female relationships that are safe for her to turn to for advice or comfort. That is truly disappointing for a woman who has built a life in her community. Which kind of gives me the ick when it comes to this complicated tension between her and her best friends.

I don't have the patience to keep reading to see how it all works out. Which is why I chose not to finish.

I give an overall rating of three stars because the characters are solid, the prose is great, and the underlying context of a city rebuilding after a fire is an interesting plot point. Other readers may enjoy the book and see it through to it's conclusion.

A Tangled Web of Hearts in Driftwood

I really enjoyed this story from Nora. Driftwood Cove sounds absolutely beautiful and like the kind of place I would love to live.

Millie is a gentle, kind, and selfless soul. She volunteers and is a staple in the community, especially after a fire destroyed much of the town. Once the quiet town librarian, she now works as a barista while continuing to support those around her. One evening, after her best friends leave, she finds herself at the local pub where a steamy one-night stand sets off a chain of events that sends ripples through her life.

Liam is Millie’s best friend and her on-again, off-again friend with benefits. He’s a sweet man who carries scars from a difficult childhood. Maddox, a firefighter, is a bit rough around the edges but ultimately a great guy with a big heart. Both men have deep feelings for Millie. Then there’s Knox, the new sheriff in town stern, dependable, and an all-around good man.

This group definitely has their share of problems that cause some serious tension. Liam despises the police and sees Knox’s presence as the ultimate betrayal. He also struggles with jealousy after Millie spends a night with someone else. Maddox hides his true feelings from both of his friends, afraid of complicating things even further. Knox, a father who moved hours away for a fresh start, ends up caught in the middle of this tangled situation. And Millie is the woman none of them can forget; unintentionally causing more chaos than she ever means to.

I was so glad to see this pack work through both the small and the huge obstacles standing in their way. They truly became a phenomenal pack, and I loved them together so much.

I can’t wait to read more about the omegas of Driftwood Cove and the packs that will claim them.

Kept by the Pack is a small town omegaverse why choose romance. It’s set in Driftwood Cove, a small fictional town dense with alphas and omegas. The FMC Millie is a 20-year old librarian who’s secretly in love with both her best friends, Liam and Maddox. But when the new sheriff, Knox, arrives in town, she ends up having a one night stand with him, and can’t seem to get him off her mind afterwards.
I liked that this book was more slow burn than other Quinn‘s books I’ve read. I also liked Knox‘s relationship with his daughter. What I didn’t enjoy that much was that the young characters were pretty immature, and a lot of the problems could’ve been avoided simply by communicating more openly. It was kind of hard to relate to Millie, what with all the angst she was carrying. There was also a lot of jealousy and possessiveness for an omegaverse novel. The spice level was pretty low at the start due to the slower paced romance, but towards the end things heated up considerably.

This was one of the most frustrating, disjointed books I've read in the past several years. It's an omegaverse book and packs are a thing, but quite literally 85% of the book is the MMCs treating the FMC like trash because she has feelings for more than one person...even though they're all just friends and she isn't committed to anyone. The description in the ads for this really doesn't match the book at all, to the point where I wondered if someone who hasn't read it wrote the blurb. The spice is...off. It's almost always under stressful circumstances (a heat spike, she's crying, everyone gets weird after) and never feels like it's because everyone really wants to be there. None of the characters are even the slightest bit happy until the 91% mark. I typically don't mind an angsty omegaverse book, but that's very much not what this was advertised as and I'm just super disappointed.

This book is part of the North Coast Omegaverse and I have read multiple books in the series and by this author but this one was hard for me as it all felt forced and not organic in any way. I know all of these guys are different for the MMCs and all bring something different to the table but I never felt like they reached “pack” level in the book especially since 2 of the 3 guys already know each other (Liam & Maddox) and there felt like no chemistry between them and our FMC Millie. I understand the one night stand but don’t feel how Knox (new sheriff) pulled the whole group together. I feel like there was no communication in this book and the whole alpha/omega dynamics even felt stifled and there was next to no spice in my opinion. There was so much here that could have worked but it just didn’t for me on this one.

This was a lovely romance book. I loved the new pieces and the history pieces throughout the book mentioned ot really added to the story. I loved the multiple perspectives. The fmc is interesting to read about. The mmcs were also interesting. I liked that the book not only focused on thier romance but the rest of their day to day lives and how they affected each other. The book kept my attention throughout it. The romance was very enjoyable to read. I liked the different couple scenes and the scenes of them together. The characters were all likeable and the overall story was also nice to read. I would definitely recommend it for a cute why choose romance. I cant wait to read more by the author.

Why choose?

Millie is single by choice. In the past she had problems with an alpha and the result was she never wanted to be claimed by an alpha. Liam is her roommate and she admires him from a distance, but is it far enough? She works with him at his mom’s bakery. Thalia, her sister, is determined to find a better job for Millie. Her secret crush has his own omega. Millie’s second “friend” is Maddox. He works relentlessly clearing debris from a recent fire. Knox is the last “friend”. He’s the new sheriff in town. He has adopted stepdaughter Clara. He is building a new life in Driftwood Cove. These three dance around each other. All three guys want Millie to themselves. Can they all agree on some type of arrangement as Millie’s heat hits?

Millie slowly tore my heart apart over and over again but I cannot complain about how the pack finally came together. Kept By The Pack was a heart wrenching story of broken people. Broken people taken apart by other broken people and a broken world. My poor little heart didn’t know if it could make it through but I am so happy I did. The character development throughout really made it worth it. I did struggle with some of the timeline of things not lining up quite right for me and I felt like some of the story was missing in a few places. I feel like we really missed out on some of the bonding but I’m so happy the characters figured it out.

Good story, lots of angst. Millie, Liam and Maddox have been friends (but circling their real desires and feelings) for years. They all three seem fairly young and are just hitting the adult years, having life decisions to make. Millie was so afraid of changing their relationships (and adding Knox) that she almost sabotaged everything. She was finally ready to be honest about all her feelings when she goes into heat and the three Alphas have to work together to help her through it. In doing so, they build a family and a pack. High heat, lots of feels, good story.

This was my first foray into Driftwood Cove and “cozy omegaverse” pretty much sums it up! I liked the dynamics of the town and how they are recovering from disaster and coming together as a community. I did enjoy the progression while the pack forms but I wish there would have been a bit more “small town” charm thrown in. The story really focuses on how Millie and Liam have a friendship that is hindering her accepting more and how Maddox denies himself. The formation of a pack doesn’t seem mainstream like in most Omegaverse worlds but each author has their own vision. I am just glad Millie got her HEA that included 3 counterparts! 😜

Another Amazing Omegaverse Romance

This story was captivating from start to finish. I had a hard time putting it down. Millie and her two best friends, Liam and Maddox have a good relationship. Except Liam and Maddox are both in love with her and she keeps running away from it. Maddox keeps his hidden. Then enter a new sheriff in town: Knox. Throw in a one night stand with him for Millie before she knows he’s sheriff and voila, the biggest cluster ever. The guys finally figure out how to work as a team when Millie goes into heat and she had already decided she wasn’t running anymore. What a fabulous story! I can’t wait to read more!

Awww Millie is scared of her feelings for her best friend Alpha Liam who is also her on and off again lover.
Liam loves her, So does his bestie Maddox.
But she is seriously scared of messing up her friendship with Liam so she pushes him away, again and again including running into the arms of older single father Knox who is also the new sheriff in town.
With a suppressant crisis due to a fire looming. Things are going to get hot!
I really enjoyed reading this book. Some small cameos from previous books in the universe. Its a perfect stand alone with a HEA.

this book unfortunately failed to deliver in multiple ways. i feel like the blurb is misleading, and it was just overall a somewhat boring read.
no sense of pack dynamics
no talk of bonding before it happens & only with 1 member of the "pack" and then no talking about it afterward
a lot of inconsistencies throughout the story
i also feel like there was a lot of emphasis on the drool-worthy spice, but it failed the hit the mark for me. there really wasn't much spice, and it wasn't super descriptive or impressive either
idk, maybe i'm being too harsh, i'm just disappointed

Good not Great

The plot is very angst driven and filled with internal struggle. The characters don’t get together until the end and the communication between them is pretty terrible until then. Lots of bottled up feelings and holding back. I found it difficult to really enjoy because there were so few moments of happiness until the end. But if you like the intense struggle until the end then you’ll find this book a great read. The characters are all unique and well rounded. It has a very sweet happy ending.

Ok, I now understand the Omegaverse fandom.
I loved the bond between Knox and his step-daughter. It was sweet, supportive, and fun.
I love that each character was trying to work through their feelings and the situation they were in.
The tension event (outages causing supply issues for certain medicines) was believable and set off some seriously spicy moments.
I'm definitely going to continue with this series and the author's other works. She has a simple yet fun and sassy way of telling her stories that I enjoy!

This was a cute little introduction into omegaverse. It has romance and steam, but it also has a lot of layers inside of it. Our main girl is an Omega who has a one night stand at a bar, but come to find out, the man is the new town sheriff. Not only that, but her best friend’s both have some big feelings about this development. If you enjoy Omegaverse, this might be on the tamer side for you, but it’s still worth a read. If you have never read an Omegaverse, then this is the perfect start to dive into the world.

I really enjoyed this installment in the North Coast Omegaverse. The pack of Millie, Liam, Maddox and Knox were great together, and I'm glad they managed to find their HEA.
This book seemed a little more relaxed than some of the other books in the series, a bit more of a slow burn, but that's not a bad thing.
Once I started the book, I sailed through it very quickly, as it was very easy to read.

This was my first book by Nora and it was such a fun read. Once I started reading, I had to finish the book right away. I loved that it was a reverse harem book and that there was no shifting in the book. The characters were easy to fall in love with, and you had to root for all the guys in the book to get the FMC. Good

There were some inconsistencies and lines of story that didn't make sense. Just some holes. But its short and wrapped everything up as expected: a rush to a threesome/mating. So it was a little weird that 3 of the characters are the same age about 20 and yet they talk about being young/possiblly different ages and go drinking at a bar. This takes place in America, legal age is 21. Sorry just a small gripe I've had.

I love anything Nora Quinn has published and this just adds to it. The sweet omega Millie finds herself entangled with her best friends and hot firefighter Maddox, Liam the seriously sweet smelling barista, and Knox the steamy new sheriff. But everything isn’t sunshine and rainbows. This group definitely has their share of problems that cause some serious tension. I was so glad to see this pack works through both the small and the huge obstacles standing in their way.

alright

not as drama filled per say but a nice wind down if this is indeed the end of the series although it’d be interesting if Jessica gets a book or even Thalia the sister. when it has descent drama or intensity with kidnappings or violence, previous abuse and keeping the omega safe I love them more, it provides dynamic and not just sexy scenes because those get old without suspense and other things happening in the book.

I so completely fell in love with this story. Nora Quinn just never disappoints. Her characters just suck you right in and I alway get so captivated by the way the love story evolves throughout the book. The timing of everything is always satisfying and the interpersonal relationships amongst the pack always makes me smile and sometimes laugh.

Shifter pack romance

No mm they're all for her only. It was pretty good no real big climax except her heat hits. The ending was odd, abrupt but it's one of those safe palette cleanser books between the stalker and mafia Romances that were dark.
It's a bit of a will they won't they, no one admitting their true feelings but it ends well

I DNFed this one at about 30% becuase I couldn't figure out what was going on, and I didn't know if I missed something about the "pack" or it's basis or if it was in another book? I did not understand the dynamic between Liam and Millie. Make up your mind, somebody! I was expecting some quick insta-love, but didn't get it. I'm out.
