What a lovely, cosy winter romance! This was such an enjoyable read and had me dreaming of escaping to a little woodland lodge in snowy Lapland.

I really liked Violet as a character. She’s feeling a little stuck in her life and work, so winning a holiday gives her the perfect opportunity to slow down, rediscover her love of painting and have some much-needed time for herself. Of course, things don’t quite go to plan when Rasmus turns up and mistakes her for the troublesome lodge owner! Their first meeting is certainly an entertaining one.

I loved the chemistry between Violet and Rasmus, and watching their relationship develop as he takes her to some of his favourite places to paint. The snowy scenery, beautiful landscapes and cosy winter setting really brought the story to life, and I could easily imagine myself escaping there.

There’s plenty of romance, a little humour and some lovely moments as the two get to know each other. I also enjoyed the underlying theme of finding yourself again, following your passions and having the courage to take a chance on something unexpected.

Of course, with Violet’s holiday coming to an end, there’s that inevitable question of whether a whirlwind romance can turn into something more.

A gorgeous, feel-good winter read with a charming setting, lovely characters and just the right amount of romance. A great start to the European Escapes series, and I’m looking forward to seeing where the next adventure takes us!

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for an ARC of this book!

I love this cover art so much! This is the perfect cozy read during the holidays. I love this trope! What’s better than an uninspired woman winning a trip to a cozy winter wonderland?! Add in an adorable meet cute with a guy named Rasmus 👀 They had a rocky start, but Violet starts to warm up towards him during her painting vacation. I love how we quickly are brought into the Lapland culture even after their chaotic meeting. Rasmus is the perfect tour guide as he understands and knows this town inside and out. I loved seeing him and Violet blossom and develop as individuals and characters getting to know each other during the holidays.

I loved Annabel French’s ability to completely transport the reader in this book. The dreamy landscapes, descriptions of the beautiful and chilly time of year were perfection. Her writing style allows the reader to use all of your senses through this story. This made me yearn for a cozy Norwegian trip!

Will a snowy escape lead to love? Violet loves her job as an event planner, but lately she’s been feeling uninspired. When she wins a holiday at a lodge in Lapland she’s excited for the chance to unwind and reconnect with her passion for painting with no distractions. Her plans take an unexpected turn when the ruggedly handsome Rasmus, storms into the lodge, mistaking her for the lodge’s owner. Rating: 4/5 ⭐

The Little Lodge in Lapland was exactly the kind of winter escape I was hoping for: cosy, romantic and incredibly atmospheric, but with enough emotional depth to keep it from feeling like just another seasonal romance.

Violet was the character I connected with most. She has a job she genuinely likes as an event planner, but there is also this sense that she has gradually pushed part of herself aside (particularly her love of painting). Winning a stay in a lodge in Lapland gives her the perfect excuse to stop, breathe and think about what she actually wants. I liked that her arc wasn't only about falling in love. Her creativity, her confidence and the question of whether she is living the life she truly wants are just as important.

Rasmus made a terrible first impression, which I actually found quite funny. He storms into the lodge believing Violet is someone else entirely, so their first meeting is more confrontation than meet-cute. What worked for me was seeing that initial impression gradually change. He has a fiery side, but as Violet gets to know him, he becomes much warmer and more thoughtful than he initially appears.

Their romance is definitely a slow burn, and I think that suited the story. I enjoyed the quieter moments between them more than the obviously romantic ones: Rasmus showing Violet places she could paint, the conversations while exploring the snowy landscape, and the gradual sense that she is becoming part of his world. Their chemistry grows naturally rather than appearing out of nowhere.

I also really liked that Violet becomes involved with the wider community rather than simply spending her holiday isolated with Rasmus. The story gives her friendships and connections beyond the romance, which made the setting feel much more alive. The community aspect also reinforces the idea that Violet isn't only questioning whether she wants Rasmus, she is questioning what kind of life might actually make her happy.

And the setting is probably the biggest strength of the novel.

Annabel French writes Lapland in a way that feels wonderfully immersive. The snow, woodland lodge, winter skies and remote landscapes create such a strong sense of place that the book genuinely feels like an escape. The publisher presents it as a snowy romantic getaway, and that escapist quality absolutely comes through. I could very easily picture the cabins, the cold air and the contrast between the frozen landscape outside and the warmth indoors.

The writing itself is light and very readable. French's prose isn't overly elaborate, but she is particularly good at sensory description and creating atmosphere. The scenes involving Violet painting were some of my favourites because the descriptions made it easy to understand why being in Lapland reignites something she had neglected for so long.

I also appreciated the balance between romance and personal growth. Violet's decision about what happens after the holiday carries some genuine emotional weight because returning home doesn't simply mean leaving a man behind, it means potentially returning to the version of herself she was already beginning to question.

My main reservation was that some parts of the romance felt a little predictable. Once Violet and Rasmus start spending more time together, I could see fairly early where certain emotional beats were heading. I also would have liked a little more development of Rasmus independently of Violet; she felt slightly more fully realised as a character.

There were also moments where everything felt almost too idyllic, particularly when it came to Violet finding her place within the community. But honestly, in a book like this, some of that wish-fulfilment is part of the appeal.

Overall, this was a warm, transporting romance about creativity, belonging, taking risks and discovering that sometimes a temporary escape can completely change the way you look at your life.

I came for the snowy Lapland setting and the romance, but I stayed for Violet's journey back towards the part of herself she had forgotten.

ARC received via NetGalley.

I'm a fan of travel romances and The Little Lodge in Lapland is the second book I've read by Annabel French. It's one of those books that just transports you to another place and I was surprised (and disappointed) to discover when I had to put down my Kindle that I wasn't in fact curled up in a front of a crackling log fire in a cosy cabin in snowy Levi.

I appreciate that Violet wasn't just a typical tourist in Levi and through her connection with local business owner, Rasmus, she became part of the community as she used her skills as an events organiser to help them try and fend off developers who wanted to destroy the natural beauty of the area. Lumi, Louisa and Rivka were great side characters and it was so lovely when they all looked after Violet after she came down with the flu after getting lost in the woods.

After a not-so meet cute when Violet nearly attacked Rasmus with a wooden spoon, I enjoyed watching their relationship slowly develop as they spent more time together. In exchange for helping Rasmus plan a New Years' Eve fair and party, he agrees to show Violet the hidden beauty spots around Levi so she can rediscover her love of painting.

I admire how passionate Rasmus is about protecting his hometown. I've got to admit before reading I didn't know very much about Finnish Lapland beyond the Santa Claus Village. It must be really difficult for people who've grown up in places like Levi to balance needing the income provided by tourism whilst at the same time trying to prevent the area from becoming completely commercialised and losing what made it so special in the first place. Rasmus's story shows how different opinions can put a strain on friendships and families too.

If you're looking for a gorgeous wintry romance that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy and with a serious case of wanderlust, I would definitely recommend The Little Lodge in Lapland.

I think I am going to add a trip to Lapland and meeting a handsome Finnish man to my wish list from Santa this year after reading this lovely, cosy, romantic book. What a perfect Winter escape, snuggle under a cosy blanket, a hot drink, and be transported to a warm and inviting cottage in snowy Lapland...HEAVEN.

I really enjoy Annabel French's writing and how she brings you into the story. I love how she captures the beautiful setting, which was definitely one of the best features of this book. The wilderness and remote landscape is so well described you feel like you are then. I also love how we are immersed in Finnish food and drink and culture. We are introduced to some delicious sounding sweet treats that had me wishing I was there eating them. The author skillfully creates a lovely atmosphere, sensory and warm, contrasting beautifully with the frozen landscape.

I also love how the author introduces us to the characters and how they develop throughout the story. It feels authentic and multi dimensional. Here me meet Violet, who wins a 4 week trip to Lapland. The author's female leads are always strong, no nonsense and no their own minds. Rasmus, our main male lead makes a terrible first impression but deep down he is sensitive and sweet and passionate about his home town. I enjoy how we meet a cast of characters that brings community and friendship alongside the romance.

This is an easy to read, magical kind of book, transporting you to another part of the world, examining community belonging and maybe taking risks to discover how to live life to the mx.

Thank you so much to Avon Books and Netgalley for the chance to read this lovely book.

I have read and enjoyed other books by the author and The Little Lodge In Lapland certainly didn't disappoint. This was the most cute and cosy Autumn/Winter read. From the very first page the author's writing had me hooked and I kept reading until the end as I wanted to know what happened. The place settings in the story sounded beautiful and there was a great cast of characters. I couldn't put it down and I read it in less than a day. I highly recommend it and I look forward to reading more by the author.

Violet, an event planner in the UK, wins a December holiday in a charming lodge nestled in Lapland. Despite a tumultuous encounter with a local named Rasmus, she can’t help but notice his striking appearance. As they get to know each other, with Rasmus showing her around the breathtaking countryside and Violet assisting him with a cause close to his heart, she falls for him and the wonderful community she discovers in this little town. Would she be willing to give up her uninspiring life in the UK, knowing that she can run her business from anywhere, to be part of this close community?

Although I am not a big romance reader, I enjoy Annabel French’s Floating Shop series and wanted to try something from her European Escapes series. I was not disappointed.

This is a sweet, enchanting romance with colorful characters and a captivating setting. It was so descriptively atmospheric that I went and made myself a cup of hot spiced chai even though it was 90 degrees outside at the time.

As in her other books, the location becomes a character in its own right, with vivid descriptions that immerse the reader in the beauty and magic of the area. With vivid descriptions, the reader is transported to the beauty and magic of the Lapland setting. The enchanting atmosphere of this little town left me yearning for more.

I received an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley and this is my independant review.

I always enjoy this author’s books and this was no exception. However, I found one aspect utterly unbelievable - but more of that later!

Violet runs her own events business and wins a 4 week holiday in a fabulous lodge in Lapland over Christmas and New Year. After a rather embarrassing encounter with Rasmus who she threatens with a wooden spoon, she swiftly becomes involved in his campaign to thwart developers who want to build an expensive resort and airport which will threaten the unique eco system of the area. Violet is able to help through her event management skills and I did love the demonstration of her expertise as she whips up a campaign in almost the blink of an eye.
In exchange for her help, Rasmussen takes her to secret and picturesque places where she can practise her art.

Violet and Rasmussen start to fall in love but thanks to her sister’s warnings, Violet believes there is no future for them. Now this is where the “difficult to believe” part comes. They both are incredibly attracted to one another, .they kiss - lots and with much feeling. But sex is ruled out because it wouldn’t be sensible!

What? We don’t know how old these two are but I am guessing early to mid thirties. We are supposed to believe that despite having torrid encounters which would melt the clothes off most people, they are sensible and controlled enough to- to reject sex? Sorry but this threw me right out of the book. I didn’t need to see a sex scene but I was expecting one to take place. It was logical and normal especially for people of their age and experience. I couldn’t believe they would cold bloodedly be able to weigh up future consequences and refuse to have sex. Apart from that, I did enjoy the story very much.

What a beautiful story. Loved every minute of this story and didn’t want it to end. Perfect story for reading on cold evenings with a hot beverage.

Violet is stuck in rut, struggling to find the creativity to paint and never taking time for herself.

When she enters a competition for a luxury stay in Lapland, she’s shocked to find out that in fact she has indeed won and hopes that she might find some inspiration for painting.

Her plans derail when Rasmus, the owner of rival eco lodge comes bursting into her lodge mistaking her for the lodge’s owner.

When Rasmus needs help convincing the town that they don’t need what the developers are suggesting, Violet decides to help him and hopefully she can get some inspiration for her paintings with his help.

When it’s time for Violet to leave though is it what she really wants to do? Has she made a mistake by leaving? Will she find the courage to follow her heart ?

As a huge fan of Sarah Morgan, I was really excited when I saw this book being recommended to her readers. The promise of a heartwarming romance with snowy escapes and new beginnings at Christmas sounded right up my street. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Anyone who follows my reviews will know I love a Christmas book whatever the time of year, especially when it involves travelling to another country. Violet loves her job as an event planner, but lately she’s been feeling uninspired. When she wins a holiday to Lapland, complete with a stay in a lovely log cabin, it sounds like just the escape she needs. In all honesty, it sounds perfect to me too!

On arrival, she meets the handsome but rather rude Rasmus, who mistakes her for someone else. Despite their rocky start, the two soon become friends and sparks begin to fly. But before her holiday ends, Violet needs to work out what she really wants.

This was a really sweet read and just the sort of book to curl up with on a cold winter’s day, with a cup of tea or hot chocolate in hand. The Lapland setting sounded beautiful and left me wishing I was spending Christmas in a cosy log cabin myself!

A lovely Christmas read that make you want to go to Lapland! I don't like the snow and the cold but the way it is portrayed in the book makes it sound magical and romantic. I finished the book in a couple of sittings which showed I enjoyed it! It was easy to read and the characters were all so likeable. I loved the inclusion of local foods which I enjoyed looking up the recipes for as some of the cakes and biscuits sound delicious. I have enjoyed all of Annabel's books and this one was just as good. I'd highly recommend her as an author to anyone who likes easy to read romance novels which give a great insight into the setting of the book.

I loved the setting of the book it was just perfect and I could just picture the crisp snow , the cold air and the fantastic scenery.

Violet was a likeable character and I enjoyed how she immersed herself fully into the community from the start.

This book is a truly heartwarming romantic Christmas story which you won’t want to put down.

Another lovely story from this author.
As I have come to expect, the scene is set so well. It is so descriptive that you will be able to see everything in your minds eye and feel as though you are there.

I really liked all the characters and the way they developed throughout. How despite keeping on working, Violet manages to reconnect with things she enjoys and takes some time for herself.

The authors style of writing is lovely, and I liked how she portrayed difficulties splitting the community, but ultimately bringing them together as they researched and understood what was going on.

So if you want a charming, wintery read, that will come to life around you as you read, this is the one for you, you just need the hot chocolate and blankets!!

The Little Lodge in Lapland was just the book one of many books I have read by Annabel French. This was as entertaining to read as all of her other books.
She gave me the romance and excellent characters I find in her books. I know when I pick up one to start reading, I will be reaching for it again to read it again I have her on my list to read when I see she has one coming out.
Violet and Rasmus are a huge YES from me, and they make a perfect couple to be together. The location makes the romance and story even better.
I recommend this book to anyone needing or wanting a book that is a great way to spend time under a cuddly blanket with a mu of hot chocolate!

If you are looking for an atmospheric, immersive escape, this book delivers on every single level. The setting is pure magic: think cozy fires, breathtaking snowy landscapes, frozen waterfalls, snowmobiles, husky rides, and reindeer under the glow of the polar night. It feels like stepping straight into a snow globe, but behind all the stunning scenery is a story packed with deep romance, real heart, and plenty of drama.

This was my third book by this author, and she continuously proves why she is the absolute best in the romance genre. Her ability to build a sense of place and pull you right into the setting is unmatched. Plus, the physical copy and cover art are just breathtaking - I am so glad to have this one on my bookshelf!

This is the perfect cosy, romantic Christmas read.
Who wouldn't want to win four weeks in Lapland in a cosy lodge surrounded by pine trees and snow everywhere.
This is what happens to event organiser Violet. She is soon drawn into the community and has her eyes on Rasmus right from when they first meet. Soon, she is organising a Christmas fair and a party to help save the community from the developers.
I just loved all the places that Rasmus shows Violet. She also starts painting again.
As with most romances, they are misunderstandings and silences, but it's not long before they are already talking again.
A delightful read.

Firstly thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.

Violet loves her job as an events planner, but had been feeling uninspired, with christmas coming up she isn't sure what to do, until she wins a holiday in a lodge in Lapland. She decides that she will take the time to find her love of painting again. Its here she comes across a very grumpy Rasmus, who storms into her lodge thinking she's someone else! Instead of a nice relaxing holiday, Violet finds herself in the heart of the community, trying to save the town from people wanting to build a hotel.

A lovely cosy, romantic book. I thoroughly enjoyed.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read and review an advance copy of this book.

This was really sweet - there is almost no spice, if that's what you're looking for - but the best part was the setting. It made me want to book a trip immediately to Finnish Lapland. The author wrote so descriptively and vividly, the tourist board should hire her. I liked all the characters, especially Lumi who was so funny. I wish we had more background and more personal information on Rasmus, and the parts with Violet were a little repetitive, otherwise I would have rated this higher. A quick story to read by the fire.

Absolutely loved this one. One thing I really loved was that in the book Violet creates paintings and through her painting it really makes the reader feel
and see the scenery. This was such a cleverly written way of introducing a gorgeous background.

The characters were written sublimely and I loved how Violet uses her knowledge and skill to help others and equally become part of their wonderful community.

The descriptions of Lapland made for a magical, Christmassy story and one of sheer perfection. Make sure this is on your list for a winter read.

A cute, romantic escape that definitely had me dreaming of visiting Lapland in the winter. The descriptions enabled me to really picture the landscape and I could imagine myself there. Something about the story just didn’t quite gel for me. I liked the story of Violet and Rasmus but felt like I never got quite enough insight into them. I also found the build up to the event to stop developers a bit of a waste of time. I know it helped Violet feel like part of the community but I didn’t find it interesting. An easy read which would be great with a hot drink on a cold day.

A great Christmas cosy novel. Violet wins a holiday stay at a little lodge in Lapland over the Christmas period not imagining that it could change her perception on life. Rasmus is a burly local who wants to save his town from developers when he meets Violet he has no idea she will be the solution he is looking for. I loved this book, beautifully described setting and intriguing supportive characters that you just fall in love with. A great example of the grumpy meets sunshine troupe. Can't wait for the next one in the series now.

Violet is stuck in a bit of a rut; her company is going well and her life is very stable but she longs to explore her artistic side and feels a little bit lost. Could winning a break to lapland for Christmas be the flame she needs to reignite her passion? And what about Rasmus, a local who is intent on preserving the land around his village?

This is a nice read; the story flows well and the setting is picturesque - perfect for reading at Christmas. There's no large perilous moments or twists in it, it's fairly gentle and whilst that makes it a pleasant read...it's not the best Christmas book I've read! It felt a little flat at times. It doesn't stand up to French's other books in my opinions, but it is a nice enough chick-lit read if you're looking for something untaxing over the festive period.

I wasn't a huge fan of this one. A woman on a won vacation finds herself in Lappland, ignored by the man who rents the cabin but sucked into the local drama by another local. It was heavy handed and while bits were ok, it didn't really work. The romance felt forced and the main character was irritating.

With a surprise competition win for Violet and a trip to Lapland to stay in a lodge, Violet is looking forward to some rest and relaxation over the Christmas break.
