Mayweather #2

Maybe We Can Find It

Rate this book
Summer’s heating up in Mayweather…

Addison Moore moved to this small town for a fresh start after divorcing her cheating ex-wife. Now she’s the head chef at the Mayweather Inn, and the only drama she has to deal with comes from her ridiculous but well-meaning boss. The last thing she wants to do is date again.

Enter Riley Rowland, a country superstar famous for her string of failed relationships and the catchy breakup songs she’s written about them. She’s staying at the inn, trying to lay low after an exposed PR stunt and a compromising photo have her fans turning on her.

There’s no way Addison would fall for a fussy—and supposedly straight—celebrity. But there’s more to Riley than what the world sees, and the woman’s vulnerability and kindness draw Addison in even more than those flimsy little sundresses Riley wears.

Riley came here feeling lost, but spending time with Addison has helped her find herself and inspired a new direction for her music. With the future of Riley’s career in question, though, and Addison’s past coming back to haunt her, their new love song might end up fading out with the summer sun—unless they decide it’s a something worth singing forever.

Maybe We Can Find It is a small town romance filled with music, sweet desserts, and summer heat. It is the second book in the Mayweather series and features characters from the first book, but it can be read as a standalone.

Riley and Addison.

Yall! These two were the cutest. We’ve met both of these ladies before and seeing them as main characters was so satisfying.

Addison is not looking for love. She just wants to work as the head chef at the inn and pretend she doesn’t love it.

Riley. Sweet famous Riley. Looking to hide from life after a scandal. Comes back to her hometown and is just happening to stay at the inn that Addison works at.

These two falling in love was like taking a fresh breath of air. Riley had no idea how much Addison would change her life. I loved that there was no third act breakup and we just got to see these two fall in love and choose each other. They got to explore what it meant to fall in love in different ways. One for the first time and one to find what means to trust love again. Oh and of course I loved the spice! Had me sweating and wanting more.

Can’t wait for the next book in the series! Check this one out now!

...it kind of feels like she’s looking for something in me that might be able to help her find something in herself. That’s the part that’s hardest to ignore—and also the most dangerous.

It’s time to go back to the quirky small town of Mayweather, and I couldn’t be happier! If you’ve read Maybe We Can Fake It, then you’ll probably remember Addison Moore, the prickly head chef at Mayweather Inn. She moved to town after a messy divorce and has no intentions of looking for love again. But then Riley Rowland shows up. Riley is known as America’s Country Sweetheart, but some bad press sends her running back to her hometown to lay low for the summer. They might have gotten off on the wrong foot, but soon neither one can resist the chemistry they share. Will Addison be able to open her heart up to another woman? Especially one who is set to leave once summer ends? Or will Riley find the thing she’s been searching for in Mayweather?

She found me. I didn’t know I needed to be found, but I’m starting to think I did. I’m starting to think she found me in more ways than one.

I enjoyed this story so much. I love a character that has a prickly exterior but is actually a total softy for the people they care about. That’s exactly who Addison was. As soon as she got to know Riley and saw that she wasn’t some snooty celebrity, she developed the biggest soft spot for her, and it was so sweet. I loved seeing Addison finally letting Brenden in as well. Their friendship was great.

Riley was a great character, too. She may have been a huge country music star, but she was so down-to-earth and a total people pleaser. The latter quality is what got her into the situation she found herself in at the start of the book. I thought the book did a nice job showing the less glamorous side of the music industry and how restrictive it can be regarding contracts and obligations. But I loved seeing Riley’s journey of figuring out exactly who she was and what she wanted and then ultimately finding the bravery to go after it.

The story’s vibes make it a perfect read for summer. There’s a bit of conflict, but thanks to healthy communication between the characters, it stays fairly low angst. Overall, this book was sweet, funny, sexy, and very heartwarming. Addison and Riley were so good together, and I loved seeing them find their HEA! And I was excited to see that we’ll be heading back to Mayweather with an upcoming third book in the series!

...it can be scary being seen. But she’s made it pretty clear that she likes what she sees.
And I like what I see in her too.

😭💛 OMG, this book absolutely snuck up on me and stole my whole heart.

Maybe We Can Find It was one of those stories that starts off quietly and before I knew it, I was completely invested in Addison and Riley and desperately rooting for them to find the happiness they both deserved. 🥹💕

After everything Addison has been through, I totally understood why she had her walls up. Meanwhile Riley, America's Country Sweetheart, arrives in Mayweather looking for a place to hide from the chaos of fame and accidentally finds so much more than she bargained for. And watching these two go from one-sided grumpy dislike to friendship and then something deeper? Gah. I loved every second of it. 😭❤️

Riley was such a sweetheart. Watching her navigate her bisexual awakening felt genuine, heartfelt, and incredibly rewarding. And Addison? Beneath all that grumpy energy was someone with the biggest heart. The way she slowly let Riley in had me smiling like an absolute idiot. 🥹💛

But can we also talk about Mayweather? Because honestly, I think I'm just as obsessed with this town as I am with the characters. 😂 Between the pie-eating contest, the town singalongs, the nosy residents, and Delilah the chicken causing chaos, I was laughing out loud so many times. The antics of this town are just hilarious and it felt so good to be back. 🐔🤣

Tammy Subia has created such a warm, emotional world filled with hope, healing, friendship, found family, and all those little moments that make your chest ache in the best possible way. One minute I was grinning, the next I was swooning, and then suddenly I was emotional. 💕😭

And let's not forget... these two were CUTE. Like ridiculously cute. But also? The spice was absolutely spicing. 🌶️🔥

This series continues to be the perfect blend of cozy, funny, heartfelt, and sexy, and I honestly never want to leave Mayweather.

Now excuse me while I impatiently wait for Andrew and Connor's story because I am already invested. 👀❤️

It's always such a joy to read a new book from Tammy, but this might be my favorite from her yet! The Mayweather series, is just so charming and a breath of fresh air. The series set in a Gilmore Girl esque small town, full of queer love stories 😍. It's honestly my ultimate dream come true, and I'm so happy to have had the privilege to not only arc read this, but beta read it back in April as well. So excited that it's finally out!

🍓 Chef x Country Star
☀️ Famous x Non-famous
🫐 Small Town
🍓 Forced Proximity
☀️ Bi Awakening
🫐 "Good Girl" 🥵
🍓 Sapphic Romance

It's been a while since I've read a sapphic romance and idk why because this hit so well! Addison and Riley were the perfect mix of sweet, cozy, and flaming hot. The perfect summer romance, that I think everyone would enjoy.

After a messy divorce, Addison is not looking for a new romantic partner. But when America's Country Sweetheart, Riley Rowland sweeps into Mayweather, Addison can't seem to take her eyes off the woman. Riley looking to hide out in her hometown for a while after a public "scandal", isn't looking for romance either. But when the local chef at the inn she's staying gives her butterflies, and makes her feel things she never felt before, all bets are off with these two 🤭

I am well and fully OBSESSED with Addison and Riley! They were so sweet togther (and that's not because of all the fruit they ate together 😏). Their chemistry together was DIVINE, I was at the edge of my seat at all times. Once these two got going I was losing my mind to be honest. Addison and her absolutely insane mouth had me screaming and fanning myself. I am a sucker for a "good girl" but in a WLW situation... TAKE ME TO CHURCH I am done for! 🥵

Riley's story really resonated with me, with her being 29 just figuring out her sexuality. Not being afraid to dive in with both feet, but being scared of what the world may think of her. Such a scary situation to be in, that I think any queer person could relate to.

Overall, you all know I loved this! I have been screaming about it for months and I will continue to do so until we get the next book in the series (which I am so excited for a certain farmer single dad and teacher next 👀). What a delightfully wholesome and unabashedly queer good time all around 🏳️‍🌈

Love! This is a sapphic romance with thought in every word, a simple sweetness behind every action, chemistry that consistently straddles the line between absolutely electric and as strong and steady as a current, and it so fantastic at depicting how deep the happiness and calm Riley and Addison bring each other is.
Favorite thing about this read is that it is chuck full of complicated but somehow even from the start there’s this sureness to Riley and Addison that makes all that complicated fade away, and the complications aren’t small. There’s the fact that Riley is having her bi awakening and she’s superstar famous and at a crossroads in her country music career, plus she’s essentially back in her hometown under the guise of visiting her brother to hide from scandal, while Addison is jaded about love with ten-foot-high walls. But they meet, in a not so nice way, and they’re instantly magnetic and all the little excuses they use to seek each other out are hilariously cute.
I am all about the way Riley’s bi awakening is written and the patience and understanding Addison shows her is just the best. I love the way that all their interactions come with an honesty you wouldn’t necessarily have with someone you just meet because Addison knows Riley won’t stay and Riley knows Addison will never want more, and as they fall deeper how easily they just slip into domestic bliss is so fabulous and heartwarming. With oodles of smalltown charm, an introvert versus extrovert kind of feel, and the soft and slow way these two bring out the best in each other this is just a fantastic read and I’m totally enamored with it.

Maybe We Can Find It is the second installment in the cozy setting of Mayweather, and boy is it the perfect treat. This is Tammy Subia’s first Sapphic novel and it is absolutely everything I hoped it would be.

Addison ends up on Mayweather after she divorces her cheating ex wife, desperate for a chance of pace. She finds it there, and becomes the head chef at the Mayweather Inn. Enter Riley, who is staying at the inn, trying to lay low after a failed PR stunt and a video that she really wishes someone didn’t share.

Addison is a little grumpy who has absolutely been through it with her ex wife, and the last person she expects to fall for is Riley. Riley is very sunshiney and somehow, Addison opens up to her. They go from one sided dislike on behalf of Addison, to friendship to love and it’s really beautiful to watch.

I honestly loved both of these FMCs. They are different, but honestly so perfect for each other. Watching Riley’s bi-awakening was so rewarding and I loved how patient Addison is with her. They truly were so incredibly perfect for each other and watching their relationship blossom was absolutely so rewarding to watch.

Mayweather is still the adorable town we met in the first book, and we even get to see Travis and Brenden again. And Delilah the chicken? I was CRYING.

This series from Subia is so cute and I am so thankful that it exists because I love it. It’s cozy without being corny, and the spice is so incredibly hot too! Thank you so much for a chance to read it early, Tammy!

This is THE sapphic summer romance! Perfect for reading in the sunshine!

Taking place in the cute small town of Mayweather, the second book in the series focuses on summer.

Riley is country's superstar, laying low in her hometown after some media discussions. Addison is working at the Inn after leaving Chicago and her ex-wife and their restaurant behind.

They meet at the Inn, conveniently where Riley is staying and Addison is working, where their soft friendship turns into something more. Riley is discovering herself, figuring out how that fits with the public persona she is, and learning how to slow down a bit. Addison is still jaded about relationships, doesn't think they'll last, and isn't looking for anything at all. And yet, they find each other.

I savored this book, never wanting it to end. I would live in Mayweather if I could! Being low-angst, this is the perfect summer read. The seasonality is one of my favorite things about this series because I feel so immersed into the energy of the season and how much the town loves it.

I loved the character development, from both of them, and how true their feelings were. I was able to experience their relationship journey alongside the characters and I rooted for them the whole time.

Thank you to the author for the early copy!

Maybe We Can Find It was absolutely lovely. First, I adored the town of Mayweather and I want to live there. I need all the small town antics like singalongs and someone walking a chicken on a leash. And townspeople that might be a little nosy but would do anything for you too.

Now onto Riley and Addison! They were so sweet together. Riley came home to lay low due to a past PR stunt and a compromising photo and Addison moved to Mayweather to start over after a nasty divorce made her swear off love. So of course Riley came to stay at the Inn where Addison works at as a chef and broke down her walls with her kindness (and sundresses). I loved seeing Riley express her feelings for Addison through her music and Addison doing the same through her cooking. And watching both women find not what they expected but what they truly needed.

And of course the spice between Riley and Addison was so good. I’ll take all the good girl moments please and thank you.

I’m already anticipating coming back to Mayweather for the next installment of the series!

Review:
This story was so sweet! It's only my second book by this author and I enjoyed it just as much as the first one.

Riley and Addison were a perfect pair. I always enjoy the juxtaposition of sweet and cynical characters and I loved the way the MCs softened towards each other throughout the book.

Subia is so great at writing cozy small town vibes and I absolutely adore all the little quirks they add into their books that make the town of Mayweather a truly one of a kind place.

I can't wait for the next book in this series, the little hints towards Andrew and Connor have me on the edge of my seat and I'd greedily read their book right now if I could!

I liked this book so much more than the first book. This is one of those books that you wish you could live in this little small town with their festivals and their craziness and their supportive, yet nosy, neighbors. The author does such a good job of creating a quaint, picturesque, welcoming town, which is why it's instantly believable that super famous Riley would return there to lay low after the "scandal" (which let's be honest, isn't much of a scandal, but for the sake of the plot, I'll let that slide.) The relationship between Addison and Riley felt natural and solid and real. There was an instant connection, but it wasn't instalove. There was no real panic or drama over Riley's bi-awakening. There was no 3rd act breakup where the media found out or one of them pulled away out of fear etc. Just a lot of patience and communication, which is exactly how it should be, considering these characters are grown adults in their late 20s/early 30s. Overall great book and much better than the first. Now, please tell me there's going to be an Andrew/Connor book??!

Oh my gosh, I loved Addison and Riley so much. Pretty sure I had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading.

Riley, ‘America’s Country Sweetheart’ goes back to her childhood hometown, Mayweather to hide out after a string of bad publicity. Staying at the B&B, she meets head chef Addison, who left Chicago after finding out her wife had been cheating on her with half the city.

Feeling jaded by love, and being Riley’s bisexual experiment Addison is wary of getting too involved, but that doesn’t last long. What starts out as friendship soon evolves into more, with Riley quickly easing into her newfound bisexuality.

Addison and Riley were so freaking adorable, and HOT. I loved their calmness and the ease they found with each other, and I really enjoyed seeing the craziness of Mayweather again and Brenden and Travis.

The next book is Riley’s brother Andrew, and farmer Connor, and from what we see in Maybe We Can Find It, I cannot wait to see what’s going on with them!

This is SO cute! Riley is precious. She's a genuinely kind person who's a little lost, but finding herself. She cares about everyone, especially her family. She's super famous, but incredibly down to earth. Addison is great, too. She's a little grumpy, but actually cares so deeply. She's been through it with her ex, but she still opens up to Riley. I love how she pretends not to love the small town and all their antics, but secretly enjoys it and the people in the town.

Speaking of the town, Mayweather is just as adorable as ever. A pie eating contest, a town singalong, a chicken on a leash... add in all the nosy people and it's so cute. I'd love to live there. I love seeing Travis and Brenden again and I adore the glimpses of the next book.

Riley and Addison are super cute, too. From their first impressions to a one sided dislike to friendship and love. It's fun to see them go through it all. And I love watching Riley's bi awakening. It feels so real for a later in life realization. Riley's songs are adorable and so sweet, as is their time spent together. Also the spice? Spicing! I love it all.

Overall, this book is adorable. I laughed, I swooned, and I genuinely had a good time.

Notes: 2/5 spice levels, small town, dislike to lovers, grumpy/sunshine, famous/not famous, bi awakening, singer/chef, first times, food as a love language, piercings, forced proximity

I love Tammy’s town of Mayweather! As a person married to a woman sapphic romances can get cringy for me but this one was just all the small town sweetness mixed with really good, non cringy spice.

Addison and Riley’s attraction was felt immediately and their life circumstances led to very understandable hurdles for their relationship.

This is very much a rom-com and the no 3rd act break up made me very happy! Plan for all the fun quirky things a small town romances brings and just kick up your feet and enjoy!!
