My name is Trixie Troublefield-Baxter, and I live on a cruise ship. Usually, my days are filled with teaching art classes, writing my travel blog, and solving the occasional murder with my handsome husband Ransom who just so happens to be the head of security. Lucky me!
But this Baltic capitals adventure just got a whole lot deadlier. The Emerald Queen of the Seas has been invaded by the Velvet Viking Book Club—fifty women obsessed with steamy Norse romance novels, horned helmets (historically inaccurate, but who's counting?), and their tyrannical founder.
Between champagne toasts, elaborate Viking costumes, and enough velvet capes to outfit a Renaissance faire, I hardly noticed the body that drops at the bon voyage party. Now I’m investigating an entire slew of suspects with devastating secrets, dodging a flirtatious ghost who claims to be a legendary Viking warrior, and trying not to get stabbed by women whose idea of shield-maiden strength includes actual murder.
As we sail through Scandinavian capitals, past medieval fortresses and Swedish pastry shops, the body count threatens to stay at one—if I can figure out which perfectly helpful book club member is hiding a killer’s heart beneath all that velvet and devotion.

Here we go again
I struggled with this one. I like the mystery, I like the setting, the characters are kitschy and funny. I just think ok they’re on a cruise there’s lots of food we don’t need a zillion scenes describing what they ate and how fantastic the food is. No this isn’t my first book in the series and yes there does tend to be a lot of this in the books idk it just got to me in this one. There’s a decent twist as to the killer and the usual shenanigans from the main characters. It’s light and funny, my drawback is stated earlier.

50 women from a book club obsessed with Viking romances aboard the Emerald Queen of the Seas, what could possibly go wrong especially per usual Trixie fashion, she always seems to stumble upon a dead body at the start of the cruises. Her first hint that there was going to be a dead body discovered, a flirtatious 7 foot Viking named Magnus Darkwater.
As the leader of the Viking book club, Astrid Storm, raises her drink to give a toast, she takes a sip, chokes, and falls and Viking ice sculpture comes crashing down upon her. Of course it’s up to Trixie and her friends Nettie, Bess, and Marina to question the potential suspects and there of the ladies from the book club stand out the most. They have to be careful not to get in Ransom’s way as he is investigating the murder. Did I mention Ransom is Trixie’s very hot husband?! Astrid liked to be in control and gathered secrets she planned to use against other women in the book club, can’t say I am surprised someone wanted to take her out to keep their secrets just that…secret.
And we can’t forget the budding romance of potential between Captain Wes and the newly hired activities assistant director, Marina. Marina has a secret, and it seems like Trixie is getting closer to convincing Marina she can share it with her. Can’t wait to find out what it is.
Along the way to discovering who the murderer is, Nettie will keep you laughing with her out of this world personality and Bess will work hard to try to keep Nettie from getting into too much trouble. Hint: Bess struggles a bit with this when a cannon is involved.
Oh, just wait until you find out more about Magnus Darkwater. I will admit I got a chuckle out of what I learned. I did have an inkling something wasn’t quite right with our handsome, flirty Viking, but I wasn’t expecting what I learned and I think you will get a chuckle as well.
I was very happy that two of the three suspects were found to be innocent because you can’t help but like them and want them to move past the dirt Astrid had on them and maybe be happy again.
On a side note: I always enjoy Trixie’s blog “Suddenly Hitched – What a Trip!” and the letters written to her for advice. I liked how in this story, Trixie received several letters from the same person, asking for advice and updating her along the way.
I can’t wait to read the next story with Trixie and the crew and maybe find out what Marina’s secret is.

Viking Vengeance was such a fun ride from beginning to end. I loved the combination of a cruise through Scandinavia, a murder mystery, an over the top Viking book club and Trixie Troublefield Baxter trying to keep up with all of it while still finding time for food and trouble. The humor is what really made this one stand out for me. Trixie's thoughts and observations had me smiling constantly and the banter between her, Ransom, Nettie, Bess, Elodie and the rest of the group gave the story so much personality. I also really enjoyed the ghostly Viking warrior because he adds this wonderfully ridiculous supernatural twist without taking away from the mystery. The Velvet Viking Book Club was an absolute delight too. Fifty women dressed in Viking costumes, obsessed with romance novels and surrounded by secrets is pretty much a recipe for chaos and I was completely here for it. The mystery kept me guessing as the suspects and their secrets slowly came to light and I enjoyed trying to work out who could be trusted. At the same time, the journey through places like Copenhagen, Helsinki and the other Scandinavian stops gave the book a lovely sense of adventure. It never takes itself too seriously and that made it incredibly easy to settle into and enjoy. I found myself laughing at one moment and then wanting to know the answer to the murder the next. By the end I was completely entertained and already wondering what kind of trouble Trixie could possibly get herself into next. If you enjoy cozy mysteries with humor, eccentric characters, romance, travel and just a touch of the supernatural, this is a wonderfully entertaining read...

Viking Vengeance Cruise is the sixteenth book in the Cruising Through Midlife series. Yes it is several books into a series but each book has been designed to also be read as a standalone if you are just joining us. You can jump in here and follow along with feeling like you are missing anything big. Reading in order just builds on the storyline and the characters build their connections with each other.
This story starts out with the Velvet Viking Book Club joining their cruise line this time to sail through Scandinavian capitals. This should be a cruise for the books. Not only do the club members have secrets the friendly helper has secrets this time too. This cruise is full of adventures and secrets that keep piling up. This book made me very hungry and start craving some sweet and savory dishes, as I’d look up items when they were named.
Will Trixie have time to solve the murder? Or will all the adventures and secrets she discovery distract her from keeping on task?

Viking Vengeance Cruise is another funny book in the Cruising Through Midlife Cruise Ship series that kept me reading until I got to the end cuz I couldn’t put it down. Trixie Baxter, the crew & her hubby Ransom, the head of Security for the Emerald Queen of the Seas cruise ship welcome the Velvet Viking Book Club. What could go wrong when readers of Viking romance novels are on board? Yep, there’s a death, so Trixie & her pals on the crew team up to solve the mystery while making us laugh. The Swedish Dream Cookie recipe at the end of the book was nice & everyone loved it when I made them. I look forward to the next book to see what the crew gets into next time. I got this funny cozy mystery from Book Sprout & this is my review.

I love this series! This particular book was hilarious - I could just see all these women running around in Viking costumes and headgear and I was literally laughing out loud as I read. Of course, Trixie and Ransom are still in honeymoon mode and the fantastic duo of Bess and Nettie helping out with the mystery/murder. This time there's a change, there's the regular ghost and then there's the Viking ghost! Great storyline. This is my favorite book out of the series.

Viking Vengeance Cruise is book sixteen and a great addition to the Cruising Through Midlife series. This cruise has the Velvet Viking Book Club joining the cruise, all decked out in their Viking-themed attire. When the Club leader dies while giving a toast, things take some icy turns, and Trixie is on the case. This is my kind of cruise, the open ocean, romance, a book club, and lots of food. I loved how the author tied everything together, giving us a fun read with a cozy murder mystery. The recipe at the end of the book was the cherry on top. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

This cruise has fifty ladies from a Viking romance book club are on board. Full Viking theme, clothes, horned hats an all. Their leader Astrid is difficult to get along with. Astra raises her drink to give a toast, takes a sip, chokes, falls and the Viking ice sculpture crashes down on her. What was in the drink? Was it the drink or the Viking that killed her? Who would want her dead? Trixie has her usual ghost aid, but Viking Maximus is a bigger flirt and womanizer than helpful. He is there because he follows book club member Poppy. He says he will follow her and when she dies, he will guide her to Valhalla to be with her for eternity. Will he be of help revealing the murder? A wonderful book! I had visions of half naked Viking romance books dancing in my head.

Good book in the series.
Once again , Trixie and her friends enjoy cruise activities and solve a murder. This time , a Viking Book Club is on board when the leader of the club is murdered. With lots of humor and suspects, this story held my interest. The real name of the ghost is funny. I enjoy this series.

Viking Vengeance Cruise Book 16 of Cruising Through Midlife: Cruise Ship Cozy Mysteries by Addison Moore Trixie is on another cruise this one through the Scandinavian capitals with the Velvet Viking Book Club. It's another interesting, twisted storyline that sucked me right in! Highly recommend!

Great Read
Love the stories. Concerned Trixie is going to weigh 300 lbs before the book ends though. Id rather hear about the buffet rather think about Trixie eating all of it. Maybe she should teach a gym class. Book is good. Food is optional.
