Winter’s Echo by Eve L. Mitchell is the first book in The Season’s Tapestry series.
Right from the first page I was fully engaged in Amarya aka the trailfinder’s story. Every character introduced had a key part to play in the story, along with the creatures they meet, and the magic being discovered. All of which builds on the Crystallese kingdom and brings the world to life.
Whilst this is just the beginning of the series, you can see that there is a connection between Amarya and Nicco. Not to mention so many secrets are still to unravel, kingdoms to discover and what other myths will come to life. There’s just so much still to come, that I can’t imagine where this story will head…other than south through the Kingdoms.
The adventure that Amarya and her companions go on, sucks you into their world and I can’t wait to continue the series with Spring Stirring.
Side note: I love how easily the author is able to move between genres from contemporary to PNR to fantasy. I’m sure it’s not as seamless as that, but as a reader it’s excellent to be able to read a variety of genres from a favourite author.

Wow what a book ! Winter's Echo by Eve L. Mitchell is a chilling and atmospheric story that blends survival, secrecy, and slow-burning tension into a compelling opening for The Season’s Tapestry series. Set in the unforgiving frozen kingdom of Crystallese, the novel follows a trailfinder who survives by hiding both her magic and her identity in a world where magic is feared and hunted.
What makes the novel stand out most is its mood. Eve has created a world that feels constantly wrapped in frost and danger, where silence carries as much weight as dialogue. This is a slow burn story and the setting of this story is not simply background decoration—it becomes part of the tension itself!! And boy is there tension!!!
Amarya is cautious, restrained, and deeply shaped by fear. And as her hidden magic begins to emerge, the story gradually shifts from a quiet survival drama into something larger and more emotionally charged. At the main heart of it is the strange almost mysterious Nicco. The pull backwards and forwards between the two will make you want to scream...especially towards the end of the story. Throw in monsters, weird unexplainable beings and situations, people who want to possess what Amarya has by any means necessary and mercenaries who...well I think want to protect her...I think...maybe...who knows ! The combination of everything is just mind blowing

This ARC completely pulled me into the icy and dangerous world of Crystallese. The atmosphere was one of the strongest parts of the book — cold, tense, mysterious, and filled with this constant feeling that something bad could happen at any moment. I loved how survival and magic were intertwined, especially in a world where hiding your power can mean the difference between life and death.
The main character was easy to connect with. Her fear, restraint, and need to stay unnoticed felt realistic, and watching her slowly lose control over the careful walls she built around herself made the story even more compelling. The journey north kept the tension high the entire time, and the writing really captured the harshness of winter and isolation.
One of my favorite aspects was the quiet dynamic between Amarya and Nicco who seems to notice far more than he says. Their interactions were subtle but intense, and I appreciated that the story didn’t rush the trust or emotional development between them.
The pacing was a little slower in some sections, especially early on, but the atmosphere and mystery kept me invested. By the end, I was fully hooked and curious to see where the story goes next because it definitely feels like this is only the beginning.
Overall, this was a strong and immersive fantasy read with hidden magic, survival tension, and a beautifully cold setting that made it hard to put down. Thank you to the author for the ARC!!!

Winter’s Echo is fantastic! I couldn’t put it down and almost read it all in one night.
The author tells you upfront that this book is about a journey. In some ways, it reminded me of the The Artefacts of Ouranos series and Spark of the Everflame. Plus, who doesn’t enjoy a few monsters and mysteries along the way?
Amarya, the heroine, is feisty, tough, intelligent, and constantly making life-or-death choices. The MMC is a gradual reveal. The focus stays on Amarya’s journey of discovery while slowly layering in the love interest. The book has low spice, with a slow burn and lots of yearning. I imagine it will build in future books.
I highly recommend this book, especially if you enjoy the series listed above and love a female-led quest. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. According to the author, there will be four books total. Thank you Ms. Mitchell for an early copy!

If you are looking for spice, you won't get it here - yet. However, if you are looking for an intriguing start to a series with great worldbuilding, then look no farther. Amara is hired to take a group of soldiers and mercenaries north. Along this journey we get the trailfinder's POV providing detailed insights to who she is currently, including her strength and the hint at something more. It also shows the development of Amarya's relationships not only with Nicco, but with Baxley and Larana as well. The author's attention to detail in describing Crystallese makes the North it's own character - I could almost feel and smell the cold 🥶 And the description of the change to the environment and what it means to the people and their lives through Amarya's lens as they travel south, immerses you even more into the story. I am looking forward to the next installment where hopefully we learn more about the FMCs background and childhood, where she goes next after that cliffhanger, and, fingers crossed, a lot more spice.

Whoa that was an intense book and ending. I loved the world building and the magic system seems so cool. I even like Nicco and Buxley - given how difficult they were at the start. I’m worried about what is going to happen when our FMC is chosen - hopefully her mercenaries can come back for her. This was a really great first book and I will absolutely be reading the 2nd.

✨I have been a fan of Eve L Mitchell’s ever since I read The Fractured Loyalties series. I really enjoyed this one. I loved the witty banter between the FMC and the other characters in the book. She sure was fiesty! I just love her writing. The way she’s able to describe everything really makes me feel like I’m right there in the book. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Winter’s Echo by Eve L Mitchell completely pulled me in from the start. Amarya and Nico were such compelling characters, and watching their growth throughout the story was one of my favorite. Their development felt natural, emotional, and incredibly well done.
The tension between the characters was absolutely palpable — every interaction crackled with emotion and kept me fully invested in their journey. The descriptions were top notch as well, vivid and immersive without ever feeling overdone. There was so much depth and atmosphere to the story.
I also absolutely loved the dynamic with Nicco and his fellow mercenaries, Baxley and Larana. They brought so much personality to the story and added another layer to the book. The relationships between the characters felt authentic and made it even easier to become attached to them all. This book balanced emotion, tension, and character-driven moments perfectly, and I couldn’t put it down.

This is the first book in what looks to be a phenomenal series from Eve and I cannot wait to see how this plays out as I am totally hooked already. I was completely captivated from page one to the end and I did not want it to end.
The characters were engaging and honestly i was intrigued by them all, they all bring different energy and play integral parts in the story. Some secrets have been revealed but I have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Well done Eve on another brilliant read! I cannot wait for the next instalment
