During their vacation at a quiet fishing village, Jenny and her younger brother Frick come to the aid of Wanda, an alien sent to Earth to recover Edgar, a giant runaway crab
I recently found this book after looking for years! I couldn't remember the title or author or exact plot. I remembered reading it as a child...I had a mental image of the cover and that it was about some kind of witch, and that we find out that (SPOILER) some animals are actually aliens. So when I recognized the cover at a used bookstore I was super excited! Just reread it and it was as magical as I remembered. What a little gem 😊
Refreshingly off-kilter and reminiscent of Daniel Pinkwater in his prime, this is a fun story with impressive illustrations, but it has some pacing problems and isn't consistently engaging. It still makes me want to check out more of Senn's work, though.
I adored this book when I was little, read and re-read it and the whole family knew it was a favourite for a time. That copy is still in a box somewhere, but I've not read it for years so have no idea how it's held up.
