Crochet accessories are as easy as 1, 2, or 3 skeins of yarn!
In Quick Crocheted Accessories, author Sharon Zientara has curated a collection of crocheted projects that make use of one, two, or three skeins of yarn, allowing for both color play and larger projects. Crocheters will enjoy quick crochet projects including scarves and shawls, hats, fingerless mitts and mittens, and slippers and socks!
They'll discover single-skein projects that are simple and quick to crochet, budget-friendly, or offer a beautiful way to use a special skein of luxury yarn as well as crochet projects that take two or three skeins offering larger or more complex stitch patterns and colorwork.
Featured designers include Kathy Merrick, Brenda K. B. Anderson, Beth Nielsen, Cristina Mershon, Terri Keller, Jessica Bolof, and Linda Skuja. Their designs include stitch patterns and motifs that are textural, reversible, and fresh.
When I look for a pattern book, I look for something that has a lot of patterns that I’ve never seen before, or wouldn’t not think up on my own (since I’m a bit of a free-former and pattern-maker myself). The books I’m really impressed with are the ones that are full of original pieces that strike me, but look do-able and manageable. Now I realize that’s a pretty high bar to set. But as a reviewer and a crocheter, I wouldn’t spend money on a book that was anything less than that.
Quick Crocheted Accessories has two patterns that I really like and was impressed with, that I haven’t seen before. There were three others that I’d seen similar things, but I really liked Zientara’s design. All the others were relatively simple, unexciting, or things I’ve seen before.
The photos were very nice, and the book has both diagrams and instructions. But I would have liked to see more original accessories.
Big, fun, colorful; directions are given in both graph and text formats, so you've got your choice. The back of the book includes basic stitch directions, so if you've never tried to crochet before, you can impressively whip up one of these projects with little damage to your ego!
Some nice, original designs in here - not certain how quick they are, though. (The cover shawl looks like quite the project!) A nice variety of accessories and yarns. I wish there were schematics included in the more complicated shape items (Annulet Wrap). Lots of photos showing different aspects of the piece.
I found a lot of these to be really beautiful and I loved the opening message. But I can picture myself only actually wearing maybe 3-4 of the designs.
Twenty three projects are included in this book which includes new designs for old time favorite projects including hats, scarves, cowls, shawls, gloves, one pair of socks, and a brooch. The projects are beautifully photographed and include full page pictures which help in identifying stitches. Easy to follow stitch guides for more unusual stitches are included right next to the projects. I prefer this format rather than a" refer to index " arrangement. One thing missing which I would have really appreciated is pictures of the skeins of yarn used for each project with an inch or two of the yarn unraveled. Even though the yarn weight is listed and a source for yarns is included, a picture would make it easier to match up substitute yarns.
