Geronimo Stilton: #4-6

Book #4 I'M TOO FOND OF MY FUR!
When my old friend Professor von Volt called to ask for help, I agreed immediately--even though it meant trekking halfway around the world to Mouse Everest! The trip was long and dangerous. I almost froze my tail off along the way. And then I was kidnapped by a yeti! Yes, it was truly an amazing adventure . . .

Book #5 FOUR MICE DEEP IN THE JUNGLE
I have never been a brave mouse . . . but lately, my fears were taking over my life! So Thea and Trap decided to cure me. They dragged me away on an airplane (I'm afraid of flying!) all the way to the jungle. There I was forced to eat bug soup, climb trees as tall as skyscrapers, swim in raging rivers, and even wrangle snakes. How would a 'fraidy mouse like me every survive?

Book #6 PAWS OFF, CHEDDARFACE!
Holey cheese, it was strange! Rodents kept telling me I'd done things I had not memory of. Was I going crazy? Had the cheese finally slipped off my cracker? No, I soon discovered the truth: There was a Geronimo look-a-like going around, pretending to be me! Worst of all, he was trying to take of The Rodent's Gazette! I had to get that greedy impostor's paws off my newspaper, but how?

Very fun audiobook for elementary-age kids. Lots of funny voices, wacky plotlines, and cheesy puns. (yes, that was intended)

Great for roadtrips with the kids. I especially liked #6 in this set, but they're all fun.

We're so happy you enjoyed reading "I'm Too Fond of My Fur!" by Geronimo Stilton. This story is all about embracing challenges and learning from them. Just like Geronimo discovered new things and faced his fears during his adventures, you can also be brave and try new things, whether it's learning a new skill or making new friends. Remember, it's okay to be a little scared sometimes, but facing our fears helps us grow stronger and smarter. We're so proud of you for being such a brave and curious explorer!

Lots of love,
Mom and Dad

His friend needed help from him so he went up to mouse Everest and helped him. He found a Yeti
First, he thought he saw the Yeti but thea and trap kept teasing and said did you also see an unidentified flying cheese slice and made fun of him but actually, he really saw one and saw his friend feeding one.

Fresh music, fun voices, lots of sound effects. The young'uns will love it.

Sidebar...I went from this and finally began 'Unbroken'; nearly fell out of my chair when I saw that both are read by
Edward Hermann.

I think the narrator does an excellent job, I think the writer is brilliant (making everything mouse related.) It is for kids, so it's repetitive and utterly ridiculous at times - so, it's perfect for those young readers.

The audiobook presentation with Edward Hermann's narration was excellent. 5 Stars

#4: I'm Too Fond of My Fur is a perfectly acceptable story. It sets up Geronimo as a more heroic character as the one pushing for this expedition due to his high degree of loyalty for a friend even though he otherwise wouldn't dream of putting himself in such a situation. The references to Von Volt's experimentation with time travel seem to be setting up the Journey Through Time spinoff series, which could be interesting as well. 3.5 Stars

#5: Four Mice Deep in the Jungle starts with Geronimo having become paralyzed by an array of phobias and anxieties. Something played up here for comic effect, but something that does actually happen and is much more pitiable than amusing. Still, it is mostly a set up to get Geronimo off into the jungle where he is mixed in with a slew of one-off characters who also have a variety of foibles and neuroses, and he is inevitably led through different situations that force him to face his many fears, proving that he can rise above and be successful. Not thinking too far into what's being presented here, the different setbacks and adventures Geronimo faces are entertaining. 3 Stars

#6: Paws Off, Cheddarface! was a genuinely uncomfortable listen for me through most of the book. I noted a little bit in #5 above that Geronimo's condition being comparable to people's real life situation made him sympathetic, but lessened the enjoyment of the slapstick somewhat, and I also noted in another review that the antics of his grandfather in Curse of the Cheese Pyramid were my least favorite part of the story, but in each of those, the main thrust of this sort of real life piling on was featured more in the setup and moved aside for actual adventure portion of the story. Here it was the main thrust of the story. Geronimo is the victim of identity theft, perpetrated by the head of a rival newspaper. This is supposed to come across as cartoonish with the rival newspaper owner being cast as some sort of supervillain, but Geronimo is presented too much as an everyman than as a superhero for this to be effective. Identity theft is a real thing, and it destroys lives. I haven't personally been affected by this, but I understand the soul crushing nature of the situation and seeing it described here was not enjoyable. The second half that really plays up the ridiculousness of the rival's behavior and sees her get her comeuppance is a little better, but I would not recommend this particular story to any adult. Kids, sure, but as an adult reader I would stay away. 2 Stars

I finished listening to I'm too Fond of My Fur! I thought this book was funny and just plain old entertaining. It starts off with Geronimo ordering a product that makes hair grow and ends with him going to the Mouse Everest to help out an old professor and making a discovery of a wooley mammoth. I like how Geronimo interacts with his family and how he deals with his cousin. What a great series. If you get a chance to listen to this book, do it. The reader, Edward Herrmann did a an awesome job!

I think I'll be listening to a lot of these since my six year old loves Geronimo. I thought this set of books was a bit better than #1-3. The book about overcoming fear was kind of interesting (book 5) and the one where Geronimo had a twin was kind of amusing at times (book 6). There are some lessons to be had in these books...but, more so they are fun entertainment for young readers.

These books are short and easy to read. They are silly and at times even ridiculous. However, they are quite funny and definitely a lot of fun for children. My son, age 10, enjoyed book 4, book 5, and book 6. He wants to continue Geronimo Stilton books. A fun series so far.

These books are actually quite cute; no need to read in order because author recaps at beginning of every story. Extra fun to listen to it for all of the sound effects.

It is very exciting and short so it's a good chapter book to read. Well more like the series is good.
