Confession: going with the title of this book, I seem to have a fixation with Stepbrother books. I’m determined to find some good ones and in the grand scheme of Stepbrother books, this one is pretty decent. It’s no Prick by Sabrina Paige, but it was still a good read.

Unlike most of the stepbrother books out there, this one had a story with a build up to it. The author established a relationship between the characters and built intrigue around them that would come back to haunt them later in the story.

I liked Preston and Maddy together. Even though he was rich, he didn’t come off as a jerk that throws money around. Sure, he wasn’t opposed to dropping $500 on dinner or giving Maddy a $10K signing bonus for her new job, but he didn’t throw money around and show off with it.

I actually liked the slow build between Preston and Maddy. They didn’t really have any relationship to speak of prior to the start of the book when they run into each other. They had met a few times but that was it. They actually developed quite a nice rapport and friendship as Maddy went to work for Preston. But one quip from Maddy about Preston sleeping with his personal assistants and things became awkward, making them see each other differently.

I loved the fight that went from yelling and screaming to them working their frustration out another way ;) This author really knows how to write steamy scenes.

I have to say that I was a little surprised that Jane didn’t come back sooner to cause problems and it was a little predictable that she was working with Preston’s dad. I was glad to see his dad go down for his horrible actions but I wish more had happened to Maddy’s mom and Jane. They seemed to get off to easily.

Overall, this was a good read. The author hooked me and I couldn’t put the book down, I read it in one sitting.

DROPPED.

BAHAHAH NO! This was so cliche and corny, I couldn't read it through without flinching or cringing anymore. The fact that it's a damsel in distress romance who suddenly decided to grow a backbone and have a fuckfest with her boss of a stepbrother? That sentence itself already makes me hesitate, and I stopped reading at the point where the author didn't bother to build any sort of strings between the MCs as they were practically still strangers before they did the wham-bam-thank-you-mam...as in...SUDDENLY prince charming shows his true colours and the heroine isn't buying it, and suddenly they're kissing?! Eww no.

The way it was executed was...comically bad.

This one was a quick and easy read about two people about to become siblings who fall in love after they find out their parents get engaged. I actually thought it was decent for a book that only cost 0.99 on amazon. It had a novella type of setting, but Jackson was able to fit quite a lot into the short story. I really liked watching the two fall in love and found that there was a lot of emotion in the character's feelings.

Preston was actually a good guy who was striving way from becoming a cold and mean businessman like his father. From the start he was trying to help Maddy and I really respected the fact that he treated her as a human being. He didn't portray a whole arrogant, I-am-the-fucking-king type of billionaire and I really respected that.

Maddy was cool as well. She had a backbone and stood for herself and her rights when Preston was out of line. She too tried to stay clear of her mom who was a class A bitch who never approved nor helped her daughter in any way possible.

I didn't expect the plot twist, although I should have because it was so obvious...but that's ok because that's what kept me interested.
Honestly the only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because I wanted more, you know. I wanted to be more history, more background, more on Preston's plan, and a longer plot. But overall, i enjoyed it :)

I like it. It was interesting and I love HEAs. It was a bit of Instalove/lust. You could pretty much figure everything out but it was a good read. Their parents are getting married and she has only met her future stepbrother a few times. She gives him the cold shoulder because she feels he's entitled. She loses her job and he offers her one. She realizes he is not the person she thought and thins go from there. There is an ex and horrible parents to contend with. In the end the bad people get theirs and the H and h sail off in the sunset.

1. Ugly book cover
2. Pacing is on warp speed
3. Corny at times

Overall, the book was just meh, but for $0.99 I can't hate on it that bad.

Really enjoyed the story. Enough sexy scenes but it wasn't over the top sex scenes. It was spicy but tame and it wasn't all about the sex. Fast and fun read. Not very long with a little over 200 pgs. It was a great story, wish it was a little longer, 200 pgs. is just shy to be considered a full novel to me. Would have loved an epilogue.

Okay, so I totally didn't get the whole "stepbrother" trend that's going on until I read this book.

I enjoyed Kat Jackson's last novel, so I expected great things from this one. I got them, too. Kat does a great job setting up relationships, especially between opposites, without it feeling forced or weird. She also treats her heroines like human beings instead of objects to be tossed around by the hero, which is always going to get props from me. It can be so hard to find literature where the girl isn't a simpering mess and the guy isn't a jerk who she falls in love with by virtue of his... endowment. Especially in the billionaire genre!

Anyway, the forbidden relationship in this one makes total sense. I loved that we got to see inside both Preston and Maddy's heads and really understand what made them tick. I was so engrossed in what they were both going through that I totally didn't see the twist coming. This whole book is really immersive in that way, which is what I've come to expect from Kat Jackson.

The steamy scenes are incredibly hot, too, and always left me satisfied yet wanting more. But the book wraps up nicely (in my opinion). I won't say any more than that, because I don't want to ruin it, but seriously, it's so well done.

I can't wait to see what this author comes up with in the future.

I actually enjoyed reading one of MANY stepbrother books and I would have rated another star if not for the fact that this book is actually about 100 pages. The "book" ends at 45% and the rest is another "book" that I have no interest in reading. The books description did not mention this and led me to believe that this was a more fleshed out work that was 208 pages long.

The only reason why I kept reading this book was because I was intrigued for some reason. The characterization was bad. The other characters were often ridiculous. Oftentimes, the situations were ridiculous. The sex was pretty decent but the feelings between the two MC's were completely contrived which makes sense in a 100 page book, I guess.

Overall: I don't recommend and I'd be super pissed if this hadn't been a free read on Kindle Unlimited.

so huh. and wow?

So this book actually wasn't that bad, which is why it got 3 stars. There was actually a pretty decent story line and I liked both Maddy and Peston. The book, however ENDED AT 75%. WTF??!? That's is a crock. The ending was a bit rushed and there could have been such a great ending!

This is my first time reading this author and I'm glad I did. This is really a great hot steamy stepbrother story. Once I started reading I could not put it down. I would recommend this book to everyone.

I enjoy reading the step sibling genre and this was one of the better ones. Preston and Madison were a good couple together and I liked the corruption theme to the story.
