About the author

Jo Nesbø is a bestselling Norwegian author and musician. He was born in Oslo and grew up in Molde. Nesbø graduated from the Norwegian School of Economics with a degree in economics. Nesbø is primarily famous for his crime novels about Detective Harry Hole, but he is also the main vocals and songwriter for the Norwegian rock band Di Derre. In 2007 Nesbø also released his first children's book, Doktor Proktors Prompepulver.

Interesting enough to keep reading, builds up tension properly. Overlying themes regarding loneliness, gun regulation and sympathizing with murderers are well reviewed from different approaches, leaving the reader with some food for thought.

Twee of drie sterren. Ik vond het een worsteling om binding te krijgen met dit boek en dat lukte pas op het einde. Dat ia dan wel weer spannend maar daarvoor worstelde ik met de graiwheid van het boek en de hoofdpersonen

3,5 Sterne Jo Nesbo verlässt für seinen neuen Protagonisten die gewohnte norwegische Kulisse und verlegt die Handlung in die USA. Damit verbunden tauchen auch die Themen, Waffengewalt, Polizeikorruption und Bandenkriminalität auf. Ich konnte zuerst mühsam in die Handlung eintauchen. Die Zeitsprünge fand ich undurchsichtig. Erst nach einhundert Seiten konnte ich der Handlung richtig folgen. Das ist nicht gut für einen Thriller. Bob Oz ist eine gebrochene Hauptfigur und erinnert in einigen Bereichen stark an Harry Hole. Da ist aber noch viel Luft nach oben. Leider nimmt erst zum Ende die Handlung Fahrt auf und wird dann zum echten Thriller.

Jetzt bin ich, als großer Fan von Nesbø, zum dritten Mal enttäuscht. Das Buch fand ich langweilig und nur die ca 80 letzten Seiten spannend.
