Marigold “Goldie” James is the heart of Cedar Bluff—her bakery, Honey & Hearth, the town’s sweetest refuge. But when disaster floods her shop, two very different rescuers step Rhea Dalton, the bold, bossy firefighter who burns with confidence, and Tanner Brooks, the steady, golden-boy cop who melts her with every smile.
As the annual Cuffs and Hoses Charity Hockey Tournament pits fire against police, the game for Goldie’s heart gets hotter than ever. But when mysterious accidents threaten the town’s small businesses, it’s up to the three of them to put competition aside—and discover that love, like hockey, is best played with a little heat.
Welcome back to Cedar Bluff, where sugar and spice melt the ice.
You are cordially invited to attend the Annual Cuffs and Hoses Fundraiser Hockey Match, presented by the City of Cedar Bluffs and your favorite smut dealer A.M. McCoy.
As an ARC reader, I went into Sugar on Ice with a general idea of what to expect, having read everything I could get my hands on written by A.M. McCoy, but I honestly got so much more than I expected. This book completely consumed my life for a couple of days, and I mean that in the best way possible. I was thinking about these characters when I wasn’t reading, and the second I finished, I just sat there staring at the wall because I didn’t want their story to be over yet.
What I loved most about this book was how emotional and believable everything felt. The relationship wasn’t instant perfection, it was messy, chaotic, confusing, and full of realism that, in truth, most authors cannot achieve to this level. The slow build between the characters made every little moment matter so much more real. The teasing, the tension, the awkward vulnerability, the moments where Rhea and Tanner clearly cared about each other before they were willing to admit it out loud to themselves or to Goldie. The chemistry between the three of them was incredible, but it never relied only on physical attraction. You could genuinely feel the emotional connection growing underneath all the banter and tension.
I appreciated that the characters actually felt flawed and human. Goldie, Rhea, and Tanner all carry emotional baggage and insecurities that affected the way they communicated and handled relationships, which made the conflicts feel realistic instead of dramatic for the sake of drama. There were several moments where my heart genuinely hurt for them because you could see how badly they wanted connection while also being terrified of getting hurt. That emotional push and pull was written so well. I deeply related to Rhea, as I believe many women will, because of the deeply rooted sense that she cannot depend on anyone and if she gives up control she will never get it back.
Can we talk about the dialogue for a moment? So good. Some of the conversations felt so natural that it honestly felt like listening in on real people instead of reading scripted romance dialogue. The flirting was sharp and funny, but there were also quieter conversations that carried a lot of emotional weight. Those softer moments ended up being some of my favorites because they made the relationship feel earned.
The atmosphere of the story also deserves credit because it added so much charm and comfort to the book. There’s this cozy but emotionally intense feeling throughout the story that made it incredibly easy to get lost in. It balanced emotional heaviness with warmth and humor really well, which kept the story from ever feeling too overwhelming.
I think what surprised me most was how attached I became to the characters individually, not just as a triad. I wanted them all to heal and be happy, and by the end I was ridiculously emotionally invested in their outcome. There were scenes that made me grin like an idiot and others that honestly made my chest ache a little (and yes, I cried, you will too!). That’s always the sign of a really good romance for me — when the emotions feel real enough that you carry them with you after you close the book.
This was one of those romances that reminded me why I love A.M. McCoy so much. It was emotional, funny, messy, comforting, romantic, and completely addictive. Definitely a five-star read for me, and I’m already reading it a second time!
First, can we talk about perfection… because I found it! Ahhh this book is GOLD! So deliciously good yet sweet and savory.
Goldie is literally just that. Gold. Heart of gold and wears it on her sleeve for all to see. Goldie and her bakery are this small town's heart and soul. She is incredibly sweet and innocent looking but do not be fooled, because this baker is H.O.T hot and has no problem vocalizing what she wants. Goldie is the definition of BOLD! And what she wants is her bakery Honey & Hearth, Tanner, and Rhea.
Tanner AKA golden boy cop falls hard for Goldie. Always getting his morning fix at her bakery, delish food and coffee and a glimpse of Goldie herself. After a year of holding back he finally makes his feelings known to Goldie which are very much reciprocated. Tanner is the most respectful man there is. He is a calm and steady presence. But also... dominant in the bedroom.
Rhea is a firefighter who also falls hard and fast for Goldie and a little slower for Tanner. I truly feel for Rhea and her insecurities. She has things she needs to work through, then pile on small town drama, and injustice, she is truly tested. But the ever presence of Goldie and Tanner will light her way.
Loved seeing these three navigate their new relationship. Such different personalities that meshed to make the perfect trio. The personal growth of each individual was inspiring. Seeing Tanner and Rhea also become a couple was my favorite part. These two learn to trust each other and love one another just like they do with Goldie and it fills the heart with so much love and joy.
Now, the drama. I wanted to not so politely end some of these side characters. I am glad that after a very hard and emotional journey, justice was finally served. The tension and reading scenes unfold had me at the edge of my seat wishing I could read a little faster!
So many aww, lol, wow, spicy and da*n moments. This book was pulling all the emotions out of you. Seeing past characters had me yelling YASS. Love these little moments so much. Tobe and Emmie were a hoot and I loved them so much more! Wild BFF. And hello GIRL POWER!
I could obviously go on forever about this book, so do yourself a favor and add it to the TBR and if it's already on there time to pull it off the shelf!
Oooh this book was so good!! It had the tension, banter, and sooooo much spice!! But it also had some small town mystery and suspense!! So so good! Goldie, Rhea, and Tanner are so good together I loved how Goldie brought them all together and really made them realize what was right in front of them. Tanner is such a golden retriever with a little Dom side thrown in that I loved, the way he got Rhea to submit ooooh man 🥵🥵🥵. Rhea is such a badass I love her and she takes no crap from anybody especially in her job as a firefighter. Goldie is literally a ray of sunshine unless you’re messing with her loved ones then it’s on! They are all so different and bring different things to the relationship and it just works so well! And I freaking loved Jasper he was so funny! Overall loved the book and highly recommend!
First Thanks to AM McCoy for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review
Tanner, Reah, and Goldie are a dream triad! All three are the perfect safe space for each other and are all self aware enough to send them to each other if one needs to settle their racing brain or their anger.
Tanner is a police officer, Reah is a firefighter, and Goldie owns the town bakery, where the town gathers when things start to go array and trouble surfaces.
As a triad, they work on their relationship bringing out the best in each other and helping to get through the holdups from past relationships. With the town they take on solving what is behind the incidents around town and saving the small town!
Book 2 is a stand alone why choose in the Cedar Bluff series by Am McCoy and she did not disappoint in this book. Reading through I found myself not being able to put it down. Rhea, Goldie, and Tanner complete each other in a way that makes you squeal. There’s trouble in town when mysterious accident start occurring as Rhea (our resident firefighter) and Tanner (the golden boy police officer) put their heads together to figure it out while Goldie provides centering for them and the community with her bakery. The spice is hot, this book made me laugh, cry, kick my feet, and fall into love with another Am McCoy novel.
Really liked the dynamics between the three MC's. So much more to the story than smut. Definitely worth the read. Amazing character grow and suspense at the end.

Sugar on Ice is book two in the Cedar Bluff series. This book is FFM dynamic, where everyone dates each other.
You have Rhea, a fiery firefighter, Marigold “Goldie”, the lovable town baker, and Tanner, golden boy police officer. You wouldn’t think that these three would make a great match. But honestly? That is why it works.
We see this triad go through major drama that threatens not only them but the town in general. But in the end, their love for each other shines brightly.
A.M. McCoy does it again, 5/5 stars and 10000/10 on the Scoville scale of spice.
Make sure you visit Cedar Bluffs, and maybe watch a hockey game while you are at it.
Wow! Let’s start with that! The triple dynamic of sweetness, calming, and reserved between Goldie, Tanner and Rhea hits the spot! And I don’t mean just in my soul 😉 the spice and the banter is unlike any other. This book has my ❤️. Who knew a bakery owner, a cop and a firefighter could heat up any room they walk into?! On a serious note, the way the characters come together and the battles they have to face not only in their relationship but to save their town is nothing short of amazing. Perfectly written and yes I did swoon, cry, and laugh throughout this entire book! I’d gladly let those three into my life at anytime! Definitely will be a re read for me! A.M McCoy never fails!!!
I loved the suspense included, it was something that drew me in. All three main characters are so different which was great definitely an opposites attract. Rhea her confidence was inspiring and I loved that she antagonized Tanner. Tanner, his sweetness to the girls was precious. Found family is another trope included, Marigolds partner at work. There were only glimpses of them but it was funny. While I still loved it the story seemed to drag out, in my opinion.
What I love - and can always count - is A.M’s books are always rammed full of spice but also there’s a plot line that keeps you hooked right from early on. There’s always drama/danger/mystery alongside the spicy stuff we all know and love and it just always keeps me coming back for more.
I also will die on the hill that she writes MFF perfectlyyyyy! Twisted Lace got me hooked and this just twisted the hook in further because oooof🔥 these 3 are super steamy!
This is book two in the Cedar Bluff Penalties series, and oh what a ride it was! I laughed, I cried, I got angry, and I needed more! Goldie is such a delight, her attitude and bubbly personality bring light to these characters. Tanner, the golden boy cop, is quiet yet dominant but not in an alphahole way. And the final of our triad, Rhea, who is a strong, driven woman with an untrusting past. I could not get enough of the characters and this storyline, I ate it up! Another goal in the net for Aly!
I absolutely loved all three of these characters so much. They were great separately but together was perfection. Goldie seemed all sweet until she got fired up to protect her loved ones. Rhea was strong and independent but Tanner and Goldie gave her a safe place to be vulnerable. Tanner, he was strong and protective. He knew what Goldie and Rhea needed and was always there. From just someone to vent to or to let out their frustrations physically. The mystery subplot was good, I loved everyone coming together to save the town.
Sugar on Ice is a small town why choose hockey FFM romance. Small town drama, a mystery to be solved, and lots of laughs from the hilarious side characters complete this book. The plot is great, the storytelling is great, the chemistry between the three MC’s is off the charts! The story doesn’t feel rushed, it feels complete and I never wanted it to end. If you love-love and want a cozy well written read you don’t want to put down, this is for you!
Holy airball, or should I say ice ball? Haha. I absolutely love this book. It had me in tears for most of it. Happy tears, sad tears, and oh my god tears. This book caught my attention and is not wanting to give it back to me. The spice and the plot and the twist and turns. Fantastic. I might go back and reread this book. I am in love with the characters and their dynamics. And of course my two favorite siblings made an arrival. I love them. 1000/10 would 10000% recommend
This was probably my favorite book of hers! It was fantastic! The chemistry the spice their relationships were fantastic! She really outdid herself on this one!!!
This author is just hands down one of the best! Anything she writes I just want to stop with real life and devour her book! You will not be disappointed with anything that she writes!
