Nothing Crazy

Rate this book
Mason and Megan are about to say “I do” with a simple plan—to start a family right away. But marriage isn’t as seamless as they imagined.

Between learning how to live together, blending into a big, close-knit family, and figuring out what it truly means to be husband and wife, their first year is full of funny adjustments, tender moments, and more growing pains than they expected.

What starts as hopeful anticipation turns into quiet heartbreak when the pregnancy tests come back negative month after month.

Megan wrestles with jealousy and doubt, while Mason finds himself powerless against the one thing he can’t fix.

Nothing Crazy is an emotional, lightly funny story about newlywed life, unmet expectations, and trusting that God’s plan for your marriage may not look like the one you imagined—but it will always be better.

Be ready to laugh, feel all the emotions, and close this book with a full heart and a little more hope. 🥹💛

💗 Small-town
✝️ Faith-based
🙊 Mild language
⚠️ TW: infertility, grief, mental health struggles, line-of-duty danger
🌶️ Fade-to-black romance

Megan and Mason’s story felt so real and so intentional. Nothing felt rushed — their relationship grew in a way that made you feel every step of it. The tension, the tenderness, the quiet moments… all of it just worked.

And Mason?? 😮‍💨 steady, strong, compassionate… the kind of man you feel safe with from the very beginning.

But what really stood out to me was Megan’s journey. It was raw, emotional, and honestly hit deep at times — especially watching her navigate marriage, fear, and the heartbreak of unmet expectations when life doesn’t go how you planned.

This isn’t just a romance — it’s about faith, marriage, and choosing to keep showing up even in the hard seasons. And I loved how naturally faith was woven into the story without feeling forced.

If you’re in a season of waiting or learning to trust God’s timing… this one will stay with you. 🤍

I’d recommend this to:
👉 Faith-based readers
👉 Romance lovers who want depth + emotion
👉 Newlyweds or married couples
👉 Anyone walking through a hard season

Received an arc from the author herself! Thank you Jordan for the ebook. Nothing Crazy follows the blossoming marriage of Mason and Megan, and their journey to parenthood. Megan and Mason (both Christians) struggle to conceive and rely on each other and the Lord during their difficult time. Riley does a beautiful job of writing their story, and even goes more into Karissa’s PPD journey (fmc from book 3). Loved these characters and I’m so sad to seeing the Jennings family go 😭

This isn't your typical romance where we get to see the couple meet and fall in love for the first time... but instead puts us right into the midst of Mason and Megan planning their life together. We do get some glimpses back to the start of their relationship, but mostly we're seeing them getting married and trying to start their family. And you know what? I really love that. Yes, the falling in love is fun, but so many stories stop with the engagement or the wedding and personally, I love what comes after... the figuring out life together that really strengthens and grows a relationship. That is certainly the case with Mason and Megan as they struggle with trying to have the baby they so desperately desire. While I have never experienced infertility or struggles to conceive, I HAVE experienced recurrent miscarriages and found myself relating to so many of the feelings Megan experienced- struggling to see others get what she was praying for. It was beautiful and relatable, and more than anything pointed to trusting God's perfect timing. As always, I love that Jordan has created these characters who feel very real, who don't always get it right, but who continue to grow and rely on God.

Nothing Crazy is a faith-filled romance with fade to black between a married couple, mentions of sex and minor language. It is the fourth book in the Jennings Family series. While you may be able to enjoy as a standalone, I do think those who have read the previous books and know the family dynamics will appreciate it most.

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

Love me a Jennings family book. It’s imperfect people who love God trying to figure out life, and that’s exactly why I enjoy this series so much. The stories feel real. Yes, it’s fiction, but I can still see how these situations could happen in real life, and I always walk away having learned something new. And because I’m a marriage girlie and a sucker for hard topics and emotional depth, this one was right up my alley.

This book highlighted the importance of truly getting to know someone before marrying them — not just the good parts, but the weaknesses too. You have to ask yourself, “Is this something I can live with for the rest of my life?” Another thing that stood out to me was the emphasis on doing the internal work. When you heal, grow, and let God refine you, you show up as a healthier version of yourself — first for you, and then for your spouse. Your marriage doesn’t have to suffer repeatedly from things you could have addressed before saying “I do.” Once God has worked in you, you’ll notice that many of those old struggles don’t follow you into marriage because you’ve already done the work.

One more major takeaway: “Let go and let God” is a posture we should live in daily. I’ve heard so many stories of people releasing control, choosing peace, and watching God step in. That’s definitely a word for me.

Fun fact: this was actually the first book in the series I came across, and I wanted to read it immediately. I held off and read the third book first — and absolutely loved it. Now I’ll probably go back to check out the rest of the series and more books by this author.

♡Nothing Crazy♡
by Jordan Riley

Releasing April 14th

•4.5⭐️
•Spice: 🌶️🌶️* (multiple fade to black scene between married couple. Talk of s3x. Innuendos)
•Language: 🗣️🗣️ (no f-words)
•TW/CW: infertility struggles. MC is a cop and gets into dangerous situations. Vague suicidal thoughts (side character).

My thoughts:
I don’t know what Jordan does to make her books so good but there hasn’t been a book of her’s I haven’t loved!
I absolutely loved Mason and Megan so much! I loved seeing them grow and change so much throughout the book. There was so much growth from them, and in their faith.
There were so many lines in here that really got me thinking about faith, God, and life (in a good way).
I loved the reminder of waiting on God’s timing and that His plan is always best, even if it doesn’t end how you wanted.
I was sobbing multiple times while reading this. There were definitely some funny moments, but those sad moments were something else. I don’t normally cry with books but I cried at least 5 times.
And I loved seeing all the other Jenning’s siblings married and being parents. It’s crazy to have seen them young and single in the first book and now they’re all parents.
I would definitely recommend every single book Jordan has written! Now I want to reread all the Jenning’s books lol.

“I picked this up thinking it would be a sweet small-town romance… but it ended up being such a tender, faith-filled story about marriage, longing, and trusting God in the waiting 🤍

This follows a married couple (cop + teacher 🫶) who are deep in the middle of life together—not the beginning, not the fairytale—but the real, everyday kind of love. The kind that’s tested when prayers don’t get answered right away.

The struggling to conceive / praying for a baby storyline was handled so gently and honestly. You feel the hope, the disappointment, the quiet prayers, and the way it impacts both of them differently. It never felt overdone—just real.

Set in a small town with strong family roots (family compound vibes 🤍), there’s this constant thread of support, faith, and community woven through their story. And the MMC?? Total golden retriever energy—steady, loving, patient, and the kind of man who points his marriage back to God when things feel heavy.

It’s also fade to black, which makes the emotional and spiritual connection the center of the story—and honestly, it made it even more powerful.

Tropes:
✨ married life (not just falling in love—staying in love)
✨ cop x teacher
✨ small town / close family
✨ struggling to conceive
✨ praying for a baby
✨ golden retriever husband
✨ Christian worldview / faith through waiting

This book felt like a reminder that God is present in the waiting seasons too—and sometimes the most beautiful growth happens there.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)

I’m officially obsessed. Nothing Crazy has completely pulled me into this series, and I already know I’m not going anywhere—I need to read every single book. I’m new to Jordan Riley, but after this? I’m here to stay.

There’s something so real about her writing. It doesn’t feel overdone or overly polished—it feels honest, grounded, and lived-in. As a mom myself, this story hit in a way I didn’t expect. The emotions, the responsibilities, the quiet moments in between—it all felt so relatable, like someone finally put those unspoken feelings into words. It was refreshing in the best way, and it genuinely made me feel seen.

Mason… wow. He is hands down one of the most supportive male leads I’ve ever read. Not in a flashy, over-the-top way, but in a steady, intentional, showing up every single day kind of way. The way he loves Megan, supports her, and stands beside her through everything is so beautiful and so rare to see portrayed this well. He’s not just a great book boyfriend—he’s an incredible husband, and that made their love story feel even more meaningful.

Megan and Mason’s relationship is soft, faithful, and deeply rooted in something real. It’s the kind of love that grows, that endures, that feels like home. And in a clean, Christian romance, that kind of emotional depth and swoon is so special to find.

This book left me feeling full—comforted, understood, and honestly a little emotional in the best way. Jordan Riley created something truly beautiful here, and I’m so grateful I picked it up.

Five stars, no question. I’m completely hooked 💛

I was just thinking how I wish more books were about couples who are currently in a relationship and not just always leading up to one so this hit the spot. I thought the feelings around infertility struggles were realistic here, although obviously everyone handles it differently, and I thought other topics such as the pressures of having a dangerous job, getting married and being newlyweds were unique and done well. I liked this couple a lot even though I thought Mason had a tendency to be a bit of a jerk at times. He did always apologize though, which I appreciated and I could genuinely feel his love for Megan. There were some genuinely sweet moments between these two in a way that I’m not sure I’ve ever read before. Again, usually you get those sweet moments of a couple’s connection a few times near the end of the book and this had them throughout. It was so fun seeing glimpses of their relationship before their wedding all the way through their first year of marriage. Megan and Mason felt realistic and well rounded because they made some bad choices and weren’t always perfectly “good” or “correct” in things they said, thought, or did, but they did acknowledge those things and attempt to work through them even if I didn’t agree with these characters on everything. Overall, I think this is worth a read if you don’t mind what would be considered heavy “Christian themes,” but check trigger warnings too.

First off thank you Jordan for letting me get a ARC. I am probably not the typical person who reads your books (I’m a 24yr old redneck) and that why I love your books because your MC are actually men who I see as me myself everyday and say and do things and react the same way I would. Anyway Nothing Crazy is amazing. I loved the book and didn’t wanna put it down. The story told about the struggles of trying to have a kid is something I’ve seen first through the eyes of my friends ( I’m not at a point of having kids) so while I can’t relate to that. However the part I do have experience with is the struggles Mason deals with and how Meg didn’t understand that although she was in pain and struggle he was too in different ways but just as bad from the same issue that was my favorite plot line. Bow for some general stuff. I love how the spicy is of course closed door but I like that she’s doesn’t shy away from the fact that it’s all married couples that joke about sex. I like how we didn’t shy away from Mason’s job and how it’s not something that is for everyone and that he sees/experiences things that are unimaginable. Overall the book is great and a great way to cap off the Jennings Family! Once again thank you Jordan for the ARC

I read Nothing crazy by Jordan Riley as an ebook and rated it a 5⭐️.
Thank you so much Jordan Riley for providing me with this arc in exchange for a honest review.
Mason and Megan are ready to say “I do”. Adjusting to their first year of marriage is a lot but on top of that all of the negative tests start to weigh on them.
This book had me crying and then at the next page had me laughing. Nothing crazy is an emotional book that does not shy away from hard topics.
The pacing was perfect, and focusing on Megan and masons story all while still seeing the other family members which I loved.
I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for a clean Christian romance. There is mention of depression and struggling to conceive.
Overall this book was amazing. Jordan Riley did fantastic writing. It may not be your plans that come to play, but God will be there. One again, thank you so much Jordan for this ebook ARC.

Nothing Crazy By Jordan Riley
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Be ready to laugh, cry, blush, then close this book with a renewed hope!

🩷 Small-Town
✝️ Faith-based
🙊 Mild language
⚠️ Trigger Warnings: Infertility, suicidal thoughts (side character), near death experience on patrol call
🌶️ Medium-roast spice scenes that fade black

Let's get one thing clear- this is book #4 of the series, and the first time I have ever read one of Jordan's books. I am hooked.

As a teacher who is newly married to a police officer, I can relate to this sweet romance on so many levels! The natural tension built while waiting for marriage is NOT fun in real life, but reading about it sure does make me blush. 🤭

But, this story isn't all giggle and smiles. Life is tough, and this book captures the raw reality of marriage, motherhood, and motivation.

Megan is a sweet second grade teacher with a fear of anything bad. Needles. Blood. Depression. Megan meets Mason, a police officer, fully knowing what his job entails. The couple adjusts to the newlywed life and find purpose in fully loving each other. Mason is strong, level headed, compassionate, and great at chopping wood, 🪵😉. But, Megan has yet to figure out the reality of two lives becoming one. Her plans of starting a family immediately are crushed when months of negative pregnancy tests begin chipping away at her dream of becoming a mother. Choosing to continually show up for family, church, and even each other becomes testy, but with faith at the center of their marriage, Megan and Mason cling to hope despite their plans being on a different schedule than God's.

This is the list of people I would recommend this book to:
👉 Faith-based readers
👉 Newlyweds
👉 Romance readers
👉 People who have difficult seasons in life
👉 People that exist (that means you and everyone you know!)

This is more than just a swooney story to pass the time- this is real life hardships and lessons that readers can walk away feeling uplifted and confident knowing that God's timing is perfect.

Thank you, Jordan, for the opportunity to read this advanced copy of your work! All of the thoughts written are of my own! 💐

I don't even know where to start, Nothing Crazy completely captured my heart!! Jordan Riley has a way of writing stories that feel like they were made just for you.
What I loved most was seeing Mason and Megan live their life together. This isn't just the "fun/falling in love" story, it's about building a life together, facing struggles, and choosing to love each other every single day. Their journey through infertility is written showing hopes, the disappointments, and the way they lean on God through it all. It made their love feel so real and so full of faith and perseverance. 🩵
I love the small-town vibe! From the family chaos to the laughter and support of their families, it felt like visiting a place where everyone knows everyone. If you're looking for a faith-filled, wholesome, emotional, small-town romance with real-life struggles and a love you can only pray for, Nothing Crazy is it. I would give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️stars if I could!

wow—what a perfect ending to the series!

The Jennings family has truly become one of my all-time favorites. I’ve loved following their journey, watching their lives unfold, and seeing where each path leads. There’s something so special about characters that feel like family, and this series absolutely delivers that.

Mason and Megan’s story was especially powerful. Their journey really highlights the importance of trusting God’s timing and learning to let go of control. It’s such a beautiful reminder that everything happens the way it’s meant to, even when we don’t understand it in the moment.

This book filled me with so much hope and encouragement. It’s one of those stories that stays with you long after you finish the last page.

I can’t wait to see what comes next from this author! 💛📖

I don't think the closing for the Jennings family series, and fully displaying who God truly is could have been done with any other couples story but Mason&Megan. People often assume that as Christians we are "exempt" from hardship, that we don't experience struggle or that we don't struggle with doubt. That couldn't be further from the truth. Mason and Megan's story is raw and real just like the others, but hits so much harder. Their story shows that God's timing isn't our own. That His ways aren't our ways and that most importantly, HE IS FAITHFUL!

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." -John 16:33

The story was remarkably close to real life. It was so emotional 😭 Mason is a police officer, and Megan is a teacher. They meet, fall in love, have their wedding, and immediately desire to have a baby. All of Mason’s brothers are having children, and the Jennings household is filled with children. So, why can’t they add another?

They begin trying to conceive, but month after month, the test results are negative for Megan being pregnant.

Feeling like she’s failing Mason and their relationship, Megan stops going to the Jennings dinner or church.
Mason is so sweet and re assures her God and His timing .
I love how Megan tried to help Karissa with her PPD
Thank you Jordan for the ARC
I highly appreciate picking up this book

This beautiful and raw book!!
My thoughts touched a little about the book but this book really made me just kinda sit back and look at my own life. About how much I need to stop worrying myself about things that God fully has under control. Things that He knows, when He'll give to us. It touched a bit about the hard things, even after having a baby, and was just a reminder of not being alone in how you may feel about certain things.
Really just a truly beautiful read. Well done, Jordan! 💙🤗😍

A favorite quote from the book: "Because God doesn’t ask us to be ready. He asks us to trust. And we’ve been trusting Him through all of this. Through the negative tests, the tears, the fights, the waiting. We trusted even when it hurt."

This book was an absolute incredible end to the Jennings Family Series. Mason and Megan's journey felt very real and true. I've been very excited for Mason's Bok since Still Yours, and Jordan Riley certainly delivered.

I also loved getting to see the rest of the family and what they were getting up to. Jordan Riley does the family dynamic very well, it all feels very lived in and fun. This was a fantastic read!!!

WOW! All the feels for this one. Megan and Mason’s story hits close to home for my husband and I and Jordan absolutely nailed it. All the stages of what I’ve been through that I couldn’t put into words, this book said it.

Such a beautiful story and a beautiful family. I wish I could read the whole series again for the first time.

Nothing Crazy was such a beautiful, emotional read. It’s raw, real, and so easy to get lost. I couldn’t put it down! Mason and Megan’s journey through newlywed life, unmet expectations, and infertility was handled with so much honesty and heart. I found myself tearing up and highlighting so many meaningful moments. 🥹

I especially loved the strong theme of trusting God and His perfect timing. This story is a powerful reminder that even when things don’t go as planned, His plan is always better.

Highly recommend picking Nothing Crazy up on April 14th!

I was given the opportunity to read this book as an ARC and I devoured this book in one sitting. I have loved every single book in this series and this book is no exception. It is funny, heartfelt, and faithful.

Megan and Mason get married and want to start a family right away but are struggling to get pregnant and also just got married so they are navigating married life as well.

anywho I loved the two of these characters and I loved them together. I love how gentle Mason was with Megan. It was just perfect. The perfect mix of masculinity and femininity in my opinion. 👏🏼👏🏼

and listen. Jesse *still* remains at the top of my Jennings brothers list, but Mason has officially taken the number two spot. So, just putting that out there.

And the HUMORRRRRRR omg there were times where I was like MISS JORDAN!!!! but it was always so funny and so fitting🤸🏼‍♀️🤸🏼‍♀️🤸🏼‍♀️🤸🏼‍♀️😛😛😛😛🥳🥳🥳🥳
