This is the fifth and final book in the Single idea maintenance and reliability book series. While this book tends to incorporate many of the concepts introduced in earlier books in the series, it also adds a new concept and some tools to measure and enhance earlier concepts. Apparent Reliability is a useful tool when there is little time or few resources available to create physical or inherent reliability. Possibly the best example of apparent reliability results from using "pre-departure checks" that help ensure that your asset will complete any assigned "mission". While the inherent reliability has not been enhanced, for the duration of that mission, your asset will "appear" to be absolutely reliable. Possibly more important than the reliability and availability initiatives alone are the tools needed to implement them and enforce their continued use. This book will help the reader focus on those elements.
