It Takes Two is the the new hot and steamy romantic series by Ellie Danes.
Harper Browning is a struggling, twenty-four-year-old grad student that has been looking for the perfect man in all of the wrong places. Her search for her fantasy romantic bad boy always ends up in disappointment, but a chance invitation to attend a seemingly innocent party take her to a whole other world.
Mason Asher always gets what he wants, for his clients and for himself, except when it comes to love. He can seamlessly fulfill their fantasies, but not his own, until he sees Harper. Now Mason won't give up until both of their desires are met.
**This is a hot, steamy, sexy and seductive romance series that is ideal for fans of J.S. Scott, Cassie Cross and Hannah Ford.**
This is an interesting start to a series. The mansion party was a bit confusing. But I got a feeling that Harper and Avery were as confused about the party as I was. I am looking forward to episode 2, and finding out more about Mason.
Poor girl Harper is friends with rich girl Avery. Harper has bad choice when it comes to men, she always picks the deadbeats but she’s really good at matchmaking others. One night in the diner, they are asked to join a couple at a private party. They go. *** That setup is the start of a thousand fanfictions, I swear… they get paid to go to a party. All my spidey senses would be blaring. Ah, the alpha billionaire matchmaker genre… wait… what? Honestly, there are not that many billionaires in the world. And the talent scouts, Natalie and Hunter, pick up possible dates at random based solely on their looks and don’t check I dunno, relevant stuff like their health, mental health, prospects or background. They don’t even check their ID to see how old they are. Natalie is eccentric because she has purple hair. Ah… that’s not what eccentric means. Why would you have a room full of men and women and then separate them and tell them they can’t talk to each other (only to the ‘dates’) and they can’t swap personal information. Wtf? Why not give each date a solo night? They’ve paid for it. Large font, double spaced so it’s even shorter than it looks. Its listed as 31 pages, it’d be lucky to be 15. Ugh it’s over written (don’t tell me how to open doors, don’t tell me smiles are on their faces, don’t tell me people sat on a chair unless it’s relevant that they are sitting somewhere else.) Bad grammar - it’s you’re not your. Pages of pointless dialogue. You sit on the edge of a chair not the end. Repetition. Speech tags not with the speech. Dollar words when 5c ones would do. “Yes.” She confirmed. Ugh. Capitals in the middle of sentences. Everything Avery says has exclamation marks. *** This book is in the top 2,000 on Amazon, pay for an editor. I know it’s a serial but it ends at an odd place. At least it’s not a cliffhanger.
Without saying a word, I started to convince myself that perhaps there would be no harm in going back.
That’s a good example of the writing style. How much is wrong with that one sentence? I’m going to guess that Harper’s legendary matchmaking skills will be relevant, and that she will pair off with the organiser. And that the deadbeat she fucked in the first pages will have something to do with it. But I won’t read the rest of the series to find out. 1 star
Wow! I must say, I'm more than a little intrigued by The Matchmaker Series by Ellie Danes. It Takes Two is the first installment in the serial and it is absolutely captivating. Yes, I said serial. This is not a stand alone story so readers, please be forewarned. Personally, I love serials. It's like watching my favorite weekly TV shows and if you have Kindle Unlimited like I do, then it's good as gold. So, now having said that, back to the story. It's exciting, fascinating, intriguing, romantic, sensual and arousing. The dialogue is very well written, intelligent and flows beautifully. The characters are captivating, engaging and sexy as sin. Danes skillfully combines these elements to craft an enthralling and intoxicating read. Harper is a 24 year old grad student barely making ends meet on her part time salary. She has always been able to match up everyone but herself. She's just unlucky in love. Hopefully, this latest breakup fiasco will teach her a lesson. She always falls for the wrong guys. Maybe she's just looking in all the wrong places. And after attending a disastrous mixer with her best friend and roommate Avery, she's even more convinced that she's doomed to always meet the wrong guy. Yep, just cursed never to find love. What Harper couldn't know but hopefully will soon learn, she has been noticed by Mason Asher, the 'big cheese' of matchmakers. But is his interest professional or is it personal? Well, I guess we'll have to continue reading to find out! Oh my! I can hardly wait to read Part Two and it's available now! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
Ellie Danes is a new author that I just started reading and I am so glad that she was recommended to me this series is really great. The book is about Harper and she ends up going to this Mansion with her best friend to attend a Mixer and things just get crazy from there. The owner Mason Asher who just goes by Asher to everyone else seems to take a liking to Harper. The story evolves pretty quickly the two have a major connection and the author does a great job painting the picture. The chemistry that comes across with these two is just amazing, the story has so many twists it will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Intriguing beginning to what promises to be an awesome story. Well written and full of suspense, this book grabs your attention from the get go and keeps hold through to the end, at which point it leaves us hanging off of a major cliff. I love the plot so far and can only hope it gets better as the story progresses. My only disappointment is that it is way too short. I'm not a big fan of serials to begin with, but when they are only the length of a chapter, I find myself disappointed, wishing it would have been at least a hundred pages. Other than that, I love the characters and am hoping that a few sparks are going to fly between Asher and Harper.
I loved this book so much I couldn't put it down till the end. I wanted more when it was over and checked the Authors website to see when the next parts in the series will release.
This story was very sensual and interesting. The way they made a business out of matchmaking and the way they went about doing it was different than anything I've ever heard of before. It made the whole thing a lot more exciting.
I can't wait for the continuation of the series and who will be matched next!
****I received this ARC in exchange for an honest Review.****
It was well written, and once the reader got into the story it's hard to stop. I want to know more about the agenda of the people Harper is suspicious of. I didn't like Avery very much because of her attitude. Anyway, I can't wait to read the next book, I hope it's a little longer than this one though.
This marketing strategy of giving away the first chapter in a book and calling it Book One of a series really chaps my hide. At least some authors will leave a cliffhanger to entice their readers to continue. This one hadn't barely introduced the characters and definitely didn't give much hint as to the coming suspense or plot.
I'm giving this a three star rating because it's the first of six books, therefore, not a lot has been given away just yet. Having said that, the storyline is good enough to make me continue with part two.
You meet the soon to be ex and then Heaper and Avery are invited to go to a house. Against her judgement, Harper agrees to go. But things go wrong for her.
But not sure how I feel about Avery. I like Harper.
I love all the stories by ellie danes, I rave about them to all my friends & also people I just happen go speak to. I've gotten many people to start reading her books.
This was actually more interesting than I had originally thought it was going to be. It was a good start and well written, and I'm intrigued to see where it's going to go next.
The title makes you think of something else. I was very surprised where this story was heading. Each of the characters fall under the title of (interesting). Moving on to book 2
