This is a dark romance with an HEA. I loved this book so much. It was fucked up! I mean, the dedication is “I’m a sick fuck…” so I knew I would love it! I haven’t read one of Juliet’s books before and this was an intense start. If her books are as fucked as this one…? Needless to say, I already put all of her books on my tbr. I have also never read the step-sibling trope, and when I first started reading a couple years ago, I said I would NEVER because… ewww! But OMG! I am dying for this book!

Kaden is not a good guy in any way, but I love him! He is fucking crazy, but I am here for it. Kaden is the dead-inside, broody kid and if there was ever an FMC who is a ray of sunshine, Melody is it! No wonder he calls her “Sunny”. They met at 11 years old when their parents got together. At first, he is rude to his new sister, but she cracks him open.
“You sound scared of me.”
“Uh, I-I’m not…scared.”
“You should be.”
I’m not giving anything away, but if anyone dared look at her or talk to her, watch out! He is snarky. The banter is amazing! I had to contact the author to tell her how I laughed out loud on the train, and when I literally was holding my breath from the shit going down. What Kaden thinks up and does to her… my jaw was practically on the floor the whole time, but he would never “hurt” hurt her and he would go as far as killing anyone who did… or dig up dirt on them or just make up some dirt. When it came to Melody, Kaden turned into her protector (kind of 🫣), still dark as fuck, and by no means a knight in shining armor. Somehow, he calms her and comforts her. And then…
“Run, Melody. When I catch you, I’m going to take more than your fucking heart, pretty girl.”
Kaden’s friends in the book are super fun too. I know the author said this was a standalone, but I seriously hope she will continue with Saint and Ivan.
Kaden cuts me off sharply. “I’m not choosing them over you. No one is over you, do you understand?”
My heart slams in my chest as my stomach flutters. My reaction is completely platonic and normal for a sister, right?
I could go on and on, there are so many things but I can’t spoil it. Just get it and see for yourself. I will be reading this book again! It’s a good thing I have a short memory; it’ll be like I’m reading it again for the first time. I am definitely a sick fuck!

There were instances where the story was engaging but for the most part it lacked depth, a little on the “tough to believe” and the “taboo” wasn’t really that “taboo” 🫤

This was a dark, addictive read that completely delivered on the taboo romance elements while still managing to create a surprisingly romantic love story.
The standout aspect of this book is undoubtedly the male main character. He is obsessive, possessive, morally grey, and undeniably dangerous, yet Coven writes him with enough depth that his actions feel genuine rather than existing for shock value. His obsession with the female main character is intense and all-consuming, making him both terrifying and delicious.
The relationship between the two main character’s develops in a way that feels earned, their journey together and apart added substance to the taboo elements rather than relying on them alone to keep the reader’s attention. The darker / taboo themes are handled with confidence, creating a story that is immersive and difficult to put down.
For those looking for a mafia romance, I would say that whilst the book contains a mafia backdrop, it felt more like background noise than the central focus. I’d the book had been split into 2 parts it would have allowed for more detail and darker crime elements to be included.
If you’re looking for a character-driven dark romance where the taboo relationship is centre stage with a brilliant written unhinged MMC this one is definitely worth taking a punt on.

This was a fun ride. Spicy, taboo, and witty. The banter was well done, Kaden is… terrifying, and yet I get it.
I think getting the insight into their relationship as kids helped to understand the way they end up. It (in my opinion) also slightly lessens the taboo of it all. Their chemistry is undeniable throughout the whole book and it carries so well through every struggle and simple life moment they encounter together.
There were definitely some parts that highlighted just how fucked up Kaden is, and I think JC does a good job at making sure we, and Melody, don’t forget his darker side.
This book honestly has pulled me out of my reading slump. I loved it.

Yep . It’s official everyone , I have absolutely no morals when it comes to fictional men . Kade is absolutely sinful , but oh so delicious. He is the definition of unhinged, and will stop at nothing to get what he wants .
Melody , the FMC of this book , is sweet and innocent and absolutely loveable . She would be what I’d want in a best friend .
I had so many “ ohhhh “ “ what the heck “ and laughing moments during reading this , definitely another banger of a book by Juliet .
If you want a taboo dark romance that will question your morals , filled with tension, spice and good plot this one is for you .

Perhaps I should begin with an opinion I’m sure I’ve shared before: I’ve always found the taboo surrounding stepsibling romance to be massively overblown. I mean, if two people share absolutely no blood, why should they suddenly become forbidden simply because their parents decided to tie the knot? I genuinely don’t get it. That said... I would be lying if I claimed the premise doesn’t add an extra layer of delicious tension to the story. And yes, the fact that Kaden and Melody call each other brother and sister in bed definitely adds to that forbidden appeal. But let me back up. What I loved most from the start was that this relationship wasn’t built on instant attraction. When their parents marry, Kaden and Melody are still children, and their bond grows first out of companionship, comfort, and trust. The author gives us plenty of history, allowing us to watch their connection evolve over the years, and that emotional foundation made everything that followed hit so much harder. Kaden is quiet and withdrawn (diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder), while Melody is pure sunshine. She’s chatty, affectionate, and impossible to ignore. She barges into his carefully guarded world and never really leaves. He becomes her protector, her safe place... and eventually, she becomes his greatest obsession. And honestly? That obsession was the best part. As their feelings deepen, so does the conflict between what they want and what society tells them they should never have. Secrets, guilt, and impossible choices eventually pull them apart. I won’t lie, Melody’s subsequent relationship with Dylan was probably my least favorite part of the book. But even then, Kaden and Melody never truly let each other go. Their bond feels inevitable, almost fated, and when life brings them back together years later, the question isn’t whether they still love each other, it’s whether they’re finally willing to stop fighting it. However, it wasn’t the stepsibling aspect that hooked me. It was Kaden. This man is DARK. Yes, he loves Melody with absolute devotion, but that love comes wrapped in obsession, possessiveness, and just the right amount of unhinged energy. And bless Juliet for not trying to sanitize him or explain away his flaws. Kaden is obsessive. He is controlling. He is morally questionable at best and pitch black at worst and I adored every second of it. At the same time, Melody is no innocent bystander. She’s just as consumed by Kaden as he is by her, which is exactly why they make such a perfect pair. She challenges him, fights for him, and refuses to keep her feelings bottled up. One thing I particularly appreciated was that when Melody was hurt, angry, or frustrated, she actually said so. No endless misunderstandings. No pages upon pages of unnecessary angst. Just two deeply messed-up people who understand each other better than anyone else ever could. And the spice? Good lord. It is absolutely feral—in the best possible way. Dirty talk, lots of kink, power dynamics, dominance, control... it has all the ingredients we adore. The chemistry between these two practically burns through the pages. So, if you love dark romance featuring a possessive, morally grey-to-pitch-black MMC who makes you clutch your pearls, question your standards, and swoon anyway, this one absolutely delivers. Kaden and Melody are toxic, obsessive, devoted, and utterly perfect for each other and honestly, I wouldn't have wanted them any other way.

My favorite thing about this author is how authentic the dialog between characters is. The banter is top tier, always. I received an ARC for this and was super pumped to dive into it since I've read her entire catalogue after stumbling upon Killer Confections a few weeks ago (definitely go start that series asap!!)
From start to finish, the timeline and progression of the characters was great, I think a perfect amount of time was spent on their childhood, teen years, college years and then onto the main adult portion. I love a good step sibling trope and I gotta say, there were moments I was getting Little Stranger by Leigh Rivers vibes? Love that.
Character development was good. I felt I had a solid understanding of their relationship throughout. I hate a long gap between MCs seeing each other again but I think this worked out alright.
If there's one thing this author knows how to do- it's make an unhinged psycho with an actual heart who can say the saaaweetest things and I love that!! Kaden was definitely my type of unhinged but not constantly and that's okay. The bad boy vibe and looks were hitting 👌🏼and "Sunny" 😭 was an actual sweetheart with just a little bit of a fierceness to her, and some may have a problem with her forgiving so easily but honestly I'm here for it sometimes. I don't like long lasting, dragged out drama that a little more communication could have fixed sooner. This was way more realistic. Melody always spoke her mind and said what was hurting her and if she was mad or upset and I think that's enough! This author excels at timely conflict resolutions and again.. I'm here for it. I enjoyed the side characters and I really liked that the parents didn't throw a whole fucking fit about the relationship, except for how Kaden concluded it which was definitely over the top 🤪. All that extra bs baggage that comes with keeping the secret about step siblings being in a relationship wasn't really there. Melody's reasons were internal battles, not constantly talking about what other people will think or what their parents would do, etc. I just really love how this author does things, it's so different than the typical way the specific tropes are done and I think that's really fucking refreshing!!
My one and only problem (which honestly it's not even a problem bc I just like a good book and this was a very good one imo) was that this definitely didn't feel like a mafia book. Yes, Kaden was in the mafia but no real mafia behavior like I'm use to in your typical "mafia" books took place except the main reason for the fall out and then the wedding stuff with a sprinkle of security for Melody prior to that.
Either way, I'm really happy I got an advanced copy and was able to add another Juliet Coven book to my shelf and I seriously cannot wait for this author to blow up! I need book 3 in the syndicate series and I def need me the 4th book of the daughters of exile!

Okaaaaaay time for a review. I LOVED her writing style; it was so addictive and I couldn't let the book go. And i give it 4 stars because i loved what was happening and no scene felt unnecessary, even though it was longer than usual. I fcking love Melody, she was smart and not a doormat at all, which is a common disease for dark romance FMCs. I loved Kaden too and it was a very good book in total. But lets see what could have made it so much better (PERSONALLY)
FIRST OF ALL, trigger warnings. I understand that the authors wanna play safe and warn readers who may get affected by even a glance of some topics. But girl, there was a zero noncon scene in this book. My girl Melody needs to take some lessons from Violet about how not to want it hahaha. Kaden was even worse than Jesse, so.... (Corrupt Idol)
My issues with the book are:
1-Even though I LOVED the depression and the great breakup scenes, the proper emotion wasn't there for most of the big scenes. Starting from their first kiss which made me fear at first, Melody acted like she was so ready to love his big brother not so brotherly, when we never saw those kinds of feelings from her POV before. It didn't shock her as much as it did the reader, i felt.
--Kaden coming back after being missing for 6 years and the parents were like 'oh come on in, what do u want for dinner.' and I think in these books, their reactions were so important to us and I didn't feel like they missed their kid. And in the wedding scene, Kaden making everyone hold at a gunpoint for the whole thing and mom be like 'yeah so happy for you guys'. No, just no. It shouldnt have been like this. Your daughter went through a lot and yeah, you should be worried.
2-Kaden being diagnosed was something we rarely see in dark romance books, even though every mmc needs therapy. I found it very unique and couldn't wait for the author to make it a big deal after letting us know literally in the first chapters. The homicidal urges made Kaden's life so hard and I liked how we could explain what he does with that. He was sick. But it didn't even come up till the end and when it did, Melody wasn't even surprised. She was like 'oh how didnt i know!!!' And she confessed her love anyways. I really think that potential went to waste.
3-Not being a Christian or raised in a Christian neighborhood, I wasn't interested in this specific or any Religion play. There was a scene and I was neutral, so not gonna comment on it. Some people enjoy what they enjoy ig.
I guess that's all. It was a very well-done book; I would recommend it since I haven't read any good stepbrother books since Corrupt Idol and Quarantined. But this one made it on the list for sure.

From the moment Melody and Kaden met they became inseparable. She saw in him what other's didn't and he liked that about her. He was a bit different from everyone else and seemed to find himself being a loner, except of having 2 friends. He didn't pay any mind to what people said about him, but for some reason whey Melody came into his life she became his constant.
As they started growing up, it seemed like he started seeing her as more than just his stepsister. He started getting over possessive and jealous when guys would try to talk to her. Melody didn't understand why her brother would act that way until she started realizing that her brother had feelings for her that were not brotherly. She then started realizing that she too was starting to feel the same way about him.
They started a secret romance, they didn't want anyone to find out what they were up to because of what they were to each other, but the cat will eventually have to come out of its hat and that's exactly what happens. Kaden has dark urges and he doesn't want Melody to find out about them so he disappears one night and doesn't return for several years. In the meantime, Melody was left heartbroken and devastated, but after a few years she decides that it's time to move on and leave his ghost in the past.
When Melody Finally moves on and starts dating she gets serious with a boy and date the whole time that Kaden has been missing. She finds a way to let go of Kaden and move on with her life, until one cold holiday night Kaden decides to show up at the house again and everyone is shocked to see him, but Melody gets so angry that she doesn't want to talk to him. She refuses to go down that road again with him especially with the way she was left when he disappeared.
But Kaden may have had to let her go once, but now that he's back he's not willing to let her go a second time.
Things get steamy and hot from this point on. She might have forgiven Kaden but she sure gave him a run for his money! We also find out things about her current boyfriend and how he really is. He might be a gentleman but the question is, is he really?
All in all, I couldn't put the book down and absolutely loved it! I certainly loved Kaden because he loved Melody fiercely and was loyal to her to the bone. NOW that's what I call LOVE!

Taboo and tasty His Ruin is a step sibling romance that is part completely unhinged obsession, part absurdly cute, and all really freaking good! Juliet Coven makes Kaden’s indifference to everyone who isn’t Melody hot and sweet and all the reasons you love him, his possessiveness and protectiveness the kind of stuff you dream of when you want your MMC’s over the top and completely crazy about a girl, and his obsession with death and his clinical and sociopathic ability to unalive a guy without even batting an eye touch her and die heaven and there is no such thing as enough of these two.
This read has so much more to it than what you can summarize in a review and I love it. There’s a mafia angle, the fact that Kaden and Melody have never had a “normal” step sibling relationship and the way it grows and twists and blossoms into never ending burn down the world love, there’s Kaden’s deep seated more than a craving need for blood and death and murder, the way Kaden feeds the dark side Melody isn’t always sure she wants to admit she has and her ability and only her ability to make Kaden feel deeply, and there’s Kaden’s no limits no one touches her she is completely his and he’ll do whatever it takes to have tendencies and Juliet Coven has melded it all together into a ridiculously addictive read. It’s just taboo enough the forbidden feels fantastic and the unhinged is fire, but it shines in the consuming and out of control need Kaden has for Melody and her reliance and complete trust in him. Even when it hurts, even when these two are the worst thing to ever happen to each other, there is no doubt they’re meant to be and it’s so perfect. This is the read you need when you don’t mind the dark but crave the kind of love that gives you the peace of safety, the sureness of always, and the warmth of home, ya know after the stalking, and the forced marriage, and the blood, and it’s fabulous.

Holy shizzy, this book was SO good! *His Ruin* completely pulled me in from the very first chapter and refused to let go. Juliet Coven is a new-to-me author, and wow, did she not disappoint.
One of my favorite tropes is step-siblings, so I was already intrigued going in. The way Juliet Coven developed Kaden and Melody's relationship had me fully invested. Their connection felt so real that I felt like I was experiencing everything right alongside them.
Kaden starts off as a standoffish, misunderstood, "weird" boy who keeps everyone at arm's length, while Melody is pure sunshine in human form. When their parents get together, their lives become intertwined, and watching their friendship grow into something deeper was both beautiful and heartbreaking.
This story takes you through every emotion imaginable. There were moments that made me smile, moments that shattered my heart, and plenty of times when I couldn't stop turning the pages. Kaden's inner darkness and the choices he makes create obstacles that leave lasting scars, and Melody's journey through it all had me rooting for her the entire time.
I won't spoil anything, but if you're worried about the ending, just know there is a HEA. I absolutely loved this book and was left wanting more. Kaden & Melody's story was well written & very interesting...it is dark... they both are a bit obsessive (Kaden more so) & their relationship is very unique...but they seem to fit each other well...
While they are only stepsiblings & are not related at all, they enjoy role playing & calling each other brother & sister while sleeping together...
There is some dub con as both of them drug each other & are intimate while the other is drugged...but they also both know it's going on & are ok with it...

This is the first book I have read from Juliet Coven, and I am so excited and feel privileged to have been apart of her ARC readers for this book. I will definitely be reading more of her books!!!

As time passes Kaden realizes that there relationship cannot be just brother/sister because of how he felt. They realize it is mutual, however because of a decision Kaden makes he has to disappear for a while and Melody is left to pick up the pieces. When he comes back she thought she had moved on happily but Kaden soon made her realize that she was wrong.
This book was a really great read, I loved the story! There were times I felt so bad for Melody, and I hated Kaden but then there were times my heart broke for Kaden. The chemistry and banter between them lead to some great 🔥.

Kaden isn't fazed by blood or the lives he takes.
Melody is a sunshine...who'd rather be drugged by her big brother and stripped of power than admit that she can't handle a mundane life and a lover who is anything other than Kaden's obsessive level of "you're mine or you're mine...or everyone dies and then you're still mine."
Reading this story felt more like following someone's dirty diary (in the best way), but also in great details. The book starts with Kaden and Melody when they're children—being forced to become siblings. I absolutely loved how their connection grew over time and explored their childhood dynamics before diving into their teen and adult years. It's what made this story unique to me, and I loved how it all started with innocence, then slowly descended into madness.
(I think this His Ruin would keep in a chokehold the readers who are obsessed with Killian (God of Malice by Rina Kent). While Killian tries to rein in his impulses and deal with his darkness for Glyn, Kaden is like: "Meh, Melody will love me for the monster I am absolutely embracing because I will leave her no choice but to worship me.")

We get to see them grow up together and build a strong bond. You can see the feeling start to go from sibling love to something more taboo. It took a minute to get there before they go all the way. We finally get there and desires are given into and we are happy just living our best lives. Then an event occurs and they are separate for some time. Melody is the sunshine that Kaden needed in life. Kaden is interesting and has an unusual hobby. When it comes to this man miss mamas melts like puddy and vice versa. Melanie started off as an innocentish woman to a strong woman who can handle herself. Kaden didn’t change much lol but he is definitely a softy for his girl. The spice in this book was well done. These two are freaky and I like it. This my first book by the author and I’m not mad at it. The first half of the book was slow in my opinion but then picked up. At first I thought the last twenty five percent of the book was dragging but after I finished it I knew it was needed. To be honest it was my favorite part book. I wish I could tell you why. This was a great story. I love a step sibling romance, it’s one of my favorites. I truly enjoyed the story and the journey they went on to have their happily ever after.

I was recommended this since I loved Leigh Rivers' Little Stranger and it did not disappoint in that regard. The vibes were excellent. I was genuinely upset in the second act (I do not normally Get Got by DRs, and yet...), the forbidden love aspect was done delightfully well, it really did have something for everyone on the menu. Could've been a five star if done better, but alas a few things were not quite there for me:
The writing. Mostly okay but there were some cluuuunky phrases (I don't need to be told it's an intimate moment - just show me how it's intimate). All Ivan and Kayden's conversations around killing the father. Also idk I just think characters thinking "it's taboo" about their own relationship is weird? It was a "who talks like that" except a "who thinks like that". And... So... Many... Ellipses...
Kayden's plan with not telling Melody? It sounded like he had a plan? This was never made clear. At all.
My number oneeee biggest problem in this story is the third act. It felt like this suddenly became a new story and the author was trying to tick all the boxes and go suddenly forced marriage, pet play and captive X captor vibes but it didn't land. I had enough fun still, and LOTS of fun in the first two acts that I'll allow it to still get rounded up, but it definitely had 5* potential.
Also, another book in my bro use lube cos it just takes ya out of the scene list.

I was genuinely upset in the second act (I do not normally Get Got by DRs, and yet...), the forbidden love aspect was done delightfully well, it really did have something for everyone on the menu. Could've been a five star if done better, but alas a few things were not quite there for me:
The writing. Mostly okay but there were some cluuuunky phrases (I don't need to be told it's an intimate moment - just show me how it's intimate). All Ivan and Kayden's conversations around killing the father. Also idk I just think characters thinking "it's taboo" about their own relationship is weird? It was a "who talks like that" except a "who thinks like that". And... So... Many... Ellipses...
Kayden's plan with not telling Melody? It sounded like he had a plan? This was never made clear. At all.
My number oneeee biggest problem in this story is the third act. It felt like this suddenly became a new story and the author was trying to tick all the boxes and go suddenly forced marriage, pet play and captive X captor vibes but it didn't land. I had enough fun still, and LOTS of fun in the first two acts that I'll allow it to still get rounded up, but it definitely had 5* potential.
Also, another book in my bro use lube cos it just takes ya out of the scene list.

Holy moly this was amazing! I went into it completely blind, just knowing it was step sibling/taboo tropes. This was so much more than I expected it to be. It was addictive, entertaining, twisted, dark, unhinged as hell, but also within all this darkness and chaos, it was beautiful. The tension bleeds through the pages between Kaden and Melody. It’s burning hot with the spice, but the plot is so dang good. With each page and each chapter, you want more and more. The undeniable chemistry between these MMC’s was strong to the core. Kaden is possessive and obsessive, but freaking delicious. This man will stop at nothing to get his woman, and doesn’t care how forbidden it is. Both characters go through it within this book, which brings in the trauma bonding. You felt the emotions and love bleed from the pages. But what has me so weak at the knees is how much Kaden cares for Melody. The lengths he will go through to protect her. To have her. She’s his and no one will come between that. This was filled with steamy spice, unhinged decisions, trauma and healing. It’s the kind of book you cannot put down, and need to force yourself to. You’ll get mad, excited, get hot and bothered and will even have your feet kicking at the banter. This is the type of read that’ll stick with you long after closing the book. Highly recommend!

From that day, he protects her from anyone and anything. Kaden is immersed into a dark world to feed his need for blood. He would give up Melody just to quell the urge. He spends time with her as her masked lover. Those scenes were VERY hot. He never tells her his secret.
I was not expecting the gory scene with the eyeballs.
Knock, Knock, his future is calling. In walks his future boss and his henchman (Kaden's friend). Kaden has not told Melody his plan and threats ensue where the boss gives Kaden another chance to back out, he doesn't. . . boy does he learn his lesson. The boss, Ivan, gives Melody paper for an address Kaden will be going to. She got the shock of her life and lost Kaden.
Kaden starts over that night and "dies" to begin anew with his boss. Five months after he goes missing, she starts therapy and learns to process her grief and never seeing him again. A year later, she stops contacting his phone (she was doing it to process grief). Melody finds another love that comes into her life that a WALKING RED FLAG. . . Dylan.
Six years later, we read Kaden's POV. She has been engaged to Dylan for 4 years at this point. Watch out Melody, Kaden's coming. I will say, there were no sex scenes between her and Dylan, I guess they weren't good enough to write home about. . . HA! Kaden comes back in their lives, but there aren't questions, that is one part that bothered me. Everyone should have been fawning over him and wondering where he was all that time. He comes back and everything goes back to normal.
Kaden comes back swinging, and shows Melody who Dylan really is behind closed doors and where he goes on those trips to California. . . big twist!
The Russian Roulette scene, I was on EFFING PINS AND NEEDLES, THE EDGE OF MY CHAIR, I DID NOT BREATHE THAT ENTIRE SCENE!!!!
HEA happens, but it takes a while to get there. This was a great dark romance that filled all the boxes. I loved the author note in the end.

This book was seriously messed up, and I absolutely loved it.
It is a dark step-sibling taboo romance, and it fully delivers on that darkness. The relationship is undeniably toxic and deeply twisted, but I have to admit I was drawn to Kaden’s obsessive love. There is something intense and almost hypnotic about how far his feelings for Melody go. His love does not recognize limits, and that is both disturbing and compelling.
That said, I do think some parts could have been handled differently. I do not want to give spoilers, but certain major moments, especially Kaden’s return and the wedding scenes, felt like they passed too quickly considering how traumatic those events actually were. Those moments had the potential to hit much harder emotionally.
Overall, Kaden and Melody’s story was gripping in its own way. Just go into this book knowing exactly what you are getting. It is extremely toxic, deeply unsettling, and completely messed up, but if that is what you are looking for, it delivers.

Melody is seen as a very optimistic individual. Honestly, she also brought even Kaden out of his full on gloomy vibe... atleast with her. He is thoroughly unhinged and thankfully there were some lines he didn't cross.The epilogue was funny and somehow it seems karma comes in form of a mini you.😈
I only would take off .5 a star because the ex situation while dealt with there wasn't an apology. Everything towards the ex, marriage, and "initiation" was very quick. I was confused on how she was initiated in but that might be because I read alot of books where that would have been done differently.

What really made this story stand out was how it began with Kaden and Melody as children and slowly built their relationship over the years. Watching their bond evolve from innocence into complete obsession made the story feel even more unsettling and addictive. Honestly I was not a fan of this 🫤. It starts slow and goes on this way for quite a bit until it turns into a lot of smut.
Kaden was a psychotic creep. He leaves for 6 years … and then comes back. He has been on a murderous spree for the mob and has accomplished his agreement with his pakhan /friend Ivan. He is back for his stepsister Melody, whom he is obsessed/in love with, who is engaged to Dylan now.
Dylan has something else going on to make him a bad guy. This was only done to try to make Kaden seem not as bad but that was not possible. Psycho who kills for fun vs (what Dylan was … don’t want to give it away). Yah no. They are both nasty but one does not equal the other 🙄. There is no conversation between Dylan and Melody once the big reveal comes out. Like was he so insistent on being with her and marrying her when he had THAT going on. It made no sense.
So for me the issue was the gross psycho male lead, spineless female lead, and the Dylan thing that made no sense. Had to skim my way through just to get through the book 😬.
