Gracie and Jacob grew up together, but then were separated for so many years that Jacob forgot who she was. They're reunited at a wedding and it's like they've only been apart for a few days.
More time passes and now they are in the same city and get engaged. Then a humongous life altering change is facing them. Will their relationship withstand this huge change? Will their mothers help or hinder?
I loved Gracie, at first, with her unbridled joy and love of Jacob. But then, when life didn't go the way she wanted...she got a little sidetracked in her treatment of Jacob. And Gracie's mother? I see where Faith got her anger issues! Good grief. For a Pastor's wife, she had major anger management issues and I think she was bipolar as well. The beginning chapter was Chloe telling Gracie she needed to move out and make her own way in life, yet when she and Jacob got engaged, she flew into a hissy fit that Gracie needs a lot more than six months to decide things. Then when the major life change happens...Chloe goes absolutely berserk. I'm glad our Pastor's wife has a gentle, quiet spirit!
Jacob was great, but he did need some tutoring in how to talk to women. I'm just very glad he didn't let his coworker, Jill, think she had any chance with him. That vixen... 😠
I enjoyed this book, although it's not one of my favorites because I don't identify with Gracie. Faulk does a good job in illustrating the commitments needed for marriage, for both the bride and the groom.
Anywhere was an adorable story about a young woman falling in love and learning to make her own decisions in life without that "help" of family. That hero was so sweet and patient. I really enjoyed the book.
It was great to finally get Gracie's story. She kept the same spirit of adventure she had as a young girl and I liked the fact that she knew what she wanted out of life - to be a wife and mother - and she was willing to wait until she found just the right man. For her, that man was her childhood friend and partner in crime, Jacob. This was a thoroughly enjoyable story and, as with all of Jenn Faulk's books, it also had a lot of spiritual depth. Another winner for this talented author!
