Pretty basic and high level overview of the American history. Was a bit too dry to my taste, lacked stories, anecdotes and any for of analysis. Many events seemed to have been overly simplified and subjected to the author's interpretation.

This book was a lifesaver. I never enjoyed history classes too much, with all the boring class time, note-taking, and date studying. So I decided to test out of it in college. All I did was read this book and make a timeline of my own and I passed easily. The book has witty writing, great pictures, simple summaries. Awesome.

Nice light overview of US Historical events, concentrated on Political events but with a sprinkling of social and economic events as well. Up to 2006.
The short biographies of First Ladies in the index was nice.
