I wish I had written a review of the first book in this series, "The Magical Mail Logs of Phoenix Firebolt" (I did write Paula an email as soon as I finished it), but all I can say is, start with that one, then read this one, and allow yourself to be drawn into this world. It may be a fantasy but it conveys such a depth of meaning, such a deep understanding of what life should be, that it just blows me away. Paula Lester has several series, and each has a distinctive "voice," but these Mosshollow books touch my heart and soul like nothing I've read in years. I heartily recommend them to anyone with a sensitive soul.

I do enjoy the series. The characters are individual and unique. The FMC, Phoenix, is lightly flawed but committed to her people and her town. The world building is vivid however, it is highly repetitive. That is the only complaint that I have about the book/series. It feels like you are reading the same information over and over throughout. Sometimes it fits, and sometimes it's just a barrier for forward movement. Maybe it's supposed to enhance the "cozy vibes"? Phoenix and the town really pull together in this one to battle bureaucracy. In doing so, Phoenix begins to find her own magic and the potential for a love interest. I think. Sort of? Based on the way it's written the hints are there at least. I do plan to read the next in the series.

Mosshollow is the kind of place that stays with you long after the last page. Phoenix, Parsnip, and the rest of the villagers are warm, memorable characters, and the creativity woven into this magical world makes it feel real and full of life. Grimsworth’s inspection adds such a fun and thoughtful layer as he tries to fit living enchantments into rigid standards. Original, beautifully written, and impossible to put down—I already can’t wait to return for the next book.

Beautiful use of the English language

Paula Lester 's use of the English language puts her works on the same plane as classic authors from history. It is lyrical in nature causing a feeling of pride of authorship to feed the hunger of the reader for MORE.She creates her "people" in such a way that the reader feels like a member of the village family. I cannot wait to read her next book.

Another wonderful part of the Enchanted Post Chronicles!

I love this series! There are charming characters, magic in abundance, shapeshifters (and other magical/mythical beings), an adorable Puffin, and best of all no cliffhanger ending.
This book (and the others in the series) is perfect for curling up in a comfy reading chair with cup of tea and enjoying each page about the charms of Mosshollow.
I am very much looking forward to the next one.

I probably shouldn't have read it so soon after the first book. What seemed charming, became annoying, in particular the repetetive description of things, hands (!), movement... I mean twice perfect, three times ok but when you read about it again and again... I started skimming around the 75% mark and finished by skipping entire paragraphs. Since I have already bought third book, I will leave it or at least a year before reading it....

I love how delightfully charming and unique Mosshollow is! Phoenix and Parsnip are delightful and so are the other residents. I love the creativity used in building this wonderful world. This just meanders, full of its cottagecore vibes and everyday characters that make this book a delight. There is no action or adventure, no spicy romances or even a murder to solve, but just the day to day goings on in the little enchanted village of Mosshollow. A great slow burn of a series to read when you have the time (and the inclination) to just exist in the story.
