I remember reading this book in fourth grade--it was incredibly funny, but now I'm trying to find another Valentine's/Fantasy read--I've forgotten the title, but it was pretty good. It's about this girl who finds a necklace in which Eros (or Cupid) is trapped, and she gets help from these two flying mice, Jerome and a female mouse...does anybody know this book?? PLEASE HELP!! :)

A great story, i really like it.
It talks about a young student in kindergarten called "Fawn", she and her friends want to help thier teacher "miss Earth" to fall in love.
They use magical cupids to help her to love specific person, and then the story begins.
I recommend it for people who want to improve the language skills, and also kids.

Entered the Ann Miner collection. "Life is too short for bad books."

It wasn't AWFUL. Just... Bleh. No thanks. Like, I could've finished it if I needed the AR points. But juh eeeeze.

Ps. Didn't really finish. I literally read my own books all day so it balances out.

I liked Fawn finding her voice in this tale, but the rest of it was almost too silly. On the other hand, I'm reading it from an adult perspective and I think a middle grader would find it pretty funny. Just enough seriousness to keep it from being too much.

Four Stupid Cupid wasn't really that good of a book for me. It didn't really made me go WOW! But it might have to younger readers.

Four Stupid Cupid by Gregory Maguire might be a good book for pre-teens. The point of this book was to tell us how strong love is but more of a pg-13 love. Family love, teacher-y love and teen love.

This book is about a girl name Fawn receiving a present from her aunt that lives in Greece. It seemed like a boring vase at first, but then one day Fawn brought the vase to school for a presentation, her classmate broke it and POOF! 4 cupids flew out like bees! Well of course, the kids didn't know what they were until Theckla, another kid said they look like flying babies with wings.

The four cupids explain to them what happened and how they ended up living in a vase, well more like sleeping, and they begged them to send them back to Greece. They didn't know that Greece was halfway across the earth from Vermont, and that they were asleep for thousands and millions of years!

Fawn was shocked but then she realize she have this chance to help her teacher Ms. Earth to fall in love with someone and not be all grumpy at Valentines Day. Cupid could make people fall in love right? But these 4 cupids are .. not so good at that. Since they have been sleeping for a long long time, they lost some of their skills of shooting.

AND THAT, made the story funny because Ms Earth suddenly fall in love with weird things like frogs, balloons and the janitor!

Overall this book was fine. It can be a great children book but not a teen book. I give it a 3/5

We started reading "The Hamlet Chronicles," by Gregory Maguire, while one of the children who listen to me read was away from home helping a friend recover from surgery. She didn't want to miss any of the remaining books in the Great Brain series!

Well, the Hamlet Chronicles -- of which "Four Stupid Cupids" is the fourth book of seven -- have proven to be an enjoyable diversion. And the books have gotten better as we've gone along. The writing has improved, the characters have developed, and the stories have gotten more interesting. The characters are somewhat caricatured, to some extent even comical or cartoonish, but in a way that helps to accentuate the various qualities that do tend to distinguish different personalities in life. Although the author probably does lean to the liberal left, and there are hints of "political correctness" in the books, there's nothing over-the-top or in-your-face, but more of a light-hearted laugh-at-yourself sort of fun.

The books are quirky and humorous, but also thoughtful and sweet. All of us have been enjoying them, and have eagerly devoured them over the past month or so. We're actually ready for the final book in the series at this point, and we're all looking forward to seeing the conclusion.

We just got a "new" car that doesn't have a radio, so we were looking for a good book to read aloud while on a short road trip.

This one was just the ticket!

My 3 boys (ages 5, 9, and 12) loved it! It was perfect for their sentimentality toward girls, and it had us all laughing.

We're ready to pick up the other books in the series.

Cute book. Well written for kids. Not quite what I wanted in a book. I can see my Neices get a kick out if it though.

this is a lovely and funny Valentine's Day story. I'm sure most kids will really like it and be able to identify with one or other of the acting characters.
