זהו גם סיפורו של הדור הבא במשפחה, ילדיו של חנוך, אשר יוצאים למסעות מרתקים של התבגרות ובחירה בחופש, נגד כל הסיכויים.
ישי שריד מגולל סיפור מרתק על אודות תקווה וייאוש, משפחה ואבהות ועל התעקשותו של אדם טוב לרפא ולהציל בזמנים קשים. העלילה מתרחשת לפני אלפיים שנה, אך קרובה מאוד לימינו אלה.

Yishai Sarid (Hebrew: ישי שריד) is an Israeli author, novelist and lawyer. His second book, Limassol, became an international best-seller. His fourth book, The Third, became a major subject of public and literary discussion in Israel and won the Bernstein literary award. Sarid works full-time as an attorney, formerly as a public prosecutor and now privately.

inerestingly set 2000 years ago in Roman times in a village in the Galilee, today an archeological site near Tiberias. One would expect the writer to understand this period better, but he presents a modern story in an ancient setting.

Hanoch takes one of his sheep to Jerusalem as a Pesach sacrifice, and then changes his mind in the last minute because of sentiments towards the sheep which his daughter raised.

Also the entertainers in the troupe which Matty joins are both male and female, although in Roman times only males performed on stage, sometimes wearing masks for female roles.

His daughter, Shulamit, follows in her father's footsteps becoming a doctor, albeit he presents this as an unusual event.

These are just a few anachronistic events which I, who am not a historian, picked up on.

I would have also expected Sarid to mention Jesus cursing the town, since he writes about Jesus staying there and speaking in the synagogue.

ספר מרגש ומרתק. כתוב לכאורה בסגנון של אגדה אבל דבר זה לא מפריע אלא אף מעצים את הסיפור. בספר מופיעה ביקורת סמויה על הממסד הדתי הקשוח של אז. כמו כן, ישו מוצג בעין ביקורתית ואף נלעגת כשהישגיו כביכול בריפוי חולים ונכים, מוצגים כמגוחכים ולא נכונים.
