A Loud Mind: Poems on Mental Illness, Trauma, and Survival

A Loud Mind is a deeply personal collection of poetry written from inside the noise.

This book lives in the spaces between love and loss, survival and despair, tenderness and trauma, chaos and the courage to keep breathing.

Through fragments of lived experience, Elizabeth writes about mental illness, depression, anxiety, grief, motherhood, and the internal battles many people carry but rarely speak aloud.

Content Advisory:
This collection contains themes of mental illness, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, self-harm, and suicide. Reader discretion is advised.

Elizabeth Sanders is a poet, wife, and mother of three living in Southwest Missouri. She writes about motherhood, marriage, grief, healing, mental health, family life, and the beautifully messy parts of being human.

A lifelong lover of books, music, and staying up long after the rest of the world falls asleep, Elizabeth has always found her way back to writing. Poetry became the place she learned to set things down — the ache, the joy, the overthinking, the love, and the things people don’t always know how to say out loud. She writes what most people swallow.

She drinks too much coffee, loves thrifting for tiny treasures and adding to an ever-growing stack of books she swears she’ll eventually read. Her home is also shared with Alex, a tuxedo cat with suspiciously penguin-like tendencies, and Piper Mae, a puppy who firmly believes personal space is a myth.

Elizabeth is the author of This Lovely Mess and A Loud Mind.
