If you love a retelling, fantasy, and romance, but want something that feels like nothing else you’ve read? Look no further than Leslie O’Sullivans Rockin Fairy Tales series. She takes you to her own version of Hollywood that’s filled with magic and new spins on fairy tales with a Shakespearean flair!
Emerald Spire is no exception in her take on Sleeping Beauty and Jack and the beanstalk. I loved Tuk and his rhyming and lyrical dialogue and Aurora’s passion for music and their journey together in finding love. But between arguing fae royalty, jealous boyfriends, and a dark side to the music industry the path isn’t an easy one.
Filled with nods to her previous books (but this one can stand alone still) and a peek into a new view of Hollywood, you’ll adore this fun modern fairy tale romance!
*I was given a free advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.*
If you love fairy tale retellings wrapped in fantasy, romance, and something that feels entirely fresh, Leslie O’Sullivan’s Rockin’ Fairy Tales series is pure magic—and Emerald Spire is a dazzling finale.
Blending Sleeping Beauty with the whimsical charm of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, this story sweeps you into a reimagined Hollywood alive with fae royalty, lyrical dialogue, and a touch of theatrical flair. Tuk (Tek) was an absolute standout—his rhythmic, poetic voice added such a unique layer to the story—while Aurora’s passion for music made her journey feel vibrant and real. Their romance? Everything you could want: tender, playful, and undeniably electric.
Of course, it’s not all smooth sailing. Between clashing fae courts, jealous lovers, and a darker edge to the music industry, the path to love is anything but easy. While there’s a small section about a third of the way through that slows the pacing, it’s well worth pushing through—especially if you’ve enjoyed earlier books in the series.
Even as a standalone, this story shines. The worldbuilding is rich, the characters are memorable, and the chemistry between Tek and Rora is undeniable. The meet-cute is charming, the banter sparkles, and yes—the spice delivers.
What truly makes this book special is how it ties everything together. It offers a satisfying, slightly bittersweet conclusion, wrapping up the series with heart, humour, and just the right amount of magic.
This was a cozy, enchanting read I’d happily revisit—and I’m already eager to grab a physical copy and dive into the rest of the series.
✨ A perfect blend of romance, fantasy, and lyrical storytelling—highly recommended! ✨
I LOVED being back in the unique, enchanting Rockin' Fairytales universe O'Sullivan has created. The villains are hilarious but also legitimately terrifying--especially as a metaphor for what Hollywood sometimes does to its stars; it's eerily on-point!
The details are original, compelling, and just super cool to read about. Tek was a wonderful creation and I loved seeing the ways in which he showed Aurora his world, and her reactions to it. I was also impressed by the ways in which Aurora and Tek grow and change from the first to last pages. They're truly not the same people they were--and isn't that the entire point of stories? To show how certain events require the characters to dig deep and find the strength inside them that they didn't know they had?
EMERALD SPIRE does an excellent job testing the leads' mettle and having them prevail in ways that feel earned and satisfying and romantic.
It's bitter sweet to say good-bye to the Rockin' Fairy Tales. Leslie has outdone herself in this final book (an adult re-imagining of Jack and the Beanstalk and Sleeping Beauty). The world building is superb and draws you into the story from the very start. Tek and Aurora are deeply developed, not just initially, but it's a development that continues throughout their journey. Oh, and the slow-burn of their relationship... it's enough to have you wishing for a Fairy or Sunstone of your very own. With phenomenal secondary characters that play defining roles in its movement, this book will keep you captivated, with thoughts of it lingering long after reading "The End".
*I'm do greatful to Leslie O'Sullivan for allowing me to be a part of her ARC team for this series. Each book is unique, compelling and a definate must read. This is a voluntary review.
3.25-3.5 Stars 4 Stars on premise and worldbuilding and creative reinterpretation of classic fairy tale(s), especially the quality of Tek rhymes and riddles. 3 Stars on writing flow and inconsistent pacing.
I enjoyed this addition and finale to a wonderfully fun adapted fairy tale series and was happy with the author's choice of modified tales and characters. There was a section about a third into the story that dragged, but if you liked the previous works, it's worth it in the end to push through. Bittersweet closure.
'And Aurora must make an impossible choice: Follow her musical dream... or trust her heart to a fairy.'
The characters were very appealing and likeable and complicated and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and exciting and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. All in all a satisfying conclusion to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

Love all of her books. They always keep me entertained. Love how the author makes her own spins on retellings. This is the last book in the Rockin Fairytale series. Love the slow burn in this book. Aurora gets a chance to be an opening act at Stalk.. Tek is drawn to Aurora. He wants to help her with her singing. Tek is not who she thinks he is. He’s a fairy prince. They both start to have feelings for each other. It’s not so safe for Aurora. Now she has to choose between the prince or her music career.
This was a great cozy read! The romance between Aurora and Tek had everything you could want-cute, cuddly and real. The plot was fun, the spice was excellent. I hadn’t read any of the others in the series, but this has been written as an interconnected standalone and so was easy to follow. All round a perfect magical romance.
I received an ARC directly from the author and all opinions are my own.
Book 5 in the Rockin’ Fairy Tales series: a clever Sleeping Beauty meets Jack and the Beanstalk retelling with a rock & roll twist. It hooked me from the start with strong characters, solid plot, imaginative world-building, and a beautifully developed romance. Highly enjoyable—definitely worth reading. I’d read more from this author. 4.5 stars from me.

You know me, l love some retellings and this one was one of the best l ever read! I loved the creativity of Sleeping Beauty meet Jack and the Beanstalk. The writing is really entertaining and takes you in the story. You forget about everything else and just want to keep reading. I mean I read it over a weekend when it usually takes me a week or more to finish a book. thank you for the opportunity to review this Arc!
The book was highly enjoyable and with amazing characters and worldbuilding. The writing was a bit tough and the pacing was very off at times, but the relationship between Tek and Rora more than made up for it. The meet-cute between the main couple, their amazing chemistry and the rhymes all make this book definitely worth reading.
This was so fun! I love a fairytale retelling but throw in the rock ‘n roll twist?! I enjoyed this so much! I haven’t read the rest of the series so I’ll have to go back- but this was a great intro to this author and series!
Thank you to NetGalley and City Owl Press for the ARC! All opinions are my own.
This was such a fun read. The romance was the perfect amount of cuddly and cute! And the modern twist on the fairytale just made the book so much better. The pacing was a bit off at times, but overall the book was great!
This is the first time I’ve read this author, and I absolutely loved it. Tek and Aurora were great. I loved the world building and the description. This was so wonderfully written and I was completely captivated with this one. I’m definitely going to have to go back and read the others.
I really enjoyed reading Emerald Spire, I really love the way Leslie O'Sullivan takes fairytales and creates her own unique retelling, the creativity and the lavish descriptions that filter throughout this novel really takes you on a journey. I love the characters Aurora and Tuk - his rhyming made for a fun read and I love how all the other characters from the previous books are all in this one too. I love how Leslie writes her series, each book is always engaging and this one is no different. I was captured by the plotline and the progression kept me hooked, I loved how it played out and that last chapter had my emotions on high! I loved the epilogue too, I felt it was such a satisfying ending.
What a fun, whimsical modern fairytale retelling of Sleeping Beauty & Jack and the Beanstalk.
This story is the last of the series but each book can be read as a standalone. We do meet the previous characters in this book again.
The world building immediately drew me in but I stayed for Aurora and Tuk's love story. It was playful and sweet. The characters are well written making me root for them through the book.
I am always fond of reading fairy tale retellings and this one is no different! Thank you so much to the author for this arc copy and I can't wait to see more books from this author come out!
I absolutely loved this book! Its a book I definitely would read again. I also need to get a physical copy and need to read the rest of them, even though they are standalone books! I highly recommend it!
