Living in Manhattan and working at Virago, one of the most successful women’s magazines in the nation is a dream come true for Lindsay Pinke. After five years of being overworked and underpaid in the research department, she’s finally noticed by Colette Duarte, the provocative executive editor of the magazine. She offers Lindsay the coveted role as her personal assistant, but first she must prove she’s worthy of the position. Lindsay must interview Victoria Nox, the elusive and extremely private CEO of Nox Media Holdings. If Lindsay succeeds, Colette promises her great things for her publishing career. If Lindsay fails, her chance as a respected writer will be cut short.

A chance meeting with Victoria at a high class function puts into motion a series of events that leaves Lindsay blindsided by her strong physical reaction to the magnetic but foreboding woman. Now that Lindsay has become a balm on Victoria's soul, is she strong enough to help Victoria confront her shameful past, and stop one woman's sick games once and for all?

I didn't think I was going to like this book this much, but here we are.
When I requested for this title on NetGalley, I didn't do it with a lot of expectations because I just don't like 50 Shades of Grey but what made me look at this book twice was the lesbian element. I've wanted to read a F/F book for a while now but most of the books I found were M/M and I'd read some of them already so this was my chance. And so I was waiting, without wanting it, some really shit story (because, er, it's kinda based on 50SoG, duh) but I'm so so glad that wasn't the case at all. It was such a relief to me.
I really enjoyed this quick pace that Grant has and she doesn't use many superlative or that sort of thing that I find a lot in erotic books and I hate. I can see myself reading more of her books in the near future. Plus, this is the first book in a trilogy, and I'm so waiting for the second one!

Let's start!

description

We first got Lindsay Pinke, a 24, soon 25, years old woman who works at the Virago, one of the most powerful magazine for women. She's cute and normal and she wants to be the personal assistant of the executive editor of the magazine, Colette Duarte and for the very start we know she's gay. She also lives with this Jayden guy, a photographer, in Manhattan. Jayden is so funny and sweet, I liked him a lot. Anyways, Lindsay is pretty simple when it comes to clothing and she's rather shy but she's not silly whatsoever and wants more for her and her future.
I thought I wasn't going to like Lindsay because she's the "Anastasia" of this story but nope, she's not like that at all. She's independent and she face things. She doesn't run away from her feelings but she also has flaws, obviously. She takes desicions sometimes without thinking any further and I honestly didn't know how she got herslef in so many messes; I'm telling you: unlucky should be her middle name but like I was saying I liked that she was sarcastic, funny, intelligent and, although she was innocent, she wasn't naive or stupid at all.
There's something, though, I don't really get and I might reread that part. Was Lindsay a virgin or she just didn't have any experience with girls? Because if she was a virgin then I must get one of these book vaginas that don't seem to feel any sort of pain when they are, well, sexually used for the first time. Really.

description

Then we have Colette, Lindsay's boss.
Since the very first moment I knew something was off with that woman. It was the way she moved, how she looked Lindsay and how she touched Lindsay's knee even when that was the first time she talked to her alone. My mind was screaming sexual harassment. The woman was awful, yeah?
I was trying to think reasons why she was like that but I just got to the conclusion she had some mental issues, add power, money and a voracious sexual appetite on top of that and you'll have one hell of a crazy bitch.

description

Then there's Victoria Nox.
I found this character interesting but quite simple. I mean, yes, Victoria is very beautiful, intelligent and powerful but I believe she isn't shown like she was suppose to be. During the short time I was only heard about her, I created in my mind this idea of how she had to be. I mean, everyone said she was ruthless and all of that but she wasn't even that bossy for me. I liked that Victoria didn't push Lindsay or was aggressive with her, really, don't get me wrong, she was actually really nice and likeable but I was waiting for something more from her. Maybe a little more of drama from her and not around her. Long story short: Victoria lacked, somehow, of domain.

description

The rest of the characters didn't leave a great impression to me because Lindsay's world got caught in the middle of Colette and Victoria's, so everyone was pretty much left behind. I do have to say I liked Jayden a lot and I want to see more of him; his sister was okay for me, too.
Oliver and Maia were also likeable but there's something about Benjamin I just can't seem to figure out. Victoria and him have some sort of history and I'm pretty that's going to create some trouble in the next book.

And, honestly, even when I liked that I wasn't thrown sex in the face all the time, the scenes were just nah and normal. I wanted something more sexy and powerful. Since this is an erotic book, I was expecting for something more.
I wanted something like

description

description

So, I know we can get some more of that, Grant. I trust you.
I'm also waiting to find out in the next book what hell is going on between Victoria and Benjamin, and I want Victoria to take more of that powerful image she's got and be like that and I want Colette to be thrown into a hole full of crystals and poisonous throns.

This book is not good.

It reminds me of another book that used to be a Twilight fanfiction.

I found the heroine to be weak and naive. The boss to be odd instead of villainous. And the love interest was too one dimensional. I'm sure the other story that this book is inspired by has it's flaws, but this seems to be a watered down attempt to try and gain readers off of it's infamy. Save your time and skip this one. I don't think anyone will like it.

1 star because it's the lowest you can go on Goodreads, and that is a shame.

While I usually enjoy reading different types of stories, especially those that can push the boundaries of my comfort level, that wasn't the case here for me. And that's a shame because the storyline has promise because of the triangle of Victoria, Lindsay and Collette is quite complex...Not the typical love triangle.

For me, I have to have characters that feel real and the type you can either have coffee with or if they're "bad" people, they make you very angry. I didn't get that with any of them. Lindsay was supposed to be the "innocent" one but I didn't get that impression. All in all a disappointment when I had higher expectations.

I wish to thank Ms. Grant for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Although this isn't my usual genre, the cover caught my eye and then the blurb as well. The main characters and story hooked me right away. I thought Lindsay was a pushover at times, especially to her roommate. I'm pretty sure he was supposed to come across as loving and caring but at times I thought he came across as manipulating. All in all, it kept me reading so a solid four stars!

Even with the clever title and lesbian marketing ploys, 50 SHADES OF PINK leaves a lot to be desired.

After 5 years of working in the drudges at Virago Magazine, Lindsay Pinke finally has a chance to make or break her career…if she can get her shit together long enough to impress her idol Colette Duarte, executive editor of Virago Magazine. Colette gives Lindsay a task: interview and write a story about Victoria Nox, CEO of Nox Media Holdings, and the coveted position is hers. Victoria isn't known for her transparency in general, but when it comes to Colette, she's downright opaque. As Lindsay spends more time in Victoria's company, she's slowly seduced by the older woman who takes her on a journey of sexual discovery she never dreamed possible.

50 SHADES OF PINK bills itself as the lesbian version of that other popular "Shades Of" book. As my opinion of that book isn't high, I've avoided any knock-off like the plague, however I was hopeful that this might be a better, hotter girl-on-girl version. Sadly, I was mistaken.

Unfortunately, the grammar and consistency errors were glaring, and the storyline was simply cringe-worthy. From phantom haircuts to overnight sexual prowess to head-scratching sentences, 50 SHADES OF PINK had a "huh?" for everyone. Like this gem from Lindsay's roommate Jayden:

"Of course I am, but I also have some suspensions."

I'm pretty sure the author meant suspicions. Or maybe opinions? Questions? It really could go in any of those directions. Or maybe Jayden was a closet Dom who had some cool suspension contraptions in his walk-in closet. Whatever.

And look, I know all of us women get our monthly visitor, it's a fact of life. However nothing about it should be attempted to be made into a sexy thing. Ever. Just...NO NO NO. As the bloody first sexual encounter, it totally turned me off and made me want to quit reading. As if that's not bad enough, it was mentioned repeatedly throughout the book...is this a fetish I don't know about? AWKWARD!! Even without the period play, the sex was just eh, and while I usually love hot girl-on-girl stories, this book just didn't carry the erotic punch it could have. All of the main characters were mildly unlikeable and I just didn't connect with any one of them.

Bottom line: Skip this bad knockoff of another bad book. It was poorly written the first time and this isn't much better.

I was in the mood for a lesbian erotic romance story. (Yes I am still slightly obsessed with 50 Shades of Grey and stories like it. Call me weird okay). I stumbled upon this. After much hesitation, I finally decided to try it.

Recently turned 25 year old Lindsay Pinke has spent five years working in the research department of Virago, a successful women's magazine in Manhattan. Lindsay finally gets her big break with being the personal assistant of executive director of the company Colette Duarte. Her only task is to get an interview with the evasive Victoria Nox, CEO of Nox Media Publishing.

A meeting with Victoria Nox set things in motion that Lindsay would have never expected. After a few chances encounters, Lindsay learns more about Colette and Lindsay's past and Colette's true motives as to why she chose her to do the interview. Best part to me was when Lindsay went to Nox Media Publishing to interview Victoria and Victoria was standoffish and slightly threatening, leaving Lindsay running out the office in tears. She looks at the assistant and says "Your boss is bitch." before she leaves the building. Best line ever!

While I enjoyed this book, it was a lot better than I expected it to be, the ending left a lot to be desired to me. I wanted to know more the decisions they chose in the end and how it was going to affect them and I also wanted to know more about Victoria's former lover.

While the ending left a lot to be desired in my opinion, it made me want to know more. More about Colette and her relationship with Victoria. More about Victoria's relationship with her college lover and how tragedy stuck. More about Victoria's relationship with Benjamin, Colette's brother. I don't know if KT Grant was trying to mysterious and not give the readers everything about her past and character at once but it made me really disappointed. I just wanted to know more about Victoria! Let alone I wanted to know more Lindsay. We get a glimpse of her family life and her best friend but other than that we don't know much about her. She's shy but can be assertive if not stupid at times. But we don't know much about her life before she moved to Manhattan. She had to have some romantic relationships or have crushes. It seems like she wasn't attracted to anyone until Victoria which is not realistic. This wasn't a satisfying ending to me at all (even if there is more to come, hopefully).

I need the next book. Knowing its going to be trilogy, made me a little happier. Now all I need is patience which I don't have. lol

I want to thank the publishers and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this wonderful book.

Yes, it's based on the genre of 50 Shades of Grey, but under the guise of the lesbian version of it. It has some of sense of 50 Shades, but the sex scenes don't get going til halfway through the book. It's a great storyline from a female POV like Christian Grey.

I found the characters to be rather good and you hate Colette Duarte for the way she uses Lindsay Pinke. But I LOVED Victoria Nox as the other woman. Can't wait for the next in the series of KT Grant's books.

I received a free copy of this book through NetGalley.

I wasn't entirely sure about this book when I requested it. After a little research I thought that I might not like it that much but I still had some hope when I started reading. Not a bad book but I think there were a lot of unused possibilities.

'50 Shades of Pink' is the story of Lindsay Pinke who works for a magazine. After years of not living up to her dreams she believes that her career might finally move on when Colette Duarte, the executive editor offers her a new position. Her task is to get an interview with Victoria Nox, a CEO who likes to keep her private life out of the spotlight. Lindsay soon learns that there's more going on between those two women and she finds herself right in the middle of the fight.

The title is a hint on another well-known book which is why I wasn't surprised to see some similarities. I understand that's quite hard to come up with all new ideas and topics when there are already that many book out there. I don't even mind the occasional retelling of a story but this book was sometimes too close to the other story. I only read part one of the trilogy which was as much as I could handle. Not sure if more things will turn out to develop in an equal direction but I missed the new spin on certain topics. Sure displaying a lesbian couple changed some things around but it just wasn't a big enough change.

The main character, Lindsay, was not entirely to my liking. Sometimes I hoped to see her as a more active person and when she was doing sometimes I could hardly relate. The same goes for most of the other characters in the book although I quite liked Victoria.
As for the story - there were not really any surprises. I guess there was supposed to be a lot of mystery but I just found it draining. The whole story took place within some days and I don't know why someone wants to convince me of big emotions in that short amount of time.

As for the sex - I think it's pretty close to the right amount within the story. There was still enough plot left and it was kind of fitting for the story but honestly, not that sexy. Maybe it's just me but it just didn't do the trick.

In the end, I think it's a good book but I expected something else. It could have been better if the author tried more to separate her story from more famous ones. I would recommend the book to fans of contemporary literature with lesbian characters. It kind of is a new spin on a well-known story but just not different enough to be really good.

50 Shades of PINK! I like the take on this book. We meet Lindsay a twenty five year old research assistant. She is given a chance to prove her self to her boss. Entering Collete Duarte, was the head of Virago, the magazine where Lindsay worked. Lindsay thinks this could be her shot to become Ms. Duarte PA. She gives her an assignment. To get a interview with the CEO of NOX Media Holdings. She meets Victoria, and instantly there is a connection between them. Little did she know that was her bosses intention after all. Lindsay is given the green light on the interview by Victoria. Lindsay is young and fun buy also inexperienced romantically and in life. Her best friend Jayden is her roommate, with a sister that is attracted to Lindsay. But she rejects her. Collete is a forty four year old woman who is the head of Virago magazine, a woman's magazine based in Seattle. Mrs. Robinson enough said. Victoria Nox one of the youngest women to become a CEO of Nox Media Holding at the age of 27. The woman version of Christian Grey. In the story there is a feud between Collete and Victoria. Throughout the book you'll see that Lindsay is place right in the middle not only but by her boss Collete. Lindsay and Victoria become close and find out the secret that has caused her all her problem between her and her boss. I enjoyed all these characters especially Lindsay and Victoria. They have this chemistry its hot!

It's nothing like 50 Shades

I would definitely have given this book a different name. It was a nice love story, but I feel like it was falsely advertised. You have one thing in mind it turns out to be something completely different.

I swear to god, this is one of the worst books i've ever read. Did a 12 year old write this?
The theme, the place setting is fabulous. The character introduction is one of the best things, but the dialogues took a tremendous downfall. This book could have been a major hit.

KT Grant author of 50 Shades of Pink paints a delightful picture of the colorful relationships of women who love and care about each other. Victoria and Lindsay possess great chemistry and their relationship moves along at a nice clip. Their love and support of one another are one many folks would relish in spit of Victoria's dark secret.
50 Shades of Pink is an easy, enjoyable read. The story elements and character developments well define.

Full disclaimer: I have never read, nor do I have any desire to read "50 Shades of Gray." I had heard some people comment that this story was supposedly a knock off on that. I have no idea is this is true. Besides, I don't go into reading stories for the sole purpose of reading a "knock-off" unless it is stated as such from the onset. Also, apparently this is a book one is a series/duo/trilogy.

Also note: as is typical for KT Grant stories, there is lots of sexy bits in here.

I'm not going to spend any time recapping this story. The blurb pretty much nails it, and there are others who are more eloquent than I about such things. I'm going to dive right into what bothered me about the book.

First, I had a hard time reviewing and rating this book. Usually, this is an author that I really enjoy reading. She has a nice style and plot about her stories and the characters are usually well developed.

I didn't feel that so much in this story. And I believe it also had a few noticeable grammatical issues.

Another thing that was off-putting was that I did not know it was a book one until after I finished the book; had known that at the beginning I might have read it a bit differently, or not read it until the series completed. However, it was a quick read, even if it wasn't one of my favorites by Ms. Grant.

That's not to knock the story here. I'm sure I will re-read again at some point, and I may change my mind on how I feel about it; don't let my two star rating put you off from reading it...it is an OK book. It's just that the story never completely resolves, which is disappointing. I think this might be one of those stories that a few days from now I will not have a whit's ideas what it was about. The ending felt weird to me. Like it was rushed and didn't seem natural in approach.

I think I'll either pass on the rest of this series, or wait until the story is finished before I go back and re-read and re-assess my overall thoughts on this particular story/series.

For now: 2 star

This Review and others can be found on my blog: http://talkwordy2me.blogspot.com/

50 Shades of Pink is a lesbian version of the best selling 50 Shades of Grey. In this book we have Lindsay Pinke who is working at a women's magazine as a researcher while hoping to move up within the company. Lindsay finally gets an opportunity to advance by doing an article for Colette who is the editor of the magazine. Lindsay is set to interview Victoria Nox, CEO of Nox Holdings, but finds more than she bargained for. Victoria and Colette have a past shrouded in mystery that will effect Lindsay more than she can ever know.

This book definitely tried to follow along the path of 50 SoG minus the red room of pain. I very much enjoyed 50 SoG so I was excited to read this book to see a different take on it. I also really liked the cover. There seemed like a bunch of drama here that happened in this book and was implied for the future books. The one thing I would have liked to change about SoG I would have also liked to change here. The fact that Lindsay is just so naive and awe shucks is utterly annoying. Clear signs that stuff is all likes of messed up are blatantly ignored and turned into a good thing because she wants Victoria. Even when Lindsay acknowledges that there is something wrong happening she brushes it aside. I'm hoping that Lindsay grows more of a backbone in the next book. The book really should be called 50 Shades of Nox because that girl has some serious baggage - like going on a world tour type of baggage. I'm interested to see how this story plays out.

This is my first F/F book, I've read plenty of M/M books so I wanted to see how this compared. I plan to check out some more options in this category before I determine if these are for me or not.

This book was kindly provided to me by NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Though the title suggests, this book is actually not so similar with 50 Shades of Grey minus the getting an interview plot and Victoria being CEO of a company at a young age.

I think the story does have potential had it dug deeper into the characters and what they see in each other. It's a little bit difficult to get into why Victoria is so into Lindsay where all there initial meetings were not exactly pleasant. We got a glimpse on why Victoria and Colette are having animosity towards each other, though it never really said in details what happened and how that carves into Victoria's current character and behavior. It kind of felt like there are a lot of things that were just skimming at the surface.

Knowing that this is the first book towards a trilogy, I am hoping we'll get more answers and character development in the next.

So, I will be honest. The reason why I grabbed up a copy of this book was because I just had to see how the author was going to be able to turn 50 Shades of Grey into a F/F book. But let me say, holy crap I was blown away by this story!!!

Now, I will be honest and say that yes, there were some things very similar to 50 shades, but this story stands on it’s own completely. I was drawn into it from the end of the first chapter, and honestly I didn’t want it to end.

I’m not normally a fan of F/F books, just as a personal preference to me, but I will say that I am very glad that I gave this book a chance, and I will be sure to keep an eye out on future books by this author.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a quick, yet very well written, good read!

I really don't know what to say about this book. I'm glad I read it. It is outside of my usual choice and you know, a change is as good as a rest. However this book just felt weak.
I wasn't drawn to the characters, the writing didn't excite me, and I found myself wishing it would hurry up and be over. Did give it an extra star for being different though.

Very good romance.

The characters were very well done and the chemistry between these two ladies was fantastic. The relationship progressed at just the right pace, not too fast or slow. And, I enjoyed the romance as much as I did the smoking hot bedroom scenes.

An extremely satisfying read that I highly recommend.

Absolutely loved this book. The little twists and turns in the plot added to what I think is crisp writing. Lindsay and Victoria seemed an unlikely couple initially but the author knows how to take us along for the journey! Kudos to the author for tackling the "50 Shades" premise in such an innovative way.
