Two golden coins are mine. To claim the third, I must confront eldritch insanity and battle fallen gods.
My quest to slay the betrayers and free myself from the mad game has taken me deep under the earth and to the peak of storm-tossed castles. But in order to find the truth behind the kingdom’s destruction, I will need to fight my way to the edge of reality and straight into the mouth of madness.
My lovers and I are ready to face the murderous assassins and unspeakable horrors standing in our way. Together, we will overcome these challenges and venture into realms long cut off and lost. We’ll learn the truth of the kingdom’s downfall and forge a path to freedom.
Ultimately, though, we must overcome the greatest threat of all–the untrustworthy goddess who holds our lives in her hands.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit, and since I was sick while reading it, that's saying something.
The MC continues his adventures in the weird instances he and his group are delving. The expected fourth LI officially joins the harem. I am not big on her, though at least she gives the MC someone who gets his references and makes her own similar ones, despite neither of them being able to remember the source of the lines.
The intimate scenes were fairly average for the genre. And there were a few heavy handed "the author has the group find a particular weapon/device that will let them handle an upcoming battle they otherwise would fail" moments. But the author does a decent job of putting a sense of urgency into the combat scenes, making them feel more real.
The Imp is making a good addition to the Harem, though the picture is of the slime knight. There is these abandoned gardens that are pretty much sealed of from the rest of the adventurers. Luckily the Imp can see through illusions and finds a way in for them. There are mad gardeners and other servants running around. Plus the cult members are back and trying to bring the old gods back. Also we are learning that historical facts about the civil war and the matriarch aren't exactly as it has been portrayed. The MC and his harem are playing a dangerous game trying to find out the truth. Life is getting better in there base though.
Thorne is incredible with writing conspiracy and every book I read, I keep being pulled in. I love everything about this series. The world, the girls, the mystery. Highly recommend.
