It was suspenseful and had all the right elements for a dark romance Academia.
The dark Academia setting added so much depth and intensity to the storyline..
Lyra & Oliver are definitely some of my favourite characters.
But that TWIST ???? I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING.
Soo good. Highly recommend.

This story captivated me from the very start. That rarely happens to me as an avid reader. Usually it takes a few chapters before I'm interested in a story and start putting the puzzle pieces together. Within the first chapter, I was ENGROSSED in this book. The characters, the relationship turmoil, the mystery, the dialogue, the unraveling of the backstories of our characters - all of it had me hanging on word for word.
I read dark romance novels purely for smut and sex scenes with a splash of plot. I would have read this book even without smut and sex scenes, that's how well written and thought out the story arc of this novel is. The twists and turns flowed beautifully and I never felt rushed or as if the story was dragging. Every chapter felt needed and had a reason in the grand scheme of the story which is so rare to find in a romance novel.
The spicy scenes were fantastic and had me fanning myself. The build up and the sexual tension when Oliver and Lyra finally slept together was such a rollercoaster ride! All of the side characters and their storylines became clear once the mysteries were unraveled and everything was resolved.
I wish there was another book by this author for me to devour. I feel like I just had the best dinner of my life and am left without dessert. I want to read even more because this was just such a great read. I don't want to give any spoilers away, but if you're looking for an obsessive over the top, overprotective morally grey male lead with a strong, witty, brave female lead who become each other's everything this is for you. Dark academia at its finest.

I ended up really enjoying this book. I like how there was a mystery to this book in the way that for most of it, we don’t know what happened to her a year prior. But at the same time, we are in real time learning of these mysterious deaths of her ex friends.
It was really cool to see that dynamic and question who did what, and why her new love interest was friends with these obvious bad people.
But Oliver is instantly obsessed with her and I love his psychotic behavior. He rides hard for Lyra. BIG SPOILER, but I was kinda sad when he wasn’t the one killing her tormentors. I for sure thought he had figured out what happened to her the year prior and was killing them to avenge her and his POV was purposely misguiding us.
But at the same time I’m so glad it was Jade. It was a surprise to me, especially because she was supposedly ‘dead.’ It made it so good and less predictable.

This was an absolute top read for me this year so far! This was such a great book and the plot was fantastic! Like the amount of times I was on the edge of my seat was crazy! I am completely OBSESSED with Oliver! He is so fine 🤤 Lyra is blessed to have Oliver and I am so happy they got their HEA! I will forever recommend this book 😍

Absolutely loved this book. Dark and sweet. There’s a perfect blend of thrill with romance and then you have humor in there to lighten up some of the darkness. Couldn’t be happier with the turn out of the characters and ending, didn’t feel like questions were left unanswered and made a beautiful story.
Can’t wait for the next one!!!

A gripping story with great characters! I loved everything from the dark setting to the character development. A wild ride and very sexy. Definitely for thrill seekers. I'm looking forward to more from this author!

Breezed through this sooooo fast. If you enjoyed God of Malice, meet your next Killian Carson. This boy is unhinged from the jumppppp also LOVED Lyra and how she didn’t take no shit from nobody 😇
