Fatherhood is filled with all kinds of unexpected surprises in this acclaimed Adams Dynasty story from New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods.

Widower Harlan Adams had plenty of experience with children—male children, anyway. So when a rebellious teenage girl stole his truck and went for a joyride, Harlan was baffled. Then he confronted her intriguing, sassy mother and was totally thrown for a loop. While he might not know anything about girls, he thought he knew everything about women. Trouble was, Harlan had no experience with a woman who told him no…

With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.

"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."

The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.

Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.

A graduate of Ohio State University School of Journalism, Sherryl spent more than ten years as a journalist, most of them as a television critic for newspapers in Ohio and Florida. For several years she also coordinated a motivational program for the more than 8,000 employees at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

Her first book, RESTORING LOVE, was published in 1982 by Dell Candlelight Ecstasy under the pseudonym of Suzanne Sherrill. Her second book, SAND CASTLES, under the pseudonym of Alexandra Kirk, was published later that same year by Bantam. She began using her own name when she moved to the Second Chance at Love line at Berkley Publishing. In 1986, she began writing full-time and also began her long career at Silhouette Books with the Desire title NOT AT EIGHT, DARLING, set in the world of television which she covered for so many years.

In addition to her more than 75 romances for Silhouette Desire and Special Edition, she has written thirteen mysteries — nine in the Amanda Roberts series and four in the Molly DeWitt series.

When she's not writing or reading, Sherryl loves to garden, though she's not at her best on a riding lawn mower. She also loves tennis, theater, and ballet, even though her top spin has long since vanished, she's never set foot on a stage, and she's way too uncoordinated to dance. She also loves baseball and claims anyone who's ever seen Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" can understand why.

Widower Harlan Adams had plenty of experience raising four sons. But he is in for a hilarious surprise when a rebellious teenage girl steals his truck for a joyride and then wrecks it. When he confronts her intriguing mother he is even more surprised when he finds himself developing feelings for her. Janet Runningbear is a divorced attorney that moves to Texas from New York with her teenage daughter Jenny looking for a new start. When Harlan shows up to her office with her rebellious daughter she finds the headstrong rancher to be quite intriguing. Harlan is used to getting what he wants. So when Janet tries to put up road blocks to keep him from pursuing her the race is on. His sons are enjoying watching their father chase after and find love again!

While this was a tender story, I had a hard time relating to the characters and the storyline itself seemed to take forever to develop, and even then, there was no genuine drama to watch unfold.

I listened to the audiobook on 2.75x just so I could find out how the story unfolded, but my co-workers can attest to my level of frustration while trying to finish. I enjoyed the epilogue most of all, so make sure you don't miss that.

This is a cute little romance story about a rancher, widower Harlan Adams and a divorced, single parent, part Comanche woman, Janet Runningbear.
When Janet's daughter, Jenny steals Harlan's truck and runs into a tree, he catches her and has to talk to her mother about how to handle the incident, he is immediately interested in Janet. The story progress from there. A nice read.

This review is really for the series, not just this book...it's been one of my favorites for years, since I first read it probably 20 years ago. The series makes you appreciate family loyalty that runs deep and, as a northerner, makes me long to fall for a cowboy, lol! It was a fun trip down memory lane!

A delightful story with a second chance and I loved that this one was the father/grandfather finding another love after losing his wife. Absolutely enjoyed the banter between the grown children and their Dad as he tries to woo both the woman and her teenage daughter.

This was Harlan's story! Wow what a story it was. Jenny stole his truck! When he returned her to her mother Janet, Harlan fell for her!

Both have ulterior motives. Harlan sets Jenny to work for him! It was hard to break down her and Janet's barriers!

I loved this story so much!! So so good!

I hate the trope of “he is so attractive and sexy, I can’t help myself”. Harlan is so aggressive and possessive that it put me off. I won’t be reading any more of the Adams Dynasty series.

Such a wonderful and funny story with an emphasis on family and values, which almost two decades after first written are still relevant today!

Well done!

This is a very good story about finding love a second time. Harlan is finally getting past the death of his wife and Janet is trying to get a new start after her divorce. They meet when her daughter steals Harlan's truck. There are a few things they have to get straight though.

Sherryl Woods is an auto buy for me. I've loved each and every one ofher books. She weaves the romance around me and I'm sucked in. The characters are finely drawn and the plots are fun.

Harley and Janet

This was a great book about the patriarch of the family finding love a second time. He also gained a daughter.
