This very short novella features two young Amish girls Mary and Rachel who are best friends and have very different ideas of what they want for the future. Mary is making plans to leave the Amish life, and Rachel is content being Amish resulting in conflict between them. Add in a "not so stable" Amish boy who is obsessed with Mary, and the result is an engaging Amish story demonstrating the importance of true friendship and seeking God's will.

Super quick read to pass the time... I liked how the girls turned to God for answers when they were confused. A great reminder that we can do that as well.

Too short

Just about the time I settled down for a good read it was over. I wish more time was taken with character development also with plot development. It reminds me of coming home from school and smelling spaghetti cooking only to discover that the tantalizing aroma that grabbed me by the nose as I neared home was coming from the other side of the duplex. On our side there was a note , a half loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter. The note said "Called to work . Will pick up jelly on my way home."
In case you're wondering where the note comes in.....it's the snippet from the next installment you included. You promise more but in the end I fear it's just like the jelly not coming.

Mary and Rachel have been friends since they met the first day of school as little girls in the Amish community. Jacob had an obsessive crush on Mary since childhood too, although Mary only thinks of him as a friend. Jacob and Mary make plans to go explore the English way of life and Mary wants Rachel to come with them. Rachel doesn't want to leave her Amish way of life and Mary and Rachel quarrel in An Amish Country Quarrel Jacob makes a plan to force Rachel to come along. Mary has to decide if she should tell her parents or go along with Jacob to get her way. This is an interesting story that deals with the decisions that young Amish youth are faced with before making a commitment to their way of life and faith.

Two Amish friends are in their rumspringa years; lone is happy with the way her life is going the other is chaffing under the Amish rules. Will they leave the community for a time will they stay or will another solution be found? And what of the men in their lives? A nice short story.

They have the same problems as we do. From kidnapping to asking questions. Living God's way. What more can you want.

An Amish Country Quarrel

Great read and a very well handled argument that stopped anything from happening. This is my short review of a very short story. Norma Gorrill

Who Do You Truly Know?

This is the story of friendship, faith and commitment. Flights of fantasy are not for everyone. I wish there was more depth but a short story is just that.

The story was too short for my liking. I never got to get attached to the story or characters because of how brief it was.

To Short

The book really draws you in, but it was to short. Would have liked for it to be longer. It was more less a sample read, which I don't like.

This is a very Quick read, but good. There is one section where 2 character's names are twisted, but once you figure it out, the rest is fine.

The Quarrel

I didn't like this story much. I don't think it was thought out much or as good as it could have been. Many other Amish stories are much better.

I received a free kindle copy of An Amish Country Quarrel (Lancaster County Amish Shorts Book 1) by Rachel Stoltzfus, published by Global Grafx Press in an Amazon promotion in exchange for a fair review.

I gave this almost four stars. It's a simple story of friends & their facing decisions as they grow into adulthood.

Rachel & Mary had been friends since they were six years old. They live in the Hope Crossing vicinity of Lancaster. Suddenly Mary want to go live in Philadelphia away from all their family & beliefs. Rachel is more interested in remaining there & courting Thomas, Mary's brother.

Jacob Yoder worries Rachel & Thomas both but they don't know why other than he cares too much for Mary & he plans to go to Philadelphia with her.

This is a brief, but very enjoyable read. I do wish it had been a bit longer so I could become more familiar with the characters; all the same I enjoyed the story.

Mary, a young Amish woman wants to experience the English world with her friend Jacob, but Mary wants her best friend Rachael to also go with them. Rachael is reluctant, but Mary wants to leave anyway. However, when Jacob resorts to a plan (a crime) to make Rachael come with them, Mary begins to have second thoughts.
