Rhythm Is a Heartbeat

Shannon Guerin is an ordinary single mother—except for the fact that her ex-husband is the lead singer of a world famous rock band.

Shannon and Jace were childhood sweethearts. They divorced when his drug addiction destroyed their marriage, but that was years ago. Now he’s in recovery and has just come off a yearlong tour. His band are going on hiatus, which means Jace is going to be around a whole lot more for their daughter, Zara. What Shannon doesn’t know is that Jace never stopped loving her and has a secret plan to win her back.

While Shannon has tried to convince herself to move on, she’s never fully gotten over her ex. Jace is determined to prove that he deserves her trust again even though he knows it won’t come easy.

When someone begins impersonating Jace online and scamming his fans, he and Shannon grow closer in their quest to find the culprit. The bond they once shared sparks to life, but old hurts take time to heal. Jace is patient and prepared to make amends for the pain he caused in the past. He will go the distance for the one and only woman who ever captured his heart.

‘Rhythm is a Heartbeat’ was a great second-chance romance. I loved Jace and Shannon. It was also so fun to see all the characters from Six of Hearts. This was a sweet romance, and I was really rooting for this couple.

Shannon and Jace
I loved Shannon and Jace, such a fun couple to read ! Shannon’s smart, so level headed and strong. Jace is a hot tattooed fallen star. The slow burn rebuilding of trust was so well paced, it was believable and so were her reactions. The side characters all could have had their own book, all interesting with their own little story’s. This story would make such a great movie !
This is a story for people that love good likable characters. Likable characters that have been had some really hard times, and paid the consequences and hope to develop a new happiness. There are truely heartbreaking moments, some Cheering on the sidelines moments and some << fans self >> sexy moments.
I recommend this to contemporary romance readers or anyone that loves reading good characters

now THIS is how you write a second chance romance because if you love the “he writes songs for her trope” and angst so good you cry throughout the ENTIRE book, please read this. I’m a sucker for second chance romances (although I’m a big never get back with your ex person in real life), because the angst and tension is just unmatched. L.H. Cosway captured this PERFECTLY in this utter masterpiece of a story. I love how it was the perfect balance between the romance centred plot with Jace trying to get back together with Shannon, and also the mystery of who the catfish is, and how they are both tied in seamlessly together. And the chemistry was so beautiful, it’s in how they still have this unbreakable bond, this unconditional love, that exists beyond her fear of getting hurt again, his past addictions, and all the circumstances keeping them apart. Truly there is no couple more deserving of a HEA. I am obsessed with the way Jace was grovelling, but also how he was all about the walk over the talk. He knew Shannon didn’t just want pretty words, he worked hard and he showed up every single time, and damn if that didn’t make me fall for him more. And if that wasn’t enough, his LOVE SONGS, she is his muse and the lyrics of Her Heartbeat killed me; I was literally a sobbing mess on my couch. Luckily their little girl Zara, who I loved, was just a refreshing rush of comic relief. She just kept c*ckblocking her dad as she always came over at the most inconvenient of times. This book is a beautiful second chance romance, highlighting healing, trust, and a love that transcends all boundaries. I give this a 5/5

In the beginning Shannon is a lonely kid who moved to a new house and a new town. She finds a fun, boisterous, and loving family living next door who has a son her age named Jace.

She and Jace end up falling for one another and they married and had a daughter. However, his addictions put a huge strain on their marriage and they broke up. There is so much hurt and baggage between them, but the underlying connection never went away. I loved the dual POV so you understand how their past affected them both and how they still love one another. I liked the way they worked through their relationship and rebuilt their bond.

This is the start to a second generation series but you can jump in here without being lost.

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.

“I’ll win it back. Everyone loves a comeback story.”

This had me hooked from the very first page. I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you love a second chance romance with emotional depth, this one delivers. Add in a rockstar MMC, strong family elements, and a past filled with heartbreak… and I was all in.

Jace is a rockstar and a recovering addict who fell in love with his neighbor and best friend, Shannon, when they were teenagers. Their love was intense, but his addiction tore them apart.

Shannon had to choose herself and her daughter, even if it meant walking away.

Years later, life throws them back together. Jace has changed, grown but the chemistry between them? Still undeniable.

With forced proximity, a catfish twist, and an annoyingly perfect neighbor, this story is packed with tension, emotion, and all the feels.

I highly recommend this if you’re in the mood for a second chance romance with a swoony (but complicated) rockstar.

“So, I’m the star of your dreams, huh? You don’t have to resort to creative fantasies to get your fix of me, Shannon. I’m happy to make those a reality anytime you want.”

When I heard Cosway was writing a book about Jay and Matilda’s son, I knew this would be a 5 star read. I loved the Six of Hearts book and the rest of the series. This definitely did the series justice.

Without giving anything away, Jace and Shannon have been best friends since they were 12. They quickly became more than friends as the years went on before having their daughter and getting married. When an accident happens, Jace turns to drugs to numb the pain, causing him to lost Shannon. After being sober for two years, Jace is determined to prove to Shannon he has changed and can be the man of her dreams again.

I loved Jace. He is literally Jay’s son through and through with some of Matilda’s sweetness sprinkled in. He showed Shannon through his honest communication, taking Zara (their daughter) to and from school, teaching Zara how to play the guitar, and speaking to his sponsor daily to ensure he never slips again. He was the perfect guy.

I loved Shannon. The complete opposite of Jace, I loved how she had some remnants of her parents strict etiquette and behavior while also being able to let go. She wasn’t strict and I could see how these two were perfect for each other.

I really loved this novel. The mystery aspect of the catfish was interesting but I liked that it wasn’t the whole plot. I also loved seeing old characters again. Jack, you still have my heart.

I will say, this book could have been a bit better if we had some flashbacks to Jace’s drug days. We never hear how bad it was truly. Jace never cheated and would lock himself in his hotel to get Hugh so he wouldn’t do anything stupid. I wanted to see how this impacted Shannon and Zara. What were the true lows? How was his attitude? That would have helped me see why she left him while everyone else stayed by his side.

Where do I even start?

I loved seeing Jay, Matilda, Jack and Lillie. This book is Jay and Matilda oldest son(only son) who is a famous Rockstar Jace and his ex wife Shannon (they were best friends and first loves). Someone is pretending to be Jace online and is scamming people out of money. Shannon agrees to help him find out who it is while trying to be around him after not really being around each other for the past year or so. While l navigating him being more involved in their daughters Zara day to day life. There is lots of hurts and old feeling to go along with that. I actually really enjoyed this book and their second chance. As for whos the catfish... well that was a crazy ride for me. At first I swear I knew who it was , it was quite obvious to me 😏. Then all of a sudden, I didn't know who it was 😲. Then I thought it was somebody else 🤔 , and then I thought it was the original person again 🙃 , then at the end , when it truly came out who it was total shocker😲 . What a roller-coaster. I loved seeing Jay up to his old tricks and using his mind games to help his son. We also got to see Lillie and Jack's two sons and hear some stuff about them which make me want their books also.
This was a really great book and I will be reading all the other in the series as they come out.

Rhythm Is a Heartbeat is a second chance rockstar romance that leans into both the history and the heartbreak between these characters.

Jace and Shannon were childhood best friends, drawn together when her family moved in next door. While her home life was rigid and often distant, Jace’s family became her safe place. They built a life together young, getting married and having a child, but when Jace’s addiction took hold, everything they had unraveled and ultimately led to their divorce.

Now Jace is back, clean, home from an extended tour, and determined to prove he deserves another chance.

I loved the slow burn here. The tension between them feels so real. Shannon’s love is still there, but so is the hesitation. The trust isn’t easy to rebuild. Jace’s patience and quiet determination to show up for her was really beautiful.

The are multiple suspense elements woven in that adds another layer to the story. Even with a few suspicions, the reveal still caught me off guard.

The family dynamics were another highlight for me. I loved the continued support Shannon receives from Jace’s parents and how that connection never really faded.

This story has a bit of everything - second chances, found family, tension, and a love that refuses to let go.
A satisfying and emotional read that I definitely recommend.

I was a bit afraid to read this one because, honestly i don't know if i would cheer for someone to go back to her ex husband with a drug problem ... But i let myself get into it and i enjoyed it ! First it was nice seeing Jay and Mathilda years later and also i enjoyed shannon and Jace's story. It was nice with a bit of mistery and some sexyness. It was easy, a bit predictable at times but i had a good time overall.

I loved the second chance element! Shannon and Jace’s history made everything feel that much deeper, and it’s done so beautifully. I also really liked the touch of mystery woven through the story. This had a gentle, natural build and those quiet moments that felt real.

Had to call this one a day after nearly 2 months of trying. Won’t rate it as I didn’t hate it, didn’t hate characters or storyline or writing or anything. I just struggled with motivating myself to keep trying to be invested in it, or to not pick up other books. It’s probably a me problem.

This is the first book I will be reading from this author. I love reading books from new authors. I always take notes, then write a review. It’s a habit I seem to have.

1. I love that this book touches on addiction. I’m only on page 59 and I’m hoping you this book goes into more detail! It’s a reality that affects majority of people…no matter if you’re personally in, or was in, the grips of addiction or if your loved one is an addict. It’s a pain no one knows, until you’re in the middle of the chaos. Just remember to keep loving that person, even if it’s yourself..just don’t enable!! Asking for help and finding it is important!

2. If this band is so huge, then where are the paps? 🧐

3. I’m a tad over 100 pages in and I love the chemistry and flirting between Jace and Shannon!!

4. 🤔 I definitely have suspicions about one side character! Let’s see if I’m right!!

5. I love a second chance love story. Especially since Jace and Shannon have a child together.

6. Oop! I was definitely right about one character. The other one caught me off guard though! It’s always the one I least expect!

7. The ending is sweet and I love Jace’s parents!

4.5 / 5🌟

This is the first book I’ve read by L. H. Cosway and I enjoyed it! I’ll definitely check out the Heart Series for sure. I like the way Cosway writes. The storyline was good, buildup was interesting, and I like the characters in this book. The main characters complimented one another nicely. I also like the side characters as well.

I adore a second chance love story! It’s something I resonate with, so it’s an interesting storyline. Although we only got a tiny glimpse into the childhood era with Jace and Shannon, it was something I was wanting more of. It’s something sweet when best friends fall in love.

There were only a couple steamy scenes, but they felt a little more PG than super steamy. I figured with Jace being a rockstar that the scenes would be more intense and hot, but they were alright. Felt a little lacking, but I was more interested in the love story with these two.

I like that it included real life situations, such as Jace’s addiction. However, it felt like the back story about it wasn’t enough to know why they split up. Addiction can affect anyone! So the horror that follows it can vary. I would have liked a more in depth look into that time. But that’s just a personal thought. I did love how it showcased Jace’s recovery! However, recovery isn’t always rainbows and unicorns!

Another thing that was a tad strange, although it’s minor, is the lack of paparazzi. Sure, there were screaming teens at one point, but where were the paps? Usually they’re all up on the rockstars. Just a small minor detail I noticed.

Overall, it’s a good book. It kept my interest, it played out like a movie in my mind, and I liked the characters. I did have to look up a few words since the setting is in Dublin. Ireland is one of my top places to visit one day, so I did like the background setting! I enjoyed reading this one and will read the other 7 books in the Heart Series by

Shannon's got her routine down - her daughter, her work, and her daughter's grandparents. Her ex/daughter's father Jace, isn't really in her life much, not since she divorced him at the height of his addiction. But now he's back, no longer on tour, out of rehab, and wants to be around more for their daughter. Of course he wants to, and of course she has to let him. What she doesn't have to do, is let him back into her heart. Or perhaps not let on that he's always been in her heart, deep down where she doesn't have to acknowledge that she's always loved him, even when he destroyed their marriage.

Not once during his life, marriage, and divorce has Jace ever stopped loving Shannon. They are opposites for sure, but also soulmates, and now that he's back, he's going to remind her of that. He's hoping for forgiveness, redemption, and for her to remember the love that's always been there.

I fell in love with this beautiful couple first when Shannon and Zara were introduced, then even more when Jace came home and his longing for his first love and his love for his daughter shone through his every word. I wanted to cry with them when Jace was being tormented by the person who stole his identity and came after Shannon, but most of all I was cheering as they got their well deserved second chance, surrounded by his loving family. LH Cosway has written some of my favorite stories (Rugby series, and the original Hearts series), so when I found out a second gen was being written, I knew I had to read it. And boy am I glad I got the chance to read it, because it's as beautiful as the og series.

I closed my eyes and listened to his heart beating in time with mine because that was my favourite rhythm.

Rhythm is a Heartbeat is a spinoff of the fantastic Hearts series featuring Jace, son of Jay and Matilda from Six of Hearts . I was captivated by the love story from the very first page and it easily is a new favorite second chance romance.

Jace and Shannon met when they were pre-teens and formed a fast friendship, and as they grew older, they grew closer. They fell in love, got married, and had a child. Things were wonderful for a time; however, Jace spiralled after a heartbreaking tragedy and turned to drugs to cope, and ultimately the end of the relationship ended when Shannon could take no more.

Shannon is still very close with Jace’s family who support her completely and Jace has a great relationship with his daughter but Shannon doesn't really want to see Jace when he’s in town because the hurt of the past is still too fresh in her mind. Now that Jace’s tour is over, things are going to change. Jace is staying in town and he is ready to make things right. His addiction ruined everything he cared about but now he’s back, sober, and knows what he wants.

Jace wants to win Shannon back. He wants his family together again and is ready to do anything to prove that he can be the man she deserves. Shannon is more reserved. Her heart was broken and she doesn’t want to be let down again but Jace doesn't make staying away from him easy.

The pent up sexual tension that builds every time Jace and Shannon are together creates a delicious slow burn romance. Jace is determined to show Shannon who he is today and that he is never going back to the way he was when things fell apart. I love that Jace is all in and you know that even though Shannon fights the pull that has been there from the beginning, these two are going to light the pages on fire when they finally get together.

The progression of their relationship and the pacing of the story is believable and well done. There is no drama for the sake of drama and everything they face was realistic and understandable. The character growth, individually as well as when they are a couple, was wonderful, and there was beautiful healing involved for both Jace and Shannon.

There is also a mystery laced through the story and I thought it was well thought out. I was curious who was causing the trouble and liked the turns the story took.

I loved the secondary characters. Meeting Zara warmed my heart and seeing Jay and Matilda again, as well as Jack and Lille was just perfect. I really enjoyed this story and definitely crave more from this group of characters.

I've come to love second-chance romances, and it certainly doesn't hurt that one of my favorite authors penned this beautiful story set in Ireland about forever love and starting over.

Shannon and Jace have a history that goes way back. They started as neighbors, then became best friends, and eventually took the leap into marriage. Sadly, Jace's absences on tour and battles with addiction tore them apart, leaving Shannon to navigate life as a single mom to their adorable eight-year-old daughter, Zara. I found Shannon’s resilience inspiring. Raised in a lonely environment with absentee parents, she has become a strong and nurturing mother, and her move near her in-laws for stability speaks volumes about her character.

When Jace returns for a long hiatus from touring, my heart ached for both him and Shannon. I totally get why she is hesitant to trust him again, given the promises he broke in the past. Shannon's journey is one of vulnerability, and I felt every ounce of her anxiety about Jace's fame; she’s so private, and it must have been overwhelming to live in the spotlight.

Jace is Shannon's opposite. He's wild, outgoing, and talented as well as generous and giving. From the moment he re-enters her life, he is determined to win her back, and I couldn’t help but root for him. The growth he demonstrates by taking responsibility, such as driving Zara to and from school and spending quality time with his family, had me cheering him on. His honesty about wanting to reunite with Shannon truly shows how deeply he cares for both her and Zara.

The story starts with a feeling of longing, where I felt an instant bond with Shannon and Jace. Add in mystery and danger, and it's like an extra layer with a puzzle piece waiting to be found. It kept me on my toes and made the payoff all the more satisfying.

As supporting characters go, Jace's dad, Jay, who is an illusionist (cool, right?), is quite the character. He and his wife, Matilda, embody the understanding and supportive in-laws everyone wishes for. In addition, Jace’s bandmates start off siding with Jace after the divorce, but their eventual support for Shannon is rewarding. And, I love the idea of Wine and Letters nights with Shannon and her friends.

L.H. Cosway's writing is beautiful and descriptive without being over the top. She truly knows how to capture the essence of her characters. Their struggles, hopes, and affectionate interactions feel so real that it's impossible not to get emotionally invested.  It is what makes her stories so addictive for me.

If you’re on the hunt for a heartwarming tale filled with hope, mystery, and unforgettable characters, I cannot recommend this book enough.

Thank you to Ms. Cosway for giving me the opportunity to read the book with no expectation of a positive review.

Yep, another five stars for a L.H. Conway book. She’s an autobuy author for me and has been for a while. As a result this book just slipped in when it came out without me really taking note of it. As a result I was shocked it took me so long to get reading. I’m ever so glad I did though as not surprising, I loved it.

This is a second generation book; the hero Jace is the son of Jay and Matilda Fields from Six of Hearts. Jace grew up to be a member of a very successful rock band, He married Shannon, his neighbour and best friend when they were still young. Feelings changed and they fell deeply in love though they were complete opposites. Jace is popular and outgoing whereas Shannon is very reserved because of the way she was raised by her cold and absent parents. For a while Jace and Shannon were very happy, Jace with his band and Shannon with her successful web design business. They had a little girl they both adored but then Jace got hooked on drugs real bad and it destroyed his marriage and they divorced. This is told throughout the story

And now we are in the present. Jace is on a break from touring and recording and currently living back with his parents. He wants to spend time with his daughter whom he has missed. He’s been through therapy and is completely off any kind of drugs, even alcohol. He wants to get closer to Shannon. He never stopped loving her and wants a bigger role in her life but doesn’t dare think he has a chance.

Shannon has never stopped loving Jace. She knows how much Jace loves their daughter so is fine with him spending time with her. It is difficult seeing Jace as she’s still very much in love but his drug addiction destroyed them.

So this is a second chance romance. It’s so beautiful and heartbreakingly believable. Jace is such a great character and so easy to love. Shannon is a bit harder to warm up to but I perfectly understand why. I love the fact we get to see Jay and Matilda with large role in this book. There is a mystery throughout Thai I kept trying to figure out but it had me stumped for most of the book.

I had a hard time putting the book down but I really didn’t want to come to the end. It’s set in Ireland and I loved that aspect of it. I don’t think you need to have read Six of Hearts but it’s also a wonderful book so you might want to read it if you haven’t. I strongly try Rhythm is a Heartbeat. It’s book that gave me the warm and fuzzies. Love those in a book.

Rhythm is a Heartbeat by L.H. Cosway, provided via Grey’s Promo, is an emotional second-chance romance filled with heartbreak, healing, emotional angst, and lingering love that never truly disappeared.

The story follows Jace, a recovering rockstar trying to rebuild his life after addiction and the collapse of his marriage, and Shannon, the strong and level-headed woman who once loved him deeply but still carries emotional scars from their past.

One of the strongest aspects of the story is how emotionally believable the relationship feels between the characters. Shannon and Jace both feel flawed, mature, and emotionally layered in ways that make their reconnection feel realistic and emotionally impactful.

Jace especially stands out as the classic “fallen star” MMC with tattoos, emotional vulnerability, and lingering devotion that still centers around Shannon even years later.

The second-chance romance dynamic was one of my favorite parts of the book because the emotional history between them adds constant tension, longing, and unresolved feelings throughout the story.

And honestly, one of the most swoon-worthy moments for me was Jace writing a song about Shannon. That emotional connection through music made their relationship feel even more personal and heartfelt.

The story also balances emotional angst, healing, family dynamics, and romantic tension really well while allowing both characters space to slowly rebuild trust and emotional intimacy again.

Overall, Rhythm is a Heartbeat is a heartfelt and emotionally engaging romance filled with second chances, emotional vulnerability, healing after heartbreak, and relationship dynamics that make the story feel deeply romantic and emotionally rewarding.

Rhythm is a Heartbeat is a second chance romance featuring second gen from the Heart Series and the girl next door.

Our MMC is Jace, the son of Jay and Matilda from the Six of Hearts book and he is a rock star. Our FMC is Shannon, who he met at twelve years old when she moved in next door.

Jay the ever-present smooth man, sees Shannon alone on her front porch and introduced himself and inviting her for a pizza dinner. Jace and Shannon hit it off and became best friends, eventually falling in love as they got older. Their connection was strong and steady, and they thought nothing could break it, but through tragedy something did.

The story begins after Jace has gotten himself together and has one goal, get his family back. Each day they get a little closer, but Shannon is leery of getting hurt again.

Throughout the book they both want the best for each other and their daughter, Zara. They do their best to present a united front for Zara while slowly getting to know each other again. But as fate would have it, fame and tragedy and misplaced loyalty can bring danger to your door.

This book has an element of suspense but to me it was more character driven than anything. This author writes the inner turmoil for Shannon and Jace in such a way that we go through it with them. Getting to know them and the side characters, who I hope are getting their own stories, has set off my curiosity in the worst way.

I loved the Heart Series, and I cannot wait to see what is next! I highly recommend you get this book.

(It is not necessary to read the Heart Series, but I guarantee you will love Jay and Matilda’s story!)

I love when characters get a second chance at romance, even more so when they’re each others first and then last. Whilst Jace (son of Jay and Matilda from Six of Hearts), and Shannon had a strong relationship, unfortunate circumstances led to Jace, turning to drugs, and Shannon did her best to stand by and support him, but with a young daughter and no sign of recovery on Jay’s part, they divorced. Two years later and Jay has his life back together and he’s coming for his ex wife and daughter Zara (such a cutie). I love how he took completed responsibility for the demise of their relationship, never faulting how she raised their daughter, and appreciating everything she did, and on his return he gave her time and space to accept him back into their lives. No matter how much Shannon wanted to distance herself from her ex-husband, she recognised that he was doing his best to be a part of their daughter’s life. Only when threatened by outside forces did she begin to accept that they could possibly be a proper family again. I loved that we got to see Jay performing some of his moves (I’d forgotten how much I loved him), he really was out to discover who was harassing his son and daughter in law. A wonderful second chance romance with a little added suspense, fyi, I didn’t guess who behind the catfishing, not even a little. There’s also a couple of little twists and turns in and amongst to throw you off track. Emotional at times, cute and funny in places, but still a romance at it’s heart. I loved it, and I hope we get to see more of the band in future books. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.

Rhythm is a Heartbeat by L.H. Cosway is a second chance, rock star romance about addiction, forgiveness, and the slow rebuilding of trust. Shannon Guerin and Jace (Jay & Matilda’s son from Six of Hearts) grew up together, were childhood sweethearts and married young. Their love was real, but Jace’s drug addiction tore them apart and destroyed their marriage.

Even though it broke her heart, Shannon left to protect herself and their daughter, Zara, and has built a quiet life as a single mom. Now the years have passed, Jace’s band has become world famous and he has got clean. After a year long tour, Jace comes home and with the band taking a break he’ll be around more for his daughter, and he plans on winning Shannon back.

Neither had ever truly moved on and Jace had never stopped loving Shannon and wants to prove he’s changed. Shannon tries to keep emotional distance, but Zara becomes the bridge between them and Jace is patient, gentle, and consistent, the opposite of the unreliable man he used to be. When a dangerous online impersonation scheme, scamming Jace’s fans and threatens to damage his reputation, Shannon and Jace team up to investigate. As they work together, the close proximity reignites their emotional and physical chemistry and the bond they once had sparks back to life.

Shannon and Jace’s journey is a rocky road back to a love that survived addiction, heartbreak, and time. For Jace it means taking responsibility for the pain he caused and proving that he’s not the man who broke her heart. For Shannon its slowly letting her walls down, learning to trust Jace again. It’s a beautiful journey in so many ways that I enjoyed it.

Rhythm is a Heartbeat is a continuing (second-generation) story from L.H. Cosway’s
fabulous “Six of Hearts” novel. I loved that book so much and was beyond excited
when L.H. revealed that her newest story would feature Jay and Matilda’s son, Jace.
This novel is a slight departure from L.H.’s other storylines in that it truly is a second
chance yet also a slow burn story. Jace is a world-famous rock star and his childhood
sweetheart turned wife/ex-wife Shannon reconnect during downtime from his band.
L.H. had me invested in Jace’s recovery and his love for Shannon and their daughter
right away. Shannon is wonderfully rounded character who is devoted to her daughter
and has put her own personal needs on hold as an adult. They are a perfect
combination of contradictions, and their scenes spark off the page. L.H.’s alternating
point of views is one of my favorite aspects of her writing. As a reader, you really get to
know each character’s personality and inner thoughts as they navigate their struggles.
It was such a treat to be able to check in and see Jay and Matilda as an older couple
still loving each other and living a happy life too. L.H. has done it again with a fantastic
story and I really hope that she can be persuaded to continue writing more second-
generation novels. My vote first is for Freda and Nicholas!! Then, Alexis and Oliver, Stu
and Andrea, Dylan and Evelyn.

Rhythm Is a Heartbeat by L.H. Cosway

When does magic strike twice? Apparently when L.H. Cosway decides to return to the Heart Series and gift us Rhythm Is a Heartbeat. This book feels like a soft continuation of Jay and Matilda’s story—told through the life of their son, Jace. And what a life he’s living. Jace is a rockstar carrying the weight of a mistake that shattered his marriage to the love of his life.

When I heard Cosway was writing a second‑generation Heart book, I was beyond excited. Meeting Jace and Shannon in Rhythm Is a Heartbeat brought back all the nostalgia. Six of Hearts and Jay and Matilda hold a very special place in my heart, so stepping back into their world felt like coming home.

Jace is a rockstar with a burden that cost him his wife and child, and now he’s fighting to win them back—to prove he’s still the man Shannon fell in love with. I’ll admit, I struggled at first to connect with Shannon or understand what Jace saw in her. But as the story unfolded, I saw it. Shannon carries her own wounds, but with Jace, those walls start to fall away.

And Jay… seeing Jay be Jay again—mysterious, thoughtful, impossible to fully read—was such a treat. Shannon has his number, though, and that’s when I really started warming up to her.

I truly hope we get more from the Heart second‑generation series. I’m absolutely here for it.

L.B. Cosway’s Rhythm is a Heartbeat is a rockstar romance between lead singer Jace Fields of the rock band Astro and his ex-wife, Shannon, who is raising their daughter, Zara, since their divorce. Their marriage fell apart when Jace refused to address his substance abuse, lying about it and refusing to give it up. By the time Jace wanted to be clean and clear-headed again, the marriage had ended, but he was still allowed to spend time with his daughter, with his parents taking her to see him on tour or being around for his visits. As a result, Shannon felt hurt and lost all her trust in Jace, and she has never been able to move on or really date again since. With the tour over and the bandmates headed home to rest, rock out, and write music, Jace decided he wanted a 2nd chance with Shannon and set out to prove he was the man she had first fallen in love with. Add in the discovery that someone is impersonating him online, which adds suspense and mystery, as that person not only stole his identity but was also a money scammer. The resulting love story with an HEA is truly a wonderful romance with red-hot, spicy heat that combusts between Shannon and Jace. L.B. Cosway’s Rhythm is a Heartbeat is a rockstar romance. It is my first time reading any of her books, and I am glad I discovered her as an author.

Having started reading L.H. Cosway with her Quiet Love series, RHYTHM IS A HEARTBEAT is the first time meeting the Fields family, but you can bet that I'll be diving into that backlist ASAP. I am an absolute sucker for a second-chance romance, and L.H. has given us one heck of one with this book.

Jace Fields has a great redemption arc, not only with his family and fans, but most especially with his estranged wife and greatest love, Shannon Guerin. I'm not sure how Shannon kept her distance for as long as she did, because Jace is a man on a mission, and convincing her that he's all in and not making his past mistakes again is his top priority.

This is an author that does world building really well, and RHYTHM IS A HEARTBEAT is no exception. The pacing, the characters, the suspense woven in with the romance, all make for a terrific read, and all of the pieces come together in the end to create a story that I did not want to end. Longtime fans and new readers alike will enjoy this book, and I can't wait to see what comes next in this world.

Six of Hearts, my first book from L.H. Cosway, had me hooked. I devoured it and was left eager for more of the author’s work. While I did not continue the series, I have read a couple of other books from the author. These had me much more conflicted, yet I went into Rhythm is a Heartbeat with crossed fingers as the story is set within the Hearts world.

I will be honest and say that I struggled with Rhythm is a Heartbeat more than anticipated. While I could appreciate the story, I found myself unable to be sucked in by the way it was written. For me, there were too many information dumps rather than allowing me to experience the emotions between the characters. I felt like I was being told about the tension between them rather than experiencing it, which impacted upon my ability to remain invested in what was happening between them. I felt similar about the other elements of the storyline, with things having me interested yet feeling like they were never explored enough to suck me in.

After my last couple of L.H. Cosway reads, I think it is the case that I am not quite the right reader for their writing style. While I can see others enjoying this story, I needed more to be invested to the level I wished to be.

Shannon and Jace 🥹🧎‍♀️ I am literally starstruck by their romance 🔥 The yearning and angst had me on my knees because they are so in love 😩 Thank you so much, LH Cosway for this ARC 😩❤️ I am obsessed with this couple!

Shannon Guerin 🔥Independentt, classy yet shy and sunshine with her man and daughter? Shannon is a Queen! She had me smirking throughout all her chapters with how much she tried to stay away from Jace, yet couldn't 😈 She is obsessed with the only man she's ever loved, but he's also the one who hurt her the most. She has a lot to work through, and does so at her pace with her man patiently at her side 🥹 Her bond with Zara is beautiful to see 🥹

Jace Fields 🔥 Rockstar intense, yet a golden retriever for his woman and daughter? Give me Jace!! This man had me in the first chapter, and I am head over heels for him! He is such a gentleman, obsessed, kind, loving, protective and patient 🥹 He knows he's hurt his woman a hella lot, and is prepared to put in the effort to win her back 😈 I adored how involved and loving he is with Zara!

The spice, yesssss!!! They were such a slow burn, but when the spice started, I couldn't stop kicking my feet! The writing is incredible and so frickin good! I need to read Jay's book because Daddy is hawt 🧎‍♀️

Rhythm is a Heartbeat by L.H. Cosway is such a beautiful and emotional story.
At the beginning, we see how they first met, and when Jace’s parents appear, it gave me such a strong sense of nostalgia.
In this story, you’ll find tension, tenderness, pain, and hope all at once. The dynamic between the protagonists is what I enjoyed the most. Despite everything they’re going through, they come across as very mature, always trying to do what’s best for their loved ones. There are moments of emotional intensity and others that are softer, the kind that make you smile without even realizing it.
What makes it especially interesting is how the author handles the mystery of figuring out who the scammer is. You pick up small clues along the way, and little by little, everything starts to come together. That gradual buildup makes the impact much stronger when you finally understand what’s really going on.
On top of that, this element of mystery directly affects the protagonists’ relationship. They’re not only dealing with their own emotional struggles, but also with external factors that test their trust and connection. This makes the romance feel more intense and higher-stakes.

4.5 stars

My first time reading this author but not my last. Her writing is spectacular, her characters are relatable, and the story is addictive. The suspense is top notch, and the twists are many.

This book features Jace, who is the son from her earlier couple Jay & Matilda. I will be reading the prior series here soon. Shannon is his childhood neighbor and best friend. Jace and Shannon eventually become more than friends, marry, and have a daughter. Jace is involved in a fatal accident of a friend, an addition soon follows, and he and Shannon divorce. He is back, clean and is determined to do the work to win Shannon back.

I loved Jace and Shannon together, his confidence and Shannon guarding her heart. The way Jace is with their Daughter Zara. Sprinkled in is our mysterious “catfish” and we get some of their past relationship via flashback. Will the second chance for these two happen? There is a lot of history and heartbreak.

I recommended reading, and I plan to read more for this author.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
