Film and television actor and personality Dallas Page has been entertaining millions of fans for over 20 years. The athletic, 52 year-old Page knew at an early age that he was born to entertain. His grandmother called him “energetic”—truly an understatement. Whether it was barreling through his grandma’s kitchen on his tricycle, swinging from chandeliers at the babysitter’s house, or cannonballs at neighborhood pool parties, Page knew how to grab an audience and have them eat out of the palm of his hand.

With his size, strength and natural ability, Page excelled in multiple sports high school and college. After college, Dallas Page followed his calling to entertain, entering the nightclub business and quickly established himself as one of the south’s leading club owners and promoters. But he still had the pro wrestling “itch.” On a whim, Page sent a tape to the AWA (American Wrestling Alliance), one of the country’s premiere professional wrestling organizations. The AWA promoters immediately offered Page a contract to “manage”—escorting and doing all of the ‘over-the-top’ talking—their top stars. With his long, curly hair, conceited manner and ever present “Diamond Dolls,” “Diamond” Dallas Page was a natural at working crowd intofrenzy and became the man fans loved to hate.

Word of Page’s talent began to spread throughout the wrestling establishment. Unlike most wrestling managers that could only talk a good game, Page had the size and athleticism to go with it. Established superstars such as Dusty Rhodes and Magnum, T.A. convinced Page to expand his role and learn to be a complete wrestler. At age 35, Page entered the fabled WCW “Power Plant” and soon after became the oldest rookie in pro wrestling history

Page’s incredible work ethic, training regimen and preventative maintenance along with unmatched personal focus and determination, enabled him to battle the hands of time and stay healthy enough to wrestle men half his age for years to come. His uncanny ability to create and re-create his character propelled him to national notoriety and made him one of the hottest merchandising commodities in professional wrestling, first for WCW, then, the WWF which now have merged to become the WWE.

During Page’s fourteen year pro wrestling career, he captivated audiences and became a three-time world champion. His matches with wrestling legends such as Hulk Hogan, Randy “Macho Man” Savage, and Bill Goldberg became legendary. And as networks, actors and professional athletes became more interested in the fan base and ratings that professional wrestling was attracting, Diamond Dallas Page became the unlikely tag team partner of late-night talk show host Jay Leno, basketball great Karl Malone and movie star David Arquette. Pay-per-view and charity match appearances versus Hogan and perennial “bad boy” Dennis Rodman are memorable to both fans and non-fans alike.

Throughout Page’s wrestling career, Hollywood has recognized his ability to be more than just a pro wrestling icon. Never one to settle for just being “good enough,” Page sought out renowned acting coach and theatre director Howard Fine in order to hone his acting skills. “Diamond Dallas Page is one of the most fearless and intense actors that I have ever taught,” said Fine, whose list of acting students includes Brad Pitt, Michael Chiklis and Salma Hayek. “He throws himself into every performance and never fails to compel attention. He can play a wide range of characters and is actually quite adept at comedy but give him a psychotic killer to play and you can expect fireworks.” Page easily bridged the gap between sports entertainment wrestling and mainstream entertainment, starring in feature films including director Rob Zombie’s, The Devil’s Rejects. “DDP is a true professional. He is as dedicated in the acting ring as he is in the wrestling ring,” said Zombie. Page’s other film roles include Driftwood, Ready to Rumble, First Daughter, Rat Race, Splinter and Snoop Do

This book (and the DVDs bought separately) got me to try yoga. And in this incarnation, I like it. I'm a very overweight diabetic who desperately needs to get fit, and I was impressed by the story of disabled Gulf War veteran Arthur, who used YRG to not only lose 157 lbs but regain the use of his body after being told he'd never walk without crutches again.

Well, Arthur is one of the guys demonstrating the moves in the book and on the DVD. If he can do it, so can I. Sure the book is firmly aimed at the WWE crowd, complete with looking down the cleavage of the yoga babes pictured. But you know what, it works! I've just done a session with my wife, and we both feel like we've done a full workout at the gym, with tight muscles and rock hard biceps and thighs. But tyhere's none of the pain, just the gain. Page recommends good, sensible nutrition that fits well with my needs as a diabetic, and I think I've found just what I need to get healthy. That outweighs the groans provoked by Page's redneck humor.

I have heard it all from people yoga is for girls, it won't make me sweat, I don't want to sit around chanting. I think it is great for DDP to be leading the charge to get more people into yoga. The book is grest, DDP is his usual self, talking "guy-eese", to get through to the meat heads in the gym that rather then judt swelling their muscles with lacyic acids, they csn actually lengthen, and strengthen their muscles at the same time.

Yes like all yoga it starts with the breathing. In the words of RZ "i have been breathing all my life". However many of us shallow our breathing to increase the quantity of our breaths rather then getting quality oxygen into our bodies. YRG will give anyone the basics they need to start yoga, as DDP says it id a life stule change not just a training program. An excellent book for beginers and even intermediate students of yoga. With well constructed workouts. Yes their will be a couple of Diamond cutters in it too. Great book. Hope there will be a follow up book.

Some books have an immediate impact on your life. It changes your way of thinking, your goals, and your focus. This is one of those books. I started implementing stuff from the book before finishing it. I also started back at the beginning and reread it straight through a second time. Fortunately I happened upon the book by chance. My first introduction to Yoga with Diamond Dallas Page was a Facebook share of the video 'Never, Ever Give Up. Arthur's Inspirational Transformation!' It really blew me away. So I immediately started looking into DDP Yoga. I found out that it started with a book. And being a bibliophile I had to check out the book. Here is the history of the progression of YRG to DDP Yoga.

Timeline:
2005 - Yoga For Regular Guys - Published in Paper Back
2006 - YRG Yoga for Regular Guys 3 DVD Set
2008 - Yoga For Regular Guys - Republished in Paperback
2009 - Rebranded as YRG Fitness System
2010 - YRG Fitness System Advance Set
2011 - Rebranded as DDP Yoga
2012 - DDP Yoga Extreme
2013 - Yoga For Regular Guys - Published in eBook format

Fortunately the book had just been republished as an eBook. So I got a copy and started read and rereading. I have been back and forth through the book a number of times in a short time. The book has a hilarious forward by Rob Zombie. The sections in the book are:

Table of Contents:

CHAPTER 1 Getting Ready for YRG
CHAPTER 2 Putting It All Together
20-Minute Workout
30-Minute Workout
45-Minute Workout
YRG Workouts at a Glance
CHAPTER 3 Hammers and Duct Tape:
Quick Fixes for Instant Stress Relief
CHAPTER 4 DDP's Health Tips and Preventative Maintenance
CHAPTER 5 Inspiration, Motivation, and Congratulations

The book is an incredible resource for people wanting to make lifestyle changes. If you're a couch potato you can start, if you're active you can take it to the next level, if you're an athlete it will only help improve your game and performance! At the time of writing this I have been doing Yoga with DDP intermittently for 2 months and then every day for 20 days, I am down 17lbs and feel better than I have in a long time. In that time my shoulder that has bothered me off and on for years because of a torn rotator cuff is better than it has ever been. My mood and energy is way up. And I have talked a number of people into giving it a try. So far they have all loved it.

DDP states that he wrote the book to help regular guys and regular gals. Part of the way he does that is he encourages you to set goals using SMACK!

S: SPECIFY
M: MONITOR
A: ACHIEVE
C: CHOOSE
K: KEEP IT GOING

He also encourages you to join Team DDP Yoga, there you will find a community of supportive, likeminded people. You can read success stories, join groups and forums, and there is a continuous online life chat on the go. The book features 15 people showing the moves, many of the moves are in the book more than once in different routines and programs, often with different people showing them. These 15 people range from retired military, to musicians. All kinds of people have seen improvement in their health and life through following DDP's programs. Musicians, retired wrestlers, pro wrestlers, pro ball players, and regular guys and gals like me and you!

If you read this book and apply only some of it you will have achieved positive changes in your life. If you apply most of it, who knows the amazing changes you can achieve, and through that the impact and influence you can have on friends and family through your transformation! Also if you read this book your likely to want to progress and move forward with the DVD's you can get at DDP Yoga.

This is not your regular yoga book! But it's not a joke either. It's a serious workout. “Yoga For Regular Guys: The Best Damn Workout on the Planet” by three time World Champion Wrestler Diamond Dallas Page is a fun book that provides the basics to get a great yoga workout. Page wrote the book with Dr. Craig Aaron and even got Rob Zombie to write the Foreword. I found a copy at a used book store and am very glad I did.

First off, the book is aimed at guys. This should be obvious by the title. With that said, there are a few tid bits of locker room humor, but nothing that bad, and as the covers states, there are yoga babes included. Page begins by making his personal case in regards to doing yoga. Why he started, what it's done for him, and why he thinks it is the best workout you can do. His case is compelling. I agree that yoga is great for you and I hope Page is able to get a lot of regular guys to check this form of exercise and stretching out. He then goes into the first lesson on breathing. This is so important and I'm glad it was included. (If it hadn't, I'd question the book.)

The bulk of the book is devoted to three routines. The 20 minute workout section, the 30 minute workout section, and the 45 minute workout section. Each of these provides pictures and short descriptions to follow along with and learn the routines. The pictures and descriptions are good, but those that have taken classes or watched DVDs will have an advantage. It is a lot easier to learn movements that way rather than from a book. But for a book, this one is done well. It also has a few pages of the workouts at a glance. These have the pictures without the descriptions to help you remember the sequence of moves.

The book concludes with a section called “Hammers and Duct Tape” which provides some quick fixes for instant stress relief, and a chapter that has some quick information on ice vs. heat, organic foods and juicing, massage, and drinking water. Finally, there is a little inspiration and motivation.

Throughout the book there are side boxes by Dr. Aaron (Yoga-Doc says...) and boxes by Page's wife, Kimberly, called “Hot Tip!” These provide additional information and add to the book. The models demonstrating everything in the pictures include Page and his wife, as well as some “yoga babes” as he calls them and some regular guys.

Yoga really is good exercise and you can now take it from Diamond Dallas Page, it's for regular guys, too. If you have ever been interested in trying yoga, or adding it to your workout regimen, this book might be just what you need to get off the couch and onto the yoga mat. I enjoyed reading it and am including Page's yoga workouts into my weekly exercise and stretching. Read it and see what yoga can do for you.

Very assessable for a guy who cringes at the thought of "pretzel poses." (Although I like Rold Gold pretzels - one of the reasons I need this book!). Lots of pictures and descriptions and some videos online (and a DVD available, of course). He never says Yoga is "easy," but was eloquent about the benefits and how guys should approach it and do it.

Definitely worth the read and worth a try!

I do the DDP Yoga program and I was happy to read the book that long predates the DVDs I use. I was hopeful to learn more in depth about the nutrition and other aspects, but that was minimal. If you haven't done the workout, I highly recommend this book as a beginner's guide. If you are already well ingrained in the program, this might add a little, but not nearly what I hoped it would.

Though written with humor, this book was essentially written in an attempt to appeal to the "redneck". It makes use of "cheese cake" photography in an attempt to coax "real guys" into doing yoga. I found nothing useful or worthwhile in this book.

This book was a game changer for me!

This book was a game changer for me! If I stay focused, I feel amazing after doing the YRG program. I recommend this book to anyone who finds it hard to hear into fitness. For now, I'll say it feels great. Down the road I may add results.

It's written by a wrestler and the forward is by Rob Zombie. Also, one of the models is wearing combat fatigues as he shows proper yoga form. This is going to be awesome.
