AITA for barking at someone because I liked their voice…
Covering Comms is a t4t mm romance and book two in the Nanio Online series. Inside this paranormal world you’ll find two streamers meeting inside the same game. There’s laugh out loud moments, found family, nesting, clothes stealing, heated video calls, a trans swan maiden, a ftm alpha shifter, a single dad, a meddling Chat, and of course, a Toby Approved Happily Ever After!
Toby Wise is a stay at home parent who hails from a tiny town in Wisconsin. Contrary to popular Wisconsin stereotypes, he’s not a cheese-head who enjoys beer but rather an introvert who spends all his time on the internet, drinking coffee, spending time with his kid, and cooing about his adorable cat, Pikachu.
In April of 2019, A Collection of Strays was born after the world of fanfiction drew him back into his love of writing. Now he’s writing all things omegaverse as long as it includes silly moments and found family.
This was such a fun, feel-good read with a lot of heart behind it. The way Rodney and Gayle meet is honestly hilarious, and it sets the tone perfectly. What starts off as a slightly chaotic, embarrassing moment quickly turns into something genuinely sweet. Their connection builds in a way that feels natural, moving from online banter to something more meaningful without losing that playful energy. I really loved both characters. Rodney is impulsive and a bit of a disaster in the best way, while Gayle is more grounded but carrying his own insecurities. Watching them navigate those differences and realise they actually fit together, was really satisfying. The family dynamics were a huge highlight too. Gayle’s son adds so much charm (and a bit of matchmaking energy), and the wider found family/pack vibe makes everything feel warm and supportive. It’s one of those stories where the side characters enhance the romance instead of distracting from it. Also really appreciated the representation and how it shows different trans experiences without making it feel like a lesson, just part of who these characters are. Overall, a sweet, slightly chaotic romance with lots of humour, heart, and a really satisfying HEA. I received a free arc copy and this is my honest review
Covering Comms is the second book in the Nanio Online series. In my opinion this series is best read in order. This is the story of Rodney and Gayle. I loved the characters and set up for the series. Both main characters are trans but they show how unique and different each trans person is. Toby Wise did such a wonderful job of showing that every trans person is not the same. I loved Gayle's sixteen year old son Calloway because he is such a spunky kid. All the side characters that make up this found family are amazing. This was just a entertaining, fun story. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series as 5 star reads. received a free review copy
I'm obsessed with this series! I just love how Toby is going all in with the video game/streamer aspect, it's so much fun to read and it's written in a way that's really immersive as well. Plus, the characters themselves are absolutely fantastic!!! I really enjoyed reading about the embarrassing dialogue, the playful flirting, and then the tender connection that started forming gradually.
If you're looking for a sweet romance book with fated mates, video game shenanigans, playful banter, and full of all sorts of fluffy goodness, you should give this a read!
I love reading this author’s books as they are sweet with no angst. Rodney is a streamer who has his own channel. One day he is on and hears Snow’s voice. Thinking he muted himself, he says some interesting things. One day the roommates are at the mall, when they met Snow. This is the start of their story of how they got closer together and well in love. I love this world and cannot wait for Kei’s book.
Sweet Rodney! He has such a habit of sticking his foot in his mouth. He really needs to learn to use his mute button! But it does lead him to his forever mate, so some good obviously comes from his awkwardness. I enjoyed Gayle and Rodney’s story so much, especially with the T4T rep. These two easily slot into each other’s lives like they were always meant to be there. This trio of friends is swiftly becoming an extended pack. I can’t wait to read Kei’s story.
Rodney from book one gets his own cute romance when Gayle catches his attention in a rather embarrassing way. They are both gamers and along with the previous group get into several gaming sessions and shenanigans. This is a very cute and awkward romance story that is full of game lingo, live stream flirting, trans. rep, and paranormal found family meddlers. Highly entertaining and full of humor!
This is a sweet and spicy low angst story. It has lovable characters, both main and side, who are so much fun and so supportive of each other. Gayle and Rodney are obviously made for each other. It's a slightly new angle on shifters and the omegaverse. Entertaining and light, just what I would expect from Toby Wise. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
All of the trans joy and rep one can hope for in a sweet romance! Rodney accidentally doesn't' mute his mic in a livestream, leaving Snow (Gayle) hearing every last word, what starts with embarrassment quickly blossoms to intrigue. A chance in person meeting leaves both men questioning could this be real and not just online banter. Their story is so dang swoon worthy! With a sassy sixteen-year-old son Calloway to encourage his dads reentering the dating world, besties who shamelessly taunt to encourage leaving you smiling. Am absolutely adoring the family dynamics of this found pack and how they let more in and show how well they all work together. Love how yes both leads are trans they have completely different stories and needs, showing the diversity of trans culture, thank you Toby for showing us more than a one size fits all trans representation. With our favorite resident alpha Kei up next we are sure in for another treat. I seriously cannot get enough of this series.
I absolutely loved this addition to the series. A lack of filter leads to unexpected attention from a fellow gamer. This has great trans rep, inclusion along with the information that it's not one size fits all. Lots of humorous situations and a very sweet, low angst romance.
Rodney and Gayle’s book is the perfect comfort read. It starts out perfectly with Rodney’s inability to remember to mute his mike and gets cuter from there. No angst, meddling friends, nesting, spice, a super sweet story, trans joy, and wonderful happily ever after! You should go read this book!
Fluffy characters, amazing, original, I love everything of it. The found family, the fluff, the sass, everything. I really think this is my favorite serie from this author to this day.
I am really enjoying this new series. These characters are all so fascinating and original. This was a really cute and fun story with lots of found family and great friends. I can’t wait to learn more about all of these characters.
A streamer with his own channel, Rodney says some interesting things one day and Snow becomes intrigued. When they do meet, it’s an attraction that cannot be defined and when you have a teenager who is added into the mix, things become more complex.
A story with trans representation, found family feels and supportive friends. Best read in order of series, this is one entertaining read.
