This novel is good for someone in the mood for a fast paced mystery, action, adventure, slow burn romance, spicy scenes, and tense thriller.
Versions of the ARC read: the original released, and the updated final version on 3/21/2026. This review is for the final version of the novel.
The overall pace of the story is fast. The story is driven both by the overall plot of the thriller and the characters growth along the way.
The story allows the reader to go along for the journey and experience the emotional growth of the three dimensional characters. The four main characters got to find their family and love. The bad guy got what he deserved.
The hero's were all morally gray and did what they had to do because it was the right thing. That made it rewarding because they chose to do the hardest thing any of them had done.
There were things that did take away from the story overall. The story jumped around, and there were some consistency issues with things. A few times belief had to be suspended. Making an escape out of a building via the chute for paper to be burned sounds dramatic, but would result in serious injuries, yet the main female character limped away.
I recommend this novel to anyone wanting to escape for a few hours.
I received an ARC of this book and am glad I didn't pay for it.
The Bodyguards by Leah Knox is the first title I've read by this author and although the blurb sounded good unfortunately it didn't really hit the mark for me. The plot and storyline was promising and was full of intrigue, suspense and action but overall it seemed to drag on a little too much. At times the narrative seemed to jump and transitions between characters and scenes was stilted. The main characters were interesting and showed some depth via their individual POVs. The one on one steamy dynamics in general proved to be intense and spicy although in some cases the high heat scenes were unnecessary and didn't add anything to the story. Shane, Dom and Connor's protectiveness and connection to Lexi developed through the story and the aspect of found family was demonstrated from a romantic point of view from Lexi. A feeling of loyalty was more evident from the men rather than an emotional one but it was strong and had 'to the death' vibes. Lexi's personal journey of self realisation from introverted analyst and data nerd to someone being able to live without numbers and patterns was a satisfying outcome as part of their HEA.

When Lexi, a Forensic Auditor, witnesses a crime, she needs help, and Cerberus Group is the one that comes to her aid. But when you have the level of clearance Lexi has, those chasing you down are professionals; they will use any means necessary for them to make the problem disappear.
Lexi's ordered, structured life becomes chaotic. Shane, Dom, and Connor become her anchors; they will keep her tethered and focused, and the focus will be on them.
The book is action-packed from the very start. Steamy when the men keep her from spiralling. Lexi finds out through the ordeal what truly matters to her. Her life up until now has been for validation and acceptance, but now her heart, instead of her head, takes priority.

This story was great with Lexi and the guys. This was filled with action and danger. It was very intriguing. I was definitely invested and was turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. And that spice was spicing. Really enjoyed this, but there was a bit of jumping around that made some parts a little difficult.
The Bodyguards is Book 2 in the Sinful Protectors series. This fast paced thriller standalone has lots of action, danger, intrigue and of course, HEAT. Great read.

I was hooked after the first chapter! I loved the constant pull that kept you caught up in everything that was happening to Lexi. I couldn't put the book down, reading late into the night. Thank you for a great read.
Enoyed this book from practically the first page. A why choose that had me having a hard time wondering if I could chose between the 3 men. (I agree with Lexie why bother trying)
