Beyond Repair - Part 2, written by Matthew Salinas, explores a dystopian world where capitalism rules and the human body is used as collateral for financial debt!
The story focuses on two interwoven lives - Lucas, a disillusioned collection agent, and Bill, a victim of the system. Both are completely dehumanized by the exploitation of the system. The story follows the rise of RipCo Industries and the implementation of Project Liberty. In modern debt collection, human anatomy is used as currency. Lucas must suppress his humanity to fulfill his job duties, leaving him a hollow shell of a person. For Bill, his trauma serves as fuel for vengeance.
The story is pretty chilling. The breakdown of morality, family, and humanity is terrifying. Everyone is replaceable and can easily be erased. There is a complete and total erosion of empathy - a person’s value is tied to their debt. There is no happy ending, no redemption. It is almost a cautionary tale.
Thanks to Matthew Salinas for gifting me an eARC of Beyond Repair, Part 2. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Under 100 pages and somehow manages to make the world feel even more claustrophobic and cruel than the first. This installment digs deeper into a dystopia where capitalism owns your body, and debt collectors don’t just take your wages they take pieces of you.
Lucas is unraveling fast. After everything the agency has put him through, his mental health is hanging by threads, and every chapter feels like watching someone try to hold themselves together with shaking hands. The pain, the torture, the psychological erosion it’s all here, and it hits harder this time.
The intensity spikes often. Short book, but not a quiet one.
Bill, meanwhile, is barely a person anymore. What’s left of him is a hollowed‑out shape fueled by one thing.

Beyond Repair Part 2 brings us months after the conclusion to the first story. Lucas and Bill are back, both in their own forms of distress, Bill is labeled Beyond Repair by society and although his debt was collected in the first book, the hospital visits and medications to help with his pain bring him right back into the crippling debt he was in before. Lucas on the other hand is rapidly declining in his mental health after all the pain and torture he’s dealt while working for the agency. Soon enough their paths will cross, and the result will be nothing but pain, bloodshed, and dismemberment. I think Beyond Repair Part 2 definitely answers the questions I had after reading part 1

This was a fantastic second installment! Bloody, gory, and fueled by pure wrath, this story takes the theme of vengeance and turns it up to eleven. And judging by how things ended, there is still plenty more vengeance to come!
RipCo remains an inhumane, grotesque excuse for a corporation, leaving its victims helpless and completely at their mercy. You can’t help but feel for the characters as they struggle against such a ruthless and powerful enemy, and you find yourself desperately hoping that they’ll finally get the revenge they deserve.
A brutal, twisted, and satisfying continuation that leaves you wanting to see just how far this fight for vengeance will go!

Beyond Repair 2 brings Lucas back. This time things are different. Bill hasn't forgotten what happens when you don't follow orders. This takes, it costs an arm and a leg to the next level. Sometimes revenge is sweet and other times its sour. There's times when you hit your breaking point. Lucas is at that point

I love where this story is going. I think I enjoyed this one more than the the first part. I felt this was just as violent but had a overall darker element to it. It is also one that if you have triggers... beware. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Whoa!
Was not expecting so many INTENSE moments compared to part one.
This totally stepped it up a few notches... okay, more than a few👀

Lucas is not doing very well due to his job. He is losing it.
Bill wants revenge and will do whatever it takes to get it.
