Sometimes the smallest paws can lead two lonely hearts exactly where they belong. 🐾

In the charming coastal town of Sunshine Bay, The Bookworm by the Bay, is known for two wonderful stories and rescue cats looking for loving homes. When two children convince their single parents to adopt a pair of inseparable kittens, they don’t realize their plan might change more than the cats’ lives.

For Sarah, life has been about responsibility and routine since her divorce. The last thing she expects is to be sharing custody of two mischievous kittens—or spending time with Simon, the kind, steady father whose daughter is determined that their families belong together.

As the kittens grow bolder and the children’s matchmaking schemes become impossible to ignore, Sarah and Simon find themselves drawn into a friendship neither planned for. But opening their hearts again means facing old doubts and the fear of getting hurt.

Meanwhile, at the bookstore, Lance and Raven are creating plans to expand the Cat's Meow Rescue Centre, and are bringing the community together, proving that sometimes the best connections happen when people—and cats—least expect them.

Warm, uplifting, and filled with small-town charm, Paws for Connection is the first book in the Pages & Paws series—perfect for readers who love sweet romance, found family, and stories where a curious cat knows exactly where it belongs.

Sarah and Simon’s story completely pulled me in—I was hooked within the first few pages. Their connection felt so genuine, with a sweet, slow-building romance that perfectly matched the cozy, small-town setting.

I especially loved how the kittens and their kids brought them together in such a natural, heartwarming way. Watching their relationship grow from tentative friendship into something deeper was both comforting and emotionally satisfying. The story balances light, feel-good moments with just enough vulnerability to make you really root for them.

Charming, uplifting, and full of heart, this is a lovely start to the Pages & Paws series. If you enjoy sweet romance, found family, and a touch of matchmaking mischief (from both kids and cats!), this one is definitely worth picking up.

Paws for Connection by Jeanine Lauren, is a clean romance and the first book in the Pages and Paws, a light romance series set in the Canadian coastal town of Sunshine bay and particularly the cat rescue centre there.

Unusually for a romance novel there was more than one romance the first being between Raven the owner of the rescue centre and Lance a book store owner. As well as two divorced single parents of a daughter Sarah and Simone.

While there is a perfectly justifiable reason for the writer Janine Lauren to put these two romances in the first novel of a series. As a reader it felt that the novel lacked a flow that you would normally have for a romance novel.

It is very similar to when you read a book with multiple perspectives there is always one perspective you like more than the other, even if you do not dislike the others.

Which means while both romances were interesting as a reader when not reading your favourite romance you will have in the back of your mind when are we getting back to that one.

In addition to this both romances are fighting for limited spaces in the novel so one or the other will feel crowded out.

So for me Raben and Lance’s romance should have been a prequal making Simon and Sarah[s book one of the series.

However, having said that Jeanine Lauren was able to build up the tension in the development of the romance between Simon and Sarah, as they moved from acquaintances at the start of the novel both as parents of two friends and the addition of the adoption of the two cats.

All the way to a full blown romance at the end, along with the struggles of being a single parent both one with the ex involved and one without, which really added to both the character arc of the individuals in the novel as well as the romance.

So while Paws for Connection by Jeanine Lauren does have its limitations I would still recommend this for romance readers.

**★★★★☆ | Sweet, Gentle, and Full of Heart**

*Paws for Connections* by Jeanine Lauren is a cozy, feel-good romance that leans into quiet moments, emotional healing, and the beauty of starting over.

This story shines in its simplicity. Rather than relying on dramatic twists or heavy conflict, it focuses on everyday connections—shared routines, honest conversations, and the slow building of trust. The relationship between Sarah and Simon develops naturally, making their romance feel genuine and earned.

The small-town setting adds so much warmth to the story. Sunshine Bay feels inviting and lived-in, with its sense of community, familiar faces, and comforting spaces like the bookstore and animal shelter. It creates the perfect backdrop for a story centered on connection and belonging.

And of course, the cats are a highlight. They bring charm and heart to the story without overpowering it, tying the characters together in a way that feels both meaningful and natural.

The characters themselves are relatable and grounded, each carrying past hurts and insecurities that shape how they approach new relationships. Their growth is subtle but rewarding to watch.

The pacing is slower and more reflective, which fits the tone well, though readers looking for high tension or fast-moving drama may find it a bit too gentle at times.

Overall, *Paws for Connections* is a warm, comforting read that celebrates love, family, and second chances in a soft and heartfelt way. It’s perfect for readers who enjoy low-stress romances with strong emotional connection and cozy small-town vibes.

Paws for Connections is an easy, pleasant read that focuses on everyday moments rather than big drama. Set in Sunshine Bay, it follows two single parents who meet through their kids, a local bookstore, and a pair of rescue kittens who gently tie everything together.

The story moves at an unhurried pace. Sarah and Simon don’t fall into an instant romance, and there’s no forced tension pushing them along. Their connection grows through shared routines, honest conversations, and the quiet trust that comes from having already lived full lives. It feels natural and well earned.

The cats are important without taking over the story. They support the theme of finding where you belong and being open to new beginnings, even when you’re not actively seeking change.

The town adds a warm, steady backdrop through the bookstore, rescue work, and familiar faces, all of which feel like part of a real community rather than a staged setting.

This is a calm, thoughtful romance that values connection over chemistry and comfort over conflict. If you’re looking for something gentle, kind, and easy to settle into, this book delivers exactly that. I enjoyed it.

🐾 Love Will Find a Way . . .

Raven Johnson headed off after giving her rescue cat Jackie an affectionate scratch under the chin. She entered the Cat’s Meow Rescue Center across the street and greeted Mal who was busily working as she updated Raven on the morning's tasks. The vet Rosalyn had taken in a feral mom cat and her kittens which she would keep until the babies were older. The rescue center was already packed with 38 cats -- only able to take in two more. Then she put Charlotte in a carrier and took her to The BookWorm to meet the resident cat, Rhett Butler, before Raven had to rush off to give her talk at the parent-teaching meeting. She invited the owner, Lance, to dinner later since she will be talking with the owner there about the upcoming adoption event and Esther had offered to put up flyers.

When two children, Sally and Riley, finally convince their single parents, Sarah and Simon, to co-adopt a sweet pair of kittens, will it be a way to bring the couple together as well? Or will they let fear from past hurts keep them skeptical? And will Lance and Raven follow through on their plans for improving the Cat's Meow Rescue Center by generating enthusiastic participation from the town's citizens? Love will find a way, they say... can it truly brighten the entire town? (And yes, I am an absolute cat lover and can fully believe this!)

Set in the charming coastal town of Sunshine Bay, this story follows Raven, a 55-year-old cat rescue owner whose life begins to shift when she forms a new relationship with Lance, the local bookstore owner. His shop has taken on a heartwarming new purpose—showcasing cats available for adoption under the tagline, “Where stories find readers and cats find homes.”

Alongside them, we meet Sarah and Simon, two single parents brought together by shared situations (they no longer have their partners). Their daughters, best friends, are determined to adopt a bonded pair of kittens—and cleverly ensure they each take one, creating a reason for Sarah and Simon to stay connected as they co-parent the pets. Through these small, meaningful interactions, a gentle, slow-burn romance begins to blossom.

This is a tender, feel-good story of second chances, blending love, family, and healing with a strong thread of community. Perfect for readers who enjoy heartfelt romances—and for anyone who has a soft spot for cats, children, and the ties that bring people together.

Paws for Connections is a feel-good, cosy small-town story set in Sunshine Bay.

This story features two single parents, Sarah and Simon, who met through their children. They decided to adopt sibling cats together. Raven Johnson, who runs the cat rescue centre, urges people to adopt these cats.

Each character truly shines in their own way. I enjoyed reading about Sarah and Simon; I loved how they gradually built a connection through their daughters and cats; there was no drama involved. I also appreciated Raven and Lance’s story. Every character felt realistic, as they all carry their past burdens and struggles, and I found it touching to see how the people around them help each other heal.

The cats are the highlight of the story; they help the characters connect through their presence, which is meaningful.

I loved the small-town backdrop and the sense of community in the story, which creates connections through settings like an animal shelter and a bookstore.

I loved the pacing of the story; it wasn’t rushed; it was perfect.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book, looking forward to reading the second book in the series. It’s a perfect read for cat lovers.

Thank you for the opportunity to review Paws for Connection. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I chose to give this book a try because I’m a huge cat lover and it sounded really cute.

I enjoyed the two connecting story lines and how they overlapped periodically. This was a cozy romance with a lot of sweetness and light. The characters were typical small town folk who were testing the waters of later in life romance as single parents. I liked the character of Simon the most as I found him to be the most realistic and relatable.

The book reminded me of a hallmark movie. It was sweet and enjoyable but there wasn’t a lot that actually happened and there wasn’t any real ending other than they agreed to be together. I would have liked to know more about the Wren storyline and seen an epilogue that created a more complete HEA.

Overall the book was an easy and enjoyable read and was well written. Thank you again to BookSirens and the author Jeanine Lauren for the gifted copy.

Simple and sweet. The primary story focuses on two single parents fall for each other while they and their daughters all fall for two adorable kittens. The secondary story focuses on a middle-aged couple. The pairing is very new and it’s uncertain where the relationship is going. Both storylines were G-rated. I enjoyed reading about ppl over the age of 30 and 40, rediscovering joy, fun, and romance. However, I found the constant talk of logistics (who is going to watch the girls, the kittens, pick-up, drop off, ordering take-out) dull. It made the story very flat for much of the middle. I appreciate the realism, but I would have enjoyed more extended conversations between both couples as they got to know each other better. More flirting, kissing, and general canoodling.

I rated this 2.5 stars overall

Raven Johnson ran the Cats Meow Rescue Center but she was running out of space. Lance runs the Bookworm by the Bay bookstore and Lance is going to help Raven figure out to make money to increase the center. Sarah King and her daughter Riley lives with her mom. Sarah is a lawyer and her ex-husband is remarried and going to have a baby soon. Simon Ward is a fourth grade teacher and him and his daughter Sally live alone since her mom left when she was three. Both of the women Raven and Sarah use extreme caution when it comes to men in their lives. But the good thing is that Riley and Sally are best friends and they both want to adopt a pair of cats that shouldn’t be split apart. Loved how everyone worked together great for each other plus the community.

Paws for Connection has a cute plot line incorporating family dynamics and multiple types of relationships. I appreciated the ease through which the author creates a small town community with big ambitions and connections. The characters are likable and their relationships are tender. I found myself needing multiple reminders that this is the first book in a series, which did get old halfway through the book. There are a lot of characters and some aren’t developed much. I would anticipate them taking on a more central role in future installments, but perhaps their introduction would have been better suited in a second or third book. Still, this is a cute book with romance appropriate for young adult readers.

Thank you Netgalley and Jeanine Lauren for an arc!

Paws of Connection was a cute read, just like a heartwarming movie on a cozy afternoon. Love and closeness happening over adopting two bonded cats is the cutest thing I have read in a while.

The book follows two stories, Raven with her new relationship and some problems with her daughter, while upgrading her cat shelter and helping more adorable cats and kitties find homes. I loved how the whole shelter is portrayed, very in deep and detailed. Plots like that are usually barely touched and I loved the details! And for the other hand, we have Sarah fresh for her divorce, with her young daughter and the kittens she's co-parenting with Simon.

A lovely book to pass a nice time with your own kitty, or with the thought of adopting one!

I received this book early with NetGalley!

I enjoyed this cute little story overall! I think a few things could be improved, I think there would be benefit to diving more into Raven’s story. It felt like Sarah and Simon’s story was fully flushed out, but in contrast I feel like I didn’t get to know Raven quite as well. Jumping back and forth between the two POVs felt confusing at times, and I found myself really just wanting to hear about Sarah and Simon. There are a few grammar mistakes and punctuation mistakes that could be edited further. Overall I had a fun time reading it, and no huge qualms overall. It was a fun, light read. Though I didn’t find myself pulled in enough to want to read a sequel story.

The Pages and Paws initiative described in Jeanine Lauren’s Paws for Connection presents a dream come true for this reader. What could be better than a book and a cat to curl up with? I met the Tumble Twins—two Russian blue kittens that two best friends are lobbying to adopt if they can get their parents, single mom Sarah and single dad Simon to agree. As sparks fly between certain humans and affection grows for the adorable felines, I fell in love with the characters—both human and animal. Well-written and engaging, I highly recommend Paws for Connection, set in the delightful world of Sunshine Bay.

Such a sweet story. Riley and Sally are the best of friends and decide to convince Sarah (Riley's mom) and Simon (Sally's dad) to allow them to each adopt a kitten from a bonded pair. But, for Raven (the owner of the Cat's Meow cat shelter) to allow it, Sarah and Simon have to agree to co-parent the kittens and allow them to see each other often. This leads to a wonderful, slow, cautious beginning to a lovely relationship. Both Sarah and Simon have been hurt in the past and it takes time for them to overcome the fear of being hurt again. Heartwarming and a lovely light read.

'Set in the charming seaside town of Sunshine Bay, Paws for Connection is a small-town romance about second chances, found family, and the unexpected ways love finds us — with a little help from some very determined kittens.'

Too cute!

The characters were very appealing and likeable and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and well paced. World building was solidly drawn and impressive. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

I thought this was an incredibly cute story that had a lot of potential. The characters were good especially the cats. I wish the cats had more page time though as anyone who has ever had a cat knows the chaos kittens bring. Where I felt it fell kinda short. There wasn’t really any kind of conflict or any kind of obstacle to overcome. So when we got to the end it just seemed like it ended. Another thing I felt the dialogue was a bit clunky from the kids. I still enjoyed reading it and don’t regret my time spent with the tumble twins!

This ARC was provided by Victory Editing on NetGalley, thank you for the opportunity and be assured the following is my honest review.

This was such a fun and cosy read. I'm an absolute sucker for books that feature cats so I knew this was going to be a winner for me, but the story here was so good. This book really demonstrates the healing power of time and how much patience is a necessity in relationships.

I loved how this wasn't just a cutesy romance from the get go, it gives a realistic and relatable story about 2 couples overcoming trauma and how challenging relationships can be when children are involved. I really loved this one and absolutely will read more from this author.

I liked the way the author incorporated the cats, girls and love into the story. It also told two stories in one. Sarah with daughter Riley are a match for Simon and his daughter Sally. Add in two tumbling kittens and it is the beginning of a family. Then there is Raven with her boyfriend Lance. When Raven's daughter needs help she pushes Lance away. Is it for Wren or is it fear of getting hurt? It is a book that everyone can connect with. I highly recommend this book to all romance readers.

This is a sweet romance, found family with small-town charm.
Two children who are best friends convince their parents to adopt a pair of inseparable kittens.
Sarah and Simon were such great characters, and were written like normal people, with flaws and insecurities.
Lance and Raven are another couple within this story with their own fears to overcome.
This book offers POV from multiple people with relationships that felt realistic.
As a cat owner myself, I really enjoyed this book.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC. I definitely enjoyed cute and cozy little romance built around cats, single parenting, and a bit of community. It was a quick read and I liked ‘seeing’ how Sarah and Simon’s romance grew to be what it ended as. However, I did find the story a little slow at points, needing more depth. In the end it’s a solid 3.25! I’ll definitely pick up more books from this author to see how their writing develops, and how the series continues.

Great character development, just enough depth and internal struggle and lots of light joy and laughter. I can’t wait to continue the stories in the series set in Sunshine Bay!

Simon and Sarah’s daughters are best friends and both interested in a bonded pair of kittens. What starts out as co kitten parenting becomes something else the more time their daughters meet up for kitten play dates. But they have both been burned by their exes and are reluctant to take another chance on love. Their girls and kittens added several sweet and funny moments in this furry romance.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for letting me read and review this book.

This book first appealed to me for two reasons: cats and romance. I'm already big animal and cat person, and who doesn't like a bit of romance too?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was an easy read with a sweet ending. I'll definitely read the next book that will follow on from this.

This was a cute little book to pass the time. When I saw cats and romance I knew I had to check it out! It was a shorter story so it remained fairly surface level and didn’t dive too deep, but it all felt very natural and flowed well. I liked seeing the relationship blossom, and of course the cats, and I can’t wait to read the next one!
