3 - "Welcome to Joisey." Stars!

Having read more than a few sports based romances in the last month or so, it’s fair to say that they have definitely been a mixed bag in the enjoyment stakes for me. I think at any other time, and with less reading numbers of books containing a similar theme, The Heat of the Moment may have deemed a higher rating from me, no guarantee’s, but it is possible .

"To strength and patience."

Three stars for me means I enjoyed it, but there isn’t really anything about it that stood out, in fact the a lot of the tropes used were eerily similar to another book released by this publisher recently, except this book is set around Baseball, and the other was around Ice Hockey.

"You make me feel like… there’s hope. This will happen. I will get well, fit in here and make a place for myself."

I loved Gavin King, I think it is safe to say he is the kind of guy that we idealise as women, but not generally how a guy would potentially be, and I did find a lot of his thoughts, feelings and actions to be a little on the feminine side. I am not saying he totally lost his Man-Card but he was charming and pleasant to the nth degree, and even the sex was a little perfunctory. But he was an absolute gentleman, went out of his way to make Jess feel like a beautiful and desirable woman, and to see past the fact he is a Baseball Player, to the humble and dedicated man underneath.

"I want…"

Jessica was my other big issue, I struggled with her attitude and behaviour towards Gavin for most of the book. I understood that she had been hurt in the past by another douche bag ball-player, but pretending to get with other guys, to make the one actually interested in you jealous, and expecting him to jump through all-sorts of hoops and then still be a bit of a bitch to him really didn’t do a lot for the chemistry between them, I also struggled with the level of her issues bearing in mind said relationship with douche-bag only lasted six months, it’s not as if they were walking down the aisle or had years together between them.

Overall a good read, it just doesn’t quite hit the levels of some of the other books with this theme that I have read recently.

A sweet and sexy lighthearted romance.

For Jessica, being one of the guys comes naturally since she grew up with four older brothers. As physical therapist for a professional baseball team, understanding sports and its psychology is equally easy with all her brothers growing up to be professional athletes. As a woman, she’s gone down the road of dating a pro-ball player and found it’s a heartbreakingly disappointing road and sworn never to go out with professionals. So why is she compelled to take the risk once more after she meets her incredibly handsome client, the newly acquired New Jersey’s Sonics heavy hitter?
“You make me feel like… there’s hope. That this will happen. I will get well, fin in here, and make a place for myself. And eventually, be right back to knocking it out of the park.”

Gavin thought he had everything he wanted. A promising career and future with an elite baseball club and gorgeous girlfriend who hung on his arm. But after a serious knee injury he finds out his team isn’t willing to bet on him and neither is his soon to be ex-girlfriend. After being traded to the Sonics he finds himself struggling to accept his new reality with a team of jokesters while trying to rehabilitate his knee, get back to playing form and keep his distance from his alluring physical therapist. Can he convince Jessica into taking a chance on them?
“I very much want to see her, to treat her the way she deserves… Your sister can be a little stubborn. She has decided that she won’t date another ballplayer. I intend to change all that.”

This is a great weekend read. I loved the excitement of reading about America’s national pastime coupled with the vested interest I had with the characters.
"I just got caught up in the heat of the moment."

I really liked Gavin, he’s a charismatic, alpha male with romantic streak and hidden vulnerability given his current condition. You can’t get any sexier than that, even when his plans for wooing Jessica include giving beautiful flowers she’s allergic to and dinner plans turn soggy. I also liked Jessica, her honesty and her tomboyishness very much, except a couple of times when she acted a bit immaturely. But I found that I was enjoying the plot and her behavior didn’t hinder hers and Gavin’s relationship.
“Jessica Hart was her own person. She had a job that she was good at, helped other people, contributed. A purpose-driven life.”

The attraction between Gavin and Jessica was intense and instant. But I liked their push-pull and how they became friends first because of Jessica’s reservations towards professional athletes and Gavin’s unavailability.

I love a good sports romance, especially one with an attractive, thoughtful and charming hitter. The Heat of The Moment is the third book in The Boys of Summer series by Katie Rose. Filled with the thrill of baseball and tender and hot moments with a happy ending. It can be read as a standalone with interconnecting characters from the previous book in the series. No cheating.

The Heat of the Moment is the third book in the Boys of Summer series by Katie Rose, if you love romance and baseball this is the series for you.

Gavin King is on the DL list because of an injury and he is transferred to the Sonics, his life has hit rock bottom having to leave the team he loves, his home and his girlfriend he never sees anymore to New Jersey he is not happy.

Jessica Hart in the Sonics physical therapist she loves her job but she had her heart broken by a baseball player once so she keeps everything professional "no dating athletes".

Until Gavin walks into her treatment room and there is instant chemistry between them. They start off as therapist/patient but with one on one treatment plan they soon become friends which soon turns into something more. Can Jessica trust Gavin with her heart?

This is a nice sweet friends to lovers story with some hot passion thrown in, I love Gavin he's so sexy and Jessica is sweet and It was great catching up with the other couples from this series and what they have been up to. Love catching up with the Sonics team while they play baseball and all the practical jokes they play. Overall a fun read with sweet romance and lots of steam.

The Heat of the Moment is a sweet, sexy and endearing baseball romance.

Jessica Hart is a physical therapist for the Jersey Sonics. She has a strict rule, never get involved with her clients which was great until she meets Gavin King.

Gavin was at the top of his game until a knee injury might destroy his chances of ever returning at top performance again. Now he just has to keep his head down, take it easy and leave the fiery red headed Jessica be. That is much easier said than done because the pull between them is absolutely magnetic.

Gavin is a strong alpha character with just the right amount of vulnerability. He’s not one to sit easily on the side lines.

Jessica is a woman who knows herself and what she wants. She grew up knowing a brother had her back. Jessica builds a friendship with Gavin that evolves, it isn’t an insta-love situation, making it realistic and pulling you deeper into the story.

The Heat of the Moment was a great contemporary romance. I enjoyed watching the story unfold. If you are a sports romance fan, then The Heat of the Moment is the perfect book for you.

Yahoo Sports Romances! I was very excited for this book. The Heat of the Moment is the third book in The Boys of Summer series by Katie Rose. Growing up, I was a wee bit boy crazy over baseball players. I mean, between them and surfers, my girly hearthrob world was complete. Anyway, that put this book right up my alley, and before I even started it, I read the previous two books in the series. (You can find the reviews on my blog as well!) The Heat of the Moment does have an HEA, it can be read as a standalone but I think you'd enjoy it more if you'd read the other books, and it's told from dual first person point-of-views between the main characters.

I went into this book sort of blind and in fact, I didn't read the synopsis. I had been prepared for who I thought this book was going to be about, and it wasn't. That left me extremely surprised, but in a good way. In The Heat of the Moment, you meet recently injured and traded from the Dodgers to the Sonics, Gavin King. The trade basically turns his career on it's head. With his injury, no one wants to take a chance on him, except for the Sonics.

Gavin is one of those characters that I just instantly loved. He's going through all manner of things, his life is up in the air, he loves baseball and doesn't know if he's going to be able to keep playing it. It doesn't set him on his backside though, he puts his nose to the grindstone and keeps trying. I'd like to call him stubborn, but he's not. Instead I'll term his as a hard working hunk with a six pack. On a serious note, he's a pretty complex character, when nothing seems to be going right for him, he doesn't curl up in a ball and just die off. He fights back.

Enter Jessica Hart into his life, the Sonics's physical therapist. Red-headed, freckled, tomboyish... another character I instantly loved. She's gorgeous, the guys drool over her and she's oblivious to it. She has her mind set on helping Gavin recover from his injury, and she'll drag him out of his dull drums more than once. She doesn't let him feel sorry for himself. She's fiery, and feisty, yet has a soft center to her.

There isn't an instant attraction between these two beyond the acknowledgement of the fact that the other is attractive. They actually start out with a very solid working relationship, which turns into friends and then more. I think I enjoyed that slow burn to the explosive chemistry the most.

The Heat of the Moment was a four star read for me. I only found two actual problems that I had with it and the are mostly minor. In fact, others may not even notice them. The first reason it's rated lower is because the ending seemed rushed. I got a bit confused at one part because it just seemed to jump and I wasn't sure how that happened. Even rereading it. The other reason I had was that, while the ending is rushed, if you've read the first two books, you'll realize that the main characters from the first book are getting married. Gavin and Jessica are attending that wedding. It almost felt as if the end of the book was more about the other characters, then the main characters in this book. (Hopefully that makes sense.) All in all though, I'd definitely recommend this book. It's a great curl up and escape book.

After a potentially career ending knee injury, Gavin King is traded from his plush set-up in California to the ragtag New Jersey Sonics. Leaving behind his swimsuit model girlfriend, and all the luxuries California affords, this is not a move that makes Gavin happy. When his beautiful swimsuit model girlfriend cheats on him, and then dumps him—things go from bad to worse. However, it doesn’t take long before his loveable prankster teammates bring him into their fold and then, of course, there’s Jessica Hart.

Jessica Hart is Gavin’s physical therapist. She’s been burned, badly, by a baseball player before—so she’s beyond not interested in the likes of fallen superstar Gavin King. She can’t deny there’s an attraction, and maybe he treats her with more tenderness and respect than anyone ever has before, but she’s not sure she can risk her heart again. Her insecurities, well earned, have her locked completely down, but Gavin is up for the challenge.

Before this book, I was beginning to think I had something against baseball players. I love sports romances, but I haven’t really been swept away by a baseball player—until now. Hello, Gavin King. Welcome to my book boyfriend collection, make yourself at home cuz I plan on keeping you!

Gavin is perfect. He’s solid and strong, tender and sexy as all get out. He’s not a game player, and he’s not afraid of commitment and hard work. He’s everything that Jess is afraid of, but with that steady, tender heart. I mean, I love a bad boy as much as the next girl. But I also love it when a boy who is supposed to be bad is mature, and level headed, and just…perfect. Gavin is proof that you can be alpha without being an asshole. Nice guys don’t have to be boring. And there was never going to be a better fit for someone as wounded as Jess.

Jess is incredibly likeable. She’s wounded, but she doesn’t let that define her. She’s plucky and smart and strong and kind. I’m not going to lie, I loved her almost as much as I loved Gavin. Her insecurities were understandable and she worked to get past them. She is the ultimate tomboy, but she’s not one-dimensional and she also embraces her inner sex kitten. She’s the kind of girl I’d want for a best friend, and the perfect fit for Gavin. If I have to share him with someone, I’m glad it’s Jessica Hart.

I truly loved everything about this book. It’s flirty and sexy and fun—it turns out nice guys can ruin a girl’s panties just as easily as a bad boy can! The chemistry between Jess and Gavin is smokin’ hot and a rewarding balance to their easy, fun friendship. Jess’s family is hilarious, and of course, the knuckleheads on Gavin’s team are always good for a laugh (one of the best parts of sports romance is that team camaraderie—and this book does not disappoint). Everything about this book just felt good – and it just might have been enough to make a baseball groupie out of me. ~ Shelly, 5 stars

I've said it before, and I will say it again... Baseball = ARM PORN. And for that reason alone, I would pick up a baseball book--the visuals. Not to mention, I enjoyed the second book in this series enough to want to come back for more. So, yeah, grabbing The Heat of the Moment was an easy decision. Falling in love with Gavin, even easier!

Gavin King isn't exactly thrilled to be traded to the New Jersey Sonics after a potentially career-ending knee injury makes him too much of a risk for his much more successful Californian team. But he's bound and determined to make the most of it--he's no quitter, and he is not afraid of hard work.

Part of getting the knee right is working with Sonics' physical therapist, Jessica Hart, a very tempting, very attractive redhead that draws him in. Only Jessica isn't about to break her no-baseball-players dating rule for anyone, least of all a cocky, handsome slugger from California.

Gavin won't let that stop him though. He knows what he wants, and he'll do whatever it takes to get his knee right--and Jessica into his arms.

I really, really enjoyed this story. It was a lot of fun, and Gavin was just mmm, yummy! Sure, he knows he's good at what he does, but he doesn't take it for granted--he's willing to put in the hard yards, for both his career and Jess's heart, and I loved him for it. He was kind, funny, and protective, and an incredibly perfect match for his girl, who had been burned by a ball player in the past.

Jess was also kind of perfect. I mean, sure, she was guarded because she'd been hurt before, but in a believable way--a way that made me want to junk-punch the douche that hurt her, and made Gavin's courtship of Jess that much harder for him. She was smart, sassy, surprisingly (to herself, more than anyone) sexy, and had a group of brothers that I wouldn't say no to reading more about.. *cough cough*

The team is, once again, super fun and funny here. I love the Sonics; they're a ragtag bunch in many ways, but their pluck and their pranks are so endearing, you can't help but root for them. Even the bad apples aren't that bad in the end, and that's spot-on for a group of men that love the game, and find enjoyment in it, in and out of the diamond. I do wish we'd got a touch more at the ending for the team, but I'll be back for the next boy in the Boys of Summer series, and will another Sonics (and arm porn) fix then. ~ Beth, 4.5 stars

I feel always a little awkward when I have to review a book that had good promises and didn't turned out well for me.

Heat of the moment had a nice start. Baseball player, Gavin has been transferred in a new team mostly because his previous team didn't believed in him after his injury.

The change is brutal and though for him and of course he needs time to adjust.
On top of everything, he needs to heal this injury and he's not really patient about it.

Jessica is the physical therapist of his new team. Not really looking for a relationship, she feels mostly insecure because of a previous relation that had gone bad.

What didn't worked for me was how the story drag a little too much. Things were sometimes a little too repetitive.
I also wanted more connections between our MC. I felt like they were only together for their physic. They didn't spend much time getting to know each other IMO.

Jessica and her insecurities were also a little annoying and takes too much part in the story.

I know Katie Rose can write sweet loving stories but this one wasn't more than nice to me.

This was my first encounter with this author's work, and I must say it left a VERY good first impression! Being that it is the third installment in the series, and not having read the previous titles, I was a little concerned I'd have a hard time following along, but that wasn't the case for me at all. I think this book could easily be read as a stand alone title, but my guess is that once you finish it you will be reaching for the other books in the series, I know I plan to!

I truly enjoyed reading this story, I found the writing style was very engaging and easy to submerse myself into, so much so, I ended up devouring it in one sitting. The characters are very well written, and are very entertaining, I loved the heated banter between them! Some of my favorite reads are sports related romance stories and this one definitely hit the mark for me!

This would make a perfect summer read, however, I suggest keeping a cool drink close by, because these very enticing baseball players like to heat things up!!

Gavin is as sweet as Jack was, and so perfect for Jessica. Great romance with baseball and sex thrown in. Plus a great look at PT. We get to see all the old Sonic crew plus more practical jokes. Now who's going to be next?

ARC REVIEW

The Boys of Summer are back! Yeah, I love this series. Katie Rose brings us a new player, Gavin King traded from the Dodgers to the Sonics because an injury. The injury if not treated properly can end his career; good thing the Sonics have Jessica Hart one of the best Physical Therapist in the biz. I love these two they had such a great romance. As always Katie Rose writes wonderfully it pulls me in and I don't want to leave even after I finish the book.

Gavin King just got traded, and even before he was officially told it was on twitter. The Dodgers just couldn't risk and injured player on their team and had no trouble trading him to the New Jersey Sonics. The Sonics had faith in him, that he would get better with the right PT and be even better than before. It was a bit of culture shock for Gavin Jersey being so different from southern California but his new team mates welcomed him like family and even PT looks promising.

Jessica Hart swore off baseball players, you know what that means right, you swear something off and sure enough it's going to happen. Jessica had a bad boyfriend, he's a girl in every city kinda guy and when she caught him cheating it was from the newspaper. Jessica loves sports comes from a family of athletes and the only girl which makes her brothers very protective especially after the last guy. So far Jessica has had no problem keeping the players at a distance, even though one of them is very insistent, until Gavin. Their is an attraction between Gavin and Jessica but Gavin has a girlfriend back in Cali and Jessica's strict no baseball player rule. That all goes up in smoke when the girlfriend breaks up with him after admitting to cheating and Jessica's bad ex-boyfriend shows up again wanting her back. After an emotional encounter with the ex, Gavin is their a shoulder to cry on and needing comfort and wanting to feel wanted Jessica and Gavin have a very heated encounter. Gavin has come to the realization that Jessica is like no other woman, and he won't stop until she admits she wants him just as much. He just has to convince her that she is worthy of being loved for who she is and that he is the right guy for her. Things never run smoothly they have their bumps in the road and Jessica runs scared but Gavin doesn't give up.

Overall, this was another great book for the series it mentions past characters and see how their HEAs are going.

An Awesome addition to the Boys of Summer series. This is easily read stand alone if you haven't picked up the others (you really should though!). I loved these characters right from the start and what a perfect character Gavin turned out to be.

After suffering an injury that no one is sure he can recover from, Gavin finds himself being traded from one of the top teams to what is considered one of the jokes of the league, the New Jersey Sonics.
Accepting the trade like the professional he is, Gavin is determined to get through rehab, get back in the game, and prove once again he deserves to be on a top contenders roster. Once he meets his very attracted physical therapist, he knows he better stay away from her or all is plans could go up in smoke.

Physical therapist Jessica Hart knows Gavin King's type. Love 'em and leave 'em all the way. Been there, done that, not going to happen again. After getting to know him though she begins to think maybe she has him wrong but is she willing to break her no dating athlete's rule???

This is a fantastic easy read that I definitely recommend.

22/3 - For me this was just okay. I didn't feel a huge amount of connection between Jessica and Gavin and I was expecting it to be a lot more humourous than it was. This seemed like the kind of book that would be full of hilarious snark and when it wasn't I felt let down. That disappointment was my own fault as it was my own preconceptions that made me think it was going to be funny, the lack of funny wasn't the book's fault (it's not like humour was promised in the blurb), but still I can't help how I felt or how it coloured my enjoyment of the book. There was some, but not too much unintelligible baseball talk (all I know about baseball came from playing the game on the original Nintendo back in the early 90s), it certainly wasn't enough to put me off or deter me from reading other books in the series (although the perceived lack of passion in this one may make me think twice about reading another).

2.5-3 stars.

This is a light afternoon read. Gavin was charming, very sweet yet still had moments of being a hot, bossy alpha. For the most part Jessica was likable, unfortunately there were times where she acted like an immature girl instead of a grown woman, which was frustrating. I found myself annoyed with her silly behavior. The pace of the story was slow and little to nothing unfolded until the end of the book. I found myself skimming just to finish.

This is the 3rd book in The Boys of Summer series, and could be read as a stand alone, but why would you want to miss out on any of these boys.

Baseballer Gavin King's life is turned upside down when he is injured, traded and dumped. Shipped across country, things couldn't get worse for him.

Life at the Sonics is a lot different from life at the Dodgers - but that's not a bad thing. His new team mates are a pack of rascals and jokesters. His physical therapist Jess becomes a firm friend, dragging him out of his misery and dragging him back to health.

I adored both our MCs right from the start. There is an intensity between them, an attraction that can't be, won't be denied. I love the banter between them, that they got to know each other before jumping right into things.

There were some straight up laugh out loud moments in The Heat Of The Moment that had me just giggling along with our characters. The Murphy is a right old sod sometimes!

The Heat of The Moment is a sweet, light, angst-free read that I thoroughly enjoyed, and I can't wait to see who the next boy of summer will be.

I've read my fair share of sports romances, but there have only been a few I've enjoyed from start to finish. The Heat of the Moment has been one of them. From that first meeting between Gavin and Jessica, I knew that their story was going to be one I would enjoy.

Gavin King has been traded to the New Jersey Sonics after a near career-ending injury. His main focus is to work on his recovery so he could get back to the game he loves. Adjusting to a new team and a new city has not been easy, but having Jessica as his therapist and friend has made the transition bearable.

As soon as Jessica Hart met Gavin she knew she would have to try her best to keep her distance. Gavin has everything she usually goes for--good looks, a charming personality and a kind heart. She's been burned before and has no desire for a repeat heart brake.

I loved this story! What's not to love? You have Gavin--a sexy baseball player with a heart of gold. He was funny, smart and considerate, an exceptional baseball player who took his career seriously, a loyal friend and teammate, a sweet supportive friend and a passionate lover--I loved all facets of the guy, especially when he went all alpha-male on Jessica.

Then there was Jessica who I thought was the perfect partner for Gavin. I admired her loyalty to her patients and her determination to give them the best care she could provide. I also enjoyed her sense of humor and her fierceness. She loved deeply and even when she had her doubts she never wavered in her feelings for Gavin or his treatment.

So as you can imagine, Gavin and Jessica together an even more enjoyable treat. With flirty banter, good-natured bickering and honest interactions, Katie Rose made sure that Gavin and Jessica's connection made it to the page and stayed in the forefront throughout. It was a slow journey to romance, but seeing their transition from friends to lovers was well worth the wait. Of course, it didn't hurt that they had great chemistry. Those first few encounters were...er, let me just say that I enjoyed being caught in the heat of the moment each and every time. ;-)

Keep in mind that although this is the third book in The Boys of Summer series it can be read as a stand alone.

All in all, a fun, sweet and thoroughly enjoyable read with plenty of heat to keep you interested throughout.

4.5 Stars for another baseball stud

This is the next book in Rose's Boys of Summer Series and we continue to follow the Sonics. They have a new guy from the Dodgers, Gavin. He is not so thrilled with being sent to NJ Sonics, it was bad enough dealing with his recent knee injury. Luckily, Jessica is a great PT/trainer and she will be getting Gavin back on the field in no time. What Jessica didn't expect was to get Gavin in her bed. Despite being attracted to his amazing body and good looks, Jessica has already been burned before and she is not losing her heart to another ball player.

Fresh off his own break up, Gavin was surprised to find himself really enjoying himself with Jessica. Despite his attraction to her looks, he just really liked her as a person. Before long, the two can't control their feelings, and a brush with her past lands Jessica seeking comfort in Gavin's arms.

This story really was enjoyable. An easy read, I had no problem getting into Gavin and Jessica not only as a couple but as interesting characters. There were moments were Jessica bordered on being annoying, but they were few. The other couples from previous books in the series continue to play a role in this story which makes it all the better. The conflict, though somewhat predictable, wasn't overly drawn out and didn't add unnecessary angst. While I was worried that ending would be to abrupt, it actually was well written and I didn't feel it was rushed. Looking forward to more from this couple in upcoming books in this series.

I really liked this one! This is the second book I've read from Katie Rose's Boys of Summer series and I have to say I'm loving this whole series so far! THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT features Gavin King, who I just have to say stole my heart. He is injured while playing for a major team (Go Dodgers! My favorite team!) and no one is sure if he'll play again, which would be hard enough to face for any player, but then he's traded down to an East Coast team. Gavin has his moments, but all-in-all he's a great sport and prepared to do whatever needs to be done to keep playing the game he loves.

Jessica Hart is the trainer/physical therapist for his new team and this spunky redhead knows her stuff. She also knows players, on and off the field, having grown up with several brothers who are all professional athletes. She's also had her heart broken by a ball player and isn't interested in going down that road again. She's good with that policy until she starts working with the sexy Gavin.

The chemistry between these two was palatable and easy to see why they couldn't resist each other even though it was not a good time for either of them. One of the things I liked the most about Gavin was he was always a gentleman. He respected Jessica and he showed it. He also made sure others treated her with respect. The Heat of the Moment had story line that kept me interested, likable and well-developed characters, some steamy scenes, and professional athletes... what's not to love about that!! 4 stars.

This was such a cute read :) I don't know if this is a series or not, but if it is I'm curious to know Chase and Jake's story :) but hopefully I'll get a story from them soon :D

Anyway, this was a regular baseball romance, kind of like Play On, but with none of the dark pasts B.S...

Summary:

Physical therapist Jessica Hart has learned her lesson: Never date professional athletes. She’s been down that road, and barely recovered after the relationship crashed and burned. Then Jessica meets Gavin King. An All-Star slugger with chiseled good looks, Gavin was traded to the Sonics because he hurt his knee sliding into second, and now his future is in her hands. Gavin’s no bad boy—but he’s tempting enough to make Jessica think twice about all her rules.

Gavin is trying to find a comfortable routine. If he wants his old life back, he must take it easy, stay out of the limelight, and keep his distance from gorgeous redheaded physical therapists. The thing is, Gavin isn’t the kind of guy to sit on his ass and let other people pull his weight. And when he sees something he wants, he can’t help but fight for it, even if it means risking everything, even if it only lasts a single moment: like one kiss from Jessica.

Such a good light summer read, and hopefully I'll get to read Chase and Jake's story soon :) because I am that curious.

Another great book in The Boys of Summer series – no cliffhanger

This is the third book in The Boys of Summer series but you don’t have to have read the other books to enjoy this one; they all standalone.

Gavin King was a hitting star with the Dodgers but he injured his knee and they traded him to the much less desirable New Jersey Sonics.

Jessica Hart is a sports therapist for the Sonics and Gavin is assigned to work with her to restore his knee so he can begin playing again. Jessica doesn’t like or date baseball players.

Gavin has a girlfriend when he moves to New Jersey but she soon breaks up with him. There is an attraction between Gavin and Jessica but neither of them is interested in a relationship. Working together so closely creates sparks that eventually come to a head.

I enjoyed this book a lot; it was a nice summer read. The pace was good and the characters interesting. If you’ve read the first two books you will be happy to revisit those characters in this book but you won’t be missing anything vital if you haven’t read them.

The Boys of Summer is a good series and I look forward to reading more books from Katie Rose.

I enjoyed reading about Jessica and Gavin. When I started this book I couldn't remember the other characters from the previous books due to I read them a while ago, but I did remember this team is known for their pranks.

Gavin got hurt playing and was traded to NJ to a new team and meets Jessica his new physical therapist. Right away they are attracted to one another but Gavin still has a girlfriend is CA even though he gets the feeling something is going on with her.

Jessica gave up on baseball players because of her ex boyfriend but she sees something in Gavin and is willing to give it a shot. As they start to get close and spend more time together you can tell they are meant to be. They balance each other out well.

I loved the pranks the players played on one another and how they began to accept Gavin as part of the team even though he was still in therapy for his injury. I did expect more drama from Jessica's ex but that didn't really happen.

Hopefully the next book will come out soon and I can get lost in more baseball players falling in love.

What a great story! I have always liked sports stories, but I love the way Katie Rose wrote this one. I adore Gavin, and the fact that he seems totally honest and a gentleman. Not what I'm used to from most sports participants, real or fictional. As far as Jessica, I love that she is strong and giving, yet still a little too unsure of herself and her strengths. It was great also, to read about some of the Sonics from the previous book. Always great when the books come together like that, to where the team seems like a real one, with the close connections made. I kind of liked the fact also, that this one took place more in physical therapy to get a player a chance to play again. A really great story that I would definitely recommend.

4.5 Star Review
I was given this book by NetGalley for a honest review
This is book three in the Boys of Summer Series but as each book is about a different player it could be read as standalone.
Gavin has been traded to the Sonics because his old team are not sure if he will make it back off the DL list. His life is falling apart he is injured, been traded and his high profile girlfriend has left him .....
Jessica is the Sonic's physical therapist and there is no way she will get involved with another athlete after having her heart broken by a baseball player. She is good at what she does and she won't risk her job by mixing business with pleasure.
Sparks fly between these two and there is no doubting the attraction felt for each other.
This is a sweet romance with lots of fun and pranks from the Sonic Team and I'm looking forward to more from this baseball team.

This is a sweet, sexy read, that warms your heart. Hot sexy Gavin King, dropped from his California baseball team after a knee injury, is sent to the New Jersey Sonics. He has a lot of rehabbing to do, and his physical therapist, Jessica, is beautiful, tough and still reeling from a break up with a former player, in more ways than one. Gavin is not only recovering from his knee injury, but being dropped by his swimsuit model girlfriend in California. Let the attraction begin! Full review to follow.

The Heat of the Moment (The Boys of Summer Series) by Katie Rose

I have been reading a ton of sports contemporary novels lately. It’s a genre I really enjoy. And since the Toronto Blue Jays are doing so well, it seemed appropriate to read a baseball themed book. This is the second book I have read by Katie Rose. Too Hot to Handle was also a very good book.
I often wonder what it is like to be in a relationship with a professional athlete. We all see the images of baseball and basketball players dating celebrities. They live a life that is incomprehensible to the average person. The wealth, the pressure, the lavish lifestyle and the women. There was a tv show on this winter that followed NHL hockey wives and gave a glimpse into what their lives are like. It really didn’t look that glamorous, in fact, it looked quite lonely. So, I could relate to Jessica’s apprehension at dating another baseball player.
This book was a little different than other sports books because Gavin is injured and not playing. His full time job is to be treated by Jessica in the physical therapy room. So, there is no away games for her to worry about and distance between the two is not an issue.
When Gavin arrives in Jersey, he has been let go by his LA team, lost his model girlfriend and is deeply discouraged about his knee injury. Being treated by Jessica does a lot to revive his spirits. I liked that they developed a friendship and that she was tough on him. Even though he is drop dead gorgeous, she doesn’t let him get away with anything.
I really liked the interaction between Gavin and the other baseball players. The Sonics are a young team and the secondary characters in the book brought a lot of context to the story. Revisiting former couples was an added bonus as it lets the reader get caught up in where they are in their lives.
Jessica struggles with being enough for Gavin in this book. Is she pretty enough? Does she have the ability to keep him once his injury heals and he doesn’t need her to be his cheerleader? Normally, I would be extremely turned off by this type of insecurity – although it was very realistically presented. But Jessica had been badly burned by her ex boyfriend who happened to be a ball player as well. It was more of Jessica’s hurt making her doubt Gavin’s intentions.
But she really shouldn’t have doubted him. He was totally into her. From hanging out with her brother to meeting the parents, Gavin made no bones about the fact that he was into Jessica. I think I liked him more than other sports figures I have read about because he was so upfront. He didn’t play games and he had great intentions. The sweet things he did like bringing her flowers to the personal baseball card were just so sweet that it was really hard not to melt!
The action between the two gets going quickly as Jessica jumps him one day in the PT room. The passion between the two was really hot! It just made me like Gavin more that he was so focused on seeing to Jessica’s every need – in the bedroom and out of it!
If you are into the sports genre, than Katie Rose is an author you need to check out!

~ 3.5 Stars ~

The Heat of the Moment is the first book by Katie Rose that I have read. I enjoyed this book, but I wasn't really WOW'd by the book. This was a sweet and sexy read. Not a lot of drama but quite a bit of push and pull.

I think those two reasons are the reasons why this book didn't wow me. I thought the drama (in the form of an ex) came into the story a little too late, which kind made the ending feel rushed to me. I also wanted Gavin and Jessica to be together sooner in the story. Don't get me wrong, they do hook up sooner in the book, but it takes almost the whole book for Jessica to finally break down her walls and let him in. By that time I was rolling my eyes at Jessica quite a bit.

I thought Katie's writing style was good and she created an interesting storyline with some good characters. I think I connected better with Gavin than I did with Jessica. I am quite a fanatic for sports related romance novels and I have to say that this one was worth the read.

I felt Gavin made this book for me. He was funny, sweet, handsome and wasn't willing to let Jessica go. I loved his tenacity towards Jessica and that he was determined to prove he wasn't like all the other ball players out there. I have to say it was quite refreshing to have a sports Hero who wasn't a HUGE player. I liked that the story didn't go the typical route of the Hero who likes to drink a lot and hook up with the groupies. Gavin truly only had eyes for Jessica. Now Jessica, she got kind of annoying for me towards the end of the story. Her character started out really strong and ended up being not who I thought she was in the end. I got that she had her heart broken by another ball player, but I was sick of her judging Gavin because of Zach mistakes. She needed to see Gavin for who he really was and not forcing the past on him. I was glad to see in the end things worked out well for them, it just took a little too long for me.

Being that The Heat of the Moment is the third book in Katie's Boys of the Summer Series, I am definitely going to go back and read the first two. This book is definitely a stand alone and it is not required to read the previous books first. I never felt lost or confused while reading this novel.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is a sport romance fan, especially a baseball fan. If you are looking for that sweet, steamy and pretty drama free read, than this is the book for you.

The Boys of Summer are back! In Katie Rose’s sweet, sparkling novel, the newest New Jersey Sonic falls for the woman who’s trying desperately to save his career.

Gavin’s no bad boy—but he’s tempting enough to make Jessica think twice about all her rules. Rule #1 NO BASEBALL PLAYERS!!!

My Thoughts:

I’m a big fan of Baseball, so hence the break from my usual genre of Historical Romance. This is book #3 of the Boys of Summer series. I admit I didn’t read book one but I did have the pleasure of reading and reviewing book two “Too Hot To Handle” which released in January of this year.

Great Story!! Colleen Quinn aka Katie Rose has done it again. I highly recommend reading this entire series.

I loved this story almost from page 1! The characters are well-developed and believable to a true fan of the game. It is a sweet romance with hot sexual overtones. Heroes don’t get much hotter than Gavin and heroines not much more wary than Jessica.

These ARCS are Uncorrected Proofs and at times this is obvious. There aren’t misspellings, but words are sometimes out of sequence or left out. This makes the reading confusing at times, but doesn’t detract from the storyline. I would give the story 5 Stars ♦♦♦♦♦! After the proofreading and editing are done this Diamond in the Rough will be a Sparkling Gem!!

I can hardly wait for book #4 which I believe is in the works for later this year!

“She was stunning. There was no other word for the transformation. Like a butterfly just emerging from her cocoon, she appeared a little awkward and uncertain, but her beauty was undeniable. Even Chase did a double take, and Brian’s mouth actually drooled.”

4 sexy sports stars!!! I love a good baseball romance and this one did not disappoint!!! It doesn’t hurt that I’m a huge baseball fan to begin with!!

Physical therapist Jessica Hart has learned her lesson: Never date professional athletes. She’s been down that road, and barely recovered after the relationship crashed and burned. Gavin was a huge star for the Dodgers, that is until he gets injured and let go, traded to New Jersey Sonics. Jessica is a sports therapist for the Sonics and Gavin is sent to her to help him with his knee injury. Jessica has one rule, she doesn’t date baseball stars. But neither can deny the attraction that they both feel for each other. But neither of them are looking for anything serious, which of course leads to complications. I really enjoyed this book, I mean who doesn’t love a hot baseball player?? I know this girl does!!! Great book! This is a series, but each book can be read as a standalone.

The Heat of the Moment (The Boys of Summer #3) by Katie Rose
The Boys of Summer are back! In Katie Rose’s sweet, sparkling novel, the newest New Jersey Sonic falls for the woman who’s trying desperately to save his career.
This is the first book of the series and from this author I have read. I enjoyed this story of Gavin King, who is a professional baseball playing, working on healing after a knee surgery. He is transferred to the New Jersey Sonics. Gavin is not happy with the trade, he didn’t want to leave California, he grew up there, his life was there and now he had to move to New Jersey. Plus he is on the DL (Disable List) till he heals from surgery.
Jessica Hart is through with Baseball players, she is the Physical Therapist for the Sonics and is in charge of Gavin recover. She is the sister to 5 sports minded brothers and she thinks she knows men. She had a bad break up with a baseball player from another team and just doesn’t want to get into a relationship.
Gavin has other ideas, he thought she was gorgeous. But she knew he had dated models and she didn’t think of herself that way. Jessica’s ex wanted to talk to her and she said ok and he came to the physical therapy room and it did not go well at all, after she finally got him out of there, she locked the door and was just so mad. Someone knocked on the door and she grabbed a weight in case he came back but it was Gavin. Well let me just say it was hot!! The title of the book, The Heat of the Moment, is spot on!! I thought the author did an awesome job with that little bit.
I will have to say I personally loved reading this story. I love baseball, and loved how this story went and how it developed. I definitely liked both of them. I thought Gavin seemed more mature for his age and really tried to think things out and Jessica needed to come out of her shell and be the woman that she is. I enjoy this story and have only good things to say, I really like the way Katie Rose writes and can’t wait to read more of her books.
