4.25/5. They’re all fucking children. I swear to fuck. They all need to grow up and act like adults. Over half of their issues and drama would be gone, leaving room for the plot that keeps getting plottier. Like, these are more like YA characters mentally, and that throws the whole vibe off. And I love the WHOLE character lineup (minus Fernila—and Forex—bc she oozes bad energy and it’s catching my radar still), but everyone being irrational and fucking moody all the time doesn’t really lend to seeing any of them shine. At least some new ones came into the picture that aren’t children doning their best from the dress-up box for games they don’t know how to play. It’s just frustrating as shit, ya know? You tell me they’re grown-grown, yet they act like 18 year-old numpties. Ugh. Other than that, I can’t wait to see if all my guesses are right, and the story is still good if you overlook everyone being their own version of a melodramatic thespian on the tail end of their career. The trilogy is getting better as it plods along and that’s always a good thing. Maybe it’s the lack of anyone knowing how to communicate that’s really bothering me? Idk. I’m enjoying it for what it is.

This book was such a great addition to the series. We are able to dive into Tor and Pel's relationship a lot more and see how they function together. I absolutely loved that Tor was taking up a teacher role when it came to Pel who had absolutely no experience before this. I also adored that Tor was so patient with him! In this book, we also get to see more of the underlying problem with the Exiles and we get to see the high king again. There were so many twists and turns in this book, it had me at the edge of my seat and I NEED the next book immediately! I am in love with this world and the characters.

It was fun returning to this series and seeing more from Princes Pel and Tor.
It's the usual chaos and drama, insecurities and jealousies, and tons of family conflict.
I liked how in this book the romance bond is in place from the start, so we see how cute they are together, but they are also very melodramatic and like their inner monologues.
The political stakes were definitely increased in this one and more action, i liked their perseverance, and there communication is getting a little better with each book.
Looking forward to seeing the conclusion.

Even though I paused often, I finished this in a reasonable amount of time because I did so much skimming. Pel at one point rehashes the entire plot up to that point. Just. So. Much. Repetition.
Anyway. You should know that this one also ends mid-plot.
While there are elements of good storytelling throughout, there is a real need for a good editor, and so I am unlikely to bother with book 3.

A book so good I wanted to reach into the pages and shake some people!
I firmly believe that outside of circumstances when a book makes you genuinely bad angry, wanting to shake/slap upside the head characters is a good sign. I know that sounds weird, but for me it means I’m invested in those characters and they’ve worked their way into my heart. To say I wanted to shake some people in this book is possibly an understatement. If Varex were real I probably would have ended up done for treason because oh my good lord that boy needs to start acting like a twin and fast. Poor Tor was just so abandoned by him. Absolutely he has Pel (and he really, really does have Pel in his corner) but this is his TWIN for goodness sake. He deserves better. The book had a great ongoing plot and I’ve got all kinds of theories percolating in the back of my mind. That’s what I really love about Ellie’s books - you get characters you love (or love to hate lol) but also just a really solid background plot that keeps you hooked. I will admit, I may have wanted to throw my phone when the third act disaster happened but it didn’t last too long, so I was able cope (even if I was very upset at the time). I have to say, it’s not often I want to read books that end in cliffhangers but I will always be willing to with authors I love and Ellie is one of the authors I’m willing to sacrifice my sanity for. I can’t wait for book three!

“There’s no limit to how ridiculous I will be for you.”
The Prince's Sacrifice deepens the mystery and political intrigue started in book 1 of the trilogy. And of course, continues Pelun and Torex's unlikely romance. Although Tor initially sought Pel out "because he was the most unsuitable prince in the entirety of the United Realms", he quickly realized in book 1 that Pel had a heart of gold (true love began when Pel punched him in the face 😆). In book 2 they finally tendril and discover that they are very compatible, which paves the way for more epic romance. They're very cute together and their bond keeps me coming back for more!
Tor’s face lit up, showing that smile Pel only saw directed at him. Pel was pretty sure he was going to wind up heartbroken, but he’d take every moment with Tor he could get. It would be worth it. Pel would make sure of it.
Although Tor and Pel are on different levels of magical ability and social importance, they both understand feeling inadequate. Tor's twin brother is the High King, and Pel has siblings who are considerably more magically gifted than he is. At its heart, the book is about siblings. Most of the time we love them, some of the time we can't stand them... it's complicated. Pel's relationship with his brother and sister has been strained for awhile, and they seem to have an unspoken understanding that they will mutually ignore past resentments. They all have their secrets to keep, having grown up with a father who didn't exactly inspire familial warmth and trust. Tor, in contrast, had a wonderful relationship with his brother growing up. But every time Tor attempts to rekindle any sense of the fun they once shared, Varex shuts him down. It's as though Varex's unable to hear Tor, and unable to see the brother he once knew. I enjoyed reading the sibling relationships evolve over the course of the book.
They were here right now, connected body and magic, and Tor had never wanted anything more. He wanted to keep this man forever, wanted to blend their lives together, wanted to have this blissful, beautiful connection every day of his life.
I'm glad to see book 3 is out in August, but August is still too far away! I really prefer not to read series about the same couple because I'm just too impatient 😭. Thankfully the wait for book 2 wasn't too long and I still remembered who everyone was while reading this book. Overall it was a great, entertaining read. The plot could've been tightened up in a few areas, and some of the upcoming plot points were signalled a bit too blatantly for my liking, but those are minor critiques. I look forward to book 3!

In this second installment in the Princely Plans series, Tor and Pel were quelling violence and saving people from natural and political disasters, while being sexy babes at the mercy of the kind of new love that had some big heartfelt moments, but also some angsty fumbles that very much t e s t e d ME!

I knew it was coming though, but the ohhhh noooooo whyyyyy still burned!
Because after chilling through much of this soothing, heart-eyes, loving-up fantasy, the nightmare turn of events made my jaw drop and my stomach queasy with how hard the 3rd act gut punch hit.
I felt for them both because ALL OF THAT hurt my feelings.
The ending action was a dynamic clstrfk of betrayal and deadly machinations, and because Tor's a hero through and through,
his danger-point heroics saved important lives but hurt his own.
Pel then became Tor's steadfast protector
and saved his man right back!

This is 100% a series that I should be binge reading, because I'm dying for The Prince's Fealty (Princely Plans Book 3) AFTER THAT ENDING, and I'm very sad it's not out yet!

BUT ALSO
I need Varex to get it together and TWIN soooooo fkn hard in Book 3,
because EVERYONE did Tor dirty,
and sure he's got Pel,
but he's been missing his bro for over 600 pages
and I'm gonna need the High King to come correct and close this story out with some big apologetic feels!
Ahhh I can't wait to see how this ends! I'm excited for a wild conclusion to my now favourite Ellie Ash series!

Completely in love with these characters and this magical world.
The first 30% was perhaps a bit slow, continuing the cozy vibe and the relationship building from book one. But I knew Ellie Ash was gonna bring in all the action and drama and tension after that slow build-up, and I’ll now feel absolutely empty until the final installment comes out. I need Pel and Tor’s HEA.
Even though I always end up enjoying her books, I wouldn’t recommend them if you don’t like lengthy inner monologues. The writing style is a tad… exhausting at times, and the smut, especially in the beginning, was more sex ed than it was sexy.
I already pointed this out in the first book so I know I’m a bit of a broken record, but it’s like I forget that I don’t like the style since the story ends up being so great.
And the spice does get better, less ‘educational’, but there’s no escaping the looooong chapters where the MCs are literally just thinking.
But Brooke, why give it 5 stars then? The magical vibes, man.
Even with the occasional boring moment, I’m loving this series, flaws and all, and am hoping part three, The Prince’s Fealty comes soon.

THE PRINCE'S SACRIFICE is the second book in the Princely Plans trilogy, and I can't get my grubby hands on these stories quickly enough. It does need to be read after The Prince's Charm as it follows on from that, but, being as I also gave that one five stars, I can't see it being a problem.
Anyway, as already mentioned, we are back in Tond with Pelun and Torex. They do need to communicate a little better (even though it helps the story move along), but they are young and in a new relationship, so I'm giving them some slack. They also have a lot else thrown at them, exiles coming back over the mountain, a violent raid, landslides, magical comas... it's all going on. Not only that, but they still have to convince Torex's brother, who also just happens to be High King, that Torex and Pelun belong together. And breathe...
There is plenty of romance and s3xy scenes, but other action too. I loved how Tor helps so many people, and the characters that are loyal to both him and Pel. Secrets from book one are sorted out, but there's still a lot left open for The Prince's Fealty WHICH I CAN'T WAIT FOR!!!
Another stunner from Ellie Ash that I cannot recommend highly enough. I absolutely adore this author and her outstanding stories.

Ellie Ash is a newer author to me. I wasn't sure about going in with this series, but this year I said I was going to try different story lines and genres, and I am so glad I did. I read the first one and loved it. The High King, who in the first book told his brother it was a good idea to marry him off, would be the best thing for their family and the kingdom. It has become the time that he needs. It is time to pretend to his brother that it is the best plan he has ever made. All he needs to do now is get the most wrong people out there to join in on his plan. What will it take for him to convince Pel that his plan for them to bond is the best plan to prove something to his brother? Tor and Pel find themselves not only making this plan go through but also planning to talk to the exiles that had been banished onto the land on the other side of the mountain. Being pulled away from what they had started first to follow through with this makes what they planned with themselves and talking to his brother on hold. I have to say, some of these men could be annoying lol. Even with that, I found I really loved this series and the storyline. I will say I need to find out what happens next lol.

Tor and Pel learn more about each other and what is happening in their world
Reading this book makes it hard to believe that Ellie Ash has not been writing books for decades because it is so well polished. Tor and Pel have mostly had problems within their relationship up till now and they need that to fall back on as a great number of outside influences are now at work in this fictional world. Ms Ash has been plotting a whole lot that is beginning to become evident in this middle part of this trilogy. I love the relationship between Tor and Pel and how they both are influencing each other in mostly positive ways. It would have been easy for these two princes to be caricatures of the shy one and the playboy one, but they have such depth to them that they practically jump off the page.
They are also surrounded by interesting characters and it is easy to see how much thought Ms Ash has put into everything involved with this novel.
The plot is convoluted in all the best ways and I am constantly surprised by it and as I read so many books that is actually really hard to do. I had been so immersed in this book that when I finished it I had to reorient myself to real life. That is a sign of good writing as far as I am concerned. It ends with a bit of a cliffhanger, but the next book is (hopefully) coming soon so I will be okay. Can’t wait though!

A series of inimical events result in a horrific choice that may sever the relationship forever.
This adult gay fantasy romance (romantasy) picks up where “The Prince’s Charm” leaves off and takes off on a breathtaking adventure. I love seeing Tor show his true strength and love and ached for the disappointments and pain he endures. I had suspected the undermining that was the cause of his original downfall, and I look forward to seeing the villain get his comeuppance. The love affair between Tor and Pel is tested and I was relieved to see each man listen to his heart, but frustrated that the story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger because I am an impatient person, lol. I am in awe that this author continues to pen such inventive and fun stories in such an expeditious fashion, and I anxiously await the release of the next story in the series.

This book is better and more exciting than Book #1! Of course, since it's a saga, the story will continue in Book #2, the end of the trilogy. I can't wait! There's intrigue, nail-biting action, and a treasonous conspiracy. Although it's a cliffhanger, it's still a satisfying book. But, it isn't a standalone; you must have read Book #1 beforehand. It's definitely not a HEA, and I wonder if it's even a HFN. But, don't let that deter you from reading this. The series only keeps getting better and is worthy of your time.

The Prince’s Sacrifice was a great addition to the series, raising the stakes in every way by blending political intrigue, danger, and romance into a compelling continuation of Tor and Pel’s story. What began as an unlikely connection in the first book deepens here as both men fight for a future together while facing mounting opposition from all sides.
I loved seeing Tor and Pel’s relationship develop beyond the initial attraction. Their feelings for each other feel genuine and hard-earned, especially as they navigate royal expectations, family pressures, and increasingly dangerous threats. The emotional moments hit just as strongly as the action, and there were several points where I was desperately hoping these two would finally catch a break.
The fantasy world continues to expand with political tensions, betrayals, and looming conflict that kept me fully invested. Just when things seem to be moving in the right direction, the story delivers twists that left me anxious for the characters and eager to see what happens next.

The Prince’s Sacrifice picks up where The Prince’s Charm ends. You need to read that one first to understand what is going on. Pel and Tor are closer now and are preparing to travel to convince High King Varex to allow them to bond. Pel is still struggling with bonding with the High Prince of the United Realms. He keeps thinking something will prevent it. It could also be a moot point when the exiles’ raids turn deadly. Tor and Pel know they must prevent a war.
Lies and misrepresentations abound in this one. Tor and Pel work great together but Pel’s father, the King, refuses to stand down, leading to some of those lies and more. His actions also lead to the danger. The two Princes have some loyal guards on their side and Pel’s determination to help save the day. But are they enough? You will need to read the book to find out. This one is perfect for those of us who love MM fantasy romance with danger and court intrigue. The next one cannot come fast enough.

I loved it! My favorite thing was the evolving relationship between Pel and Tor. It isn’t perfect just because they are together, it they both work at it, they persevere, they try to understand each other and accept each other’s weaknesses and strengths. It was so good! Yes, the intrigue is fantastic, and I’m torn about what ruler I dislike more at the moment, because I’m not happy with either the High King or king Forex, but hopefully the next book fixes how much I dislike them at the moment. I loved the plotting, and even though some things were pretty obvious, the characters are well written, and their obliviousness is completely understandable, because communication isn’t their forte, and too much hurt and misunderstandings can make a mess of things. But it was a really enjoyable read, and I can’t wait to read their HEA!

Tor & Pel are back and totally have this relationship thing figured out... mostly. As they plan to travel back to Alossia for Pel to meet Tor's twin (and the High King) they are suddenly in the midst of battles, rockslides, and mysterious figures trying to undercut Tor's role as Prince.

This book wonderfully illustrates Pel & Tor are not just nobility but phenomenal leaders. I found Pel much more likeable in this book and seeing his competence and authority in directing people in times of of upheaval was genuinely impressive! The additional mini POVs were also a nice touch.
The only thing that really irked me in this book is that Tor again called his sister-in-law a shrew. This is just such a yikes term in general but having a protagonist use it and not get called out is pretty misogynistic.

The Prince’s Sacrifice by Ellie Ash is the second installment in her Princely Plans series. This book is not intended as a standalone and I think readers would really benefit from reading the marvelous, slow burn, enemies-to-lovers story of how Tor and Pel get together in book one before reading this. Book two picks up almost immediately after the first ends and continues with the split narrative where most of the action unfolds in third person from either Pel or Tor’s perspective.
I found The Prince’s Sacrifice to be a stunning addition to the series. I adored the balance of intimacy and action and drama. There were a lot of moving pieces, but nothing felt rushed or half-baked.

Impatiently waiting for the next book
The first book was good and cute, I loved the frenemies to lovers dynamic between the two and was really curious how this story would span 3 books.
I was pleasantly surprised by the turn jn the story and was reading as fast as I could because I wanted to know what was going to happen next so badly!!
Like most couples Pel and Tor definitely have their issues and I like that the author doesn't make Pel a "blindly forgive him because I love him" type of character and makes them have conversations explaining themselves, but Pel's unwillingness to just TALK to the people in his life and stop assuming that he knows all there is to know about a person is going drive me nuts if it continues into the 3rd book.
I'm sorry for even having a millisecond of doubt about how this story could be good~ I am going to be counting down the days until the 3rd book is released.🥺

After a slowish start, the story exploded into life. Pel and Tor are off on an epic adventure. From battles in the mountains to escapes and a meeting with the High King. There are confrontations, subterfuge, betrayal and so much magic. Through it all Pel and Tor's romance blossoms as they get to know and explore each other. I loved how tender and patient Tor was and how Pel was so excited to experiment.
Ellie's world building is superb and the even the side characters feel fully formed. There were twists and turns that I was definitely not expecting. At times I couldn't read fast enough, because I really wanted to know what would happen next and then I'd try to slow down as I never wanted to finish. I think I might need to lie down now for a bit and then calculate how many days I need to wait for the finale.

I must admit that I struggled a bit at first. After the main characters finally got together, I was hoping for some "spicy" scenes. Sadly, the scenes we got felt more like a sex education class to me (I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but I don't mean to be mean; it’s just genuinely how I felt at times). Fortunately, that resolved itself quickly enough before I lost interest, and after that, we finally got some action. I don't mean in the bedroom 😜, but rather plot-wise. While book one mainly focused on building the relationship between Tor and Pel, we now get more action, adventure, lies, and conspiracy, which I really liked. Now, my only problem is that I have to wait until August for book three to come out.

10000000% much better than the first book. Every qualm or nitpick I had for the first book was resolved in this one.
It's abundantly clear how much care the two main characters have for one another, even if they don't communicate very well.
It was just so nice to let us as readers have those moments in this book where Pel, but mainly Tor had their moments of clearing their head and understanding things they did wrong. This book rounded Tor's character out a lot more and made me like him a lot more compared to book one.
The only thing that sucks.... is that I have to wait for the next one!!!!

Absolutely FANTASTIC
I’m obsessed with this series!!! This world, these characters, oh my goodness! This book had me crying! I felt every emotion they did, I went through those rollercoasters with them, and I’m perched at the top right before the grand finale! I cannot wait for the third book (pre-ordered!), and I’m so excited for what is to come. I really love Pel and Tor, as well as all the other characters involved. The writing is amazing, the characters are amazing, the plot is enthralling,I don’t remember a single typo, 10/10 no notes. This book series deserves every star it can get. If you’re hesitating at all, don’t! Go read the first one. You’re in for such a treat!

This entry to the series has more political intrigue and more romance as Pelun and Tores solidify their relationship in secret while trying to help the people of Tond.
Communication is touch and go, as Pel and Tor are honest with each other at times but still keeping things from being said out loud. The plotline with the exiles and the possible cracks in how the realms are navigating peace becomes more relevant. I enjoyed the times where it was just Pel and Tor on page together, and there is a slow build to the overall plot which ramps up in the last part of the book. I swear, my heart nearly stopped there at one time.
I loved the ending of the first book, and this one starts the next day.
In the beginning, we get to see Tor and Pel strengthening their relationship, and I loved that part because... communication is beautiful, and the development was so, so sweet.
And then the action started, and it was action nonstop. And it was so well done.
The pacing of this series is great, and the storyline is amazing.
And the characters are so loveable.
Although I was really angry with Varex. How could he ... hopefully, he learned from his mistakes

There's really a lot to like about this book. It's really done a good job of building on the previous book and developing the conflicts that will (hopefully) be resolved in the third book. There's also a good bit that has been resolved here, as well, so that there's not as much middle book syndrome as there sometimes is. Prince Pelun, especially, is developing well as a character, more willing to stand up for himself in royal situations. For some reason, this book didn't seem to have the vibrancy that I've seen with the author's other works. I definitely want to see how the story plays out, and am excited to see more, but somehow it just fell short of what I wanted.

There's something about the stories that this author weaves that just makes you happy but this one takes a turn into something that brings the drama and stress. Tor and Pel don't get to stay in the happy bubble they've made for themselves.
Tor's big secret is revealed and Pel's reaction is too be expected. But how Pel overcomes that was so sweet and mature to read. Honestly who will have tou banging your head against a wall is the king. He is such a bad brother that he legitimately becomes a bad monarch and father because of it. Truly epic levels of lameness and the groveling better be unprecedented in the next book.

This middle book in this ongoing saga finds our princes smitten with one another and looking for a way to make sure that they can marry. Pel and Tor have had a chance to get to know one another and they see a future together. But theirs is not the final say so about their future. But in this story nothing is going to proceed without drama. They have to deal with challenges both from within their families and without and it keeps this story moving. But it is not done yet so although we get more information about what is going on we don't get to see how things resolve, and the princes don't get their happily ever after just yet. Can't wait to get to book three.

I LOVED book two in this great series. Ellie Ash knows how to bring characters and worlds to life. The second book picks up where #1 ended. Pel and Tor are finding out new things about each other and are ready to commit to each other. But…..first we have some angst with the “exiles” that was just amazingly written. Then we have some more angst with Tor’s family. We learn more about what is really going on but the overall resolution and HEA will happen in book #3. I love these two MC’s more and more. I also want to “throat punch” some other people. LOL. Can’t wait for book 3. I highly recommend this book. Enjoy!

4.5 stars Woah! The love gets deeper, the politics get scarier, and the true miscommunication in these families starts to come to light. There are conspiracies (the reader has more pieces than the characters) but I still have questions. I am going to struggle waiting for the third book in this trilogy because I cannot wait to see Per and Tor get their hard-earned HEA and for all the truths to come to life.
After reading all the books from Ellie Ash so far, I have her on my must- read for a mm fantasy romance and will await the next one with bated breath.
