Authors have two favorite words. The End.
He spent the winter reading every one of her love stories. She's been listening to his heartbreak in her favorite three-chord country song for years — long before he showed up behind the bar at the local watering hole.

Seraphina Sinclair has written sixty-one romance novels. All those happily-ever-afters for her characters—and never one for herself.

In real life she's been doing just fine on her own, thank you very much, raising her son in their cliffside home above the Pacific and leaving her heart safely out of the equation. Until her son asks the brooding, beautiful bartender for guitar lessons, and suddenly Hunter Sloan is in her house every Thursday at four-thirty, and Seraphina's muses are working overtime. The man is an absolute problem.

Hunter Sloan came to Willet Cove to disappear. After a bitter divorce, he gave up Nashville and took a job behind the bar at the local pub, telling himself a quieter life was what he needed. He was supposed to heal, write some songs, and figure out what came next. He wasn't supposed to fall for a woman who writes romances for a living and hasn't let anyone close in years. He definitely wasn't supposed to spend an entire winter reading all sixty of her novels alone in a cottage by the sea.

For a year they've been circling each other, neither of them brave enough to close the distance.

Luckily, Seraphina's son and his band of determined teenage matchmakers have other ideas.

The fourth book in the beloved Parent App series, Second Song is a slow-burn, small-town romance about two people who found each other's art before they found each other — and what happens when you fall for the man who wrote your favorite song.

Turns out Seraphina's two favorite words might not be The End after all. They might just be The Beginning.

Tess Thompson Romance...hometowns and heartstrings.

Tess Thompson is the USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author of contemporary and historical Romantic Women’s Fiction with over 60 published titles. When asked to describe her books, she could never figure out what to say that would perfectly sum them up until she landed on, Hometowns and Heartstrings.

She’s married to her prince, Best Husband Ever, and is the mother of their blended family of four kids and five cats. Best Husband Ever is seventeen months younger, which qualifies Tess as a Cougar, a title she wears proudly. Her Bonus Sons are young adults with pretty hair and big brains like their dad. Daughters, better known as Princess One and Two, are teenagers who make their mama proud because they’re kind. They’re also smart, but a mother shouldn’t brag.

Tess loves lazy afternoons watching football, hanging out on the back patio with Best Husband Ever, reading in bed, binge-watching television series, red wine, strong coffee and walks on crisp autumn days. She laughs a little too loudly, never knows what to make for dinner, looks ridiculous kickboxing in an attempt to combat her muffin top, and always complains about the
rain even though she chose to live in Seattle.

She’s proud to have grown up in a small town like the ones in her novels. After graduating from the University of Southern California Drama School, she had hopes of becoming an actress but was called instead to writing fiction. She’s grateful to spend most days in her office matchmaking her characters while her favorite cat Mittens (shhh…don’t tell the others) sleeps on the desk.

Book 4 was a let down. It's Seraphina, the author, next in line for a love interest. The kids attempts at matchmaking as in past books wasn't necessary here. It's Hunter (with Tyler's subtle help) who makes the approach with Seraphina. As far as a romance this book lacked any real sparkle or heat between them. It's more of a yearning from Hunter for a family that played the biggest part of their connection. It wasn't until near the very end that Seraphena thinks to herself "It was time to give her heart and body to the man...".  The story then immediately moves to their outing later that night. I'm thinking SERIOUSLY? After 283 pages that's all we get?!? Grrrr....Frustrating.

All the emotion in this story comes from Hunter and his longing to be loved and belong to a family and from Seraphina's son Tyler who desperately wanted the love and attention of a dad. Seraphina's focus was on her writing career. Tyler acted more her parent. Needless to say, I didn't really care for Seraphina.

I liked all the kids and their continued close bond. As well as Hunter and Tyler's interactions. All the rave reviews for this book however has me stumped. It's like I read a different book.

Because Hunter was involved in country music and song writing it plays a big part of this story. Some readers may enjoy that. Me not so much.

Delphine's turn is next. She'll be a stubborn matchmaking hard sell if her attitude here is anything to go by. Hoping book 5 picks up the momentum.

This is truly a charming romance. Seraphina and Hunter's story is funny, cute, sweet, heartwarming, spicy and powerfully emotional. This romance had all up in my Feels. From chuckling, to getting all misty eyed, to turning sappy & swoony this wonderful read took my heart for a delightful spin.

How can this series just keep getting better and better? By this point in the series I am wishing there were more kids and more single moms so these stories would never end. Second Song is the fourth book in The Parent App series and it is so sweet and romantic I couldn’t put it down.

Seraphina and Hunter have been making surreptitious eyes at each other in the pub since he moved to Willet Cove a year ago but neither has had the courage to say anything. When their teenage matchmaker children came up with their plan to find true love for their moms and secretly signed them up for a dating app, all 5 of the moms were shocked, but little by little the plan has worked and Gillian, Lila and Esme actually have their happy-ever-afters. Maybe not all strictly due to the app, but they had the courage to let go and look ahead to a possible future. Seraphina was initially very resistant and reluctant – she’s a successful romance author and has done just fine raising her son Tyler on her own, doesn’t need any help – but lately she’s been feeling lonely and alone, thinking about how it might feel to have a partner to share good and bad with, work-work-work doesn’t have the appeal it once did, and there’s a sadness that she can write all those happy endings but doesn’t have her own. Plus there’s Hunter. There’s just something about him that draws her in, and even though neither of them has made a move, her feelings are getting stronger.

Everyone knows Hunter was a well-known songwriter in Nashville and came to Willet Cove for a quiet life. But there is a lot more that happened in his life and caused him to make this move than anyone knows. Just as Seraphina has sometimes found it hard to write her books, Hunter has been unable to find the inspiration he needs to start writing again. But Seraphina is on his mind more and more.

The matchmaking crew is still hard at work even if they pretend they’re not. Tyler asks Hunter to give him guitar lessons and then just happens to be delayed at baseball practice so that Hunter and Seraphina are alone. The sparks have been there for a long time and there might be a little flame next.

Second Song will just capture your heart. Hunter and Seraphina are amazingly compatible and the points of coincidence author Tess Thompson puts into the story are charming: 61 hit songs for him, 61 books for her, he calls his guitar Georgia and that was her mother’s name, her father listened to albums his father played guitar on. So sweet, and even more sweet when he writes a song with the title ‘Or Something Like That Anyway’ which is what she says after saying something too personal. Hunter signs up for the dating app just to see her profile, and Robbie determines their compatibility rating is 99%. Well, we already knew that, didn’t we?

Of course everything isn’t sweet and light. Hunter’s ex-wife is hateful and vindictive and spreads lies not caring who she hurts or what she destroys. Seraphina struggles with the past and wonders if she’s made the right choices, especially when she realizes just how badly Tyler wants a father, someone who cares for him the way he sees the other dads feel and act with their children. And Hunter could be that someone if they can overcome the obstacles in their way. I was at first surprised but then impressed and pleased that Seraphina and Hunter had so many of their serious conversations while Tyler was present, but I realized this made them a perfect family.

I received an advance copy of Second Song from the author as part of her Tessers Review Crewsters and loved it. As always, it was a joy to see how these families have grown and changed but are still as close-knit as ever, always there when needed. This entire series is tender, funny, just the right amount of spicy, and always leaves me satisfied. I can’t wait for the next book and everything else Tess Thompson writes. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

I am in such a happy place today. I just finished the book Second Song by Tess Thompson. It is the fourth book in her The Parent App series. I have read all of the books so far and was immediately drawn in with the premise of the series. There are five moms whose children are starting school for the first time. A coffee gathering was organized for the mothers that first morning. Five of the moms quickly become fast friends and lean on each other for support. They call themselves sisters.

Several years down the line their oldest children decide their mothers should fall in love and get married again. They put profiles online for their mothers before they tell them what they are doing. Needless to say, the moms were not happy about the situation. Three of them have gotten married so far.

Second Song is about Seraphina. She has one son and is a very well known and popular romance author. She works hard and has written sixty-one novels so far. I love a good book about an author. Part of this book is about music and has a visit to the Country Music City of Nashville, Tennessee. I love country music and have been to Nashville many times. This book hit so many good points for me.

Second Song has so much happening that you just can’t be bored. I could never wait to get back to it. It was heartwarming and made me cry at least a few tears several times during the reading of this book. It truly is a must read. The whole series is!

If you love clean romance and heartwarming family stories about everyday struggles, then this book and series is for you. I highly recommend The Parent App series and of all the books that I’ve read so far in the series, I think that Second Song is my favorite one. These are a must have for your nightstand. Until next time… Happy Reading!

Second Song (The Parent App Book 4)
By: Tess Thompson

5 Stars

I had a netflix binge and just finished watching the show Nashville recently. This book couldn't have come at a better time. I think watching the show, then reading this book, helped me love it even more. Definitely, appreciate it more. Through out this series a few tidbits have arisen in concerns to Seraphina and Hunter and finally this is all about them. Seraphina is a single mom to Tyler and a famous author. Hunter is the hunky bartender with a past full of hurt and music. A songwriter that fled Nashville to heal his heart. Even though they were in each other's orbit, they never acted until the kids got involved.

Reason one for why I loved this book was Seraphina and Hunter, of course. You meet them in small bits throughout, but this was them and they were beautiful. Reason two..well let's just say Alabama. Being an Alabama girl myself, I had a little prideful Roll Tide come out, haha. Reason three was just the characters. The kids as always are so hard not to completely adore. Seraphina reminds me of our "own" famous author a bit. Hunter, Wes, Margaret, and Ivy. All bring such magic and beauty to these pages. The kids, still, crack me up! This was such an easy book to fall in love with. I loved this book and am so pleased to be able to read it and adore it, or something like that anway.

I have been waiting for Hunter and Seraphina to find their happy ending since the first book and this book didn’t disappoint. Hunter is trying to find his way back to writing songs after his divorce, but a year later and he still can’t find his muse. Seraphina has been a single mom since her son’s biological father left her right after finding out she was pregnant. When she makes a comment to Hunter, the rest falls into place and he finally is unlocked. Her son asking Hunter to teach him how to play the guitar was the push they needed to spend time together and finally admit they liked each other.

I adored Hunter’s relationship with her son and how he fell into the dad roll naturally. Their relationship was separate and special and they each filled a roll for the other that they didn’t realize they needed. Seraphina allowed them to grow close and not intervene or act like there was no room for Hunter in their life.

Just when things are going well, his ex starts causing trouble. I loved how protective Seraphina was of Hunter, which he never truly had but needed. His reaction when her comments are revealed was fabulous. I loved this book so much. While I have liked all of the books in the series, this one is going to be hard to beat, in my opinion. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

Seraphina Sinclair and Hunter Sloan were meant to be together. It wasn’t just because of the instant attraction or the love they had for each other. It was because of hints and things that happened as they started to learn about each other, things that showed they had really been intertwined from the start. Nothing was going to stop them, not the ex-wife, the paparazzi, the publishing company, or anything else. They were to be together, all three of them, well 4 if you count the surprise that happens at the end.

I could write so much more about the plot, but I don’t want to ruin it at all because this book is so good. It is another one of those can’t put down until you read from cover to cover books. So, make sure you have enough time. This is the PERFECT spring/summer romance book!! The characters, the plot, the little things, her dad and so much more. I will have to admit I did shed a few tears a couple of times because it just tugged at my heart. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next one in the series.

Thanks to 1852 Media and the author for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Hunter Sloan's mother walked away when he was 10yr old & his musician dad was too busy to give him much attention. Thankfully neighbours Wes & Margaret took him in & became family. Later his wife left him for another man & he's again struggling with abandonment. The Willet Grove teens are back in action, introducing him to famous author Seraphina. Hunter is a well known music composer, yet he kindly teaches young Tyler to play the guitar. He also steps up & helps Tyler practice his driving skills. The friendship between Seraphina & Hunter soon grows to more, much to Tyler's delight. I enjoyed seeing Hunter get back to music composition. The author did a great job writing some lyrics. Along with these, I enjoy following along with music mentioned in the book, on Spotify. Ivy is a famous music artist, and she has showcased Hunter's songs many times. It was good to see their strong friendship. A favourite quote stated between Hunter & Seraphina: " We didn't teach each other to stay. We taught each other how to open our hearts so we knew what we were staying for."
Another engaging romance in this good series.

A story about a song writer and a single mother author who find each other later in life and the way writing and music weave them together.

Seraphina and Hunter move fast with each other, despite having circled each other in their small town for a year. After one date they're declaring how important the other is to them, and earnestly explaining how showing up for Seraphina's son at his baseball game is important, in these deep conversations that made me a little uncomfortable. I think I would have preferred such depth happening after Serpahina and Hunter had had a few more dates, and worked a little slower at their relationship. The hastiness continued the whole way through the book and its just not my favourite storyline.

I think its because of how fast it moved, that I then struggled to connect with the book. There were poignant beautiful moments, the side characters of Seraphinas friends I liked, I loved Ivy too but I didnt sink in and feel the goodness as deeply as sometimes because the premise of the book just hadn't resonated with me from the start.

Second Song is fantastic. I could not get enough of this one. This is book 4 in the Parent App series and I'm so in love with everything Tess Thompson brings to the pages with this series. This is Seraphina and Hunter's book. Seraphina is an author and single mom who feels like she's loosing her touch. Hunter is the mysterious bartender who is trying to start over and find his muse again. There is this pull between Hunter and Seraphina that I love so much. They fit together and bring out the best in each other. Hunter is a song writer who find his muse again with Seraphina. I love hiw supportive they are of each other even as Hunter's ex is trying to stir things up. Seraphina is just so lovely and I love how her female gang just surrounds each other when they need it. Seraphina and Hunter are everything. I cannot wait for next book in this series. I love the Parent App series so much. You need to binge this series and one click this one today.

This book was a really sweet and over all good read. It had a lot of emotion in the writing. Seraphina and Hunter were absolutely and 100% meant to be together. They are so cute and so sweet when they interact with each other. My heart broke for Hunter and his struggle with abandonment. I just wanted to wrap him in a hug at so many points in the story. I thought it was so heartwarming how Seraphina’s son Tyler set up a dating profile for her and worked to get her a relationship. Hunter may not have been looking for a relationship but what he got was much more than an instalust moment. Hunter and Seraphina’s connection and chemistry cannot be denied, as it’s obviously there from the start. But things went way beyond that with these two. It was endearing how they were willing to go in against anything in their path to be together. I could not put this book down. I was so invested in their story that I kept turning page after page to see where things would go.

Seraphina is a successful author and the mother of a teenage boy who has never known his father. Hunter is a songwriter who has been unable to write since his wife left him in a very public break up. As Hunter and Seraphina begin to get to know each other, they begin to develop a friendship. There are many twists and turns for both of them as they try to determine if their friendship will become more or just stay as a friendship. Seraphina has a great relationship with several friends who have been left with children as she has been. These children got together and put their mothers on a dating app and are now happy as the mothers find their mates and become families. This whole series has been wonderful and the stories are so touching. I like that Hunter reads all of Seraphina’s books and really likes them. And that Tyler, her son, makes a great connection with Hunter. Some really great characters in this book.

Maneuvering thru life as a single parent can be a challenge. You put your child first and everything you do is for them. Finding your tribe makes it easier. Romance is so far from your mind, but attraction still exists, even if it's only a dream.

Seraphina has given up on love, she has noticed the handsome barkeep but doubts he feels the same. She just wants to take care of her son. This son, however has a trick up his sleeve.

Hunter Sloan has a past, he is here to heal with emotional wounds and keep busy. when Tyler asks for guitar lessons he agrees, thinking that it will just be something else to keep him busy.

These 2 realize they are both smitten very quickly. both have reputations to keep and Seraphina can't afford to jeopardize hers, as her readers look up to her. Can she figure it all out before her heart falls too hard?

I loved this book. It had just enough angst to keep you wanting more and enough cozy warmth to wrap around you as you read.

A romance that has been simmering for a while.
Author Seraphina has felt attracted to Willet Cove barman, Hunter, without fully acknowledging it to her friends. After a devastating divorce, Hunter is determined not to look for a new relationship…until he succumbs to his compulsion to check Seraphina’s profile on the online dating app her son, Tyler, and his friends set up for each of their moms. Once Hunter’s past career is revealed, the friendship with Seraphina blossoms--until Tyler takes it a step further, thereby successfully continuing the saga of the five friends and their families.
Ms Thompson can always be depended on to share thoroughly enjoyable and well-planned novels with great storylines and easy-to-read writing styles.

Hunter and Seraphina

If you've been reading this book series, you'll love this new addition to it. Hunter works as a bartender where the five women like to meet. Their children have been working to get their moms to meet men who would be good matches for them. Tyler thinks his mom, Seraphina, would be a good match with Hunter. But Hunter is not just a bartender. He's also a fairly famous Nashville country song writer. But he went through a rough divorce, and had come to Wallet Cove to recover and figure out where he should go from here. Seraphina is a romance novelist who just finished her 61st book and she and her son come to the restaurant where Hunter works to celebrate. Tyler asks Hunter to give him guitar lessons and Hunter agrees, mostly so he can get to know Seraphina better. Their love story kept me up all night reading! I loved it!

Second Song is the forth book in this series about single Mom's raising their kids. They are a close family and their kids take it upon themselves to find matches for their Mom's.

This book is about Seraphina and Hunter. Seraphina is a best selling author with one son named Tyler. Hunter is a song writer who lost his mojo for song writing after a bad divorce. Tyler decides to set up guitar lessons to crate a spark between his Mom and Hunter. This book also weaves music in with the story.

I loved this sweet story with a happy end for them. I can't wait for the next book in this series. Each have been a good easy read and doesn't disapoint.

Thank you to the Publisher for a chance to read this book. My opinions are my own.

Second Song is my favorite in The Parent App series! Seraphina, romance novelist, and Hunter, country music songwriter, spark creative writing in their respective genres. I love the country music songs that Hunter is inspired by Seraphina to write. I wish I could hear the songs with music and singing. It feels like art imitating life as Seraphina attends the Netflix movie premier made from one of her novels and then gets inspiration for her next book series after her romantic getaway with Hunter in Nashville. I am hoping for a Tess Thompson novel to movie or one of her songs to hit the country music charts! You will enjoy this fun, light, read.

I have loved every book in this Parent App series and the latest is no exception. Each book features one of 5 best friend single moms whose kids collectively decided to create dating profiles for them all in hopes of finding them new loves. Let’s just say the kids track record has been pretty successful, and that trend continues in Second Song with the story of romance author Serephina and her son Tyler, finding the missing piece of their family with bartender/songwriter Hunter. These characters are great and well-developed, hallmarks of every Tess Thompson book. There is a reason she’s one of my favorite authors.

This is the latest HEA in The Parent App series, and while the same core characters appear throughout all of the series, this is very much a standalone story of Hunter and Seraphina. I continue to really enjoy this series, which is full of wonderful characters and realistic emotions. Not all is sunshine and roses for this couple, or any couple in the series, but I love the found family dynamic of Seraphina and her friend group, as they each find their HEA. As with the other stories, the children in these books continue to play a pivotal part and add to the emotional depth and realism. Loved it.

I truly love these characters and this series. The writing is beautiful and the stories are so good that you can't stop reading. This book did not disappoint. Seraphina and Hunter are very likable and they support each other so wonderfully. Tyler is a great kid that every parent would be proud of, and I'm so impressed with how he gets along with his mom and how he encourages her. He develops a very sweet relationship with Hunter, getting the father he has always wanted. I loved the ending. I'm now impatiently waiting for the last story in this series.

It is romance writer Serafina’s Chance to look for love. She is the single mother to Tyler. Bartender Hunter seems like a likely candidate. They both have been dealt tragedies and losses in their past. Serafina’s friend group support her in her journey. Hunter deals with the aftermath of accusations from his ex-wife as he tries to build a relationship. His good friend Ivy seems like a likely candidate to record the songs, Hunter has been motivated to right. Will Serafinanbe a muse for him?
Will she use their relationship to improve her romance writing. Scandal threatens their new
Relationship

Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.

This is the fourth book in the series, where the teenage children put their moms profiles up on a dating site, without their knowledge in hopes that they find that happily ever after!
This is Hunter and Seraphinas story and one I have waited for.

Hunter was a complete mystery until this book, I loved everything about his character.
Seraphina had more layers than I thought

However, when these two came together, it was music to our ears LOL

Another fantastic installment in this series! Bring on the last book

I loved this beautiful story, it was heartwarming, touching, and tender. I love this series and the strong friendships. Seraphina and Hunter have known each other for about a year as casual acquaintances, but her son Tyler decided to play matchmaker and that is the start of a wonderful relationship. There is so much emotion that feels so real, the characters seem so real, and I loved everything about this story, even though it did bring tears to my eyes at the beauty of Hunter and his love for not just Saraphina but Tyler as well. This is a fantastic addition to a wonderful series!

Second Song may be the best book in the series - but I love them all and there's one more to come (thank goodness!).

Tess Thompson brings her characters to life, flaws and all. What I love about her books is, despite knowing the main characters will be together in the end, that she throws twists and turns in their way that are creative but believable. The author plays out all my vulnerabilities and hidden fears through her characters in such an empathetic and compassionate way that I can't help falling in love along with them.

Another great addition to The Parent App series! Two wounded people finding their way back each other. Seraphina and Hunter have had feelings for each other, but are fighting it. If Seraphina’s son Tyler has anything to do with it, they will get together and be a family. I love everything about this story! It’s an emotional story full of love, family, friendship and love. I loved it! I can’t wait for Second Edition! The last book in The Parent App series!

Songwriter and writer’s romance

The Parent App series has captured my heart and Second Song, the fourth book of series was no exception. This book features Seraphina and Hunter’s story. This couple were meant to be together. Both of them were drawn together by their own attraction and a little push of matchmaking from Seraphina’s son Tyler.
It was so heartwarming, tender romance that touches your soul and gives all the emotions and feelings. Songwriter and a famous writer- what an incredible pairing.
Not everything is just sunshine and love, they have to face the other side of fame and fight for their future.
Another perfect story.

I just can't get enough of this series! Each story makes me love the town of Willet Cove and the people in it even more. I loved the story of Seraphina and Hunter. The country music and Nashville connection made it even better as I am a fan of country and Nashville! The character development and storytelling in Tess Thompson's books is always top notch and this story did not disappoint. Looking forward to the next book in the series since they only seem to get better as we go.

Second Song is Seraphina and Hunter’s cute and witty story and it’s book four in The Parent App Series. I loved everything about this book from the characters to the emotions and banter than flow through this book. I smiled and I swooned as I cheered this couple on and how wonderful is it for children to push their single parents into relationships.
A beautifully written love story that touched my heart.

This is the second last of the series and I've enjoyed it immensely. But this book has got to be one of my favourites of the series, Seraphina is a romance writer with no romance in her life. Hunter is a song writer who can't write songs anymore. Thanks to her son and his band of friends, the two of them seem destined for each other but can they somehow regain what they're missing?
I'm going to be very sad when we finally have to leave Willet Cove.
