Trouble in paradise? Hali Waverly was hoping for a break, but she won’t get that lucky. A trip to a bridal expo in Orlando has Hali seeing red when a man appears out of nowhere and tries to kidnap a teenager. She reacts without thinking and manages to thwart the attempt but it’s far too close of a call. Hali assumes one fight will be all it takes, but when the man disappears, she’s left with nothing but questions. Until he shows up on St. Pete Beach and tries the same thing. Hali is outraged at his gall. There’s just one little problem. She can’t find him. He shows up when he’s on a mission and then disappears into the ether. Hali taps Gray to help her search, and the answers she gets are not what she was hoping for. It seems their current enemy might have ties to an old one, and they’re running out of time to stop him from completing his mission. St. Pete Beach is about to become even more dangerous. Hali is determined to be the one left standing in the aftermath.
Hali and Gray are engaged and planning their wedding and new tiki bar, until a kidnapper attempts to take a young woman from a Ft. Lauderdale wedding expo. Hali uses some of her witchy powers and aided by her bestie Carrie, thwart the attempted kidnapping.
Once back home on the beach and away from the kidnapper, Hali is shocked when he appears again and takes another young woman. The hunt to find the victim is longer, but they manage to locate and rescue her. Hali is on fire to end this villain and its game ON, to hunt them down.
Lots of action, fast moving and fast talking characters, supporting each other to take out an unknown villain and someone who is also evil, along with the sassy, fiery Hali and her balancing counterpart, fiancé Gray, make the community antics entertaining and fun,
Hali and Gray, their vampire pal VIN and a host of other supernaturals band together, eventually find and confront the villain and take them out and it’s an absolutely worthwhile read
I honestly think I must be having an 'off' month as a lot of my go-to series are just falling short for me at the moment. I love this series, Hali and Grey are some of my favourite characters to read about and just know that I'm going to have a great time reading their latest shenanigans. However, this book... not so much. I just wasn't a fan of the premise, and honestly, the continuation of the Grams-falling-off-the-pedestal-Hali-put-her-on-and-actually-being-a-flawed-human thread is getting a bit tiring. We know, we know!
So while this wasn't my favourite of the books, it still wasn't terrible. Like I said, I think it's mainly just my current mood coupled with some of the continuing gripes that Hali just can't let go off (or at least put aside for a book) that just made this an 'okay' read for me this month.
I'll be the first one to admit I'm really bad at writing reviews. However, I'm trying to get better at this because I know it helps the author. I'll be honest I've never read a book from Amanda or her writing as Lily that I didn't absolutely love! This book is no exception. The characters are great and the story plot is intriguing and makes you want to keep reading. I highly recommend this book and any book from this author. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Well written, alternately funny, tense, riveting; touching on a topic that I am personally very concerned about, and it's one that EVERYONE should care about. I found the confrontation scene at the Bridal Expo to be almost too realistic, both in the terror and the lack of response from everyone but Hali and Carrie. We need more sheroes and heroes.
I enjoyed this book. I love this series. This book was a great addition. There were many laugh out loud scenes with lots of snark and sarcasm which I love! Hali planning a wedding is funny as I do not see her as that type of girl. I can't wait until the next book. Love it!
A good addition to the series. The audiobooks for this series are great, I think I was initially unsure about the narrator, but she has grown on me. I think Rusty, Grey's brother, should get a spin off series. Maybe he can find his own witch. I think he is one of my favorite side characters.
Wonderful story in the series. The author has such great characters in her stories and the interactions between them is entertaining. The storytelling is always good.
The plot lines are interesting and the characters are realistic and continue to grow. I can feel the underlying suspense and feel the end of this plot is close. Do mean the end of their story though!
Gray and Hallie are amazing together. Rusty is a good guy. Hopefully he finds his forever person. The battle n with Hester is getting closer. Great read. Great series.. Excellent writer!!!
Totally enjoyed it! This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
Another good one bites the dust. Whileni figured out who the bad guy was early on, it was a hunch up until about chapter 16, the anticipation of the group working through the problem was nail biting. Until next time...
