Look, it’s ok. But I’ve read almost all of the “books” this author pumps out and they’re all repetitive and they all basically say the same thing and follow the same plot. I’m not even kidding. The husband spends months with the OW kissing, flirting, holding hands going on dates but then the the author tries to drill it into our heads that because he didn’t fuck her, it wasn’t a physical affair. THE HUSBAND ALWAYS KISSES THE OW MULTIPLE TIMES. Touches her breasts and lets the OW touch his penis “over the clothes”. You are seriously delusional and full of cope if you don’t believe that’s physical cheating. Not once do the h’s ever go through with the divorce. Not once do I genuinely feel that the husbands don’t actually blame the wife for the affair. It’s always “sorry but…”

Another repeat
Same story, different novella. I.think.i.am now getting numb. This isn't just emotional. Its physical but no actual fornication. But this was her bridesmaid best friend so it was a double whammy. Good writing but again the same story as two others of hers I read.

Betrayed by the People Who Promised Forever was about 30-year-old Natalie Brownmane and Brogan Brownmane. (I got Natalie's age from two different places: the beginning of the story said they had been together for 12 years, married for 10. Then later, Nat stated she had been with him since she was 18. So putting 12 together with 18, it comes to her being 30. His age was never given. Their job descriptions were never given either.)

Side Note: The author tried to pass this off as "Dark Romance", but it was anything but. I've read my fair share of dark romances, and this was a far cry from the real thing.
While this story had all of the usual tropes readers have come to expect from such a story, it was bland, choppy, and a bit disappointing. This author tends to tell the reader what's going on rather than allowing the characters to tell their own story. The plot was basic, but it was nothing new. It appears in 90% of all her books, so there was nothing new, nothing fresh, no surprise for the reader to discover. The author also tends to downplay how serious the affair has been. She says there was an emotional affair, when there in fact wasn't, or she would say that it was an emotional affair and not a physical affair...when in fact it was a physical affair. Her ideas of what is or isn't an affair are a bit skewed.
I can't say that this was enjoyable, because in all honesty, it was a chore to read. The FMC forgave him in such a short amount of time that it felt like she hadn't really had time to do any true healing. Perhaps it felt that way because so much of the necessary story was left out, and the reader wasn't able to participate in the healing process by reading it on page. Once again, we were told instead of shown what happened. That type of story falls flat...and this book fell flat. It only earned a one-star rating.

If you read this one, you’ve read them all. Act 1 - FMC discovers MMC’s affair with (a) a colleague or (b) a close friend of the couple. Act 2 - MMC contrition, FMC hurt & betrayed. Act 3 - therapy for everyone. Act 4 - reconciliation with the recognition that he did bad but they were both to blame. Invariably, they are both at fault for the cheating bastards’ betrayals. No. Marriages go through phases BUT THAT IS NEVER A JUSTIFICATION FOR CHEATING. And for gawds sake, it’s full blown cheating even without penetrative intercourse.

Wife finds out about her husband’s ‘affair’ in the first chapter.
She reads a couple of texts that come in on his cell phone, then digs further into the thread, which is between her husband and her best friend.
Her husband and her best friend have defiantly been having an emotional affair for the last four months. They have kissed multiple times, and like her felt her up or something, but nothing further.
The ow is continuing to pursue him, even though he’s married to her best friend, saying things like, ‘you deserve better’ etc.
It’s very clear he was reluctant and tried to set boundaries a lot, but in the end, not enough.
His wife kicks him out.
He goes to therapy, tells her everything that happened, has had no contact with the other women, besides the night when everything happened and he told her to stop messaging him, I love my wife, I am done, leave me alone.
He blocked her number because she was texting him back saying, ‘I know you don’t mean it, we have a special connection’ 😳 like wtf.
She was relentless. And, obviously he had the affair, but through the texts, you could see that she was manipulating him into thinking he was unhappy in his marriage, when (even according to him and the wife) they were going through a rough patch. Jobs too busy, had been together 10 years, stopped making each other the priority. And rather than tell his wife he was feeling invisible, disconnected, etc., he chose to change the way he felt by engaging in an inappropriate relationship with another woman.
They both went to counselling together, to work on their marriage, and found their way back to each other. Renewed their vows and a baby in the epilogue.

Did Not Sit Right with me
Husband has an affair with wife’s friend/bridesmaid. Touching,kissing,thinking about being intimate dates all that except the actual deed. Of course without being caught the assumption is it would have led to that but he was caught so he gets to claim it was never actual smex. So he does the work. Magic pill/therapy. If you’re into counseling and therapy as a major part of the plot and what ultimately saves the relationship then this is good. I just felt like this is one of those situations where the husband changed because he was caught. Would he have changed and did the right thing if he was not caught? Based on what I read I am going to have to say it is a solid no. So the therapy and counseling did not sit right with me. It seemed more like a patch job. The plot read like a formula. Cheat-get caught-get guilty-therapy-fast forward time lapses-HEA. And the epilogue where the wife confronts OW was not truly satisfying.

This was full on. No, there's no p in v. But there are other ways to be sexual without intercourse/penetration. We all understand this. Touch is physical. Kissing is physical and typically, a precursor to intercourse. Both can be as intimate as s e x.
For such a short read, I spent way too much time dissecting it. It made me ragey in parts (good job author! emotional engagement). H was tstl. Sister pissed me rtf off at one point, you'll know it.
I've read 2 other books by this author, one very similar to this. the primary difference being the OW. Here she's a friend of the wife, in the other a coworker of the husband but very similar stories.
This trope is my current version of catnip and theses stories are quick fixes. That means some things are, not glossed over but not delved into fully either.

Brogan and Natalie
I think this one was one of the worst betrayal because it was with a friend. A close friend that was in their wedding not as a guest but as a bridesmaid.
I am enjoying Poe Emerson's book but there becoming repetitive. Not so much on their plot but on their words. Fulll identical sentences and even same scenarios. In this book is the confrontation with the other woman.

Cheating = H has emotional and minor physical affair with OW (h's friend)
Grovel = h discovers affair from reading text messages on H's phone, kicks H out that night. Months later, they got to counseling, months after that she lets him back home, few more months they get back to being couple. H went to therapy, groveled with words.
It was a quick read and okay. Bonus scene has h confronting OW which was good.

4 angst stars 🤩... This one was tough to forgive the Hero because not only was he having an emotional affair with his wife's BFF but also a physical affair even though they didn't go all the way he still kissed and grabbed her tits... Plus the text messages between them didn't help him at all, especially when he said "I don't regret it". He also thought about AND wanted to go all the way with Florence but I guess 'guilt' stopped him from fucking his wife's BFF 🤷🏻♀️.

Pretty good.
I've read about half a dozen of this writer's books, and enjoyed all but one, which was just due to a personal opinion of mine that opposed the story's theme. Anyway. I like the how the writer can pack a long timeline into such a few number of pages. The writing is succinct, but pulls you in to the characters' emotions quite effectively.
My favorite part was the bonus scene - highly recommend this whole book, as well as other works by this author. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Great read
Brogan is a selfish H who chooses easy vs hard conversations with his wife. Natalie is a strong h who discovers her husband's lies on accident. Betrayal, gut punch reveal, grovel, angst, redemption. Marriage in trouble trope done well. I'm currently going down the list of books from this newer to me writer I can find and reading them.

Could be better!
While the story in itself is ok, it needs some proof reading/editing... there are gramatic errors and I am still not sure if Natalie's sister is Rori or Maya, her name changed multiple times in one chapter... for such a short story inconsistencies are really hard to overlook and I have found this with many of this authors books!

Don’t waste your time
