Zodiac Academy [Dramatized Adaptation] #6, Part 1

Fated Throne (Part 1 of 2) [Dramatized Adaptation]

Rate this book
Fate has torn us apart.

Without my sister, the world seems darker than ever before and the shadows loom thicker, rising up to answer the call of the Shadow Princess and changing the face of Solaria for good.

Now Lionel Acrux has the strength to make a move for the throne, I’m not sure how much time we have left to stop him.

Our only hope is to find the Imperial Star before he does. We made the sacrifice the stars called for and we’re paying the price for that decision so it can’t be for nothing.

But with the stars turning against us at every move, and the last light in the world seeming to fade, I’m afraid we’re almost out of time.

Hope is a dangerous thing. It’s the key to us fighting on. But it could be what destroys us in the end.

One thing is for certain, I won’t stop until I have been reunited with my other half and together we will fight to take our crowns.

A war is coming.

The throne is calling for a new monarch. And someone must answer its call.

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

umm soo.. the stars need to get it together and someone needs to catch Lionel before I do

I loved the tory and darius crumbs but we are gonna need to fix this stars issue bc I can only take sm more 😫

yall need to help darcy and orion bc why was everyone helping tory and darius get back together but not them like if I hear darcy long for orion one more time in gonna jump in there and yell at them myself also tory beating the sh*t out of orion was sooo on my bingo card i was waiting for her to do that

Lionel needs to die someone needs to get rid of him and Clara bc I will explode if he does one more thing yall like im not joking and im so glad tory is somewhat back to her usual self bc that was literally the dark ages for me when she was possessed I was so miserable and still am for everyone

on the bright side im so happy Xavier gets to finally be free like I need to know if he has a book bc im highly invested in his story now too

also the seth and caleb thing you're trying to shove on us isn't bad like I wondering how it was gonna work and I still am but Seth is gonna need to tone it down several hundred notches it just feels like they're trying rush into something bc everyone else has already progressed so far with their person. Seth terrorizing orion had me on the ground dying of laughter bc I never thought I'd see the day darcy and seth get along well but orion lowkey deserved it for his past actions but also not to much now seth bc I still want orion to not get arrested for murdering someone. also idk if its just me but caleb feels like he's kinda being two faced like if he doesnt want to be with seth okay but I feel like he's kinda dipping his toe in but also running away and pretending like he never did anything with seth. I think he needs to to express his feelings bc its gonna make seth crash out and I don't need him talking about the moon for the umpteenth time 🙄 and also it would help seth to be able to move forward and not have him stuck at this crossroads however if he does like him then boy you need to get on it bc Im so done with hearing about seth WHIMPERING for u 🤣

3.5 stars bc Im so irritated with how folks are moving like progress is being made but I need couples to actually listen to another and not fight eachother bc with the way things are moving with Lionel there is no time for drama

Goodreads needs to change this so it shows that this part is published, it came on on June 3rd and yes I’ve already finished. I would’ve finished it in 2 days if I didn’t stop myself. Now I get to wait until fucking October for part 2. Even though the release of this title was pushed back a lot you can tell the editing was rushed. There were some quality issues (long gaps of silence, one of darius’ lines was repeated twice in a row). I don’t get why they don’t just produce the whole book at once like they did for 1 & 2. They choose odd spots to stop I think.

As for the content, I just personally don’t care about Tory, tortured or not, bonded to Lionel or not. She has to do some remarkable work to get me on board with her.

if i had to describe this book with one word would be: pain

i swear i have a rollercoaster of emotions going on in me. after a book and a half of just suffering at least towards the end of the first part of the book, the author gave me some crumbs which i happily took.

i hate lionel and clara so fucking much, like top 3 worse villains, i need him to have a slow and painful death😩

but speaking seriously this book was all about forgiveness, redemption and character development. characters that I thought that had no way of redemption actually redeemed themselves. i love the new dynamic the heirs and the twins have, it’s actually so wholesome. i think one of the highlights of these books is the friendship of lance and tory, i actually do not remember if it was in this book that happened or in the last one as I read them back to back, but when tory gave him a friendship bracelet. and then when spoiler incoming, he was released from darkmore and those little interactions him and tory had just gave me life. in my eyes lance can do no wrong and is actually one my fav characters, i loved his pov so much and i can’t wait to see a happy ending for this man. darcy, I think she was the one with the most characters development in this book and it actually wrenched my heart seeing her suffering so much, first lance and then tory, please give our girl a rest, hell, give them all a little rest. i forgot to mention gabriel, the man you are, the moment he appeared he became a favorite, i devour all the scenes he appears in and is just a great character overall.

everything else going on is pure suffering and my poor heart is overwhelmed but in the most delicious and addictive way. a little less angst would be great for my heart and you know, i would not complain, but 4 books to go💀

Would have been 5 stars if it had been editing prior to release. Was missing dialogue and sound effects in many places. I’m sure there will be an update, but for that much to be missing prior to release is annoying.

I absolutely love this series on Graphic Audip. I had never read the series prior.

I didn’t realize how much I missed these characters 🥹

Tory and Darius have me so giddy and even in tear from how much I love them! And this narration is truly top notch! So far this is the best book in the series!

This one time on the moon...

Fated Throne part 1 wastes no time proving why Zodiac Academy is one of those series that can make me laugh, swoon, rage, and want to curl up in a corner and cry, and GraphicAudio manages to capture ALL of the feelings. As usual, the Twisted Sisters live up to their name by delivering another exceptional emotional roller coaster.

The story is packed with political intrigue, betrayal, forbidden romance, horrifying revelations, ridiculous sexual shenanigans, and enough acronyms to make me question whether the Fae have ever actually learned how words work. Geraldine and the ASS Club continue their outrageous resistance against Lionel, while the twins desperately try to uncover the secrets surrounding the Imperial Star and their parents. The stakes keep getting higher, and Lionel's increasingly brutal campaign against the "lesser" Orders makes it clear that this is no longer just a battle for the throne. Solaria itself is in danger.

Tory's storyline is absolutely heartbreaking. Watching her struggle against the trauma, enslavement and conditioning forced on her by Lionel is genuinely painful. Khaya Fraites does an outrageously incredible job portraying Tory's terror, shame, confusion, and desperate determination. The darkest scenes are genuinely difficult to listen to—not because the production overplays them, but because the performances make Tory's fear, shame, and helplessness feel painfully real.

And of course, this wouldn't be Zodiac without heart wrenching romance. Darcy and Lance (my favorite couple of all time!) continue to be an emotional disaster with jealousy, hurt, anger, longing, and just enough hope to keep me yearning right along with them. Darius finally begins confronting the damage he's caused and attempting to make amends, and his growing understanding of what he did to Tory adds another layer to their already incredibly complicated relationship. Their date in the Mortal Realm is exactly the kind of fun, romantic breather the story needed.

Meanwhile, Seth continues to be Seth. His attempts to make Lance jealous are absolutely hysterical, particularly because Lance reacts exactly as badly as Seth hopes he will. Seth's growing realization that he loves Darcy as deeply as he loves the other Heirs is genuinely sweet beneath all the chaos. And his increasingly complicated feelings for Caleb are heading toward one spectacularly awkward mess.

And then there's Xavier. Poor Xavier. His chapters are a hilarious counterpoint to all the darkness. He's finally free, discovering friendship, a pegasus herd, romance, and approximately seventeen thousand new ways to embarrass himself. His attempts to win Sophia, navigate his feelings for both her and Tyler, and figure out the bizarre social rules of Fae life had me laughing at his expense far more than was probably kind. His complete lack of experience with the casual nudity and ridiculous customs of shifters only makes his awkwardness even funnier. Xavier's chapters make you laugh until you're embarrassed for him. Tory's chapters make you want to crawl into a corner and cry.

There are also some truly devastating revelations about the Savage King and the history surrounding the Imperial Star. Those scenes add a whole new layer to the mystery and make the twins' determination to find the Star before Lionel even more urgent.

As always, the acting and sound design are outstanding. The cast fully commits to every aspect of this story. The comedy works because the actors aren't afraid to go completely over the top. The romantic scenes have genuine chemistry. The horror and trauma are emotionally brutal. And the supernatural elements continue to feel increasingly alive thanks to all the little Order-specific sounds—howls, growls, snorts, stomps, and everything else that makes the Fae feel like more than humans with magical powers.

The actors also absolutely nail the characters who are supposed to make your skin crawl. James Konicek's Professor Washer is spectacularly sleazy, delivering every inappropriate innuendo and overly familiar interaction with the kind of oblivious creepiness that makes you want to back away from your headphones and just SHUDDER.

Michael Glenn deserves special mention for his performance as Lionel. Between Lionel in ZA and Valter in The Legacy, Michael Glenn is DEEP his villain era. He is so convincing that I find myself absolutely HATING Lionel—which, frankly, is the mark of an excellent performance. (I much prefer him as grumpy but lovable Emerson in Amelia Peabody, where I don't have to spend quite so much time wanting someone to throw him into a volcano!)

The installment also gives us one of my favorite production choices in this adaptation is when Max enters Tory's memories. Hearing Max and Tory speaking simultaneously makes it feel like Max is actually experiencing her memories from inside rather than simply watching them. It is a brilliant use of the dramatized format and makes an already emotional sequence hit even harder.

And Lydia Kraniotis continues to make Geraldine's chapters absolute comedy gold. I still struggle with the overly low, oafish vocal characterization because I don't think it reflects the sharp, badass, intelligent, hilarious woman I know Geraldine to be. But the performance itself is committed, and Geraldine's remains one of my favorite characters.

By the time Part 1 ended, I had been emotionally devastated, thoroughly entertained and terribly traumatized. And I can't WAIT for part 2!

Story: ★★★★★

Production: ★★★★★

Spice: ★★★★★ (explicit sexual encounters)

I’m now officially hooked on this series because of the dramatized audiobook versions. I love being able to run errands, work out, or hang at the beach watching kids play in the water and sand, still while “reading” a book. I became invested in the characters and how they will get out of the cliffhangers. Fun stuff. Problem is the second half of the dramatized version isn’t coming out until October. Welp. What else is out there?… /looks around for more fantasy…

I realized that the last time I read this book it wasn't my favorite, but the second time through it I totally caught things I didn't before. Where I am not the biggest Darius fan I had a (very small) soft spot for him in my heart here. The tension between Seth and Caleb are still going and I love it.

I LOVE the graphic audio version of this, the extra sound effects are outstanding and of course the spicy scenes made me turn down my headphones *giggle*

⭐️⭐️⭐️ average/nothing remarkable/OK

Tory was slightly more tolerable in this book, but I still think the series would be 10x better if she weren't in it. Thank God for Orion, Darcy, Seth, and Caleb. Honestly, I'd be fine booting everyone else out and just moving forward with those four. I think I'm supposed to feel bad for Tory and Darius, but I honestly couldn't care less what happens to them. My vote is that Tory and Darius go to the human world and somehow stay there forever.

I definitely liked the graphic audio version better than the longer one with the Bordeauxs reading it. It skimmed a lot of irrelevant details and focused more on the important parts; even if it ended this half at a weird point.

I’m not sure why this is showing as not having been published yet when it became available on June 4, 2026 on Libby 🤷🏽‍♀️

I don’t know what to rate this. It’s higher than books I’ve rated 3 stars, but lower than books I’ve rated 4 stars lol.

Also I saw some reviews saying the audio is wonky and cuts out or skips or whatever. That is still accurate. Still excited for part 2 dramatized version. That is the worst part; waiting for the next audio to be released!

Also it was released June 3, as others have said. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I love that I am technically on book 9 but as these publish I get to re-experience the story.

Basic Plot: The Vegas and the Heirs work to thwart Lionel's plans.

This installment had a very different tone to it than other books. There is still despair at the situation they are all in, but there is more hope. More cooperation. It gives the book drive. I really enjoyed this one.
