Abi and Christy have been best friends since Christy's family moved next door to Abi. Finding out they were birthday twins has cemented their friendship.
We follow them on their life journeys from the age of 4 till present day on the cusp of their forty-first birthday.
Christy is the go-getter. Dhe knows exactly what she wants from every aspect of her life, from work to relationships.
Abi is more passive. Her relationships don't tend to end well.
During their growing up, they discover their sexuality and heartache.
I found this started well. It does go back and forth a lot, which sometimes confused me. In some places, I found it to be dragging, and I just wanted the story to move on. I did think the book was longer than necessary. Did we really need all that information.
I didn't like the ending at all. So abrupt!
I had previously read Thrown, and I enjoyed it. This, in my opinion, doesn't live up to it
Thanks to Netgalley and Hodder and Stoughton for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Life changes for Abi at the age of five when a new family move in next door. Their daughter Christy was born on the same day as Abi and they quickly become the best of friends, developing a deep and lasting relationship. Through ups and downs over the years they have supported each other, but have they ever talked about how they really feel?
The thread between two childhood friends is often tested during long absences but the strength of Abi and Chrissy’s connection is very relatable. We all have people in our lives with whom we reconnect after an absence, and it is as if no time as passed. I enjoyed the references to pop and culture throughout the book; they really added a sense of time to the sections of the story set in the past.
An engaging read with a satisfying ending.

This was an enjoyable story, with fun characters and full of childhood nostalgia although not without some darker moments. I struggled a bit sometimes with the jumps between the past and the present - the jolt between then and now varied as to how well it worked. But there were lots of characters and moments that I really liked a lot.
I wasn't so keen on all the drug-taking (I wasn't part of that crowd at school!) and the ending felt a bit rushed, even though it had taken quite a while to get there...This one didn't resonate with me quite as much as her previous novel I think (which left me thinking about wanting to live on a farm and have sheep and chickens for quite some time!) but it was still a good holiday read.
With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy.

Abi and Christy grew up together in the Manchester suburbs. Born on the same day and next door neighbours, they soon become best friends. But what do they really mean to each other and are they to willing to find out?

This is Sara Cox's best book yet and was an engaging read. It was great to travel with Abi and Christy through the ups and downs of their lives together and apart - and to see if the truth might finally set them free.
