This was truly a heartwarming short story!
Nikolai was meticulously preparing to surprise Vee with something very special for her one year anniversary. With the assistance of Roman, Ten, Alexei, and Sergei everything goes as planned. Vee is so surprised with her gift from her loving and protective husband, mob boss, Nikolai.
When Nikolai is good he is very good thanks to Vee but he is learning how to cunningly coexist displaying both sides, the good and bad in business and in his marriage. It not like he could take Family Medical leave like most (lol)... his enemies would most definitely think he was weak, right? Also you will see how Kolya (Nikolai) was learning to tell his wife the basic things as to not have her worry too much about his role as HMIC. Basically secrets will have to be in the mix too.
I really enjoyed this cute short story and guess who Vee wants to be their nanny, oops manny? Remember her protectors will do anything for her... and I mean anything!

While this one is short it does convey the love Nikolai has for Vivian and hers for him. I love that they are creating something that was scarce for Nikolai, a home filled with the love of friends and family.

A short story of Vivian and Nikolai celebrating their 1 year wedding anniversary and awaiting the birth of their son Lev.
Nikolai the notorious Russian Mob Boss has some wonderful surprises for his wife Vivian to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Nikolai has everything in place and now he is on his way to take his wife out. On the way to their bedroom, he goes into the nursery that will be for his newborn son, excited and scared at the same time, he embraces it fully because he has the love of his life Vivian with him to take on the journey.
Vivian has posted pictures in beautiful gilded frames along the walls, with little messages painted underneath in Russian and in English. Nikolai is so moved by seeing them, especially the one of his mother when she was young, beautiful, full of life and love for each other. Those were definitely wonderful times even when those times were lean. But the cruelty of life took her away from him in death, the orphanages and the horrors of his childhood and the bonding of a forever brotherhood changed him, into the ruthless Mob Boss that everyone knows and dare not try to cross.
When Nikolai is with Vivian all of the things he once believed would never happen for him, he has now been blessed with double times over. He is now a husband and soon to be a father, it is joyful and terrifying to him at the same time. Vivian loves Nikolai with a fierceness that is unconditional, she has always loved him and now that they are finally together, nothing and no one will ever come between them, not even his Mob boss father Maksim.
Author Roxie Rivera wonderfully writes these little shorts to keep us fans in the loop of the lives of our favorite Russian Protectors.

Very enjoyable. I love this series. I love Nikolai. Viv is amusing as usual.

Roxie Rivera has a way of giving her fans exactly what they want. I loved this short story. It's a free download on her web site. We get to see inside Nikolai's head on the first anniversary of his marriage to Vivian. Standing in his soon to be born son's nursery he lingers on thoughts of the past and the joyful expectations of the future. His absolute devotion to his wife and son comes through so profoundly. 3.5 stars - Nikolai and Viv celebrate their anniversary! We get to see a different side of Nikolai without him losing his true essence of a Russian Mobster. It was a cute short story.
