Holy Shit… I have no words other than this book was absolutely amazing. It completely sucked me in. Listen I have so many question but also so many were answered for me! I am completely speechless honestly.
This book is like a puzzle, you get some pieces in place but are searching for the next one, just like the questions I have in this book.
Dominik has many of his questions answered but not all of them or the reason why to those answers. As for Cassie what the fuck?? I love her so much and people are trying to ruin her peace. With the last chapter I think I know why is going to happen with the next book but that cliffhanger??? WTF WAS MY REACTION!!!

The FMC isn't the hunter and she isn't the prey. Instead, she watches from the sidelines, quietly observing the chaos while hiding secrets of her own. That perspective adds an intriguing layer to the story and creates a constant feeling that there is always more happening beneath the surface.
Secrets, manipulation, and shifting loyalties drive the narrative forward. The dynamic between the FMC and MMC is filled with uncertainty, hidden motives, and psychological tension, making it impossible to know who can truly be trusted. The dark atmosphere and lingering mystery kept the pages turning, while the dangerous games unfolding around the characters added even more intrigue.

Bleeding Heart picks right up where the first one left off which was perfect. It’s dark but flirty. I love the chemistry between Cassie and Dominik even though both seem a little oblivious of the other. You think you’ve figured them out and then someone takes a big turn and you’re left with questions that slowly get answered throughout the book. The mind games between all the characters are incredible. The sister, who at first seems like the perfect cheerful upbeat person, turns out to have many dark sides about her. The character development and depth to not only the FMC and MMC but also the supporting characters is unbelievable. The story kept you on your toes the whole time and leaves you with a massive cliff hanger. I can’t wait for the last in the trilogy.

When we read a series, there is always the fear that the following books will not be able to maintain the quality of the first. Often, the initial volume presents a strong premise, but the continuations end up losing impact, either due to lack of narrative development or by repeating formulas already used. Fortunately, Bleeding Heart, the second book in the Love Is Death trilogy, avoids this problem and demonstrates a clear evolution compared to its predecessor.
In Beautiful Poison, the author dedicated herself above all to presenting the narrative universe, the dynamics between the main characters and the central mystery of serial murders. Although the suspense was effective, the story functioned primarily as an introduction to the major conflict. In Bleeding Heart, the narrative gains depth and confidence, exploring in a more complex way both the characters and the moral dilemmas that define them. One of the greatest strengths of the book continues to be the construction of the characters.
In a market saturated with morally ambiguous protagonists who end up being softened or romanticised to win the reader's sympathy, the author takes a different direction. The characters are truly imperfect and sometimes disturbing. Their actions have consequences and their behaviours remain consistent with the personality attributed to them since the beginning of the series. Cassandra stands out particularly in this aspect. The author avoids reducing the character to a simple set of traits associated with psychopathy and instead builds a complex, unpredictable and psychologically consistent figure. The result is a fascinating protagonist, whose presence dominates the narrative without ever losing credibility. It is precisely this attention to characterisation that makes your decisions so impactful throughout history.
Another element that deserves to be highlighted is the way the mystery continues to be developed. Instead of providing quick answers, the author introduces new layers of doubt and tension, keeping the reader constantly questioning what he knows. My mind is not processing well after this and I definitely didn't expect that but at the same I can see it coming from miles away? Words cannot entirely explain what this book just did to me. It always makes me question a lot of things and I'm not even mad about it at all. Same like before, I love the way the characters are written as their own person and their own complexity. EVEN THAT CERTAIN CHARACTER HAVE IT (and that character is currently my favorite hihi). THEY ARE THEIR OWN MAIN CHARACTER MOMENT.
Okay enough with the cheering and simping lol.
I love the progress despite being a short read this second book is. The way the darkness within this genre revolves around the character. And I love finding a bit fun facts about the chemicals and their usage. But unlike the first book where the entirety of the focused is mostly about the cases that needed to be solved, this second part is somewthing I would call the "romance" finally "blooming". And secrets being revealed in a way that will make you wait because the book 3 isn't released yet while I'm writing this review.
I do not like cheating, but the more I read into this book, the more I learned about their characters. And the ending part (or close to that part at least). I have nothing to say about that at all—as I cannot put spoilers, then I will not. And I'm just letting those three to deal "it" the more I read into it. BUT one thing for sure, I do feel like that cheating part would eventually end.
P.S. not to mention I have a few more notes that I wanted to share but cannot as I cannot find the right words to express them in english as it might have the same feels or not the fitting words to say at all.
P.P.S. PLEASE do read the TW/TC for this one. And to read book 2 you needed to read book 1 first.

Bleeding Heart continues the wonderfully chaotic, addictive energy of the Love is Death series and somehow left me with answers, even more questions, and an immediate need for the next book.
What makes this series stand out is how different the characters feel from most dark romances. The FMC is a true wildcard whose psychology drives the story in unexpected ways, while the MMC's obsession with her walks a fine line between devotion and "this would absolutely be illegal in real life." Their chemistry is unconventional, fascinating, and impossible to look away from.
Cleo Orleans weaves together multiple characters, motives, crimes, and mysteries into a tangled web where everyone seems suspicious and nothing is quite what it appears. Just when I thought I understood what was happening, the story pulled the rug out from under me again.
Like the first book, this is a quick, fast-paced read that is incredibly easy to binge. The plot keeps moving, the twists keep coming, and the ending left me wondering how I got so many answers while somehow ending up with even more questions.
The best way I can describe this series is if Butcher & Blackbird and Dexter had a very dark, very unhinged baby. If you enjoy dark romance, morally questionable characters, serial killer vibes, psychological twists, and stories that keep you guessing, this series is absolutely worth picking up.

One thing I have learned from the books by Cleo is that she has the guts to put things down on paper that others would never dare and her stories really get under the skin of any csi lover types.
This psychological thriller is book 2 and you must read book 1 to have any understanding of the choices made. (Read the trigger warnings!). Book 1 introduces the small details of each character like Cassie using her victims blood to make lipstick, to book 2 connecting things with another character who uses his victims blood in his paint. The imagery definitely leaves you feeling like an unwilling but also still willing accomplice. Because I for sure understand Cassie in a way I feel I shouldn't, and thats when I know I'm in for a great book.
The relationship between Cassie and Dominik is finally moving to where we want but at what cost. Will her sister Calypso survive or has she secretly been keeping her dark side well hidden behind her colourful notes and blonde happy personage. I feel book 3 (hopefully coming in October) will reveal a much darker side that will make Cassie seem like an Angel.
I am totally absorbed into this authors books everytime and genuinely feel she is so underated and the folks that write Csi or any kind of prosecuter series should hire her because she is the Queen of this genre.

WOW! I genuinely loved every second of this. Orleans is an author who can write tension, chemistry and atmosphere in such a mesmerizing way. The story is emotional, seductive and beautifully written and I love how in book 2 we still get the same overall “mystery” but get to see the romance come to life and take shape a little more. The dialogue between the characters was witty, interesting and at times pulled your heart strings. I really want to give a nod to the pacing of this book as well, the balance hit a sweet spot for me where I felt like it was neither too much of a slow burn and didnt barrel rush the plot and ruin the mystery that certainly surrounds her world and makes it so alluring. Dominik and Cassie are incredible and the ending of this book had me speechless!
I love how we explored more of Dominik and started to have a deeper understanding of his character and mindset but Cassie!!!! Oh my, without giving away any spoilers, to say I am chomping at the bit to see the story continue and already need the next book in hand is an understatement.

This book somehow manages to feel slow and frantic at the same time, like it’s dragging its feet while sprinting emotionally. There were stretches where I wasn’t entirely sure what was happening, not because nothing was happening, but because everything was happening in a way that refused to sit still long enough to explain itself. I kept thinking I was missing something, then realizing I probably wasn’t and that the story just enjoys ambiguity. The characters drift through choices that feel heavy but slightly out of reach, like you’re watching consequences form before you understand the cause. It’s disorienting in a way that works more often than it doesn’t. And then it ends on a twist that feels less like closure and more like a verdict. Not satisfying, definitely not fair and just a clear setup that basically dares you not to read the next book. Frustrating in places, compelling in others, and absolutely engineered to keep you stuck in the series. Absolutely waiting for the next book!

This is the second book in the Love is Death Series. I recommend reading the first book to understand this one better. The style the author uses to write this story has me hooked and turning pages as fast as I can. The psychological suspense and the unreliable narrators adds to the tension that is on every page. It has multiple pov's and the characters are not likeable but for some reason I love Cassie with her dry, ice personality and of course Dominik is just obsessed with Cassie. The story is a slow paced read but it is part of the unique writing style the author uses. I am not normally a fan of this writing style but it is perfect for this story. This book does end on a cliffhanger but the author hopes to have the next book out by October, which I can't wait to read.

She did it again. This book had me sucked in. Literally lost time on this rollercoaster of who knows what and how much do they actually know. For an analytical mind that loves puzzles, collecting these pieces is alot of fun.
I love seeing the growth and the truth coming out. The monkey wrench tightening on the main characters lives is chef's kiss perfect.
I have so many questions and all the main ones are answered, I think, dont quote me on that though. A little more spice than previous book however again its written in so perfectly that it would take from the book if it wasnt there.
Doesn't matter what you typically read, this should be a series you try out for the ride. Come on October! Im waiting for book 3

I’ve gotta say, Cleo is very talented. I immediately jumped into this after speedily reading the first book. I was already on the edge of my seat because of the previous cliffhanger, and I was desperate for answers. But our dear author only provided a few answers, but then double backed just created more questions. Just when there’s a great satisfying moment in the plot, there’s a twist and your mind is blown. And the angst and slow burn in this so intense. I was just chanting the whole time “give in!” “Just tell him/her!” So yes, I was very enthralled with this one and I’m going to demand we finally get answers in the third book!

As we start off in the second book, with our two main characters and one anomaly that made himself a little known in the first book.
The only difference is that this anomaly is now far more involved in matters at court and ever plays the main characters without them realizing they are being played.
You can expect intrigue, submission and yearning along with a decent amount of blood and action.
I can't wait to see what comes next.

As we start off in the second book, with our two main characters and one anomaly that made himself a little known in the first book.
The only difference is that this anomaly is now far more involved in matters at court and ever plays the main characters without them realizing they are being played.
You can expect intrigue, submission and yearning along with a decent amount of blood and action.
I can't wait to see what comes next.

I enjoyed this sequel even more than the first book. It answered some of the questions I had while introducing new mysteries that kept me guessing the whole time.
I really liked getting to know Cassie and Dominik better, and I enjoyed seeing how their relationship developed throughout the story. There were several twists that caught me by surprise, and every answer seemed to lead to even more questions.
The ending definitely left me wanting the next book because there are still so many secrets waiting to be revealed.

The story line and characters are amazing. The writer leaves you wanting more. I feel it is very much like “BONES” (the tv show) with a darker, sinister twist.
I personally had a hard time with the writing, maybe I’m not a good psychopath interpreter 🤪. As yes, the main character Cassie is a psychopath, no spoiler there is you read book one, BEAUTIFUL POISON. Side note, I totally finished this book in under a day, so I would say I couldn’t put it down 😂
Will I read the following book? Of course!!!!! I NEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDD to know what happens and who is the murderer!!!!!

Yes, we are picking up where we left off from the first book. Cassandra, Calypso and Dominic are back and yes we're yearning! We do have a couple new players and before we get too far...there's a huge CLIFFHANGER! Cleo pushes us straight to the edge and I'm totally here for it!
I really enjoyed the art theme in this book. It is fun to read these characters and get lost in this world...I NEED the next one...yesterday! Hahahaha!!!

After reading the first book 'Beautiful Poison' I was up for a crazy ride.... I got one too.
I love 'Cassandra' and 'Dominik' and a little bit of mystery. The Darkness from the first book carried on but with a large colour red!
Again I must mention how I appreciate their descriptive writing pure talent.
Love a good 'Cassandra' quote too -

Such a good book. Cassandra is such an interesting character that I could not get my head around and could not figure out which I absolutely loved. Being a killer is hard and making sure you don’t get caught is even harder. Cassandra finds herself in a pickle with the artist and one she might not know how the game is being played. The cliff hanger at the end was absolutely devastating and I can’t wait for the next book to know what happens with these characters.

As with book 1, this book pulled me in and didn't let go until I was done. The further I sink into Cassie and Dominik's world and relationship, the more I want to know. While short, this part of the story has a lot going on. The addition of the Painter and more on Calypso add even more depth to the plot. I love the way that juicy little bits of the story are dropped in, giving answers while creating more questions. Cleo writing is so artfully done, I cannot wait for the next book.

This is Book Two in the Love is Death series. I enjoyed this one more than Book One. I found part one a bit confusing and hard to follow in parts. Book two was an easier read for me.
This is a serious slow burn, a little spice, but a lot more mutual pining and romantic tension.
The main character really is unhinged. I was hoping to dive deeper into her and her sister’s history.
I had some suspicions going into this one, and they seem to have been proven correct. But because it ended on a cliffhanger, I’ll have to wait for book three to see how that all plays out.

I must say I loved the first book beautiful poison. Then you came back through and knocked me on my butt with the second one bleeding heart. So well named because currently my heart is bleeding. I love the cat and mouse. The submission and longing. This second book has me trying to learn time travel. Again this was an amazing book and if for nothing you know how to keep us coming back.

Book two syndrome? Not here. Bleeding Heart takes the dark, twisted foundation of Beautiful Poison and raises the stakes to a dangerous new high. The obsession is deeper, the secrets are deadlier, and the emotional toll is massive. Orléans writes the "morally black" archetype so well that you can’t help but root for the chaos. I devoured this in a single sitting and need book three immediately!

It's hard to write a review without spoilers but let me just say that this book had some twists in it that I did not see coming. The end will have you on edge and waiting for the next one (fingers crossed for October)! Thank you for letting me do an ARC and introducing me to these crazy characters. Excited to see how this plays out.

Book 2 was everything I hoped for after book 1 in the Love is Death series. This one is even more intruiging then the first book. The introduction of a new character to the story made the story more intruiging. It lifted the dynamics between the main characters. And the cliffhanger... I am at a total loss here. I can't wait until the grand finale.

Annnndddd, Cleo does it again. Sucks your right in and gets you hooked! I absolutely loved book 1 and the feeling is mutual with book 2. It does end on a cliffhanger, but so worth it. CAN NOT WAIT to get my hands on book 3!!!

These books just keep getting better with each one. The suspense and the characters capture you righr from the start. The world that is being created has lots of action relationships being developed and so much more. The author has a unique way of capturing her audience that when you get to the end your dying for more. Well written and would recommend to others. Loved it.
