Although this is the second book in the series, it can stand on its own. I chose to read the first installment for additional background, which added helpful context. That said, this book was absolutely fantastic. The multiple points of view—especially Elena’s and Claire’s—were incredibly engaging and added real depth to the story. 🤯 The twists and character dynamics kept me hooked from beginning to end. I’m already looking forward to what comes next!
Arc Review: The story kicks off with Elena Drake 6 months after book 1, she thought things were resolved and that she could move forward but then she runs into a woman in the lobby of her apartment and what she thought was real starts to blur —I was immediately hooked and so curious to see where it was all going. It’s one of those books that definitely keeps you wanting "just one more chapter," even though I did feel like the pacing was a bit off. Some of those longer chapters could have easily been condensed to keep the tension tighter! That said, the mystery is so gripping that I’m already waiting for Book 3 to see what happens next. If you like Slow-Burn Suspense, you’re going to enjoy this one!

Book two of the "The Elena Drake Series," but it can be read as a standalone.
Elena is doing her best to get her life back on track after being manipulated by her previous therapist, Dr Roth, for eight years. Six months later, she finds Dr. Mehta. But what happens when her reality begins to crack yet again? Why is she being watched? And who exactly is Claire?
Elena, our FMC, goes on her own research mission to find out why everything is happening. Especially the mystery about her mother's disappearance, and once she does get a footing on her purpose, her inner strategist comes out, and you can see how capable she truly is. She's grounded, strong-minded, and doesn't back down from threats. Although the trauma, gaslighting, and manipulation are constantly being thrown at her, she does her best to overcome the obstacles to get answers. Yet she's fighting the paranoia and anxiety of what's truth and fake.
Every character is intriguing in their own way, some more than others. My heart truly breaks for Margaret and how things end up for her, particularly the scene where Alena visits her at Pinehurst. Danielle and Marybeth are super interesting. The way Marybeth shows her utmost support and belief in what Elena is experiencing, helping her tackle the issues with Claire, is admirable - a true friend. Mason, her boyfriend, is so sweet. He's so patient, protective, and supportive! I just wish she had included him in her problems from the beginning - everyone knows but him. I mean, I do understand that she doesn't want to be a burden and wants him to stay untainted, a normal part of her life... But still! Am I the only one who feels a certain type of way about this? To be honest, I feel like what transpires between them is rather lackluster: no drama, no outrage, no NOTHING. Just MEH💀. Then again, at least she is honest with him and does not make excuses for her behaviour, you know?
The entire concept riveting! Plot is written well and starts of steady before diving into the thriller aspect. Very thought provoking journey with Elena that makes you question everything with her. The mystery is brilliant and captivating from beginning to end. I appreciate the writing style, it's smooth and easy to follow. Descriptions are very good: I could imagine everything in my mind's eye. And the characters are well written. Oh my gosh, the cliff-hanger in the end got me, though. Didn't expect THAT. Love this book. メ૦メ૦💋
P.S. What ever happened to Dr. Mehta?👀 We never hear more about this character again after the first chapter, and, as far as I can remember, we're not told if Elena attends her therapy sessions... Have I missed something?
Elena is trying to get her life back in order after she told on the therapist who manipulated her for years, then there was only one person in her life that she absolutely trusted and counted on but now it all seems to be wrong another time.
She is back to the same things that happended before unexplained things like emails, time missing, looking into her mom disappearance that she didnt ask for. Who is doing this the trauma and the manipulation doesnt end it is just different now
Such a good book in this series I am really enjoying it so far.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Perfect Silence: A Cerebral Psychological Thriller (The Elena Drake Series Book 2), my second compelling 340-page psychological thriller from author Paige Monroe, an author I'd not read before reading The Perfect Patient: A gripping psychological thriller (The Elena Drake Series Book 1). “I received a complementary Kindle copy of this book & am reading it & voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I'll be reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
THE PERFECT PATIENT - Not impressed with the writing or characters. Source: My Kindle library. 2*
THE PERFECT SILENCE - I promised to review this book, so I had to finish it. A cerebral thriller, not. Interesting story and characters, average. I tried but could not get interested in the writing style, the story lines, or the characters, especially Elena. I do recommend reading Patient, then Silence. Source: The Author. 3*
II received this novel as an ARC. This is my review. Elena Drake is recovered(maybe) after her testimony in convicting Dr. Roth, her therapist. But things aren't adding up, is she spiraling, or is someone manipulate ting her again? A well written story, great characters, A story that grips you through the final pages..and more.
