A Thread of Deception in the Shadows

Rate this book
When Persephone went missing hours before when Hades was going to propose to her, Hades immediately believed Alexandros, the tyrant leader of the demigod group Ethenos behind her kidnapping.

Who else but the man behind every favored mortal's disappearance for the last four years? He’d already targeted Persephone more than once, but as the Divine Detective Agency begins to investigate the kidnapping of the Goddess of Spring, things aren’t adding up. Magical signatures strong enough to distort security cameras and magic stronger than most demigods have, and Alexandros not being seen since his attack in Athens during the wintertime…

Which begged the question, which god kidnapped Persephone, or who had gifted someone a relic strong enough to imitate a god's magic?

As more clues are revealed, Hades, with the Goddess of witchcraft, Hecate, tracks down Persephone’s kidnapper and rescues the goddess of spring from her kidnapper's clutches. which reveals how far the seeds of discontent sown by Alexandros have spread, and the King of the Dead will stop at nothing for retribution against the god or gods responsible.

This is such an amazing book! The angst, love, drama, sadness, happiness, just everything this book gives is something special. Seph and Hades are so intertwined and connected. I freaking adore this series so far and I cannot tell you how much it deserves the love and attention it should receive. The details of this book are so perfect. It’s on point with the writing and makes so much sense. I really adore the characters in this book, at least the good ones. To have something so powerful and amazing as this book is truly a special gift, one I am honored to have received. I cannot wait for the third book, I hope it’s even more amazing than this one.

While the ending of A String of Fate in the Darkness left us hanging over the fate of Persephone, this sequel begins in the most tragic way possible.

Not only is Hades searching for his kidnapped lover, but he is also working with the Divine Detective Agency to track down a dangerous individual who is willing to sacrifice a few pawns to prove his point!

Kore no longer wants to be a helpless girl – that is, the version of herself she was before discovering her true nature; but with so many obstacles standing in the way of her freedom, it’s a bit difficult for her to realise that her power is still unknown and needs to be put to use as soon as possible🔥

The deeper we delve into the story, the closer Hades and Persephone become. However, at the same time, disasters intensify, affecting the gods and innocent mortals alike.

❓Will our investigators find a solution before the villain makes his final move?

Tbh the final part was a shock for me, since given the plot twist that came out of the blue for our MCs!

I’m seriously worried that the next volume will either be the final one, or a tedious battle between good and evil, and over who has the right to rule Olympus and the human world!

Picks up right after book 1 and we see Persephone trying to escape back to Hades and Hades trying to get to Persephone.

Not much growth from these characters but I dont mind it. I do like to see how Persephone becomes so much stronger and much more confident in her strength and Hades becomes more vunerable.

Like the previous book this one ends on a cliffhanger but I am so excited to read book 3.

Thank you to Azzie Drauch for the ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this series so much and I just flew through this book! Persephone and Hades are actual goals, I love their relationship. The found family they have was the best, they would do anything for both of them. The murder investigation parts were so creative, it made me even more in love with the story. The secret that her mother has was like WHAT?! That cliffhanger was just the icing on the cake!

I dove right into book 2 after reading book one. What I liked is that you first get a little recap of the last chapter in book one. The story picks up where book one left off. There was a lot going on in this book. Multiple near death experiences, kidnapping, murder. In this book the love between Hades and Persephone got me. But the over protectiveness was a bit to much for my liking. This book also ends with a Cliffhanger. I definitely going to read book three

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A Thread of Deception in the Shadows picks up seamlessly from book one, and the momentum never lets up. Hades and Persephone's relationship deepens in such a satisfying way — watching them fight for each other against every obstacle (including some very inconvenient family members 👀) was everything. The character development is on point, the emotional range is massive.
The spice is SPICYYYYYYYYY 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Seph and Hades are a duo I will follow anywhere. Cannot wait for book 3!

So this is book 2 which I wasn't aware of going in. I may have missed some stuff from book 1 but I caught on to the story fairly quickly.

This does end on a cliffhanger so be warned. Can't wait for the next one.

Another retelling of Hades and Persephone's story but with a twist. I enjoyed this one. It has a crime element to it since they investigate murders of divine nature.

This book is a solid continuation of the book that stayed Hades and Persephone’s story. Seeing them together is awesome, and I love how protective they are of each other. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I need to say that people get their just desserts and there is some cool news! 😉

4 1/2 💜’s.

At the end of A String of Fate in the Darkness, Hades is ready to commit to forever with Persephone, but her mother, the goddess Demeter, has other plans. But have you ever seen a god in love? Hades will stop at nothing to get Persephone back, even if that means going head to head with her mother. Or his own brother 👀

An avenging Hades is a sight to behold in A Thread of Deception in the Shadows, and witnessing Persephone grow into her own goddess power as she sheds the restraints her mother placed on her is forever etched in my brain. The story kept me flipping pages well past my bed time, the character development was on point, and the reunion between Hades and Persephone? Everything I could have asked for. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
