Lore meets Children of Blood and Bone in this decadenttrue enemies-to-lovers romance, blending epic Greek and Nigerian mythology.
For five millennia, a vicious war has raged between the Òrìṣàs and Olympians. When the devastating effects of this battle begin to seep into the mortal world, threatening the existence of the gods, The Divine Council decree a union to force peace.
Merciless. Powerful. Broken . . . Ares, Olympian God of War, has no time for romance. Having spent his life on the battlefield as Zeus' heir, the future of Olympus now rests entirely upon his shoulders - a responsibility that his family will never allow him to forget.
Fierce. Loyal. Guarded . . . Ọṣun, Òrìṣà River Goddess, despises everything the Olympians stand for. Reeling from the death of her dearest friend at their hands, she is determined to keep her heart closed to the enemy - no matter the cost.
But when Ọṣun and Ares are bound together in a farce of love to keep their warring pantheons at bay, they soon find themselves caught in a battle of their own, between the hatred they have been taught to feel for one another and a connection that becomes impossible to ignore . . .

Thank you to the publisher and author for allowing me an advanced read of this book in exchange for an author blurb.
This story has a rich and vibrant tapestry of two different cultures, woven in together with some stunning descriptions and a well paced plot.
The play on existing mythologies was revitalising, and the characters took shape with excellent clarity and conviction. This is not usually a genre I am familiar with as a reader, but feel that it has great potential to stand out with it's interplay of character dynamics and contemporary interpretations of well loved myths and legends.
Holy shit what an ending. I don't think any of you understand the pain I'm feeling after finishing this book on MY LUNCH BREAK AT WORK.
I knew I was going to enjoy this book the SECOND news of the deal came out - but goodness me I had no idea I'd enjoy it this much. It has been so long since I picked up a YA book and completely melted into every part of the story.
A truly masterful debut, bursting at the seams with love and woven together by two rich and flavourful cultures.
