Was looking for a book to boost my online profile. I've had LinkedIn for a few years but I have never made good use of it.

Unfortunately this book is fraught with a few problems. First of all the edition I read (2011) is somewhat dated and the features and structure of LinkedIn has changed a little bit. Second, LinkedIn is fairly intuitive for anyone with a modicum of online experience. It pretty much prompts you to do everything. Third, the title boasts Teach Yourself LinkedIn in 10 Minutes, but the book is 212 pages long. Granted these are not dense pages and I am a fast reader, but so fast that ten minutes does it for me.

The one piece of throwaway advice I took from this book was the author's assertion, "At first glance, LinkedIn appears deceptively simple. It is true power, however, comes from employing strategic best practices of online networking, not on your ability enter your professional data on a form" (4). Unfortunatley this is not a book about the strategy of online networking but on the basic features of LinkedIn. Skip this book and teach yourself in 10 minutes.
