I never wanted to go to space. I just wanted my sister to live.
So yeah—I signed up for the Genesis Program. The one that turns human men into Carriers. The one that pays enough to keep Liv alive. The one with a neat little brochure full of “life-changing opportunity” and suspiciously vague medical bullet points.
Funny how they forget to mention the actual side effects. ( horns are definitely not listed.)
And then there’s Kaelen Sarion.
Ae’nar. Officer. Walking “I am very professional” energy. The kind of alien who looks like rules come naturally to him—like breathing, like blinking, like not staring at the human he’s supposed to escort.
Except he does.
Because the problem isn’t Kaelen.
The problem is me.
I set him off. Biologically.
One second, I’m just another candidate on a station full of people who think my body is a contract they can file and stamp… and the next, something ancient and ugly and too real snaps into place.
A mate bond.
Like the universe took one look at my life and went, You know what would be hilarious?
Kaelen wants to protect.
I refuse to be possessed.
And the hotter my body runs—the deeper the changes sink in—the harder it gets to tell where instinct ends and choice begins.
A sci-fi M/M romance about control, trust, heat—and the fact that “my mate” only starts sounding romantic when both of them mean it.

Haze Lennox writes romance the way she likes her speculative fiction: big-hearted, a little feral, and impossible to put down. She’s been making up stories since childhood, and these days she happily lives between space, magic, and the inevitable question: but what if they fell in love?
Off the page, Haze is a devoted reader, an outdoorsy camping enthusiast, and the human staff of a small cat coalition. She lives in Germany and is a proud grey ace member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
I liked most of this story. I liked the characters, but Tory did confuse and irritate me with how resistant he was to the mating and Kaelen in general, like you’ve had weeks to wrap your brain around this now. Also, the lack of communication between them was infuriating and lasted until 95% in, so maybe skip this one if that’s gonna drive you crazy. Editing was good for the most part, a few areas where the dialogue was misleading about who was saying what. Spice was pretty minimal, they don’t make any progress on any aspect of their relationship until well over halfway through the book. 2.5 stars rounded up.
I liked the story and the couple. I wish they had talked and been open about their feelings sooner. I think I'm always going to have problems with heat sex if one partner is new to it. But Kaelen did his best under the circumstances. And the conclusion was almost perfect. I can't wait for another book in the series. I want to see the changes in how the humans are treated. angst 3/5 heat 3/5 story 4/5 POV dual break up N/A
The second half kind of lost its momentum for me but overall, this was still a really fun take on omegaverse-adjacent alien romance. It's what I needed!
I will definitely keep my eye out for the next book 🙂↕️❤️
This was such a fun and unexpected find. Debut books can be hit or miss but this one left me wanting more.
The MMCs in this book share a mate bond but I appreciated the slow pace of their romance and spicy encounters. The entire storyline is intriguing and the world building was seriously impressive. Though the book really only takes place in a handful of locations the descriptions and uniqueness of the characters and world are an easy assurance than future books are going to take us to some interesting places.
The romance in this book was great beyond the general frustration of miscommunication. I appreciated the slow pace to their relationship and the progression from Tory seeking the Genesis program to his bonding with Kaelen was great. It was impossible not to connect and care for both MMCs with the slow pace and dual POV. I loved the huge cast of interesting side characters and I’m already planning out possible pairs or interesting future plot points certain couples could create.
This will definitely be a reread for me someday soon but in the meantime I’m going to have fun thinking about all the other characters who will hopefully get their own books!
Tropes: Mates, Heats, Knotting, Size Difference, Miscommunication, Looks Like He Could Kill You - Is A Cinnamon Roll, Human/Alien Pairing Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 3/5 Relationship: MM
I’m rating this one a 5 stars, but I think it was more 4.5 stars. I really enjoyed the world building and story for this book. I felt like I had a clear understanding of what we were being told as a sort of introduction to the series. The really enjoyed Kaelan as a character and found his species to be very interesting. Tory I had some problems with. I really enjoyed how this whole thing brought light to where the program could make improvements and bring about change. Buttttttt, Tory was just TOOO mean at times. I really felt bad for Kaelan who also wasn’t expecting any of this to happen.
The pacing was a tad off for me. It’s such a nice foundation set and a good 30% before the characters even interact. But then we have like 60% of Tory being mean and then 10% of him finally recognizing Kaelan’s care. I wish we got more of them happy and together.
I love and hate finding new authors cause it’s fun to see new ideas and writing style but sad when there’s only one book out! Lol
I’m excited to see more of what this series has in store. Joey and “Gremlin” should be an interesting read.
This was so good. The kind of book that wraps around you so effortlessly that you don’t even realize how deeply you’ve fallen into it until the last page.
Everything flowed with such ease every interaction, every emotion, every quiet little moment in between. I adored the MCs with my whole heart, but the side characters were just as vivid and alive. Nothing felt flat or forgotten. And fated mates? Absolute kryptonite for me. Add the soft, intoxicating omegaverse atmosphere and I was completely gone. The world felt warm, immersive, almost tangible — like I could see every glance, feel every touch, breathe in every scene alongside them
The chemistry was stunning. The spice wasn’t just hot, it felt intimate and purposeful
I’m genuinely so happy I picked this up. If life and work hadn’t gotten in the way, I would’ve devoured it in a single sitting without even noticing the hours pass.
I picked this up for the gorgeous cover and was immediately hooked by the premise and strong opening. This is an alien fated mates/body bond romance that leans heavily into emotional tension and instinct-driven connection. If you enjoy an MMC who stubbornly avoids his reality and difficult conversations, this will likely work well for you—“You need to clear the air… Otherwise—what are you doing?” “Freaking out?… Avoiding difficult conversations like the emotionally mature adult I am.” For me, that dynamic became frustrating over time (person opinion: miscommunication from intentional avoidance is infuriating), and the pacing lost some of the depth it started with. That said, there’s clear promise here and this sci-fi OV world is interesting, especially for a debut. Hopefully book two has less wilful miscommunication trope.
I was browsing through Amazon looking for a sci fi mm read and I found this little beauty.
This is a new author and suffice to say, I’m already seriously hooked. I finished this book and went straight back into Amazon to see if this author had any other books - I’m eager don’t hold it against me. I discovered that this is their debut book and they don’t have any other books yet - I wanted to cry!
This book was beautifully written and pulled me in from the very first page.
Tory made the ultimate sacrifice and that in itself spoke volumes for the type of person he was. He went through so much but gained new friendships and a mate.
Kaelen surprised me at every turn. He went above and beyond for his mate by protecting him and caring about his wants and needs.
It was fine? I always want more plot over more porn and this one was a bit too smut heavy and not enough world building. Needed more information; if the mates can have matching marks why wouldn't that immediately give them dibs to someone who's mark matches theirs? I mean otherwise goodness forbid you go to a business meeting & run into their spouse and *bam* you've spontaneously dibbed them when they're mated to someone else. Why not allow information with humanity about what happens with the mates; sure some will be horrified but there's always gonna be people DTF aliens, also better than rumors spreading with WORSE things.

So I actually really liked this? I felt like the story was pretty decent, and it balanced tragic backstory meets bright future really well. My only gripe is that it felt very whiplashy in regards to Tory. One second he hated everything and the next he was in love with Kaelen. But we never really got a good enough amount of sweet/cute moments. And we went from Tory hating Kaelen to bam 5 years later them being in love. It just could’ve used some more moments in between in my opinion but I still liked the story and I’d definitely read more in the series.
I enjoyed this and definitely want to read more in the series. What bugged me was the constant change between Ae'nar and Ae'nari. I couldn't figure out the rhyme or reason with that. Supposedly it's singular/plural, but it wasn't always consistent with that usage. Also SO MUCH could have been resolved if Kaelen and Tory just freakin talked to each other. The lack of communication had me skimming the last 15-20% of the book.
If you like aliens, if you like m/m romance, if you like mpreg...look no further. This is dual POV done right and the story is sweet and hot just the way I like it. I can't wait to read the next in the series and this author is going to be on my follow list from now on.
I really like this one. Im not one for insta love, its satisfying when the characters dont lose their whole identity to love/fated mates. I'm buying a physical copy as I write this. I hope joey and Noah get a book too. In the meantime, i'll try to fill the void. Read it, you won't regret it.
It was fun, tho a bit irritating at times. I enjoyed the sci-fi aspect, which is not a genre I usually read. It is not a world I would like to live in because the human aspect was a bit depressing, but the alien world was interesting. I do have to admit, I was more invested in the side characters and look forward to their stories.
This book was a really fun read. It was emotional and exciting. A lot happens and it was fun watching the dynamics between our main characters develop. I am looking forward to a book that focuses on Joey, he was probably my favorite character!
